I saw a horrendously bad bloodborne take and it’s been bothering me for years now

Okay, so the general plot is that people are injecting eldritch god blood into themselves because it works as medicine, but it also turns people into beasts. And one YouTube comment I saw a long, long time ago, claimed that the theme of the game was that vaccines are bad.

The plot isn’t about the fucking blood!

Sure, the blood is important but it’s not the big bad. It’s about the scholars of old attempting to push beyond human comprehension, forcing evolution and paying the price. It’s about those in power committing heinous crimes and damning us all so they can gain even more wealth or social status. It’s about the dynamic of a family, and how the great ones abuse women to birth children which they then abandon (Except Kos, she’s a cool mom). It’s about fucking anything but the blood! The blood is just a plot element! A force of nature! The same as a gun that’s wielded! It might cause the bad things, but it’s not the damn focus!

Sorry, this has just been eating at me for a few years now. I always mean to post more positive stuff on this, but I just needed to go off for once.

I want you to imagine, for a brief second, that some upstart brand wanted to overtake Heinz Ketchup.

To do this they decide they’re going to launch a smear campaign against Heinz where they “prove” that Heinz ketchup is actually poison. They do this by abusing the neurodivergent children of people who essentially already believe that ketchup is poisonous.

The idea of this was to then go, “So that’s why you should eat OUR non-poison ketchup! =D” but the media reporting on their campaign needs a headline and “Ketchup is Poison” sells papers. Now next thing you know what was a small group of people is now a full on movement of thousands of people who believe that Ketchup is poison.

This upstart brand is trying desperately to go, “Nonononono we mean this ONE ketchup is poison! You should TOTALLY BUY our ketchup!” But nobody wants to listen.

Next thing you know, some guy has gone down this rabbit hole and basically put together that this was all just a fraud to sell ketchup that backfired HORRIBLY. They make a documentary exposing the ketchup brand as being fucking terrible. The ketchup brand goes bankrupt and is disgraced.

Nevertheless the ball is rolling and more people by the day continue to think Ketchup is poison.

For those who don’t know what I’ve described is the founding of the modern antivax movement and I will NEVER GET OVER THAT.

The most effective rebuttal of the anti-vaccine movement I've ever seen is in Netflix's "Pandemic: How to prevent an outbreak", episode two.

It opened with a very loving, devoted mother talking about how she didn't want to vaccinate her kids, and how it would be wrong for the government to force her.

It immediately transitioned to another mother burying her young, healthy son who had died two days after contracting the flu.

No narrator commentary. Just the contrast - a healthy kid who picked up the flu while surrounded by other kids and died from it.

You think it's wrong your child can't play on the basketball team without being vaccinated. Is that belief worth killing other people's kids for?

God I hate anti-vaxxers, I hate them even more when they're so anti-vaxx to the point they won't vaccinate their pets. And for anyone on the hate train for convenia; No it doesn't give your pet aneima, no it doesn't give your pet cancers, no it won't make your healthy pet fall dead suddenly.

And for the love of everything, do not tell someone who is actually in the veterinary field that a medicine is bad when you don't even understand science.

"But my pet had anemia when it died, so convenia clearly did it." No it didn't. The common causes for anemia is not a fast acting antibiotic. "But my pet had cancer when it died!! I had tests done! My pet passed away 10 days after the convenia injection!" No. It didn't. An antibiotic can not give your pets cancer, and even if it could, it doesn't take just 10 days for it to get that bad because that is TOO soon.

Edit; I would like to say that yes, your pet can be allergic to convenia. Just like your pet can be allergic to many OTHER medications out there. You know, just like humans in that regard.
