Somehow, I think Riddle’s diss against Yuu in Book 1 would go just a BIT differently with Cerezo (BIG thank you to @pawnyao for taking my commission)

as a prank, ace and epel start referring to their upperclassmen as members of their family rather than by name — when they're not actually talking to their upperclassmen, of course — just to see how long it will take them to notice. and after a while, the other freshmen start doing it, too.

ace is the first one to come up with this idea. he think it's a harmless little thing, a prank that'll cause plenty of mayhem but won't get him in any serious trouble. so he starts referring to cater and trey as his dad and mom respectively, and riddle as his uptight, no-nonsense older brother.

("one time i saw my brother try to put one of mom's tart into like a ziplock bag to save it for later, and when he took it out like two days afterwards, it fell apart immediately and he started bawling, ha ha! my dad got the whole thing on camera and shared it with me — i can show you if you want.")

he ropes epel in on the plan. epel is a little more hesitant, but seeing this as a way to get back at vil, even in a small way, he agrees to it. vil is now "ma" and rook is now "pa". people do start to wonder why he still uses he/him pronouns to refer to his supposed mother, but they decide not to question it too much.

surprisingly, deuce catches on pretty quickly, and he starts thinking maybe it's a new dorm policy. he doesn't know why, or why nobody else seems to be doing it, but ace seems pretty sure of himself, so he starts doing it, too, if a bit awkwardly.

yuu starts after they ask ace about it, and thinking it's a good prank, they decide to join in on a little mischief. so they start referring to all the teachers as their "dad". it makes people really confused, because they assume they only have one dad, two at most, but "dad" seems to change personalities every single time they talk about him.

ortho is up next. idia's already ortho's brother, so he can't really do anything with that, but he really wants in on the average teenage experience of pranking your peers. so he starts referring to literally every upperclassmen he knows as his "brother". this is when everyone starts to realize that something's wrong, because some of things ortho says can not apply to idia in any reality.

jack is, unsurprisingly, very unamused when he figures out what the others are doing, but he doesn't try to stop them. but after a few weeks of exposure, and jack starts unconsciously doing it, too, which the others don't point out to him because they think it's absolutely hilarious.

sebek is the last hold-over. not only is he unamused by this prank — and frankly very aghast when he realizes that jack has also been infected by it — but he's also really repressed and will do literally whatever it takes to not sully his image in the eyes of diasomnia. of course, with enough wear and tear, this doesn't last very long.

ace and epel think all of this is extremely funny, so they all keep trucking along with it with nobody noticing for a couple of weeks. it's all fine and dandy until the first-years are out on the town during the weekend, and deuce gets involved in a really bad carriage crash.

at the hospital, deuce starts deliriously asking for his older brother to take him home. but when the receptionist checks his familial records, they're really confused because deuce never even had a brother.

unfortunately, ace knows exactly who deuce is talking about, and awkwardly spends the next 30 minutes trying to get a hold of riddle over the phone.

Here's a short list of things that I think would affect yuu (not from an omegaverse world) being in twisted wonderland (omegaverse au)

The scent thing. In my mind, everyone has a scent, including betas, theirs are just weaker. So how would Yuu, who has no scent, be classified? Would ortho or idia want to study them and see what's different between twst folks and earth folks? Scent is usually just noted in smut scenes, but it does have a larger role in most a/b/o stories. Mainly, it's how people communicate emotions. If you're happy, it shows in your scent. If your distressed, it shows in your scent. If your scared, excited, horny, anxious, it shows in your scent. People probably focus on scent when it comes to emotions before they focus on your face or body language. So figuring out what Yuu is feeling is probably a lot harder. It's even worse if Yuu isn't that expressive in the first place. Although it does make me wonder about how people try to hide their scents when their trying to be aloof or stoic...

Noises. This also ties into emotions, the more extreme ones at least. A/b/o twst people purr when their happy or content and growl when they're feeling territorial. Yuu might be able to growl, not very well but whatever. But purring? Yeah no. Not happening. Bless Jades heart he's trying so hard to give Yuu gifts they like and listening for a purr and it just. I think a lot of this could be cleared up with some communication, but at the same time poor Yuu wouldn't know what they were supposed to be communicating.

If scents are reflective of emotion and how people communicate, I would think they reflect people's personalities in the same way facial expressions do? So a particularly stoic person (like say Silver) would have a much more muted scent when he's happy than someone who is much more expressive (like Kalim.) Of the people who would be most distressed by Yuu's lack of scent, I think it would actually be Riddle since I could see him thinking it is a medical issue they need to get checked out ASAP. It would certainly isolate them from their peers even more than not being a mage would, making them a real alien as far as most people in Twisted Wonderland would be concerned.

Now. Jade. My beloved. I think after he manages to successfully court Yuu he would be very smug about this because he would be maybe one of the only people in Twisted Wonderland able to pick up on Yuu's unique body language. riddle's birthday is coming up, so ace and deuce buy him a birthday cake from tiana's palace, a famous restaurant on sage's island — it's so insanely busy all the time, it's normally impossible to even step foot into the place.

what they don't realize is that anybody who blows out the candles on the palace's birthday cake will have their wish granted, regardless of the consequences or if they actually meant it or not.

when riddle receives the cake, he jokingly wishes that the first-years would listen to their upperclassmen. deuce laughs and ace rolls his eyes.

the next day, everything starts going very wrong.

ruggie laughs and gives jack a very non-confrontational "shut up", and suddenly, jack loses his voice. he can't speak at all anymore. he can't even growl. the infirmary nurse can't figure out what's wrong, and he has to sit out of alchemy lessons because he can't communicate with his partner.

before school, vil off-handedly tells epel to brush his hair, and now epel physically can't stop brushing his hair. it's so bad to the point that he takes his brush to class, and his brush starts pulling out strands of his hair with how tender his scalp is getting.

cater reminds ace and deuce to paint the roses for the next unbirthday party — a chore that should only take one, maybe two hours tops. trey finds them later at midnight, still outside, still painting the roses. and that's when everyone discovers that ace and deuce have painted the roses red, then pink, then green, then aquamarine, then white, then all the way back to red — and they've been repeating this cycle for 7 hours straight.

sebek, ortho, and yuu seem unaffected at first — sebek follows all of diasomnia's orders, yuu doesn't have much of a say in the matter anyway, and idia rarely ever orders ortho around — but this doesn't last very long.

lilia tells sebek that he shouldn't spend so much time with diasomnia, and next thing he knows, the entire diasomnian student body doesn't see or hear from sebek for literal days.

similarly, idia anxiously and politely asks ortho to stop attracting so much attention to ignihyde with his sheer amount of presence, and ortho just straight-up vanishes. even idia's sensors can't detect him anymore.

furthermore, trein tells yuu to take a break and, quote, "get away from night raven college for a bit". given everything that's already happened, you can probably guess what happened next.

five days after riddle's birthday, most of epel's hair has fallen out and his skin has been rubbed until it bled. jack hasn't said a word all this time, and he's been put on indefinite medical leave for not being able to participate in class (shot in the dark — the nrc system is pretty ableist). ace and deuce have had to be sedated for them to sleep almost every night. diasomnia, ignihyde, and the entire nrc staff have had constant, back-to-back panic attacks.

so in summary: everything's gone to shit.

Twisted Soulmate AU

Imagine if the main cast (all 22 named characters plus Yuu not counting Grim) had a familial or platonic Soulbond relationship, where they can write on their bodies to communicate. It's a little harder for Riddle, whose mother disapproves of Soulmates, the Octatrio, who are underwater, and Jamil, whose parents want him to work all the time, but they make do.

Now imagine if they also share pain through the bond. Experiencing the pain of 22 other people constantly sounds difficult...

The incident that lead to Leona's scar along with past events that all of them have felt means that they all have rather good pain tolerance, some better than others, like Ace is whiny about the pain, but they can all make it through the pain.

But the person who transfers the most physical pain through the bond is Yuu, who doesn't have the best home life and is bullied at school. Unlike Azul's bullies however, (I headcanon that Azul's bullies never physically hurt him, because blood in the water is just asking for predators to come for him, and the bullies don't want him dead) they aren't afraid to use physical force.

All of this means that the only people who aren't against Yuu are their Soulmates. At this point, they haven't told each other their names, they just have nicknames because some of them are pretty famous and don't want it out that they're soulmates with such a large group.

While the group is struggling to find good times for all of them, because they live all over the world, which means different time zones, they're fine because they have each other, right?

Even if Riddle was being locked up by his mother in his own house, and they had to do a lot of convincing to prove to him that doing so was wrong, he would be fine because they were there for him, right?

Even if Leona was being told constantly that he'll never amount to anything compared to his elder brother to the point where he doesn't want to try anymore, he would be fine because they were there for him, right?

Even if Azul was being bullied constantly, having his emotions toyed with for the entertainment of others so that they could laugh at the tears they pulled from the octomer, he would be fine because they were there for him, right?

Even if Jamil's parents forced more work onto him constantly and made him consistently place lower than Kalim on everything, he would be fine because they were there for him, right?

Even if Vil was scared that everyone would only ever see him as a villain and that he couldn't get a happy ending like the heroes in plays and movies did, he would be fine because they were there for him, right?

Even if Idia mentioned that it was just him and Ortho on their lonely, isolated island away from everyone else, he would be fine because they were there for him, right?

Even if Malleus was feared by everyone around him for his immense magical power, for fear that he would lash out and hurt them for offending him, he would be fine because they were here for them, right?

Even if Yuu was getting beat up worse and worse by the day and couldn't get to them because they were stuck in another world, they would be fine because they were here for them, right?

But they couldn't be there all the time. They had to place their writing carefully, so that Riddle's mother wouldn't notice, so that Jamil's parents wouldn't think that he was slacking off, so that Vil, Leona, and Malleus wouldn't be seen with writing on them.

But they could make it through the struggles, even if they were all apart. A few of them had met in person before, Trey and Riddle, Vil and Jack, Jade, Floyd, and Azul, Ace and Deuce, Kalim, Leona, and Jamil... but other than that, they were all scattered across the world.

But they could push through, make it to each other, research ways to bring Yuu to them... they would find a way to make it work, find a way to be together, no matter their status.

And then, they finally met. Cater, Trey, Leona, Vil, Rook, Idia, Malleus, and Lilia all met at NRC for the first time. And while they may not be what they expected to be, they were all together and that was enough, even if it wasn't all of them.

The next year, Riddle, Ruggie, Azul, Jade, Floyd, Jamil, Kalim, and Silver joined them. Now in person, they were closer than ever. Now, they could talk without having to find a good place and time where they could write on their chest and stomach without odd looks.

The last year at NRC, everyone except Yuu was there. And while they tried to enjoy it, the gaping absence of the calm magicless teen was greatly felt by everyone, no matter how they tried to deny it.

But then the Headmaster came bursting in, along with a small, gender-ambiguous teen who they all felt a draw to.

That night, they all slipped out and met at the Ramshackle Dorm.

That night, they were finally together.
