I'm taking my dog to the vet in an hour and would greatly appreciate it if y'all could pray to Artemis for him (or any deity, tbh). He's 12, and, well, I'm not sure what's going to happen. He's having an issue with his eye (I believe he will need a tooth pulled) but may not be able to go under anesthesia if needed. In that event, I'm genuinely unsure what we'd do for him. So, if y'all could just send a prayer, I'd appreciate it. I will be writing a general pet protection/health prayer for Artemis (that anyone can use) later tonight as well.

Poor Razvan has an injury along the bottom of his jaw. It's been healing over the past couple of days, and so far, there are no signs of infection. I don't know how he got the injury as the driftwood in this tank isn't sharp. The only thing I can think of is maybe he got spooked and bashed himself against the dragon stone somehow 🤷♀️
Hopefully, he will heal up just fine. He is still eating and acting normal, so that's a good sign~!

help my family afford to get my dog the treatment she needs
tw // pet health + injury
this is my almost 7 year old corgi named macy!! she’s had chronic ear infections due to allergies for the past 4-5 years of her life. the vets never give us a straight answer, always saying it’s some sort of allergy that could be food related, something airborne, or even something in the house. they flush her ears and then send us home with steroids to stop the pain in her ears that last for 2 weeks at most and it costs us around $300 every time we go in.
recently my mother noticed blood in her urine and her taking a long time to go potty which is leading us to believe she has a bladder infection on top of her allergies. my dad is going to call the vets tomorrow and schedule an appointment to get her checked out but i have no idea how much the tests and treatment is going to run us, all i know we don’t have the money at the moment. hence us being forced to forgo getting her the steroids to help her ears.
she’s in pain every single day. i hear her crying in pain at night when i come home to visit. we have to avoid her ears when petting her or she screams out in pain. my younger sibling tells me that it’s basically a constant thing at this point.
i hate doing this but i hate seeing my dog in pain more so please consider helping if you can. literally anything helps, even a single dollar. i offer all sorts of divination readings if you’d like to buy one to help.

Last Monday my cat died. I posted briefly about it, but I didn't get into details. I need to get things out of my head to process them, so this is going to be more detailed. I'm putting it under a cut so people can skip
We got Ember and Binky in August. They were born mid April, so they still had baby faces and were tiny. They were sisters born to a feral cat who had been caught by a local TNR group just before they were born. That means they were fostered right from birth and never had to live outside.
Ember was the brave one - curious and affectionate. She had no concept of "no" and as far as she was concerned she was the center of the universe. If Binky was playing with something or getting attention, Ember would show up and put herself right in the middle. She was known to try and lick the tube treat right out of Binky's mouth.
She was so affectionate she was baby. She liked to be held on her back in my arms to have her face pet and to fall asleep. She also liked to lay down on my chest if I was on the couch, sometimes right across my neck - but she weighed like 3 lbs so what was I to do about it. She would often sit on my arms/hands to stop me from typing or knitting so that she could get the attention she obviously deserved.
She was an indoor cat. We had "kitten proofed" the house - made sure they didn't have access to house plants or cleaners or other potential dangers. We thought she was safe.
I don't know exactly what happened. I was the only one home. I had been playing with the cats and then they wandered off to explore elsewhere. I was in the kitchen, washing my hands when I heard a noise - something had fallen. I finished washing my hands and went to check - I figured she had knocked over the small cat tree we have by the window (they did that when they got a little too exciting jumping in and out of it).
I found my big bobbin lace pillow on the floor. I can only guess what happened - she climbed up the cloth bins to the top of the storage unit and pulled it down on top of herself. The unit is about 4ft high, the pillow is upholstered, but made with plywood, it's solid and heavy. It was on top of the unit, but stable, pushed back and fully supported. I wonder if she got her claws stuck in the fabric and that's why she couldn't get out of the way.
She was bleeding and thrashing like a fish out of water. I picked her up but she wouldn't stop thrashing. I couldn't see any wounds. There was so much blood. I couldn't tell where it was coming from, but it was dripping from her. I held her closer to try to get her to settle, and ran to the neighbours. I had to stop to shut the door to make sure Binky didn't get out. There was blood on the door.
I rang my neighbours bell and called her name. Ember stopped moving. I pet her and checked her and she was so still. The neighbour opened the door. She asked whose cat it was, was there an accident, am I ok. "It's Ember. She's gone. I don't know what to do"
The neighbour brought me back to the house. We put her in the sink to check her. She was gone. No obvious wounds. Covered in blood. The neighbour suggested a towel, I went to get one. We laid her on it and checked again. No breathing, no heartbeat.
I called my husband - he was on the way home with my kid. I had to tell them what happened. "There was an accident, Ember got hurt. She died. The neighbour is here helping me." My son started crying. I tried to clean as much blood as I could before they got home. Off the door, off the floor where it had dripped when I carried her. Not where it happened, that was too much, that was for later. Realized I was covered - my shirt and pants, my arms, my face. I washed off as much from my skin as I could, no time to change.
They got home. My son, taller than me but still a kid, crying, breaking down, asking why. I told him not to go in the living room, to go find Binky. My husband asking what happened, showed him the room, the mess, tried to make sense of it.
The neighbour asked if we had a box. Helped me settle her into it. Told us the less expensive place to go in the morning. She gave me a hug and told me she'd check on my later. It was about half an hour after I heard the noise.
My husband told me he'd start cleaning while I showered. I needed to shower before I called my daughter to tell her. When I got out of the shower most of the mess was cleaned. I help clean blood off the walls. The rug. Hugged my son while he laid with Binky and cried.
It was so quick. Intense and traumatic. Binky wouldn't come downstairs, she stayed in bed with us all night. My son didn't want to be down stairs the next day either. We watched a movie piled in my bed. Shared memories, talked about sadness and grief and the fine line between helpful distractions and trying too hard not to feel.
Now it's been almost a week. Binky still looks for her, but she doesn't avoid the room anymore. My son asked me to get a new rug because he could still see the stains - I got rid of the old one and the new one will be here tomorrow. The lace cushion is stored on the floor beside my loom.
We have plans to get a new cat because Binky needs a companion. We can't replace Ember - she was so special. It still feels unreal. We only had her 3 months and then just gone. Putting away her favourite toys made me cry.

This fool hurt himself today while running, skinned a patch on his hock on something. I'm worried he'd get a sock off overnight, so this is where we are at after sacrificing an old pair of tights
He is ok, it's nothing concerning, but ya know how some scrapes get a little gooey as they heal? I think that'll be the case here, and I really don't want him licking it.

I know everyone is in a difficult place financially right now, but my childhood friend Mel and his partner Amber are in desperate need of funding to get their wonderful ZZ the help she needs.
I've had the pleasure of meeting this adorable grumpy void myself. She's one of those cats that feign aloofness but secretly adore you with every fiber of their being. ZZ suffered from kidney failure this past Thursday, and her vital overnight vet stays are more expensive than my friends can afford.
No pressure of course, but if you have $1 to spare or can boost this post, my friends would really appreciate it! Thanks for your time.

A friend of mine had a scare yesterday when her tiny tiny dog managed to slip out a second story window and learned she couldn't fly the hard way!
Luckily the poor pup has no breaks or internal damage, and has been given medication for the bumps and bruises she suffered (given that she's only like 4 pounds soaking wet, she's very lucky).
Her owner, a friend of mine since high school, could still really use some help with the vet bills because their household was already financially stressed before this little dog escapade.
Spreading the word and any donations are both equally appreciated!

"Help!" Avery calls out as he rushes inside the clinic, the cat on his arms struggling to run away, he couldn't let it got it was his fault after all, "I--it was running away from me, I don't know, it got scared and," he paused, clearing doing his best here, "I--I was just trying to pet it! I don't think the car hit it, but I think its leg is hurt. Also hates me for some reason...just take it, help him!" maybe it was the fact he was now a wolf, maybe he had some type of...dog-like-smell that made cats angry at him, and that made him miss home even more, wondering if his dad's cat would hate him too once he got back, if he ever got back. @magicvet

Croak loves playing tug o' war with this hanging toy. I cut off the bottom once so I could remove one of the sticks because I wondered if he was frustrated that he couldn't remove one and chew on it, but even with plenty of chewing sticks, he still spends a lot of his time doing this.
...And as you can see, his skin is quite bad at the moment. In fact, he came out of his burrows Tuesday night covered in blood because one of his scabs had started bleeding. I'm hoping it was a one off because he came out yesterday without all the blood, but if that keeps happening, I think it'll be time to really think about having him put to sleep due to the discomfort I assume he must be feeling.

Hey, hi! Im really sorry for sending this, i just hope im not overstepping any boundaries as I’m about to ask help which is very important right now :( our cat, Sleepy needs an urgent vet care. She is pain and I can't afford to pay the vet to help her so I'm reaching out to ask for help, I mean even if you can’t help monetarily, reblogging or sharing it would truly mean a lot. She is my daughter’s best friend and she’s all I have left of my mom who passed away last 2021. In case you’d be insterested to help, I have pinned the post on my blog, please try to also answer the ask privately as some people tend to get weird on this stuff. Please send us prayers, be safe. ♥️🙏
I'm so sorry about your cat, I have two myself and I know how heartbreaking this would be. I'm so sorry I'm currently unemployed and struggling myself but if anyone else can afford to give please do. I hope things turn out well for you and that sleepy lives a long healthy life❤️❤️❤️

does anyone have any knowledge with potential brain injury related to oxygen deprivation in cats?
i don’t know if my cat needs to go to the vet asap and i’m struggling to find info
tw: pet injury / suffocation / vomit
one of my cats was just found with a plastic bag on her head. we have no idea how long it had been there because we have been out of the house for hours.
she had vomited in the bag and was covered in her own vomit. the bag was steamy from her breath meaning it had likely been there for a bit.
she is alive and breathing, but not really active. she is sitting completely still and not reacting to other animals being close, when she would usually respond with a slap.
i can’t tell if she is just shaken up or injured. i’m afraid she might have brain damage from the oxygen deprivation.
most of the vet offices near me are closed with it being christmas.
should i bring her to an emergency vet asap? or should i bring her to her regular vet in the morning?
if she is acting normal by tomorrow should she still go to the vet?
