My personal headcanon is that when the twins visit for the next summer, Ford and McGucket take to communicating via hambone to send each other secret coded messages when the kids are around. Dipper becomes determined to translate the hamboning, so when Ford/McGucket catch on, they start purposefully changing it and sending occasional nonsense messages to throw him

FI: So like this, my left knee and then my right testicle are sharp. Are sharp, apparently, and they destroy jeans. And so the other day, I was wearing these jeans, and it was like, what I imagined wearing a skirt is like, because it was like, breezy and it was really cold. So I was like, I have to go get jeans now. So I had to, I had to go. Good thing it was Black Friday, I got, I got some, I got a good deal on jeans... that I imagine my balls are gonna rip through."
