So I finished Dead Boy Detectives a few days ago and I desperately need a season two and Netflix is completely fucked and probably won’t renew it (viewership is apparently very low) so I’m just here to say hey, please watch this show! It’s so good! It’s fun and weird and funny and queer and kind of shockingly violent and gory, and all of the characters are absolutely delightful. I don’t normally go for supernatural stuff, but knowing it was in the Sandman universe (also, I highly recommend watching The Sandman first if you haven’t, it’s even better, but also we’re on a time crunch here because again, Netflix is fucked, so if you don’t have the time you should go straight to DBD) made me want to watch it. I watched most of it in one sitting and I’m absolutely obsessed now.

So please watch it! Watch it twice, watch it three times, tell your friends and family to watch it! Honestly even if it’s not your thing and you’re not interested but you would still like to help, you could just mute it and have it on and not even watch. I might do that myself because I have other things to watch (and also I don’t want to get sick of it by watching so many times).

Anyway. Bottom line, please watch Dead Boy Detectives! Because Netflix is a fucked up company that cancels everything if the viewership isn’t super high and I need a second season so badly.

CURIOSIDADES:

A série é uma adaptação de histórias em quadrinhos escritas por Nelly Geimann nos anos 80. A série começou como um original Netflix, mas a plataforma a cancelou após a primeira temporada.

Depois de ter uma primeira temporada cancelada pela Netflix, fãs ávidos dos quadrinhos e novos fãs da série se juntaram em uma petição para a Prime comprar seus direitos. E funcionou! Mas isso não acabou com a discussão online sobre séries com representação LGBTQIA+ da Netflix receberem pouca divulgação, sempre acabando canceladas.

Sandman teve sorte quando mudou de streaming, mas isso não quer dizer que as polêmicas acabaram! Boatos que o ator de Corinthian não está feliz com o roteiro de seu personagem na segunda temporada. Na verdade, ele diz que nem esperava ter que retornar! Isso começou a gerar uma série de notícias sobre o homem se atrasar para as gravações da próxima temporada. Uma fonte anônima alega que ele apareceu bêbado uma vez e quebrou uma das câmeras por acidente, mas não há como comprovar isso. O ator de Morpheus chegou a alegar em uma entrevista que o set está mais caótico que o normal. Seria uma indireta para o ator problemático de Corinthian?

Literally the perfect resolution. The ending is satisfying, all main subplots are resolved, yet it tempts a 2nd season

I like how in this era of excellent queer TV to replace the SuperWhoLock era, each light hearted comedy show of the trio has a dark queer mirror. Black Sails is to Our Flag Means Death, as Interview With The Vampire is to What We Do In The Shadows, just as The Sandman is to Good Omens.

I do find it odd how in each pairing its the supposed light hearted comedy show that has emotionally devastated its audience so far though...
