Tip of my tongue 80s TV show
I'm trying to identify a murder mystery special or movie of the week that was aired in the early to mid 80s where the audience is given clues to identify a bride's murderer at a giant mansion and the suspects give their alibis to the camera. Everyone is a suspect, it does get solved at the end but I won't spoil it.
I want to say Bill Bixby hosted but it could be someone else who was known for hosting magic and mysteries of the unknown shows. Can't say if there were phone numbers for the audience to call in and vote for who did it. Having the audience try to figure it out before the end was an important gimmick.

The funniest yet the worst thing about watching so many murder mysteries series is confusing the plot of episodes with different shows in the same universe.

“The PJO show is for children. It’s not meant for older audiences” Shut the fuck up. Shut up. People are allowed to criticize media for not lining up with the source material the way they expected it to. The source material that is also for children.

The third ensemble of "Murder Under the Mistletoe" (Season 2, Episode 13) is Phryne's beautiful antique printed jacket atop her intricately beaded black blouse and black pants.
Combining detail and drama, Miss Fisher wears a black blouse with a sheer yoke decorated with intricate beading in a geometric art deco pattern, extending from a central point and curving around to the back. The blouse has long sleeves and tight fitted cuffs, and two ribbons connected by a zig-zagging thread along her neckline (known as a fagoted seam).
The short-sleeve silk jacket worn on top adds a layer of subtle festivity to the look with bright green silk lining and a pattern of papyrus branches and reeds printed on the outside. A vintage piece, this been described as one of Essie Davis' favorite costumes:
“Another one of my favorite costumes is what I wore on the very first day of filming - to meet Murdoch Foyle (Phryne’s younger sister’s murderer) in jail. It was black silk pants with a little black top in sheer black chiffon with beading and a fantastic antique short-sleeved jacket in an orange, gold and black design that reminds me of a Margaret Preston painting." - Essie Davis, Miss Fisher’s Costume Exhibition
Margaret Preston was considered the most prominent female Australian artist of the 1920′s and 1930′s. In a desire to create art that reflected her country, she was the first non-indigenous artist to use Aboriginal elements in her paintings. Her “Still Life” from 1925 appeared in “Raisins and Almonds” (1x05) where Miss Fisher declares “Margaret Preston is a talent to watch”, and hangs to the left of her fireplace in her parlor.
Phryne finishes her look with her classic black silk faille pants, long green teardrop earrings (seen on the right in the exhibition photo), and a black beaded necklace that feature larger beads on either side of the central beaded fringe. During a quick trip out into the snow to investigate with Jack, she dons a black fur wrap, seen in 2x01.
A fabulous ensemble, we've seen this exact outfit (apart from the jewelry) in both "Raisins and Almonds" (1x05) and twice in "Death By Miss Adventure" (1x10).
Season 2, Episode 13 - "Murder Under the Mistletoe"
Screencaps from here, promo photos from the official Facebook (x, x, x, x, x) and various sources (x), jewelry photo from the National Trust Facebook, Margaret Preston painting photo from here, detail and comparison photos by me.

I'm not certain yet, but if I have the time, I may re-watch all the Murdoch Mysteries Christmas Specials during the Holidays. And if I do, I shall start with A Merry Murdoch Christmas, the very first one!

Infinite list of favourite lyrics: 229/?
Bobbie Gentry - Ode to Billie Joe (1967)
"And Papa said to Mama, as he passed around the black-eyed peas:
'Well, Billie Joe never had a lick of sense; pass the biscuits, please.
There's five more acres in the lower forty I got to plow'
And Mama said it was a shame about Billie Joe, anyhow.
Seems like nothin' ever comes to no good up on Choctaw Ridge
And now Billie Joe McAllister's jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge"
[...]
"Mama said to me, 'Child, what's happened to your appetite?
I've been cookin' all morning, and you haven't touched a single bite.
That nice young preacher, Brother Taylor, dropped by today
Said he'd be pleased to have dinner on Sunday - oh, by the way
He said he saw a girl that looked a lot like you up on Choctaw Ridge
And she and Billie Joe was throwin' something off the Tallahatchie Bridge'"
#favourite lyrics#bobbie gentry#ode to billie joe#1967#jimmie haskell#ode to billy joe#<- as this fairly regularly gets styled‚ tho Billie is correct and the spelling that appeared on the label originally#i overuse the term but i really think it's unavoidable here: this song is an absolute masterpiece of narrative songwriting#Gentry's ambition had only really been to work as a lyricist; she recorded this as part of her first demo‚ singing the songs herself#because it was cheaper than hiring a singer for the sessions. the demo grabbed the attention of Kelly Gordon at Capitol‚ who signed Gentry#and got to work producing her first album. the centre point of the album‚ and her first single‚ was to be Mississippi Delta; there wasn't#much interest in the Southern gothic tinged tale of secrets and 'unconscious cruelty' (as Gentry dubbed it) of Ode‚ and it was regarded#with little interest by Gordon (when arranger Haskell asked him what instruments he should add to Gentry's stripped down vocal and guitar l#the producer replied curtly that it didn't matter because nobody would ever hear it). Ode was assigned as b side to Mississippi Delta as#almost an afterthought‚ but this was the era in which US radio djs frequently chose which side of a single they wanted to play and the#unanimous decision was Ode; here was something special‚ a dark and tantalising mystery of a song obscured by the humdrum idle conversation#of an unthinking family. it ignited a kind of obsessive curiosity among listeners‚ desperate to find out what exactly the unnamed singer#and Billie Joe were throwing off the bridge‚ why did Billie Joe take his own life‚ why do the singer's gamily clearly not know about#their obvious relationship? Gentry‚ for her own part‚ resisted all attempts to glean further information about the actions of her song's#protagonist. she rightly tried to steer interested parties back towards what is arguably the real horror of the song‚ that unconscious#cruelty; a family that can eat and chatter and squabble even as they discuss the suicide of a boy they've known all their lives‚ even as#the clearly affected girlfriend of the boy (their own sister and daughter) sits in dumbstruck silence‚ unable to articulate her feelings#the original cut of the song ran more than 7 minutes and had to be mercilessly hacked down to fit a 45 single suitable length. no one had#expected much of anything from the song but it was to catapult Gentry to almost instant stardom; the forthcoming album was retitled after#the song that was now its focus; Ode went on to top the Billboard Hot 100‚ won a clutch of grammys and ended up selling more than 3 million#copies worldwide. Gentry had captured the imagination of a nation and beyond‚ but her success was tempered by legal challenges (from#producers demanding greater royalties) and a general dissatisfaction with her newfound stardom: it would last a little more than a decade#and include her own tv shows‚ more awards and smash hit singles; then just as suddenly as she'd shot to fame‚ Bobbie retreated from it#retiring from both the business and from public life. she hasn't made a public appearance since the early 80s‚ nor does she grant interview#but so what? if she's happy? i hope she's happy. she left us enough great music to enjoy. let her have her peace and quiet

The Dreams in the Black Lodge. Have been having weird dreams about the Black Lodge lately, sadly not strange or surreal enough to be considered Lynchian but more like that one time Scooby Doo did a parody of it weird. Perhaps it's a call to rewatch or/and increase caffeine consumption.

everyone here was soooo excited because a national channel was going to bring back this iconic tv series, directed specifically to the youth, from our childhood and adolescence that we are so nostalgic about after 11 years for them to disappoint us all with the trailer because it looks like elite 2.0

#they ruined morangos com açúcar i dont think you guys understand#this was supposed to be a cliché show with bad acting about students and dramas at school not a fucking disappearing mystery show#with parties and sex and whatnot 😭#they're making it release in 10 episode seasons like streaming shows too.... that's not morangos!!!!! anfngngnbg#the vibe is so different that it actually makes no sense why they would try to tie it with the other seasons plot and actors shsjshs#yes morangos had your occasional topics of teenage pregnancy and queerness and all that jazz but it was actually explored well#the way they're making girls kiss and parties happening and everything of those sorts in the new season is literally like any of those#spanish teenage shows with too much sex scenes and it's embarrassing actually.#the essence of our national tv is getting lost because they want to do stuff that 'sells' except morangos never sold because it was trendy#or even good because the acting was honestly not great. it was literally our company and part of our routine all year around almost#it was the show we would arrive from school to watch before dinner every day#we watched them experience the school year at the same time we did and on holidays there was a special summer edition#it was a whole thing that this new version isn't.#it was a novela directed for the youth and not whatever show they're trying to make and i'm so mad#i actually wanted to see it. morangos was special to so many of us everybody knows the songs everybody loves the artists that came from#that generation we all grew up watching it.... literally.#and capitalism strikes again 👍#the auditions were a joke too. they announced auditions for anyone who would like to because another thing about morangos is that it was#a talent factory it gave opportunity to newbie actors and pushed their careers and the new season has a bunch of already renown actors and#actresses and they didn't even care to hide how fake and rigged the public auditons were lol#anyways never building expectations about anything ever again this actually broke my heart man agjshs#i'm gonna mourn this listening to d'zrt 4taste and just girls ✊

🥳🥳🥳🤯🤯🤯🥳🥳🥳😏😏😏😃😃😃😃😃
STOOOOOOOOOOOKED 😆😆😆😆😆
THEY'RE DOING A CHUCKY HOUSE I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER BEEN ON A YEAR THAT THEY DID A CHUCKY HOUSE??!! (though i did go that one year where he took over the Terror Tram lololol that was so much fun ☺️☺️☺️)
Also can we just appreciate them doing not just the Phantom of the Opera, but also Jekyll and Hyde, the Invisible Man, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame??!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Like yes they always do a classic Universal Monsters house, but it's usually some combination of like Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Bride of the Monster, the Wolfman, with something like Creature from the Black Lagoon or The Mummy thrown in every now and then.
THESE ARE ALL UNCOMMON ONES THEY'RE DOING THIS YEAR THOUGH, GOOD FOR THEM!! 👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏
Unrelated note, not super excited about the Terror Tram theme (like these mutated bugs who are people exterminators or something??) but I appreciate that they're doing something different, I'll give them credit for that 👍
#hhn#hhn 2023#shitpost lol 😆#can't wait can't wait lolololol 😆😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣#this is like the opposite of last year lol last year was almost all original houses whereas this year it's almost all#how would you call it#licensed houses??#pre-existing IPs??#i actually kinda like their originals though it's kinda cool to see what they come up with#and it's kinda cool since it's not based on a movie/tv show you don't know what's gonna happen lol#but the pre-existing ones are cool too especially if you're a fan of the franchise 🖤🖤🖤#it's really cool to see one of your favorite movies come to life like that ☺️☺️☺️🖤🖤🖤#but last year they had one that was like this 1920s hotel that was cursed or haunted or something i forget lol but it was hella cool lol#i kinda like those ones#like the mystery/noir kinda style#knotts berry farm did a really cool one like that awhile back#the premise was this detective was tracking down this serial killer who was basing all their murders off of edgar allan poe stories/poems#while you waited in the queue line to go through the house they were playing these true crime documentary-style videos about the murders#it was really cool they did a lil extra like that it added to the ambiance lol 😆#also i know it's doubtful but i reeeally hope they do some sort of trick/special effect/animatronic for the Invisible Man#and not just#y'know#some dude in a trench coat and hat with a bunch of bandages on his face :/#like can you imagine if you see that and then this dude pulls off the bandages and then there's just *nothing there* 🤯🤯🤯😱😱😱#they're not gonna do that though 😮‍💨 but it's still cool that he's being included in the big show lololol 👍👍👍😤😤😤👍👍👍
