In today's health-conscious world, the quest for effective weight loss strategies is constant. Amidst the myriad of options available, the spotlight often falls on natural remedies and ancient practices.
Let's start our exploration with cinnamon, a beloved spice renowned for its warmth and sweetness. Beyond its role in adding depth to dishes, cinnamon harbors impressive weight loss benefits. Research suggests that cinnamon may help regulate blood sugar levels, thereby curbing cravings and reducing the risk of overeating. Furthermore, this aromatic spice has been linked to improved insulin sensitivity, potentially enhancing the body's ability to metabolize carbohydrates efficiently. Incorporating cinnamon into your daily routine can be as simple as sprinkling it over your morning oatmeal, stirring it into a cup of tea, or adding a dash to baked goods.
Harnessing the Heat of Cayenne Pepper: Next on our list is cayenne pepper, a spice notorious for its fiery heat and bold flavor. While its pungency may be intimidating, the benefits it offers for weight loss are undeniable. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, a compound that gives it its characteristic spiciness and also boasts metabolism-boosting properties. Studies have shown that capsaicin can increase thermogenesis, the process by which the body burns calories for heat production. Additionally, cayenne pepper may act as an appetite suppressant, helping to reduce calorie intake. Whether incorporated into savory dishes, sprinkled over roasted vegetables, or blended into smoothies, cayenne pepper can add a kick to your weight loss journey.
The Golden Glow of Turmeric: Moving forward, let's delve into the golden spice known as turmeric, celebrated for its vibrant color and earthy flavor. Beyond its culinary appeal, turmeric contains curcumin, a compound with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. While primarily recognized for its role in alleviating inflammation, curcumin may also support weight loss efforts. Research suggests that curcumin can help reduce fat tissue growth and improve insulin sensitivity, potentially leading to better weight management. Incorporating turmeric into your diet can be as simple as adding it to curries, soups, or golden milk, a comforting beverage made with turmeric and warm milk.
Embracing the Zest of Ginger: Last but not least, we have ginger, a versatile spice revered for its zesty flavor and myriad health benefits. Gingerol, the bioactive compound found in ginger, is responsible for its distinct taste and therapeutic effects. In addition to its anti-nausea and digestive properties, ginger has also been associated with weight loss. Studies indicate that ginger may help increase calorie burning and reduce feelings of hunger, making it a valuable tool for those striving to shed excess weight. Whether grated into stir-fries, brewed into tea, or incorporated into salad dressings, ginger adds a refreshing zest to dishes while supporting your weight loss goals.

Genshin Inspired Recipes #7 Yun Jin: Sweet Potato Chicken Curry
Hello, every birdie. Today we are going to be making a recipe that is not a dessert. And this recipe is yet another Instant Pot recipe. And again I am not exactly sure how to make this recipe on the stove or something similar. I apologize to those of you who don’t have an Instant Pot. I hope that you stay with the recipe. (At this point can you tell that I am in love with my Instant Pot?)
The character that is inspired by the recipe is a character by the name of Yun Jin (youn Gin). She is a geo character who lives in Liyue. She is an Opera star, who shares the stories of the past through opera.
The reason that this recipe is inspired by her is that one of her favorite food is “Curried Pork Dy Hot Pot.” And so I thought that this recipe was perfect for her.
The recipe and the measurements are going to be in the description down below.
The ingredients that you need for this recipe are differing. What I mean by this is you can use what you have on hand, and make it work.
The ingredients that are used in this recipe are:
Oil
Yellow onion
Garlic cloves
Chicken breasts (I used 2, and it was enough to feed a family of 7.)
Sweet Potatoes (again I used 2)
Bell Pepper,
Chicken Broth
Curry Powder (I only used 1 Tbsp + a little bit more, not as much as the recipe said. It still tasted really good.)
Cumin
Tumeric (I searched a substitute for tumeric and google told me that ground ginger was a good replacement.)
Cayenne peper
Salt
Coconut milk (I used a little bit of 2% milk and it tasted really good.)
Frozen Green beans (I used frozen corn and was really tasty.)
You are going to set the Instant Pot to the saute setting. You are then going to add your oil, onion, and garlic and saute them until the onions are translucent.
Once this happens, you are going to turn the Instant Pot to High Pressure. Now you are going to add your Chicken, sweet potatoes, pepper, brother, and spices.
Seal your Instant Pot and set the time for 10 minutes. It will take a little bit longer than 10 minutes because it has to build up pressure.
When curries time is up, carefully, release the pressure by switching the seal to vent. (oh... yeah I second this! Steam burns hurt so much. Didn't get burned from the Instant Pot, but did get burned from a rice cooker steam. And it left a serious scar. So be careful!!!)
Now you have to wait until all the steam is out of the Pot before taking off the lid.
You are going to turn your Instant Pot back to saute. Stir in the coconut milk or regular milk. You can add your frozen green beans now. However, I added the frozen corn with all of the other ingredients before, because they were still really frozen. I didn’t want any having a hard time eating dinner.
Before serving it you can add more curry and salt to your taste.
You can serve this over rice and it is really good.
This was one of the first dinners that I have done by myself. What I mean by this is that my mom really didn’t tell me what to do, and I was just following the recipe. I thought it was really good, and all of my family liked it. So I am very proud of myself.
I hope that you liked this recipe. Feel free to check it out for yourselves. See you in the next recipe. Thank You.

Spicy Lavis Chouta with Cremwhite Cream Sauce
Inspired by the recipes by Deana Whitney and by the menu on the coasters from the WoK Leatherbound Kickstarter, my first comprehensive attempt at chouta.
Disclaimer: I don't think sopapillas would hold up well as the main bread for this, and I prefer to use fry bread instead. I've never tried it, though, so it may work if the size is right.
Spicy Lavis
2 c cooked quinoa
1 can garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas)
2 tbsp rice flour (or chickpea flour, corn starch, all purpose flour)
your favorite curry spices, plus salt and pepper
Toast the quinoa with your spices in a dry pan or pot (can be the same vessel you'll cook the quinoa in) until fragrant. I used garam masala, tumeric, cayenne pepper, paprika, cumin, coriander, black pepper, and cinnamon. Let your nose and the spirits of Herdazian chortanas guide your hand.
Cook the quinoa according to package directions
Drain the beans, keeping the liquid
Puree the beans in a food processor or blender until smooth. Add spoonfulls of the liquid if needed. Add salt to taste.
Combine the cooked quinoa and pureed beans. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Form tight balls with your hands. This will make about 24 tablespoon-sized balls.
Fry until crispy. Or brush with oil and bake at 375F for 8-10 minutes.
Fry Bread
4 c all purpose flour
4 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 c hot water
Mix the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer.
Add the water and mix until the dough forms a cohesive ball. The dough should be soft, not sticky.
Divide the dough into 8 pieces.
Knead each piece a few times, adding flour to your hands and work surface if the dough is sticking
Roll out to about 1/8th of an inch
Fry until golden brown on both sides (will require flipping)
Cremwhite Cream
Use any mayonnaise, salted or spiced yogurt! I personally did not like plain sour cream with this, but crema might be better.

Behold! My Final Fantasy VIII-themed Dinner
In case anyone is curious...
Cocktail - Quezacotl's Thunderstorm
Pretty simple - Vodka, orange juice, (meyer) lemon juice, and plain seltzer served in a light-up novelty glass. (not pictured: the logo on one side for the Christmas event it came from LOL
Appetizers - Mini Hot Dogs and a Balamb Garden Salad
Each ingredient of this salad is representative of a different enemy that you fight in Balamb Garden at some point. There's iceberg lettuce (glacial eye), Radicchio (Grat), grape tomatoes (Bombs - the red ones are literally called sugar bombs), honey goat cheese (Granaldo), candied walnuts (raldo), green goddess dressing (green like caterchipillar), and tajin (something with a bite for bite bugs). I think this would have come together better if I had made the dressing, but I will be happy to have this for the lunch for the rest of the week.
The mini hot dogs were frozen from a box lol.
Side Dishes - Malboro Tentacles and Mashed Norg
The Malboro Tentacles are extremely tender, slowly cooked asparagus with A LOT of garlic (need that bad breath), and some chili flakes for spice. I also threw in some soy sauce for color. This is exactly how I imagined they would be when I set out to make them, so I am pretty happy about it.
Norg - pointless boss, great side dish. These are pretty basic buttermilk mashed potatoes but I wanted to maximize the yellowness. I used yukon gold potatoes (even peeled them, which I never usually do), a dash of tumeric, and lots of butter. That wasn't quite yellow enough so I dug to the back of my spice cabinet and found the saffron I was given as a gift and can never seem to find a meal special enough to use it for. HONESTLY, these were so good. Definitely going to do this again.
Entree - T-Rexuar Steak
I was REALLY worried making these. I've made steak before but I usually use pretty simple seasoning. But for a T-Rexaur, I wanted the outside of the steak to be reminiscent of a T-Rexuar hide. So I actually marinaded the steak in a Tikka-like sauce (paprika, cayenne, tumeric, ginger, garlic, lemon, yogurt) because I was looking for redness. I have NEVER put yogurt on steak before - YIKES what a risk. When I took them out to come to room temperature before cooking them, I patted excess marinade off and added a generous amount of salt, paprika, chili powder and garlic in hopes of creating a redish crust. Then I seared them.
Guys. I don't know if it was the marinade or what but this is some of the best steak I've ever made... or even had. The crust was excellent and the steak was so tender. Def getting a permanent +1 to strength for this one.
Stay tuned for dessert!

saw you posting about spiciness earlier, was it you who posted the recipe for the "virgin hot toddy" on your old blog? if so, could you repost that recipe? ive been stopped up as a motherfucker for days and at this point all i want is to be absolved in a great and purifying flame
Yes that was definitely me
Here is my Hot Toddy recipe, which is designed to destroy your esophagus with purifying flames so that any cold/flu throat pain you're experiencing becomes irrelevant
INGREDIENTS
Tea of choice (ideally something soothing to the throat like echinacea or licorice, but it doesn't matter because you won't be able to taste it)
Cayenne pepper
Dried hot pepper, dealer's choice
Ground ginger and/or tumeric
Apple cider vinegar
Lemon juice
Honey
Whiskey (Fireball if you hate yourself)
At least 5 cloves of garlic
STEPS
Put on hot water til it boils
Crush the garlic and let it sit in open air for 10 minutes (I read somewhere that this preserves some antibacterial chemical or other, no goddamn clue if this is true).
Pour your boiling water over the tea bag and garlic and spices and let sit for a while
Don't remove the garlic. You have to drink it with the garlic.
Add everything else besides the alcohol
Wait until it's cool enough to drink and add your whiskey/Fireball last (so that the alcohol isn't broken down too much by the heat.) You are going to want to be drunk for what is to come.
Stir
Consume
#The absolute bare minimum for this to still count as my method is tea with garlic + cayenne + honey + booze#Anything less and you are fully straying from the path of righteousness#I really encourage you to use Fireball because it helps if this beverage sucks ass as much as possible#If you don't drink alcohol substitute with extra ACV#Or perhaps nyquil

Gen’s Butter Chicken
Part 1 (Prep)
Ingredients
One large package of boneless, skinless thighs (Note: about 8 whole thighs should feed four and/or give you 4-5 meals if you’re prepping ahead of time)
2tbsp of:
Minced garlic
Ground cayenne
Ground tumeric
Curry powder
Ground coriander
Ground cardamom
One cup of lemon juice (you can cheat and use lime)
Two tsps of:
Ground cloves
Smoked paprika
Ground cinnamon
Ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cups sour cream
Note: Every single ingredient here can be found at Walmart. You don’t have to cook like you’re a guru on top of some mountain where every recipe is a revelation from God. Cook and eat. And see that it is good.
Directions:
Cut chicken into a-little-bigger-than-bite-sized chunks. Don’t stress, this doesn’t have to be perfect. They don’t have to be perfect little cubes. Once that’s done, put that into an airtight container and then mix in your seasonings that were listed already as well as the lemon or lime juice and the sour cream.
You can use yogurt as most recipes call for but as we eat low carb for my mom’s diabetes, I’m using sour cream.
Get your hands in there and mix this up. Massage them thighs. Get ‘em all slathered like you’re a 90’s mom of four headed to Disney World in July and you’ve got SPF 4000 and them thighs are your youngins. Seal them up and refrigerate all night long. The longer they marinate, the more tender and flavorful they’ll be.
And tomorrow, the rest of the cooking will be posted ☺️
#gen cooks#recipes from the general’s log#butter chicken part 1#butter chicken#meal prep#this is just what you’re going to want to do in order to get your meat ready#the rest will be along ;)

a simple prawn curry recipe in case you like seafood:
fry some onions and then add some vegetables of choice, bell peppers for instance, and fry them too. I usually also add garlic. Once they're soft, add paprika, tumeric, cayenne pepper, black pepper and salt according to taste (you can pre-mix in a cup to smell/taste if it's right for you). Add a can of coconut milk and bring to a simmer, add the prawns, let them simmer for a bit (depends on how thick you want the currey to be) and add lemon juice, that's it
Alternatively, a lentil curry that's also really good:
cook 200g red lentils with some added tumeric (some froth forms at the surface which you can remove). Add a can of tomatoes, cayenne pepper, salt, and coriander and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, fry mustard and cumin seeds in oil (briefly, until they pop) and then add onions. Fry them too (together with any other vegetables you may wish to add, I usually add leek), then add ginger and garlic and basil or curry leaves (about 10 leaves I'd say but according to taste), fry briefly, and add to the lentil mixture, stir and you're done. I recommend eating this one with greek yoghurt (and rice of course) since the curry itself doesn't contain any dairy; it adds a nice contrast
You're a GEM. Little guy loves seafood so i'm definitely making the prawn recipe!

hi. i just realized i can pre-make my popcorn dust instead of opening up 7 containers every time. i type it up in case you want to try
@whifferdills' cheezy popcorn sprankle
100 g nutritional yeast 20 g salt 10 g onion powder 10 g garlic powder 10 g MSG 5 g tumeric 1 g cayenne
notes: i used kosher salt because i appear to have put my table salt in fucking Narnia. either is fine. table mixes in more evenly and the iodide is helpful if you eat a plant-based diet and don't particularly enjoy seaweed. spice levels are based on me & my bitchbaby mouth; increase to taste, though i find cayenne gets bitter quickly so maybe find an alternative if you want this to rip your tits off. MSG is optional but then it wouldn't be a Whifferdills Recipe i put that shit in everything lmao. i suspect mustard powder would do some work here but i don't keep it in house because i know how much it costs from the restaurant vendor vs how much a teeny little tin costs at the grocery store, and fuck that, nah lol. anyway. bong applebees!
