What happened to the other 36 children that were born on October 1st 1989?
Why is Reginald Hargreeves an alien?
Why did Abigail say "Thanks for protecting me on the moon" to Luther?
Why was Jennifer inside a squid?
What happened to Sloane when all the others got to another timeline?
Without the comics, there are still so many questions left unanswered in the umbrella academy show itself.. and it's driving me crazyyy

so, yeah. um. about that new timeline. i think it'll probably be destroyed by another kugelblitz, lol.
since the umbrella academy saved allison's and lila/diego's kids by transporting them to the new & original timeline, i think the umbrella academy inadvertently caused the grandfather paradox to happen, again.
meaning the new universe would have been annihilated by a kugelblitz, again.
this is because if lila, diego, and allison never existed in this new timeline to give birth to their kids, their kids should not exist in this new timeline.
so much for saving humanity, i guess. ✌️☂️

Between Viktor getting fire powers,
Five's teleportation color being different,
And Ben having Doc Ock tentacles now,
I think there's gonna be a thing of them trying to get their powers back and them being slightly different. Maybe that also explains why Klaus (at least appears to be) floating?
I think Klaus is gonna be the one to try and find a way to get their powers back.
Walk with me.
There's the fact that we see him doing an actual seance:
And every season thus far, we have a Hargreeves obsessing over something, corresponding to the season number (Luther trying to find out how Reggie died, Diego trying to save JFK, and Allison trying to get Claire back).
There's ALSO a bit of Klaus breathing in a plastic bag. Maybe it's because he no longer has immortality and now knows how many times he's died before, so he's not taking any chances:
It also works on a character development standpoint: he goes from hating his powers to the point of numbing it with drugs and alcohol to wanting them back. It could ALSO ALSO explain why all the powers are slightly different. Maybe he tried to get the powers back but slightly different? So he can have immortality without the ghosts. Because of that, everyone's powers are slightly different.
This might just be the ramblings of a madwoman but I think I'm onto something

I know the running fan theory now is that Five's "real" name is Max, but my personal headcanon will always be that Five's name was Quinn/Quincy which means fifth son.
Cause like get it: Five's name would LITERALLY mean five!
Idk that just seems like something he would do if he had to pick a "normal" name.

𐙚LET'S TALK ABOUT... DIEGO, LILA & FIVE
Okay, firstly I need to state that I'm going to say my impressions about the season four of The Umbrella Academy, focusing on the subway plotline. My considerations are very long (I'm talkative!) and about what I watched in the episodes and what I read on social media, so, I am totally open to opinions too!!
As an hyperfocused girl, I've been thinking about the subway arc plot decision during an absurd amout of time. I watched it a few times and read a lot of opinions. Yet, I still feel a little... surprised (?) by the intense hate over it.
It's not about liking or disliking the new couple that I'm talking about. Since naturally people would prefer one ship over another, it was obviously waited that the opinions would be divided.
I just... can't understand why people hated it so much as if it was a bad plot decision. Diego and Lila are beautiful together, i agree! They have a long, real and strong love story together. But why people are acting like this new plotline erased all their relationship together? Relationships are more complex than that.
Feelings are more complex than that. Humans are.
Actually, I may say that the psychological development that happens in the subway is way more interesting because Lila and Diego love each other, as much as Five loves Diego too.
This being said, I don't mean that I think a cheating plotline is interesting because of the cheating. I actually use to dislike it a lot. However, dealing with cheating in a black-and-white way as if it's an indefendible action is not clever. Sometimes, some things I read make me realize that people are so stuck into traditional morals that their capacity of thinking and analyzing complex emotional situations is kind of... damaged.
𝐒𝐨... 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐗 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐨 𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐗 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞?
The Umbrella Academy is known as a series with very human and complex characters. That's what makes it so good, from the beginning! That's why I think it's kind of sad to judge their relationship with a typical moral view.
Claiming that Lila didn't deserve Diego, for example is so... so sad. She was an amazing mother and wife. She tried to go back to them for six years and as soon as she could she went back! Not even thinking twice! She loves Diego, of course she does!
Loving Five doesn't make her love for Diego less strong.
I really don't think Lila X Five is just neediness, however, no way. They already spent two seasons constructing a beautiful (friend) relationship before and in this horrible context they spent a lot of time taking care of each other, being each other's support. Considering this and their communication development — jokes on season 3, kindness in the beginning of season 4 — it's not surprising or nonsense that it turned to become romantic. People and relationships change, love is built and adapted.
I don't think Lila stopped loving Diego (i mean romantically, but even if she did, she surely didn't in other ways of loving that are as beautiful as it is) but that doesn't make her love for Five false, and Five loving and having a relationship with her doesn't make him a bad brother either. That's why I emphasized that TUA is a series with complex relationships. Why do you get upset and surprised when another relationship between complicated characters is built due to the tragedies of the script?
If this didn't cause outrage before, could it cause because, this time, when things get complicated, the plot resource used questions the standard romantic drama format expected by the system?
𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭? 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫?
I guess one of the main arguments I saw was that their relationship didn't make any sense and that their scenes were extremely out of character, but I don't think it could be sustained when they both are characters who go through a lot that makes them change, alone or together. What they're claiming being out of character may simply be character development under non-ideal circumstances.
It seems like there's an strong resistance to open their minds while watching and realize that love isn't something that can only happen once and/or once at a time and under ideal situations. Diego and Lila's marriage crisis, Five and Lila developing ther friendship inbetween work cumplicity, Five looking more lost and tired in his decisions than before, the fact that it is the second time he has been trapped in space-time — which is a big trauma for him, since, from the first season (in the first apocalypse) we have been shown that, despite being introverted, arrogant and reserved, it is precisely "relating" that serves as a point of refuge for Five not to go crazy, lowering his guard and being kind...
All of this constructs very well their psychological coherency. "He wouldn't treat her like that during season 2 or 3!", "Lila would never be a domestic mother/ Five wouldn't work do CIA!". Well, we're talking about them now, not there.
One of the plot decisions to start this season was that the characters were living between what they kind-of-desired, but things still weren't fine, they still weren't getting what they wanted.
Five being free from the world-ending, but stll not being able to relax and live a simple retired life as he wanted. Klaus being sober and free of the ghosts, but insecure and anxious. Allison having Claire and Ray, but still unable to live a happy marriage and career. Viktor having his place working with something that makes him comfortable, but still unable to find love. Diego and Lila having a family and marriage and still unable to feel happy because the domestic work dynamic wasn't working...
Adulthood. Real life. None of those situations were out of character, as much as none of the psychological changes they suffered were too.
𝐀 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦
Since I don't really see the point on why would all of the happenings between them three could be claimed as "nonsense", even less "unasked" or "unnecessary" — because it's a work of fiction and, even if it may not be what the public wants to watch, it is not something that needs to prove its usefulness, just as events (that tie together well, because coherency matters) do not need to prove their necessity in art —, so it makes me even more sad that clearly mostly of the reactions are based on conservative views of marriage.
I know this season is not perfect, and it had a lot of defects, so I'm not saying the arc is perfect. As all the other arcs, it happened in a hurry, making us the public less abl to feel the 7 years of development. Complaining about how the arc was executed is perfectly fine, actually: after all, we know that 4 episodes were cut from the original script, as were many recorded scenes (including a big part of the subway plotline).
AIDAN: "There's a lot of the relationship with Lila that we filmes but they cut it. It took weeks to film it and they used a few minutes in a montage. That wasn't right. It also made very hard for the viewers to believe when we spent weeks filming scenes to set up that scenario."
But when I bring the conservatism theme (misoginy and remnants/consequences of the monogamous religious structure), it's because, even if we have lots of other of worse defects on other parts of the season, the biggest public overreacting opinions have been undoubtly about Five and Lila.
Anyone who spends more than 2 minutes in the comments on Twitter, Tiktok or even here knows that most of the time people've been sad and angry treating them both as if they were turned into cheaters with no morals (Five as a new kind of scroundrel asshole, Lila as some kind of ungrateful whore and I've even seen people problematizing their enemies phase, or the age difference as if one of then, or even the director, were predators, which is pure nonsense) and I can't even express how it makes me deeply melancholic.
I can't see how reacting as if the situations they were put in and their actions toward it in the scripts were absurd, terrible and dumb can't be just conservative, because they were actually very well tied script decisions, used in a bold way. With an interesting and well written enemies to frenemies to friends to lovers trope, they managed to write something fun and that developed both of the characters in their early-season-conflicts-arising-from-other-seasons.
𝐒𝐨? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐂𝐞𝐂𝐞?
I truly just... Can't understand how some people ended up having collectively such insensitive opinions about the relationship of two characters who were so... vulnerable.
Non-ironically I even saw a lot of people defending they would prefer Five to end up with a “real life Dolores” plotline (since the author felt the need of a romance) than with Lila, or that he shouldn't ever fall in love with anyone else than Dolores. It sounds so... Insane. I can't see how someone can have any kind of shipping-affection for his "sick" relationship with Dolores. It was, for me, a completely heartbroken arc.
While watching this new season, actually, it made me almost warmly happy, as a Five fan, to see him having someone to take care of him in hard times like that. Last time he didn't have it. They loved each other, they constructed this love and even if it was constructed under a refuge, extremely vulnerable situation, as much as even if it was constructed over a hopeless and trust-breaking decision towards their loved Diego, it doesn't make it less real and beautiful.
They aren't bad people. They aren't cheaters. They were desperate.
I'm happy they found love in each other. They were victims but managed to construct a beautiful relationship to survive and it doesn't make them love less Diego, as a brother or as a lover.
Of course it breaks completely my heart that Diego and Five died without making peace, but while watching not even for a moment I considered that they stopped loving each other. They're brothers, they've went through a lot.
They were doing so fine getting along together since they came back from the apocalypse.... There's no way it would "destroy" and "erase" (terms used by some fans) all the progress that's been made... I think it would be a very shallow interpretation of their relationship and a very futile interpretation of the events. Some of the public is seeing the situation as if Five slept with his wife since the beginning, not as if he had felt in love with her in a very apocaliptical and hopeless situation.
It's essential to remember that nothing said romantic happened for six years. It turned this way only after they having practically given up hope of returning home, so exhausted they were.
I really don't think that such a desperate and lonely situation would erase all the love and dedication Diego have for Five (and Five has no reasons to stop feeling it for Diego too, obviously). Diego was totally the sweetest during this season, he did his best, but Five did too... Now they fought but it doesn't mean their relationship would be forever broken. They were both stressed out, of course, it was a sensitive situation. But, i don't think it would... However with an apocalypse going on, they just didn't have enough time.
Diego was clearly open to understand Lila better, so I really doubt he wouldn't try to do the same with Five. But, again, they were both heart broken, hot headed and with no time. It's sad and it affect them, but "destroy and erase" are very heavy terms and inconsistent with the context of their relationships.
I don't know. I don't know how to conclude this analysis. I just… Am sorry. I honestly feel lucky to have been able to experience Diego, Lila and Five, but I'm so sorry that I couldn't see these three hearts find peace in their complicated loves, even during their final moments. These are three very beautiful love relationships that grew up tangled up and that, unfortunately, couldn't unfold in time to hurt less their lovers.
It felt wonderful and desolate. I hope more people can feel it like i did.

Speaking of Klaus clothes- I‘m still denying the existence of S4 buuuut.. People hating his outfits in this season so much and how they don’t fit his character.. y’all must be very cis het or living in a very nice community!
Everything Klaus does (the gloves, the mask the extremely cautious behavior) is because hes mortal now and afraid to die.
Now, if I know anything than that- there is a very unsafe thing and that is to be a queer/ gender nonconforming person deressing flamboyant out in this world. Sad as it is, but it puts a huge target right on your back. We had scenes, like the cowboy bar in the sixties, were Klaus should have been very worried because his appearance triggert the customers hate, but he was not because its just Klaus. Like he wasn’t afraid of falling of a rooftop and so on and so forth.
But s4 Klaus would in my opinion be very aware of the danger of such situations and dress to not draw any attention and get in dangerous situations.
So no, I don’t like the hate on his s4 Clothes. I miss the typical Klaus style, ofc. But I also miss my typical style every time I have to dress down to feel safe. Sadly thats the reality for queer people though. So thats just something that needed to be said

Rewatching The Umbrella Academy and the very ending of season 2 when they meet the Sparrows, Ben’s hair is down all emo-like. In the first episode of season 3, Ben’s hair is spiked up instead…
Like obviously they shot these scenes are different times. But that’s such a consistency error??
Did they completely forget what Ben looked like even though they got everyone else correct???
Everyone is standing in the same exact positions, same clothes and everything, EXCEPT BEN!
WHY???
Because of this I choose to believe it was purposeful and clueing us into the “fact” that between the seasons, in 1 moment, the Audience’s timeline switched and season 3 and 4 is some completely different universe that we don’t have to worry about! Problem solved!!
But seriously, this inconsistency bothers the hell out of me… am I crazy?

So in general Umbrella Academy tends to gravitate to a base color that is shown the most each season. Season 1's color was definitely blue, and season 2 was arguably also a blue color. Probably blue-green. In general, both were cool colors. Part of the heavy tone shift from the first 2 seasons to season 3 was the color change. Season 3's main colors was an orange yellow, and it's heavily in the background even more. With the apocalypse literally being right outside it's even more obvious. The change to a warm color group being primarily shown helped to show how different this apocalypse was from the first two
#Color theory my beloved#I'd be willing to bet season 4's main color is purple#just from the change in colors from their powers#but i wouldn't be surprised if it was back to blue#back where they started ya know#tua#the umbrella academy#color theory

Okay so I noticed in the promo that Viktor doesn't join in with Allison and Luther here.
But I just presumed that was because he wasnt there when Ben died. Diego is offscreen but I thought he was also speaking, but listening back it's definitely just Allison and Luther's voices. And then this is from the in character recap posted on instagram -
Again it's just Allison and Luther.
Which is interesting in and of itself, but it becomes increasingly so when you consider that this was Allison and Luther at Ben's funeral.
While Luther didn't speak up, considering he was so devoted to being Reginald's Number One, for him to even give his father the stink eye was as good as active subordination on his part.
Reginald's speech to the children at Ben's funeral, while callous and cruel, was designed to try and make them a better team, by using shame and guilt as a motivator (obviously it backfiresmd since the academy disbanded shortly after this). Luther is still loyal enough to buy Reginald's version of events where they are to blame...
...but, as I said him willing to throw stink eye shows there were some cracks appearing in his blind faith and approval of his father. Additionally he was closest to Allison so if anyone was likely to sway him and make him think their father is wrong it was her. And if she couldn't sway him there was always the possibility of her using her power to convince him.
This was a problem for Hargreeves, he can't have the leader of the team and his daughter, who is basically capable of mind control, turn against him.
The others seem to be more or less in line. Diego seemed to think they were somewhat culpable based on his response to Viktor saying it was no one's fault.
And, even before he secretly conjured Ben, Klaus didn’t seem interested in fighting over blame so, as far as Hargreeves was concerned he wasn't a threat to his leadership or the stability of the team.
And Viktor wasn't there when Ben died so he didn't know what happened any way and it's not like his siblings held his words in high regard.
So what if he did something to manipulate Allison and Luther's memories to bring them in line and believe it was their fault? Fed them the line about them failing as a team.
It seems none of the siblings know the exact details of Ben's death so it could be that Reggie wiped Klaus and Diego's minds for good measure too, but it could also be that, while they were on the mission they didn't actually see how Ben died, just the aftermath. Klaus was the lookout after all (and likely drunk or high or both) and maybe Diego was tied up in a fight.
Or maybe Hargreeves brainwashed Allison and then had her rumour the others.
Either way when you think about it, we've heard them say very little about Ben's death and what they have said is incredibly vague.
There's this exchange between Viktor and Five -
(Viktor nods in response to this but you can't really convey that in a screen cap 😅)
And then there's this exchange between Klaus and Ben
So the closest we get to specifics is that it was 'bad' and it was 'violent', which tells us nothing really.
Or maybe Ben didn't die violently on a mission, maybe Hargreeves implanted that information in their minds from the start. When in reality whatever that is happening to Ben in season 4 was happening to Ben at 17. After all the one other person we see in the trailer experiencing anything similar to Ben is this woman, widely presumed to be Jennifer. Her having the same symptoms as Ben suggests she has something to do with him causing the apocalypse.
At Ben's funeral Hargreeves mentioned during his eulogy that they'd been training for weeks for the mission Ben died on. What if, during said training, he realised that something would happen which would cause Ben to cause the apocalypse and so he killed him in advance and planted a memory of a failed mission in the kids' heads somehow? I don't know how he manipulated their memories but maybe whatever method he used didn't allow for much specific details so he just implanted that it was gruesome and violent. Maybe even named it the Jennifer incident then and there so as to give them a way to refer to it that didn't require them to refer to the mechanism of Ben's death. But maybe he didn't account for Allison not seeing it as their fault or how Luther might support her. So he had to meddle with their minds further, to get them to stay in line, which is why they are the two siblings who spout the line about them having failed as a team.

what the emojis might mean (inferring from the teaser)
luther: 🕺 in the trailer, we see Luther at a party, in a ballpit (Luther Dashcon era?), and in an astronaut outfit. Someone mentioned that his name tag at one point says “Fred”. Could be perhaps be employed as a children’s party entertainer? Or a dancer?
diego: 📦 ok I’m not sure what this means. In the trailer he’s at a kids party (his daughter’s?) and he owns a van. Potentially delivery driver vibes?
allison: 🧑🧒 this one is obvious. She’s mother and probably reunited with Claire since that was her goal the whole time in S3.
klaus: 🧽 Either he works cleaning something or he became a huge germaphobe after his powers were reversed - in the teaser he wears a mask and gloves too.
five: 🕵️♂️ investigation!! He may be investigating how to go back to the OG timeline, or whatever was happening in the subway.
ben: 🔒 in the teaser he was coming out of somewhere with a paper bag. In the promo poster, one of the subway/time lines has a point reading “Ben is released”. Maybe from some kind of a facility? At the end of season 3 he was on a metro/train iirc.
viktor: 🍺 in the teaser it looks like he’s a bartender, so this is pretty easy to figure out.
lila: 🍼 this one is quite obvious too, Lila is mother & just had a child. Although the teaser I think reveals that Allison and Lila are going to go through something together?
reginald: 🧠 maybe a reference to how the whole universe is basically his brainchild and creation, or a reference to the “Hargreeves Home for Wayward Boys”? Which would also by extension be from his mind.
what do you guys think about the emojis?? Some of them are really cryptic but some are very simple.

Theory for The Umbrella Academy Season 4.
I think Diego is going to die, here is why.
1. He is well liked. He may not be the favourite, but he places in a spot where it would hurt if he died, but not as much as someone like 5 or Viktor.
2. If I am remembering correctly, Lila is pregnant. This means Diego is about to become a father. He wants them to be a happy family.
3. In shows like this, it is not uncommon for a main character to die in the final season.
4. It can't be 5, Viktor or Klaus. They are generally the favourites. Five is the favourite, Viktor is very powerful but also essentially the main character and Klaus is another the favourite, and can't die. He did lose his powers at the end of season 3, but in the Trailer we 5, Viktor and Ben using their powers, so it is safe to say that Klaus can no longer die, again. See the next 3 images.
5. In the trailer we see Lila and five hugging and Lila is sobbing as if someone close to her died. The only time these two, the adversaries, would hug is if someone close to both of them died. AKA Diego! See the following image

One thing I’m thinking about since s4 is the squid, and I have a theory.
( I don’t know much about the comics but I’m doing my best )
So Ben’s powers is that he has a portal in his stomach he use to summon creatures of different dimensions, so I think it makes some sense he could pass things trough his portal, right?
Said that, my theory is that some Ben of some timeline met Jennifer a bit earlier than the one we know, but before his dad k1ll him, he summoned a giant squid and, knowing how to control it in some level, made it “swallow” Jennifer so she would be in other dimension with more chances to be safe. And that’s why she was found inside that squid.
I don’t know how to express this idea very good, but I wish you can understand what I’m trying to say. If you have anything to point to prove my theory wrong, I’d like to discuss this topic bc this though is consuming my mind
