So I’ve revamped this list and turned it into a Page on my blog, so that no matter how many times I update it and even if you’re coming from a reblogged version of this post, you’ll always see the most recently updated version.

• some interactions will be greyed out until requirements are met (i.e. your sim needs a romantic relationship to be able to ask someone on a date)
• animation isn't perfect but i hope it's good enough
• ts2 and ts3 phone require main package (awingedllama_FunctionalWallPhone) to work

► 4t3 - Island Living - Mermaid Stuff - DF & non-DF
Alright, so...this is not as much a conversion as it is a mash up (a.k.a. Frankenmesh). Here’s what I mean by that:
- Meshes: I took the tails from TS3 and combined them with the fins from TS4 (because the S4 tails have a different UV and in order to fit TS3 they would’ve needed to be re-UV-mapped);
- Textures: a combination of TS3 and TS4 textures -TS3 for tails and TS4 for fins (only because the S4 textures look horrendous in TS3, at least the ones for tails do).
PLEASE READ the details I listed under CREATOR NOTES bellow !!! 
Details:
Original meshes by EA/Maxis, I just put them together;
Ages: Teen to Elder, both genders;
All LODs & Morphs;
Disabled for random (for non-defaults);
Custom normal maps included;
Custom thumbnails for both Launcher and CAS (though the game might ignore them and generate normal thumbnails instead;
Format: package files;
Programs: S4Studio, Blender, Milkshape, Photoshop, MeshToolKit, TSRW, S3PE.
!!! The Sims 3 Island Paradise required (for everything except the male tops, those are base game).
What does this upload contain? (so glad you asked!)
2 mermaid tails named Fin One and Fin Two (DF & non-DF) from TS4;
2 female tops - non-DF - these were made by me because of -again- questionable textures n TS4 that don’t match TS3 art-style;
1 male top (converted from TS4 <-> non-DF because by design the male mermaids in TS3 don’t have a default mermaid top);
1 (pair of) stockings - DF M & F (made by me; will replace the “markings” your mermaid sims have on their legs while on land).
EDIT: On a anon's request,  I added a NON-DF version for the accessory scales. It's base game compatible, has 3 presets with 3 recolorable channels and is available for both genders from teen to elder.
Edit 16.07.2023: uploaded the male kelp top as accessory as requested by @dezailes2cochon. 
!!! FOR Default Replacements install only ONE OF EACH !!!
Polycounts:
Tails AF: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.6k)
Tails AM: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.1k)
Tails TF: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.6k)
Tails TM: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.1k)
Tails EF: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.5k)
Tails EM: Fin One - 1.9k; Fin Two - 1.7k (original - 1.1k)
Tops: same polycount as the original TS3 items (they’re just painted on the base mesh)
! The reason why I listed the polycounts like this is because it’s up to you to decide whether you’re comfortable using:
the default-replacements (and have all the mermaid sims in town use these items); or 
the non-default-replacements (in which case only your sims will use them as long as you’ve changed them in CAS). 
Specific Details (for non-defaults):
Tops, bottoms and accessories sections;
Presets: 
Tails: 5 presets; 4 recolorable channels
Tops Female: 5 presets each, 4 recolorable channels
Top male: 3 presets; 3 recolorable channels
Mermaid Stockings: 5 presets; 3 recolorable channels
Categories: Everyday, Sleepwear, Swimwear, 
Available for Maternity (female versions).

!!! Attn !!! -> The default replacement tails and female tops use only the first preset because I haven’t found a way to integrate additional maps (UVs, in this case) to a default replacement.

Creator Notes:
Here’s where it gets interesting!
If you decide on using the DFs - INSTALL ONLY ONE OF EACH!!!!!!!
And to give you an example, here’s how I’m using the default replacements: Fin One for females (the DF files for TF, AF& EF), Fin Two for males (the DF files for TM, AM & EM), stockings for both genders (DF female & DF male).
As I said above the DF files have only the first preset. The non-DF have 5 presets, each with their own individual UV. Meaning I’ve made patterns out of the UVs to better emulate the patterns on the S4 tails. See bellow the difference in UVs and how they control the channels. It’s applicable to both tails and female tops. This is the only advantage of using the non-DFs in my opinion. But you can have both DFs (only one of each!!!) & non-DFs in your game at the same time and maybe use one of the patterns in the non-DF for that one “special” mermaid.

The stockings aren’t the best aligned to the UV, I’ll admit it. But any misalignments (only along the seams) can only be noticed if you look closely.
This appears to be a common issue when installing default-replacements (you’ll know this if you have DF hairs in your game). Upon loading the DFs for the first time you might encounter a texture issue where you can see the new mesh, but the texture has not loaded properly. Like in this example:

To fix it, you either take the sim in CAS with Nraas MC - Stylist (you don’t need to change anything, just get them in and out of CAS) and/or -if that doesn’t work- go ahead and save, quit and reload the game. This should fix the issues. 
For NON-DF tails it’s mandatory that you use invisible feet This is what I’m using: 1 or 2 (find the null feet files inside the download). But keep in mind that because of the way the package was constructed, Dashboard might display them as corrupted. That’s because of the age categories being all in one file and not separated. Haven’t caused issues in my game so far and I've been using them since December. Anyway, the important thing is you need invisible feet for NON-DFs.

I know this community is small, and therefore doesn't get as much love and attention as it deserves, but know that it is alive and well, much like my love for it, and it's many thanks to these ppl for keeping it fresh and fun even today.
@simtanico literally what would my sims be without you and your amazing sliders, slider fixes, and conversions.
@rollo-rolls you always work so hard to keep our sims looking stylish, I know a lotta people in this community appreciate you as much as I do!
@johziii you put so much love into your CC as you do your sims, homes and gameplay, you're truly the whole package!

TSR CC Recommendations: TS2 Lot Builders
Nobody asked for this but I have a little time on my hands and I said I might do it, so here is a list of some TSR lot builders who I recommend checking out. A few notes under the cut before we get started (all details under the cut, as well, in case you aren't interested in my preamble):
This is not meant to be paid promotion for TSR. I believe TSR asking users to pay for their CC is ridiculous, especially for a 19 year old game they haven't supported in 7 years. But I spent many years uploading there during the peak-TS2 / pre-TS3 era and know there is great CC in their archives that newer players may not know about. And unlike TheSims2.com, which has sadly shuffled off this mortal coil, TSR's content is still available to freely download (assuming you can stomach the pop-ups and wait times)
This post will only be about lot builders because that was what I was primarily uploading and downloading in this era. I was friendly with some of the creators I am about to list, but none of them are still active members of the TS2 community.
The preview pics might be a little rough and the architecture styles will likely feel very dated compared to the most popular styles these days, which are more colorful, cluttered, and use 3t2 and 4t2 conversions. Re: the previews: too many of us were using free trials of PaintShopPro back then, and TSR limited us to 2 previews, so we did our best. Re: the styles: unlike pre-2010's CAS CC, which was full of hand painted and "realistic" textures (LOL), these are the same objects you can find in the game today, just being used in different ways! Sometimes for the first time! And, yes, while some of these creators used CC, it was mostly Homecrafter walls and floors, as you'll see below.
This was also the hey-day of CFE lot building, which has certainly fallen out of favor to more traditional builds (in part because graphics cards have improved and these types of builds don't look as good in 2024, and also because the great CFE experimenters, builders, and tutorial writers are no longer part of the community and their original discoveries are gone as well - I am happy to go down a massive rabbit hole on this piece of TS2 history if anyone else cares, but trust me, you don't have to care).
Alright that is enough caveating, here are some recs! (Links are in the creator's names and they take you to their Lots, though many of them have other creations, too).

Lord Tiko Speaking of great CFE builders! Lord Tiko built spaceships, boats, pagodas, domes, windmills and bridges, oh so many bridges before retiring mid-TS2 because of health issues. He was one of the first builders to take Daihtnaoz7's single and double bridge tutorials and apply them to really big lots. I'm still not sure how he built the Venice Rialto Bridge, or his other European water lots. Overall, a massive inspiration to me when I was prioritizing CFE builds.

Hatshepsut My favorite "traditional" home builder, and someone I considered a friend. She specialized in English and American builds, and I had many of Hat's houses in my old saves and was impressed by her range and decorating style which was (for the time) more varied than many of her peers. Knew how to take great preview pics of her houses, too.

Tigerblue Another builder I corresponded with, Tigerblue was probably the least prolific uploader on this list for sheer number of uploads, but she also crossed a range of styles. Her builds leaned way into specific styles (see the previews, these were all part of consistent sets of 3,4, or even 10 lots), but this was also what happened when a new EP dropped and everyone raced to uploaded builds using as many of the new objects and styles as possible. Tigerblue just happened to be better at it than most of us.

Cyclonesue Do current TS2 players know Cyclonesue? Because it's hard to think of someone who had a bigger impact on building and decorating of the era, first with her English and Tudor builds and later with her extremely distinct grunge creations. Seriously, check out her Urban Renewal series and the corresponding objects. Iconic stuff that surely now feels frozen in time. I probably only played 20% of her lots that I downloaded, but they still make for great hood decor. Like Tiko, someone who happily experimented with CFE.

Illiana The creator who inspired me to make this list is, ironically, the one on it who I know the least about (she is a Featured Artist but not in the Hall of Fame, whatever that means). I just started playing her Tri-Annyas fraternity house and have a few other lots floating around my game. She built in a range of styles, from classical to modern to Twikki Island to grunge. Revisiting some of them in-game, the TSR previews do not do them justice.
*EXHALES* If you made it to this point, kudos to you. I'm sure there are creators I've forgotten, and houses I haven't linked to, but this is a good starting point for digging into some of the eclectic builds the TSR(chives) have to offer (I just coined that, is it clever? It is not). Maybe I'll do a Part 2 if people like this.

Self-use Sims 3 CC Tutorials List
Here is a list of tutorials from which I learn to convert/create sims 3 cc in a few months (and as a poor English speaker). I think it might help someone who also wants to try making things for sims 3 but doesn't know where to start, though it's been 15 years from the game release and even Inzoi is coming hahah.
The list covers objects, clothes, hairs and eyes. I know there're lots of tutorials not listed here, that's because I haven't tried them in my projects by hand. Published: 5-1-2024 | Updated: N/A MOD ORGANIZING During the [first] "pandemic summer," I started reorganizing my game folders. I also started  a "conflict management" list, containing all the known conflict info from download pages, new conflicts I discover while playtesting, etc. It's 44 pages long at the moment....a testament to my unapologetic mod addiction. I encourage all simmers to keep a list like this. It’s very reassuring (and handy!) to be able to look up known conflicts or keep track of mods which have been merged (duplicate files can break your game FAST!).  **I won’t be able to share mine at this time but most of my info comes from the same pages where I download CC/mods - shout out to the creators who take the time to include this info.

MY LOAD ORDER(S) I number my folders and use mostly lower case filenames to force the load order I want – these were the most important changes I made re: how I maintain a heavily-modded-but-still -very-functional game. With few exceptions, this has been much more effective than keeping track of the number of z's and cases. It also means I don't need to rename downloaded files - I just put them in the right folder. When I played exclusively on mac, I learned that numbering the store cc folders was the ONLY way I could get all the content to work. I never figured out why but I imagine it was because the mac series doesn't include expansions required for some of this content.
DETAILS (the codes) I put that grad school debt...I mean...those grad school research skills to good use and made up my own codes. Here they are... 0= files needed in every save aka my "essentials." These include repair files, shader/UI files, CEPs, global probes (like scriptorium, money globals, inteen checker, inventory checker, etc).

1= mods that do NOT need a load order, some OFB-themed sets I want to keep separate from other CC - like the #co2bellabrand or upcoming #co2cdkseries stuff.

2= mods that require a hard load order. As @episims writes HERE, this only works for mods with non-game-breaking conflicts between them. Only the last mod in the sequence will retain ALL its intended functions. The code for this section goes like this: [number]-[what the mod deals with in-game; i make sure to consider alphabetical order]-[load order number] -name of the mod(s)

I have several global mods that need to load as close to LAST as possible. These folders all start with "2-z-[load order #]-." The "2" tells me they need to load in a certain order and the "-z" makes them load after all the other #2 folders.

See Object Freedom 1.02 (@fwaysims, 2023) and Shiftable Everything (@lamare-sims, 2022) both load at #78? I don't have them BOTH in game at the same time, but giving them the same number ensures that the right load order stays no matter which one i'm paying with. 3 = build mode and neighborhood deco/defaults

OTHER DETAILS I also label folders with certain "type codes" - these tell me things like whether they add permanent data to my saves (custom memories, careers, foods, etc. do this) or whether they are maxis-match. Here are some examples:
-BIN = mod files which go in the program folders -DEF = default replacement -MEM = this content includes custom memory data -MM = maxis-match or an add-on for default game furniture -ADD = content that is not maxis-match -NPC = this content includes or changes one or more NPCs -FIX  or -EDIT = this is a fixed or uniquely edited version of a pre-existing mod -BETA and -TEST = this mod is unfinished and/or a test version Remember, conflicts do not always mean something has to be removed from your game, nor are all conflicts unresolvable. No matter what kind of method(s) you use to organize your game – it’s just important to try/have at least one in the cut.

Editing occlusion shadows on objects
This is a tutorial aimed at creators and converters who want to understand, at least a little, how to improve the appearance of their objects in the game. Yes, it’s a bit exhausting, just like creating an object from scratch, mapping it and texturing it, but the result is worth it. The shadow dynamics of TS3 are different from TS4. In TS4, the game itself creates these shadows when the object approaches a wall. In TS3 it is necessary for these shadows to be created using “lights” in TSRW. Of course, the occlusion is not perfect, but it gives the game a more realistic aspect by creating this idea of depth.
The icing on the cake: keep these shadows if they are large objects, like cabinets, sofas, beds, tables, chairs… Small decorative objects, like clutter, you can just delete these shadows. But if you are crazy about perfection and details, and really want even an ant to create its shadow when approaching a wall, my tip is that you clone using a small object as a base as this will make editing the shadows easier.
I will use as an example this armoire that I edited a while ago. The shadows have been edited and look like this when you open them in TSRW:

In the game, this is how the shadows appear when we position the object close to a wall:

To edit the shadows, you must click on the "MISC" tab in TSRW. These shadows are right below, where "LIGHTS" is written. Note that there is a + sign next to it and when you click it, a drop-down list appears with all the shadows separated. In this example there are 3 of these shadows. The names are the same, but let's say we have shadow 1 (front), shadow 2 (top) and shadow 3 (side). Edits must be made in the order they appear.

Click on the three dots to the right of lights. A window as shown in the image below will appear:

The lights that must be edited are found in the part where it says "OCCLUDERS". In this case, "Entry 1" corresponds to our "SHADOW 1" (front)...

For the front shadow, we will start by changing these two parameters that correspond to the width and position of the shadow. My tip is that you copy the original value, change this value to 1 and then click on "OK" to see what happens (that is, to see what changes when changing the value, so you will know if you need to change it to a higher value or smaller...). If it's not what you need, just paste the original value copied previously into the corresponding field and change it little by little until you reach the correct size of the object.

For the distance the shadow is from the object, this field must be edited - remembering that we are still editing the front shadow (which corresponds to the shadow that will replicate the width of the object on the wall):

For the other shadows, you must follow the same path: changing the values until it is proportional to the size of the object.
Bonus tip: Open various base game objects in TSRW and see how shadows are created. For example, select a chair and study each shade individually. With practice, you will realize that all you have to do is create a shadow on all sides of the object. For example: on a bed, you should have a shade for the headboard, another for the footboard, another for the side and another for the top, which would be the mattress. Therefore, it is important to study each type of object separately.

Now you might be asking yourself: Oh, yes, thank you very much... But where do I start? How will I know how to create a shadow from scratch? OMG! Help me!
Don't worry, it's very simple: when cloning an object, like a bed for example, it's obvious that you will use a bed from the game as a clone... So just edit the original shadows that correspond to the clone, so that they are the size of the bed you are creating for the game. Only that.

Sai Yamanaka Modern lookbook + Beast Scroll tattoos (TS4 CC Download below)

☯So I was inspired by this fanart of Sai by @seoz-gets-artsy and wanted to make tattoos for my modern/cyberpunk au version of him. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
☯Made a version for Upper right arm, Upper left arm, Left leg and Right leg tattoo categories and all are base game compatible. You can have all of them installed for if you need a tattoo category for something else, or choose the one you want.
☯I struggled to get the opacity the way I wanted so included 8 swatches with slight differences (I made a gif but they look much better in game):
-Normal black and white
-Black and white, lower opacity
-Normal only black with transparent instead of white (you can see this much better on darker skin)
-Same as former, lower opacity
☯All four of these also added the same swatches using a different composition method which means it blends with the sims skin colour a bit more for example on Sai's pale skin it becomes a little bit sepia.
☯ I tested on a dark brown skin and you can see the different between the white and non white ones a lot better but the composition method thing is less noticeable:

☯Designed with male frame in mind; but I didn't restrict the frame, the seams might not align properly though on female body frame because I used the male template.
☯I used EA tattoo textures for the background, all the beast scroll images were found on google, and either fixed in photoshop by me or upscaled with AI, taken from the anime, the manga, the videogames and possibly fanart but it's hard to tell...
☯I did my best to clean up all the seams but sorry if there is still any you can see, I have checked it so many times and redone it. Also if you see strange lines on his wrists or body in the pics that is just Sai's cyberware accessory.
☯I'm sorry I haven't been making a lot of cc and I know this is only one item but editing all the animal pictures and making the tattoo actually took me a similar amount of time as my bigger sets.

Hello Simmers! I was kindly asked what other creators' worlds I like. I can't fully answer this question, because first of all it's a very big list of creators and I'm sure I'll forget someone and then it will make me feel sad. Secondly I think every world has its fans, some interesting locations that you want to explore. I always enjoy looking at Simmers screenshots of the worlds they post.
I'd rather tell about the world leaving me impatiently waiting to download it. The try to create a world was a long time ago for me. Maybe someone remembers Pavot Bleu, I liked it. Some of its parts were saved for the new world, such as the church and one lot on the bay. But it was chaotic and without an overall concept tying it together. I see that when I saw the world of Tørsvall. Everything here is well thought out, attention is paid to every detail. The scenery is beautiful. Each community lot is unique, with its own history, and what interesting descriptions they have! And there's also a radio station and a newspaper printing press! It's awesome! And if @bioniczombie inspired me to do TS4 to TS3 conversions, @omedapixel inspired me to create the World you see on my blog.
The final version of the World will include only the most necessary CC and only Maxis Match. The landscape of the town is pretty flat, there isn't much decor in the World, attention to routing. Originally it was 1024x1024, but then there was not enough space for mountains. So it's now 1536x1536. I know, that's a lot. But the routing isn't complicated. Anyway, I don't have the most powerful laptop, but this loads fast and no crashes even on max settings. Just don't setting to play Detailed Lots 8) There aren't many lots, there's not much decor, just the necessary for the game. Most of the neighborhood houses are 20x20. Hopefully there won't be any issue. Thank you!

I'm posting this folder so It's easier to find the sliders that I use on my sims, I may not use them all the time, but I do use like two of them a lot so, yeah!
