Selected Passage from Chapter 2-

“I want you. Goddddd! I want you so much,” he growled as he thrusted his groin against her belly. She could feel his hardness; her eyes flew wide open.

“Mulder, hold on. You aren’t acting like yourself,” she said. Her arousal taking a back seat to her concern.

“Tell me you don’t want me, Scully. Tell me, and I’ll stop,” He pulled away from her and palmed himself through his sweatpants. “I’ll try to stop,” he uttered to himself.

“Mulder. I’m sorry, this is just very confusing." She moved back to him feeling his head for a fever or some explanation of what was happening to him.

“He’s, um, in a predicament,” Diana said stepping into view from the kitchen. She seemed to be ending a call on her cell phone.

“What did you do?” Scully asked, trying hard but failing at hiding the vitriol in her voice.

“Me?” Diana feigned innocence. “Nothing. I came to talk to Fox about some emerging evidence on extraterrestrials.”

"What evidence?" Scully continued.

Diana scoffed and gestured her hands toward Scully in a shooing motion. “You know what? I don’t need to explain it to you; you'll just dismiss it!”

Mulder chuckled, “Scully doesn’t really really believe, do you, Scully? Or maybe you do,” he said, as he started to lick and suck at her jawline. It was distracting; it felt so good. Scully allowed herself to close her eyes for just a second before refocusing on the situation and Diana .

She tried to formulate an appropriate response, but before she could, Mulder was talking again, not necessarily to Diana or her—just talking in general. “It doesn’t matter if Scully is a believer because she’s so,” he ran his hands down her arms, “fucking,” he pulled her hips against his crotch, “perfect.”

She resisted the overwhelming urge to moan and turned her attention back to Diana. “I don't need to hear about the evidence, Diana. Look at him! Was he exposed to something? How long has he been like this?”

Diana rolled her eyes and sighed. “I gave him a…um…cookie.”

“I’m listening,” Scully said, urging Diana to continue and making no attempt to hide her irritation.

“I got it from a…friend. He told me it contains an experimental drug that boosts sexual desire just a little; provides a mild aphrodisiac effect, like oysters or chocolate.”

“Diana, does this seem like a mild effect to you?”

"my brother's decisions are his own, and i cannot change that." the princess fidgets slightly, twiddling her fingers. "and i am glad we are building ourselves a navy but.. perhaps they are not the best people to be aligning ourselves with. we may not share their practices, but working with them means condoning it, at the very least. i support rashid in his decisions, he knows this."

"competition? i don't believe i have any." who could she be in competition with? she may be noble lady, but house egen is by no means large. and besides, she is cousin to the king. a lady-in-waiting to the queen, what reason would she have to compete with anyone? "as for allies, i think it is time my cousin and i truly see eye to eye."

continuing my thoughts about the Bats all being in high-stress physical and mental states so whenever they get captured and injected with truth serum/something to make them compliant, it reacts horribly with the nuclear levels of cortisol/stress hormones in their bodies and they just conk out. hard.

and, obviously, fully-unconscious Bats can’t answer questions, which is a big L for Black Mask to take after paying off Scarecrow to develop a truth serum no one can resist (not even the Bat himself)

Okay okay okay.. but listen. What if Shen Yuan had a harsher System and was forced to convincingly play Shen Qingqiu, making Luo Binghe detest his existence, but when Luo Binghe returns from the abyss to enact his revenge and has Shen Qingqiu on trial at Huan Hua, unfortunately for everyone (and fortunately for us), they drug Shen Qingqiu with truth serum and accidentally spiral Shen Yuan into fanboy rampage of epic proportions about how great Luo Binghe is.

Been having Secretly Smart Steve thoughts except it's less that his intellect is a secret and more that nobody ever noticed lmao

The initial thought for this is based on my mom's stories about acting like a ditzy airhead in high school but then graduating with honors

Within five minutes of walking into high school Steve definitely clocked that being cool was more important than being smart right? So he didn't really let on that he was good at class stuff and just let people think he was a simple jock

And Steve graduating isn't a huge thing cuz it happens during UD stuff which means they all miss graduation ceremony and just get their degrees later, so it's not like anyone saw the honors tassels that steve was given to wear with his grad gown

And the first real hint is Lucas trying to make a basket and getting frustrated. And Steve is like "here I'll show you" and proceeds to make every throw he makes from anywhere on the court and when Lucas asks how the fuck he does that Steve shrugs and is like "well, i mean, its all angles man"

Later Mike and Will are working on an egg drop project (you know the ones) and getting worked up cuz the eggs keep cracking. Steve has been watching TV or something the whole time and outta nowhere is like "yall are missing shock absorption and proper wind resistance, duh"

Nancy is trying to decode some number based cipher for fun but it's becoming rapidly Not Fun and Steve looks over her shoulder for like two seconds and goes "group the numbers into twos, subtract 18 from each, and then it's the alphabet letter based on the number" and then just walks off

Dustin is taking an engineering class and is having trouble building a bridge cuz it keeps collapsing when he sends a hot wheels car over it. Steve tells him he needs more load-bearing beams and to distribute the weight evenly and Dustin is surprised when it works

And, of course, Eddie sees all of this so one day when Max or Erica ask for help with some geometry homework he takes the worksheet they give him and immediately passes it along to Steve, waves off their disbelief, and sits all smug while Steve explains concepts they'd been missing entirely

One of my favourite fic tropes is “drugged and loopy on truth serum”.

Normally-stoic characters acting wildly out of character and professing the innermost feelings that canon has implied but is too chickenshit to address? Or fixing toxic canon dynamics because fuck it, fanfic is for dreamers?

Chef’s. Kiss. Mwah mwah mwah, mutherfucker.

Eg:

Bruce Wayne: “I love my sons so much. Even the large murdery one. He was just my tiny little guy, and now he’s so big and problematic but that’s just more to love.”

Or characters dropping absolutely horrific bombshells about canon traumas and giggling like a teenager drinking their first Bacardi.

Eg:

Tim Drake: “I’m so glad I made all those League Of Assassins bases go kablooey. It prolly killed hundreds of people but pssssh I wasn’t ready to be a dad to Ra’s babies.”

Drunk-seeming, loopy, hilariously honest and oblivious character rambles are my jam.

truth serum: what will happen if your sister fails to birth an heir for the king?

"she won't." he can't say the fear hasn't crossed his mind, though, given her age. while she is not some old spinster, she is certainly not as young as she could be. from what he knows, the women tend to have more complications as they age. "she is a serrett, a good woman of the west and she will do her duty."

I really like “Truth Serum” trope in fanficion, particularly in Svsss fanfic because I think it’s can be a number of things- funny, angst, sweet.

HOWEVER, I feel like there isn’t enough where SY gets Truth Serum-ed, and his romantic partner, martial siblings and/or disciples get to see his absolutely unhinged thoughts.

Like, sure, you get a system reveal out of this, but I also think this is funnier if the bit where SY isn’t SJ isn’t revealed makes this so much funnier.

It’s the trial and SY is made to tell the truth, except it’s his whole thought process tumbling out and he just can’t help ‘Peerless Cucumber’ ranting and tearing apart OPM in front of everyone like the internet troll he still is deep down. Yue Qingyuan is just letting this happen.

It’s post canon and Luo Binghe is subjected to his husband’s feral thought process about him, and how great he is, and how he is definitely not gay for marrying him because come on. Look at Binghe.

It’s during the years after the conference and Liu Qingge is having to hold a ranting SY back from making the demons who got them in this mess cry, because SY isn’t going just a little too hard in his rant. Also he keeps saying how pretty LQQ is but how everyone must think that jeez, which is not helping the situation.

It’s at any point and Mu Qingfang is pretending to have a normal conversation with SY, under the cover of getting this truth serum nonsense fixed. Except SY just keeps saying the wildest shit about his health and what he does to manage it and Mu Qingfang just wants him to keep going at this point to learn the medical things that SY would never admit on a normal day.

I know this might sound like a normal fanfic with this trope, but I just feel like I have never seen one where the people who care about SY are forced to witness him being a bastard internet troll that we all know he is.

Anyway if anyone had some fanfic recs, I would love some lol
