#trump won and we're doomed

Leaving aside possible reversals, disasters, doom & gloom, can we take a moment to savor the Trump meltdown over Harris/Walz and the momentum that makes a possible blue tsunami seem an entirely plausible outcome? I'd love to give you the space to ramble about it if you'd like, as my current fandom at least for the moment has shifted back to US politics (but not, for the first time in a while, to doom scrolling politics!).
Aha, I feel as I have probably already said most of my current thoughts, but here are a few things that really make me desire a heaping helping of butt-whooping blue wave in November:
The state that has had the most volunteer sign-ups since Harris took over the ticket? Fucking Florida, with over 18,000. The Villages, formerly a hotbed of Trump support (and y'know, probably still is), also had a major pro-Kamala event, and she is allegedly up 15 points in Miami-Dade (after Biden won the county by 7% and lost the state only by 3%). Now, we all know that Obama won Florida twice, but it has become such a symbol of retrograde Trumpian/DeSantisian politics that winning there would be literally seismic. I'm not going so far as saying that it's in PLAY play, but let's just hold onto that happy, happy idea.
Likewise the poll I mentioned the other day, where Trump is struggling to break 50% in Ohio, once a swing state and now also reliably red. The fact that this is Vance's home state and he's dragging the ticket down every single time he opens his mouth, thus offering the smallest sliver of hope that Ohio (which DID legalize abortion and weed by major margins last year) could also go blue? Incredible. Amazing. Showstopping.
Harris is also tied with Trump (46%-46%) in North Carolina and there is a lot of chatter about how the terrible GOP governor candidate could give a boost to Democratic turnout statewide.
The Mormons have apparently announced their intention to abandon (or at least support much less than they usually do) the Republican presidential ticket in 2024. Remember when Obama won Indiana in 2008? In my wildest dreams, I imagine Utah going blue in 2024. It won't but shh.
Basically, where we were braced for another agonizing nail-biting grind-it-out three-day election determined by a few thousand votes in key states (because etc etc the Electoral College sucks) we are now looking at the very real possibility that Harris wins at least one state, and possibly more, that Biden didn't, and which have been seen as out of reach for Democrats since Trump came on the scene. I don't think I need to counsel anyone against complacency, because we're all too damn scared for that, but yeah. Polls, even the good-looking ones that we like, don't vote. They are still skewed and subjective and do not represent the actual reality, whatever that may end up being. The Republicans and the media will be trying their absolute goddamnfuckingest to ratfuck us again in the 80-something days that remain, but:
WE CAN DO THIS, WE WILL DO THIS, WE MUST DO THIS.
WHAT IS THIS.... JOY SCROLLING? FOR AMERICAN POLITICS? IN THE YEAR 2024 WITH DONALD TRUMP ON THE TICKET FOR THE FUCKING THIRD TIME?
UNPOSSIBLE.

Okay, so I've been thinking about it and I don't think we're actually all that cooked with Joe Biden dropping out.
If you don't know, Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential election. He is no longer running. BUT Kamala Harris, the current VP, is taking his place as the Democratic candidate for this election.
Looking at this, you may say something like "Oh no, we're done for. We're doomed." But if you think about it, this is actually an unbelievably intelligent and strategic move. In fact, this gives me a lot of hope that I didn't have before.
Obviously, this move is a last resort. They knew if they kept running with Biden they would lose. It means the Democratic party is pulling out a final weapon. But it's honestly a damn good one.
Before this happened, it seemed hopeless. Our two options were two old rich white men, one of which is an awful public speaker and the other is a literal criminal. And, because of that, you got people choosing not to vote or choosing to vote for Trump. Because which of the two evils is more appealing?
Donald Trump is a wonderful public speaker. He is charismatic and charming. He knows how to get people on his side. He's spent his whole life learning how to be a strong public speaker. That's what makes him scary. That's what made it so he won the 2016 election, so he almost won the 2020 election, and why he's still in the conversation today. He knows how to speak in an appealing way.
Joe Biden is honestly an awful public speaker. He struggles with gathering people to be on his side. Whether it's because he has a stutter/speech impediment or because he's dealing with dementia, he's still not good at public speaking. That makes him weak in things like debates and in politics. We saw that with our own eyes during the last debate.
Kamala Harris, while maybe not as strong of a speaker as Donald Trump, is very knowledgeable and self assured. She knows how to debate, she knows how to be a politician. She knows what she's doing. She's strong and confident. She may be our final hope.
A lot of why people aren't going in to vote is because it felt useless to do so, especially to people on the left. Donald Trump is out of the question for a lot of people, but Joe Biden isn't much better to many. They're both old as fuck, about 80 years old. They're both straight white cis men who have higher incomes. They're not aligned at all with what a lot of people on the left view.
Harris is significantly more relatable to a lot of people. She's a woman of colour. A good percentage of the United States population is one of those, either a person of colour or a woman. She's also younger than both Biden and Trump by almost 20 years. Yes, she's still 60 years old, but that's absolutely nothing compared to our other candidates.
Another thing that brings Biden out of favour with the left is how he handled and backed specific foreign wars (Ukraine and Palestine specifically). The Palestine Israel war is a very strong thing on the left, it's very talked about, and a lot of people view Biden as 'om the wrong side' of it. And, although Harris was the VP of the Biden administration, she's not very tied in to the wars from public view.
Harris is a great candidate other than a few minor minor minor things. She's leagues better than our dropped out ex candidate and our currently running candidate. One of the biggest hurdles for her, though, is going to be racism and sexism. It's always there. Oh, and the fact that her opponent had an assassination attempt on him, but that's a whole other can of worms.
Kamala Harris coming into this race may change things completely. We're not as screwed anymore. There's hope.
You. Whoever may read this. Go vote. It's crucial. Vote if you can. If you can't, get people to vote who can. This is the most important election in a long time.
We can win.

Well we're doomed
We're screwed.
Boned.
Fucked.
However you want to word it, we're in for a rough ride in the near future. And to anyone who voted for Trump, I hope you fuckers are proud of yourselves. You've doomed this country to hell on earth for the next four years. I was cautiously hopeful that Kamala Harris would win, but I'm honestly not that surprised that Trump won. And now he's going to run this country into the ground and stress us all out until he's gone.
I am beyond disappointed. I am disgusted. I am terrified about what will come once that motherfucker is back in office.
These next four years are going to be extremely tough to get through. I'm already tired and stressed and anxious and this bullshit is not helping.
Here's hoping we'll get our country back once his term is over.

im a canadian so i dont super have a horse in the race but i do find it funny that trump winning gets this huge OH NO WE'RE DOOMED reaction when like,,, theoretically its not gonna be all that much worse than if kamala had won? Yes, it will be slightly worse, but would kamala winning and it being slightly less worse be enough for everyone on here to be like REJOICE THE PROMISED TIME HAS ARRIVED jddhdksk you want so bad for a flawed victory that youre completely blind to the reality of the two choices,, who knows what would even happen during a kamala admin, the abortion ban happened during bidens administration,,, anyways bye bye americans trump is about to start shooting aimless lasers from trump tower blowing up random americans run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm actually gunna fucking kill myself. I don't understand how this many people are such numb brained dumb asses that they actually support a person like trump. I don't fucking get it. I don't fucking understand. he's literally a geriatric moron. he's on his way to win the election rn and I cannot live through another fucking 4 years of this fucking cock sucker. "stupid" is not a strong enough word. like I actually don't understand how the actual literal majority of this country is this brain dead. not only brain dead but violently racist and homophobic and every other type of bigotry in existence. is humanity just fucking doomed? are humans not actually good? how is it that this many people are fucking evil?? I had a long conversation about trauma and guilt and shame with my partner tonight while we were watching the votes come in and I just. have been so fucked over by so many people. people who were entrusted with my wellbeing like my actual caretakers and close family. I have C-PTSD from years of childhood sexual trauma. I have been in horrific abusive situations by family members. and I've been in multiple horribly toxic romantic relationships and friendships. I don't want to believe that people are just generally BAD. I don't want to believe that the majority of people on this planet are actually evil. I held out hope that maybe things could improve. I never believed Biden could beat Trump a second time but once Kamala was thrown in i thought maybe we actually stood a chance. obviously she's not a fucking perfect person but trump's disgusting cult is just going to be fucking empowered again. in 2016 when Trump won I remember how bad things got for me, a queer trans teenager in a rural town. I'm in an explicitly red state as a visibly gay and trans person. I pass but barely. I am extremely easily clocked. I want freedom to be myself. I can never be myself here. I'm fucking scared going in public just bc of the way I look. today a group of girls in maga hats came into my job and all gawked at me like I was in a fucking exhibit. I can't do this. I hate humanity. I want to believe people are good but they're just not. time and time again I am just... let down. I feel like I'm generally a pretty optimistic person once my initial terror subsides. I've been losing this optimism in the past few years. we're fucked.

We're at the point in USA politics that little old ladies who come through my job are afraid that there is going to be some
"big cyber terror attack on election day that is going to take out all of the news channels and internet and it'll be pure chaos because we won't have any way to know who won, its really scary"
Like. Guys. Stop fucking fearmongering about how this election is going to decide the fate of the world. Trump is or is not going to be elected, and instead of being a doomer and scaring women in their 90s how about we all collectively take a deep breath, put down the doomerism, and actually do positive things in our communities and start making positive connections now before the election so you've got your community working together before shit hits the fan?
People are already doing that in my community:
shoes go 90% off at a store? Buying an entire cartful for $2 a pair and literally just giving them away to homeless people or donating them to the local shelter.
Legos and other fancy toys going 80% on clearance? Buying a whole case to donate to the children's hospital.
People are regularly just piling their cars full to bursting of clothing, blankets, and shelf stable food items and driving to North Carolina to help with relief efforts out of their own pocket with donations from random neighbors.
If you're absolutely terrified of what is going to happen with this election, then one of the ways you can help with the panic and the outcome is to literally just step away from the doom scrolling on social media and actually start engaging in a positive way with your local community.
Join local "buy nothing/ free things in x" neighborhood groups, and see if you can help people out.
See if there's a local food bank you can volunteer at or do food deliveries for.
Next time you're buying colored bell peppers at the store, or some tomatoes, plant the seeds in your garden (or rinse + dry them on a paper plate for spring if its too cold where you are) and grow them out and give the fresh veggies away-- they're some of the easiest beginner plants and are pretty much maintenance free once they're established.
Just ... Stop fear mongering.
Stop acting like the world is literally going to end in hellfire if Donald Trump wins the election.
He has a 50% chance of becoming President and no amount of doom posting is going to change that reality, so instead of terrorizing people, how about you take some actual steps now to help slowly make your community a better place and inspire others to do so as well before it's 'the end of the world' ?
#long post#us politics#american politics#conspiracy theories#people are pissing me off seriously#if you think the world is gonna end if x then okay!! start making it a better place NOW

Goddammit! Diesel Won The Race!
This is bad, this is real bad! We're all doomed!
Diesel won the race and his presidency will be the end for all steamies! The project 2025 is unfortunately happening now that Diesel will be office. Duck didn't deserve the loss, we thought he would win in a landslide but no, nobody wants a vintage steam engine as leader.
I had to do this, I had to!
But seriously, I'm very disappointed with the race irl! America is very corrupt, and they chose a 34 times convicted felon as their president! Yes, I'm anti-Trump, and I can't forget the incident of January 6th when he encouraged his supporters to try to overthrow the government just because he lost to Biden. He doesn't deserve the second term and America might be doomed. I'm a libtard and proud!
Kamala deserved so much better!

Been a hot minute since I posted here, huh? Lots of shit's happened these last, what, almost 4, 5 years. I mean, I've been holding down a pretty steady job as a dietary aide at my local nursing home. My dad's pretty much out of my life. I have two nieces. Moth's doing pretty well, and so are my cats Ollie and Farrow.
Trump fucking won again and I'm still trying to get over that mess of feelings.
Look, I'm aware that I'm not the best sort of person to sit here and say "look at the bright side! Think of the good instead of the bad!" It's not how my brain works. Already I'm going down some pretty dark thoughts. Like, how far are they gonna be able to drag the US back into the dark ages? How scared do I need to be of being hurt or killed because of who I am? Of what I believe? How screwed is my life and my family's lives gonna be now, just from a theoretical standpoint? Is my youngest sister gonna have to be afraid she'll never work as a virologist? Is my middle sister gonna need to be afraid she'll never be able to go back to school? Is my mom gonna have to be scared she'll be fired and replaced? Are we all gonna have to be afraid well no longer be able to afford healthcare, rent, groceries?
I posted this in a comment section not too long ago, but my only real solace right now is that I live in New York State. Pretty liberal state, really. I'm not gonna need to be scared of the most extreme possible outcome happening to us here. New Yorkers are bastards, and we're a purple fucking shithole, but damn if we dont at least try to take care of each other here. In Western New York, I mean. Never been to the middle of this place. I know the rural areas are bumfuck town.
I'm just venting. Getting out my thoughts and nerves. Last I saw, cause I'm just not gonna keep looking and feeling that sinking stone of despair in my gut. I have to go into work with straight up Trump lovers. I gotta put on a brave face when they start bragging about how they're so happy he's won. I gotta lie that they don't terrify me with how they think so little of others. How if, in some unholy scenario this country legit turned into fucking Gilead, they'd happily toss me to the gallows.
World's fucked, man. Gaza's gonna get leveled cause Bibi's a fuckheaded cumstain. US might legit leave NATO. Ukraine'll probably be fine without us honestly, they've been kicking ass. Russia might have sanctions removed. Extremist right wing lunatics are gonna be bolstered. People are gonna die, from lack of access to necessary healthcare to outright murders to sheer negligence.
I guess there's some minor bright stuff, though. GLITCH Productions, an awesome indie animation studio, had one of their shows added to Netflix. The Amazing Digital Circus, if you didn't know. Great show, I love it and December is gonna be fun when episode four drops. The Monster Hunter community has been affectionately memeing on the PC beta for Wilds. I think it'd be cool if Capcom released official origami for the series. And Digmon and Monster Hunter are having a collab, which is not something I ever expected, but hey, it's cool. I've personally managed to grow the shit out of my book collection, and my plushie collection, and my games library. I have a PS5 I bought with my own money. Had to run to Buffalo to get the one I wanted. I have a Steam Deck. I got to go to my very first convention back in July, and I'm planning on going again next year as a VIP. I have a pretty big savings account. I make enough money I can occasionally splurge and not feel guilty. I'm writing a series over on AO3 for Murder Drones, and so many people have been enjoying it that I'm still a bit dopey over it.
It's not over. The world, life, the planet, society as we know it. Or maybe it is. None of us are gonna know till it's too late. And by then, I just hope it'll be painless for everyone. I'm just one person. I'm just some strange bitch on the internet full of anxiety and mental illness who's all doom and gloom about shit. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm right. I can't tell. I won't be able to tell. All I can do is keep living, and breathing, and fighting against all the evils that I can. And hey? If it ends up killing me someday? I just hope I put up enough of a fight that the next person has a bit of an easier time fighting back, too.
#rant#election 2024#kamala harris#donald trump#just keep fighting guys#even if we end up hurt we can still take a few assholes down with us#also first post after like what almost 4 years#and it's a doom post#least I stay on brand#might start reblogging murder drones stuff#maybe post a few pics I took from that con I mentioned#it was TennoCon#i went with my sister Millie#it was a blast

We're going to see a lot of analysis of what the Dems got wrong, and the centrists will blame the left and the left will blame centrists. This post is surely courting a lot of "the left are too morally pure! If they never vote why should politicians try to win them over!" and back and forth goes the blame. Here's the thing: The Republicans own the news. They seed social media with misinformation. They have all manner of ways of suppressing votes.
We all had a different story in the runup to election. I personally wish Harris could have been less centrist but I also know there is no position she could have taken that would have won people over when our feeds were seeded with a constant diet of no hope, evil either way, we're doomed whatever.
We're being firehosed with misinformation and tailored propaganda and it works. These people aren't stupid, they're clever. Don't let's spend the next while tearing ourselves apart when we need to take care of each other. Trump is part of an oligarchical force that's way bigger than democracy and the people who wanted him in power have gone a long way to control what everyone thinks. Right now, they want leftists to be mad at centrists and centrists to be mad at leftists. We need to keep our minds on who the real enemy is and not waste our energy knocking chunks of each other. And we need to take care of our most marginalised folks in every grass roots way possible. Let's just try and be angry that these oligarchs have completely overriden democracy, because that's what we're seeing here.
Campaign tip: if the opponent is going far right in order to court an increasingly far right voter base, try going moderately right to appeal to neither the left nor the right

I think I might just start killing.
Trump won and now we're all fucking doomed. I got registered to vote this year because JFC I didn't want that fucking walking cheeto puff winning!
Yet he still did. Because thousands of other people didn't vote and crazy fuckers were burning ballots... I hate being an American. Y'all have made me even more bitter and angry than before.
What the fuck is the point of even voting if you crazy fucking idiots claim "WELL HARRIS IS TERRIBLE BECAUSE (insert X here)" when Trump is a fucking NAZI SYMPATHIZER, MISOGYNIST, AND A FUCKING RACIST HOMOPHOBE. Y'all realize you just cost us our rights to our own bodies, our lives, and that certain fucking things like SLAVERY might come back... RIGHT? BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN FUCKING TALKING ABOUT IT.
So yes. I am bitter. I am fucking furious. And whoever fucking MISSED THAT LAST ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT, I HOPE YOU'RE HAVING A BAD FUCKING DAY.

okay let's not act like dems are acting super rationally right now. there are tons of people filming and posting themselves screaming and crying on tiktok, people saying that anyone who voted for trump is stupid and should kill themselves. saying they hope latino trump voters get deported. that anyone who voted third party is awful and should feel terrible about themselves. as a harris voter myself, i am incredibly disappointed in the fear mongering and hate coming from the left right now. does it suck that trump won? yes. conservatives mock us and say that we are sensitive. stop proving them right. stop crying on tiktok and try to go about your day. trump was president once and we made it through that time. we'll make it through again. throwing our hands up and saying that we're all doomed helps no one. try to be kind and understanding. this approach to politics is creating a deeper divide that I hate to see
I actually can't stop thinking about how the losing party last election dressed like vikings and tried to break into the white house and the losing party this election are sharing suicide prevention hotlines
