#my art#Yes this is meant to parallel the Reiju piece and I will be drawing Yonji and Niji next.#those are judge's hands in case it wasn't clear but hopefully the hair does that?#Anyways to chatter about this a little#I just like that the trio are trapped within bodies that are forced to comply to Judge and have no desire to do otherwise#No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.#but it also raises the question what will happen to them when he dies and Ichiji becomes King (presumably)#they've been so sculpted to follow his every word how far can they make it without an outside force commanding them.#could they have been “saved” if they had Sora's exterior voice commanding them to do good? But to what extent does that qualify as good#since it's arguable if they would ever be truly choosing it for themselves#Anyways the Vinsmokes are NOT okay and I hope that gets explored more#I love characters whose moral code begins and ends with “It is my purpose” so I don't like to think they're inherently bad entities#I like to think they're inherently hollow vessels filled with intentions of another person#because that opens a far more interesting conversation about selfhood and accountability.#Very fond of fanfictions where they don't need to gain emotions to learn error#Also fond of fanfictions where Ichiji kisses men. I've received a few messages asking for my thoughts about the latest OnK chapters, but I'm sorry guys, to be honest, I'm giving this manga as little thought as possible for the time being 😂
It seems to me that this handful of chapters will best be read as an ensemble. Right now the pacing is all about Aka misleading the readers just to create cliffhangers and shock value (Aqua wants to kill Kamiki! No actually, Ai wants to save him so Aqua won't kill him! Kamiki is evil! No actually, he's just misguided, Nino is evil! ACTUALLY, Nino is just misguided and Kamiki is evil! Aqua may have finally chosen to live! No actually, Aqua is still planning to die!), and personally, I feel like thinking too hard about any of it before Aka gets to the point isn't really worth it.
He will stop his shenanigans and get somewhere eventually, likely (hopefully) by the end of the volume. So in the meantime, I'm going to take it easy and just let the man get there.
#this gif is truly the most accurate to my reaction to every onk chapter nowadays lmao#writing for cliffhangers and shock value rather than organically is one of the biggest flaws of aka's writing#this latest chapter was entertaining sure I'll give him that but at what cost lmao#I'll probably just make a post about this batch of chapters once aka wraps up the call backs to mephisto#so I can discuss all of it in one go#particularly because this last chapter is clearly meant to be the spiritual successor to chapter 150#but let it be known that if in the next few chapters aqua doesn't realize and accept that he wants to live#then everything he has gone through will have been meaningless and a waste of our time as readers#so I'm expecting crowli to intervene and help him out if he chooses to live#probably at the expense of her own life if aka feels like being dramatic lol#fandom: onk

#marzi speaks#thinking abt the themes in that story#ESPECIALLY the letting other people’s perceptions dictate who you are vs choosing who you are for yourself and not letting anyone stop you#like almost every single one of the sdr2 cast has a front they put on/identity they’re ‘supposed’ to be vs who they truly are#komaeda’s i could write an essay on so we’re gonna skip him bc. energy#hajime’s is obvious. i don’t need to explain that one. though he tries really hard to come off as more masculine as well which. augh#speaking of masculine souda is a victim of toxic masculinity. he was bullied and had a dad who sucked so he changed himself to look fiercer#ibuki left her band due to ‘creative differences’- she didn’t fit into that classic pop band mold and she allowed herself to deviate#mahiru puts extra pressure on men around her bc Her Dad Also Sucked and she’s sick of having to deal with weaponized incompetence#gundham is this sweet kind kind boy who hides it all underneath a veil of darkness. the darkness is not a lie either though he is both#sonia. literally a princess. has huge shoes to fill. in reality she’s a horror fiend who just wants to nerd out abt true crime#nekomaru’s heart condition would have taken him out of sports forever but he found another way and started team managing instead#fuyuhiko is set up to be the next head of the kuzuryu clan but on the inside he is so compassionate (and canonically a prude lmao)#peko is literally raised as a tool and tries to embrace this role even though the one she works for just wants her to be herself#i haven’t seen hiyoko’s ftes but i imagine she��d be far less cruel if she didn’t have to deal with constant infantilization and perverts#twogami just. as a whole. the whole character. yeah#there’s for sure more but i haven’t seen everyone’s ftes so. yanno#like fuck !!!!!! people will always have a perception of what they think you should be but you cannot truly be happy#until you allow yourself to disregard those expectations and forge your own path instead !!!! fuck !!!!!

not me lying wide awake at 5:30am on a sunday on my day off bc after almost a full year I finally FINALLY realized the implication of the end of remember them from the cyclops saga
#that song has one of the most powerful ending crescendo sequences ive heard in maybe all of musical theater#so it. always felt incomplete after ALL that buildup during the I AM THE INFAMOOOUS#only to just drop to SILENCE. no music. no fanfare. just ODYSSEUS!#he doesnt even really sing it he just sort of... shouts it#and then its followed by the faintest sound of ocean waves#its poseidon. listening. THATS why athena said DONT#poseidon heard that declaration and came back to get him later#😬#i just looked up the lyrics for ruthlessness too and poseidon basically spells it out 😂#ive only listened to that song once or twice tho and i guess i wasnt too focused on the words#anyway i relistened to the songs on friday and theyve been rotating in my mind like a 7/11 hotdog#the whole cyclops saga especially is just.... so so good#they truly dont make music about bashing peoples heads in like they used to#the first 3 songs of the saga especially... oof#how they blend one into the other back to back and end up making like a 10 minute narration of events#the whole thing is so bone chilling#it gets my heartrate up lol#PLUS the theme of pain and vengeance bring more pain#EVERY time polyphemus says 'what gives you a right to deal a pain so deep'#and when odysseus says 'what good would killing do when mercy is a skill more of the world could learn to use'#rocking back and forth sobbing crying#remember them the next time that you DARE choose not to spare! remember them... remember us... remember me!#cant wait for everyone to turn their back on this musical in 5 yrs#like they did with hamilto.n#hamilto.n never stopped being good actually#yall are just embarrassed about being weird fanatics over people who rly existed

The Blind Pianist ft. how I felt in the moments before the end
(Fan made storylets!)
When I was going through the Playing with Soul storyline, I always imagined that after the pianist told us of the Dawn Machine, that my character would steal a glance that ended up being a long study.
The way the light was described and how it reflected made me think that she must have looked splendid in the loathing light. And just. Being so full of affection for someone, then getting a glimpse of what heaven could be just hits the heart hard. (Heaven in the metaphorical sense)
I think—for a moment— their breath was stolen; and they thought—for a moment—that perhaps in another life they'd stroll in the sun together.
The walk in Parabola was perhaps the closest thing to achieving that.
I do hope they get to meet her again. Even if only in a dream.
(Under the cut are the snippets of actual play that correspond with this, do feel free to ignore or induldge)
I should mention that before this storyline, I had done tha Last Constable's one, and truly looked for a way that I could save the Constable without risk of failure AND have her not mad at me. Alas, I opted for making sure she'd live at the cost that she'd be angry at me for a very long time.
So the fact this worked out and worked out perfectly was just another thing that made me Super Emotional (positive)

#it's a lottery every time someone is born!!! people achieve their dreams every day#others die. others bury loved ones. others get married. others have kids. others separate. still others choose to be alone#and what decides your path is largely up to who conceived you; where and at what time#the rest is blindly writhing around trying to change your circumstances and sometimes there's luck#every single person on this planet has their own inner monologue. their own family. their own dreams#we all just wade through our experiences and maybe leave a cascade of small influences around us#and at and time BOOM! you could just crease to exist!! you could walk outside right now and get struck by lightning#and your story is over#i guess no one is ever ready to think about stuff like that. but it's the truth#and the hardest question you'll ever have to answer is 'how do i spend my time in a way that leaves me truly happy?'#i don't think anyone ever knows the answer to that. not quickly at least#but no matter what you do the sun still rises the next morning and the moon comes out the next night#our rocks in space rotate and revolve like they have done for billions of years. and they'll keep doing it#time stops for no one. we all live and die. and no one but you can decide what will make you happy in the end#this weird little science experiment we are. our little self contained world#we're essentially the universe's terrarium. we're the little tiny creatures that live and reproduce and die inside#and what's it all for anyway? I saw something in the news today that truly took my breath away. If you have been paying attention to U.S. politics over the past few days, you’ve most likely seen this woman:
This is Bishop Mariann Budde, and on Monday (Trump’s inauguration) she led an interfaith prayer for Trump and the incoming administration. During the service she asked him to have mercy for LGBTQ+ Americans and undocumented immigrants. This was badly received by the Trump administration (as expected).
After seeing headlines about this woman, I read something that I wanted to share. In 1998 a man named Matthew Shepard was murdered for being gay. I’m not going to get into the details of his death on this post, but please be warned it is extremely triggering if you do choose to read more on your own. Matthew Shepard’s death caused a lot of change in the U.S. regarding how LGBTQ hate crimes are handled, and laws that were passed to protect LGBTQ+ people.
Now you’re probably wondering what Matthew Shepard has to do with an Episcopal bishop. For years after Matthew Shepard’s murder, his family had held onto his remains, too scared to lay him to rest in fear of his final resting place being vandalized. In 2018, Budde had his remains interred at the National Cathedral, which is also the place where the interfaith prayer for Trump and his administration took place. The impact of this really had an effect on me. Budde could have led a non confrontational prayer service, and chosen not to mention the harm that will come to the people Trump and his administration are going after. Instead she chose to call out hate and fear in front of some of the most powerful people on the planet, and at a place that has such a large historic meaning to the LGBTQ community.
In the next few years there will be many challenges in protecting free speech, standing up against hate, and protecting those in our communities. But I would like to believe that for every Donald Trump and Elon Musk, there are people like Marianne Budde. There are those of us who can’t speak up for themselves, so it’s important for those of us who can to amplify our voices, even if it’s not the ‘popular’ thing to do.

#not to sound dramatic but i think watching challengers reconciled me with cinema#or the things that are currently coming out in theaters more precisely#i've watched movies that i liked and enjoyed but it was nothing as good as i wanted it to be nothing really 'clicked' for me this year#i've been mostly disappointed and annoyed if not bored by the lastest popular releases#in january ive watched that disgustang la'thimos movie and the latest todd haynes which just confirmed that i don't vibe wirh#their work in general so i'll officially stop trying for the sake of my well-being#last movie i have watched in a theater setting that i truly loved and felt fresh and new was#another josh o'connor movie directed by yet another italian filmmaker but it was back in 2023 (so extremely long ago)#idk maybe that's just the secret ingredients for a movie i can love#what i liked about challengers is that it didn't desperately try to outwit its audience contrary to#these movies mentioned above + saltburnn which is my absolute biggest pet peevehfgyh#2024 was on its way to become the biggest year for recent releases that pissed me off so. hard. i'm glad luca saved it#thank u guadagnino mad respect u really choose your screenwriters well first james ivory then justin kuritzkes#who even is that guy? he's fabulous#i think i'm gonna have to watch it a second time next week
