Because she is a PRINCESS. In search of someone Worthy(tm) of her Hand(tm). Not because her DAD told her too, obviously, no no. She overheard some of the Ancients talking about how that's how THEY got married. And knows that princesses usually get spouses chosen for them. So SHES gonna chose!
Perfect plan.

Obviously, love at first dramaticly back-lit monologs followed by sword fight and dramatic escape. She's a formidable opponent.
But? Who IS she? This dramatic Chunibyo WEEB of a child? She! Is Danny's SECOND Clone Daughter. It was discovered? The only way to truely, PERMANENTLY, stabilize Dani? Was to get cells from a stable Clone.
Meaning one that WASNT rapidly aged.
Danny was... conflicted. He was against creating a kid JUST for giving medical aid to his other kid. But? He WASN'T so against the idea of having a kid? Like... a baby. Doing Dad Stuff. Cause... cause he wasn't 14 anymore. He's just graduated college. Has a stable job.

Just? Let JLA Dark have FUN for once. Let them see THE princess of basicly EVERYTHING... harrasing Batman... by trying to date his obviously willing son... and just go "Read at 12:37" sorry Bruce! (okay i was going about my day yesterday but i really couldn't get the merman au out of my head😭😭 i just imagine for a while somehow geto managed to sneak satoru into the palace and then it's a whole ordeal trying to hide him. panicked geto and oblivious gojo and really for all that image is stuck in my head i still have yet to write a proper interaction w them but!! it's not proofread so sorry if there are mistakes and it's a bit scattered but i had to get this one scene out that was brewing in my mind so🥺 ignore this if you want❗️❗️)

From the mezzanine, everyone looked like ants. Suguru had to squint to make out familiar faces in the crowd, and even then, the only person he could identify was a distant aunt of his that he had never really liked. Usually, he'd have been able to pick apart anyone of significance; he'd have known their name, their title, their interests. 
Suguru would've known, he always memorises the details before public events — he spends days in his room at a time, talking into the mirror and telling his reflection things about these people who he has never met. Perhaps, lately, he'd been busy with Satoru.
Suguru smiled. He didn't feel as guilty as he thought he would.
A hand clapped on his back, and he jolted. Shoko beside him, cocking a brow. “What's got you looking like a dumbass?” Her voice was flat, eyes busy scanning the crowd and Suguru knew who she was looking for.
He cleared his throat. He couldn't really tell her that he was keeping a siren in the little pond in his private garden — well, it wasn't exactly little, but that information held no relevance anyway. Shoko was his dear friend, and he knew she would always support him, but he had to keep Satoru a secret, more for her sake. Suguru bit his lip in thought. If only Satoru didn't have such a strong taste for human flesh.
“Is meat more nutritious than fish?”
“What?”
“Nevermind.” Suguru winced at the look he was being sent. He didn't mean to blurt the question out, but he'd been thinking about it for days. The salmon that he'd been feeding Satoru probably wasn't enough to sustain a creature his size — especially when he was so active — which would mean he burnt through a lot of calories very quickly. “Utahime is on the balcony,” Suguru pointed in the general direction, giving Shoko a pat on the shoulder, “good luck.”
From his peripheral vision, he could see Shoko roll her eyes as he walked away, but she muttered a small 'thanks' before she turned to find the other woman. He was glad she finally had someone to open up to other than him — he saw how happy Shoko was with Utahime, and with the burden of inheriting the throne giving her sleepless nights, it was all Suguru could want for his closest friend.
He turned his attention back to the winding flight of stairs before him. Now, to find some meat.

MAYBE suguru just thinks gojo is in need of lots of food, but actually gojo just likes to eat bc he enjoys the food, but doesnt neccessarily need it?(he is also a mystical creature, so in that sense anything is possible really xD) I ALSO LOVE HOW SUGURU JUST RANDOMLY ASKS SHOKO ABOUT NUTRITIONS AND SHOKO IS JUST LIKE WHAT, i adore that ; u ; <3 AND OMG gojo lives in a pond in his private garden??? HOW CUTE!! so that makes me wonder (pls indulge with me) why would he bring this technically "monster" into his home? generally i would think maybe that a creature like that needs its space and would need their freedom? so MAYBEEEEE smth has happened? maybe gojo got hurt, maybe even when he was caught in the fishernet situation? MAYBE suguru needs to take care of him until he gets better and maybe gojo, the curious creepy creature that he is, enjoys the change of environment and the new feeling of being cared for?? its exciting for both! what do you think ?? 👉👈 maybe you had a different idea?? im so excited to hear your thoughts!! (warning: literary analysis ahead) i know i'm not the first person by far to say this, but there are so many similarities between kaz and wylan in six of crows and ESPECIALLY crooked kingdom.
there's obviously the big one of both of them having a re-birth type experience in the harbor, but that's not where the similarity stops. during my ck reread, i noticed that the reason kaz and wylan are in the harbor in the first place is because a father-like figure.
pekka rollins was a father-like figure to both kaz and jordie, and the book says this. the rietveld boys had just lost their father, and one of the big reasons pekka was able to scam jordie and kaz so well is because he provided them with a comforting and parental like space. kaz ofc eventually ends up in the harbor, and it can all be traced back to pekka rollins.
wylan has his rebirth in the harbor due to his father. the connection is more direct with his, but even then there are middle men and other things involved. but again, it can all be traced back to his father.
going off this thought, they both lost a close family member due to a father figure.
another big similarity i found that i feel like i haven't seen anyone talk about his what kaz and wylan are both motivated by: revenge.
wylan does not start off the books being motivated by revenge. he ends up in the barrel and with the crows out of a desperation to both hide from his father and because he genuinely has no where else to go. later on in ck, after wylan finds his mother at saint hilde, the book very clearly states that his motivation changes. at the begining of chapter 31, there's a scene where wylan is staring at himself in the mirror. there are lines that say, "What am I doing here? But he knew the answer. Only he could see his father punished for what he'd done. Only he could see his mother freed." which drives me INSANE!! because it's a DIRECT PARELLEL to things kaz says/feels about jordie!! in the chapter right before that (30) there's a line that says, "He'd found his way to shore, devoted himself to the vengeance he and his brother were owed." (there are other and better lines that reference wylan's "only he could *take revenge*" line, but this is just the closest one that comes to mind)
there are differences between their motives—you could say that kaz's revenge motive is more direct and violent—but there's also the fact that we see both kaz and wylan get their revenge in the book.
both kaz and wylan want revenge for one of their family members, and themselves, from what a father figure in their life has done.
they've also both been kidnapped by jan/held in captivity by him. i know this happens to inej too, but i think it's important that one of the first scenes we see with kaz is him negotiating with jan after being captured by him, and then towards the very end of the series, we (very simplified and on the surface) see the same thing happening to wylan. i know the two jan captivity scenes with kaz and wylan are very different, but i think the basic similarity of these scenes really attest to how far wylan has come and how much he's been assimilated into the crows.
there's also of course the part where wylan's expression is said to be something that looks kaz-like, which i feel also shows how far he's come and how he's truely developed into a crow.
in conclusion, as others have said, they truely are two sides of the same coin. they're so different but so alike, and i absolutely love how leigh bardugo was able to directly juxstapose wylan and kaz when they're so different on the surface.

Hey! I just got a horrible wonderful AU idea and I need to share cause I think you might enjoy it.
A Silver Owl Silver is given a backhanded blessing by Melenor for eternal youth, and he will not age until he finds his one true love. He ends up in the castle still till modern day mourning how he couldn't protect the kingdom ( how could that not be his true love, did he not truely love his home? his parents? How can he think of he loyal people and not truly care for them?) and feeling like he's failed as a knight, until this curious lil babybat fae wanders in to explore the ruins. ( big bug eyes too long teeth and pointy ears he needs to grow into)
Silver ends up taking in Lilia and moving into this quiet little cottage. As the years pass Silver starts looking towards the future again and looking forward to seeing Lilia grow, for once truly feeling like he has been blessed, but realizes something horrible and wonderful as he looks in the mirror one morning.
He has laugh lines around his eyes.
the way that this ask has haunted me ever since i read it.
i've talked about a few role reversal aus with a friend but this!! the thought of silver being cursed with eternal youth until he finds his true love, and then the doubled agony of realizing that he will age and die well before lilia, leaving his beloved child all alone in this world!!!
ohhh but the scene of him finding babybat lilia,,,, he's a homely little thing, all eyes and fangs and ears and wings, but silver feels drawn to him instantly— even more so once he realizes the child has no family waiting on his return. silver definitely carries a lot of scars from those early days of raising lilia, patiently bearing the love nips from his fangs and the teething of a baby bat, along with the thin lines from his claws when he digs them into silver's pant legs and sleeves to clamber up his body and perch on his shoulder, equally attached to the strange human who has granted him a home.
it gives silver a purpose, looking after lilia, something to throw himself wholly in once more. he adores and is awed by everything that the boy is capable of— from his magic, his flying abilities, to his prowess at the sword, and lilia THRIVES under the praise. (thinking about comparisons to how canon silver was raised to this au; silver is infinitely more patient and practical when teaching lilia how to focus his magic).
also just some silly parallel moments to canon— silver gets caught in a snowstorm on his way back from making a long and arduous trek to a nearby human village to get lilia a boardgame he had been curious about for his birthday. lilia frantically swoops through the valley and forests to find him, scolding his father harshly when he sees the young man nearly succumbing to the frigid elements (he's much more brash and vocal with his exasperation to silver, almost like sebek in a way? but oh, how he loves his father and will turn his fangs and claws on anyone who dares to threaten silver!! idk I JUST REALLY LIKE TSUNDERE FAE LILIA PRIOR TO HIS DOMESTICATION). (also the thought that this is the beginning of silver's human weaknesses beginning to creep back in as he nearly catches hypothermia).
but the laughter lines. he can't hide these, how cruel to magic them away behind a glamour, and lilia either REFUSES to accept the truth or tries to reject the depth of their attachment??? i keep thinking of some awful moment where lilia is distraught and shouts that it must be true, humans are liars all along when he thought that he'd be together with his father forever, and running away instead of having to deal with the horrible nature of silver's curse (cue a panicked and frantic silver who chases after him— would be a real shame if something happened that would highlight the true depths of his mortality now!!)
anyways, i adore this concept, i need to devote more thought to it when i'm feeling better aaaaaa

How’d I get Isikiad into Yandere Obey Me Halloween Special
(Y/N)’s POV:
I woke up slowly with a dull ache in my head. Rubbing my head I opened my eyes to a strange sight. I looked around but all I saw was an endless void of darkness filled only by… mirrors? I stepped closer to one in confusion, heels clicking against the ground despite there being no sight of one.
“Glitch…?” I called out as I looked at the mirror carefully. “What is this thing?” The mirror instead of showing my reflection just showed some kind of blurred scene. “Glitch? Where are you?!”
Why wasn’t she here? She was always nearby, so where did she go? I nervously clutched my hands in front of me. Tentatively I reached one out to touch the mirror. It was cold. Freezing to be honest. The kind of freezing that burns. I tried to yank my hand away but I couldn’t.
As the mirror’s temperature burned my hand, the image in it cleared. It was of a room. Not just any room though. It was my room in my past life. It looked almost like the night I left it. Clothes still haphazardly thrown on my bed from when I was picking a dress for the party.
The door to my room clicked open and my sister and my previous fiancé entered. What were they doing in my room? “So glad that the dreary funeral is over! We can finally make this room into my new closet without anyone complaining about appearance sake.” My sister rambled as she clung to his arm.
She was still selfish. It seems like my dying didn’t fix that. They both talked together for a while planning their changes to the room before leaving. It wasn’t till they left the room that the mirror finally released me.
I thought I would be crying by now. That such a scene would hurt me like it always used to. But it didn’t… I felt nothing looking at them. Perhaps a bit of rage, but that was it. She didn’t scare me anymore. Now that I was surrounded daily by demons in Devildom she just seemed mediocre in comparison.
I rubbed my hand looking at it carefully for any injuries, but it seemed fine now. My head was pounding though like someone took an ax to it.
I walked through the strange void till I came to another mirror. It was also blurred without my touch. In order to test the theory I was developing I decided to lay my hand on this one as well. This time the pain shot up my whole arm and I cried out in shock. This mirror had been bigger than the other and clearly this had an effect on how it worked.
As cold air seeped through it, it slowly showed what it was hiding. It was my sister again. This time she was at the bottom of our family’s grand staircase. Our parents were standing at the top looking at her disgusted. Our mother was clutching onto our fathers arm looking horrified at my sister.
“Mother, father, why are you kicking me out?!” My sister cried out as she sobbed looking up at them.
“You are no child of ours!” My father yelled angrily. “You have dishonored this family! Do you truely believe you can crawl back here after failing like you did?!”
My sister glared at him with hate. “You're the one who suggested the plan in the first place! It wasn’t even my idea!”
“All you had to do was marry the man and make him sick enough to die so we could own his family’s corporation. You couldn’t do anything so simple?! Now you’ve been caught in the act and everything we’ve built is at risk!” My mother walked down the steps slowly with a deadly grace she only ever had when she was beyond angry.
“At least my biological daughter knew her place unlike you even if she was worthless.” My mothers words seeped deep into my soul and stung to hear. Even then I still lacked tears. “If you know what’s best for you you’ll keep your mouth shut about our involvement and follow her example.”
“Are you… telling me to die?!” My sister fell down to the ground with shock.
All our mother did was throw her a vial of liquid in answer. As my sister picked it up the scene blurred again and I was released from the mirror freezing grip.
I stood there shocked. Just how trashy were all of them? I had no idea what this place was, or where it was even at. All I knew was one thing, it could view where I was from and tell me what happened after my death.
I shakily breathed out a sigh of breath. The ache in my temples was growing stronger. It felt lonely without glitch’s company. I was so used to glitch being there even if glitch was just a program. It was almost like having a real friend.
I walked further down to another mirror. This one was more ornate than the rest. It stood in the center without any other mirrors surrounding it. It had a black frame with silver thorns wrapping around it. Instead of being blurred the mirror was just pitch black like the void around it. I hadn’t even touched it yet and the cold was already seeping into my skin. My breath came out fogged with cold.
As my finger hovered near it, and before I could even touch it snow flakes drifted down from above. I looked up gasping in shock but there were no clouds, only the void. The snow seemed to only appear near me. I delicately held out a hand and captured a snowflake and it melted just like it was real.
“This is a bad idea. This is not how you survive a horror movie moment…” I whispered as I touched the mirror anyways. The cold filled my whole body this time. I cried as it burned me. It felt like it was hours before the mirror at long last began to show an image. 
Through my tears I saw a strange sight. It was my funeral. Everything seemed normal except for a single figure completely in white. The kind of white that burns your eyes and makes you go crazy. The type you find in mental hospitals to soothe the patients even if it only makes it worse.
The figure also had on a pure white lace veil, and all the clothing of the figure had silver thorns embroidered on the fabric. The fabric was misty at the end like fog, and the figure held an ornate silver mirror that mimicked the design of the one I was touching.
The figure walked slowly to my coffin in the image I saw. No one seemed to see it unlike me. The figure stroked my hair carefully where my body rested in my coffin. Despite my body’s gruesome appearance my casket was open. Another insult from my family I suppose. The figure bent down and kissed my forehead through its veil which quite frankly creeped me out. Looking at my bloody appearance made bile rise up in the back of my throat.
I tried to remove my hand from the mirror as I shook with a bit of fear. I couldn’t let go though and was forced to stay and watch as the figure reached its hand through my chest and pulled out a glowing light I could only assume was my soul. The figure then placed it carefully and lovingly in its mirror.
How could something dressed in white, which is usually associated with good things, seem so terribly wrong and terrifying…? The figure slowly turned around and gazed out as if it could see me and it waved gracefully. As it stepped closer to my sight I shook upon instinct. Every part of my being told me this thing was other and bad.
A hand of the figure reached out through the mirror and laced with my hand that was stuck against it. I yelled out in pain as the freezing feeling worsened at its touch. The figure said nothing and simply held my hand a moment before letting go. As it let go and returned completely to its side of the mirror, the mirror turned pitch black again and released me. I yanked my hand away and looked at it frantically. The tips of my fingers had turned blue with cold and I could hardly feel them. I rubbed them desperately to warm them up.
The ache in my head worsened and eventually I felt my gaze darken as I passed out. When I came to, I was back in my room in the House of Lamination. I panted frantically as I looked for any damage to my body. I looked completely fine for some reason. “Glitch?!” I cried out.
“I recommend a course of action that’s quieter.” Glitch said, appearing before me.
“What was that?!” I whispered frantic still.
“That was the omnipresent beings' inner realm. It appears you were called there by his decision.”
“Was that thing… him?” I asked, shaking a bit still.
“Yes, that figure was the omnipresent being.” Glitch explained carefully. “The omnipresent being rarely interacts personally with a test user. To do so is odd behavior for him. You must be particularly amusing to him.”
“Amusing…? My suffering is amusing?!”
“As I have previously stated this loudness is not a recommended course of action.”
I slumped against my pillow as I stared at the ceiling. No wonder I was terrified. I just met a being beyond my comprehension. A being that decided to defy my death effortlessly and stick me in a whole new reality… I’m never touching one of those mirrors again.
As I rolled over to go back to sleep sighing shakily, I could almost swear I saw a fleeting glimpse of a white figure in my mirror. But surely I was just imagining things…

2/5 Straw Hats 👒👒
(its more of a 2.5 if im honest)
The good:
Lovely to see Zeff and Garp interact, they had a wonderful date
Yup, 5/5 sad backstories made me weep
Emily Rudd, you have my respects
I will say this, this show did know how to add more diversity to the charecters, i know a lot of people complained about the casting for Nojiko and fuck that, i loved LA Nojiko even if she was there for little screentime
Ehh could've been better:
Beyond Nami backstory and the iconic scene at the end, i legit cant tell you what else happens i this ep and i just watched it (besides Garp and Zeff that is)
The village seemed so off and tuned down. Idk, whit the care and desing than went into every other set it was a shame the village seemed like 5 huts in a circle
I def not vibe with the tone they gave Arlong Pirates. In the anime, eventually we find out about the past between humans and fishmen and the racial tension that exists and how much it influences Arlong. Here the racial theme is very heavy (which is not on itself a problem), but on top of that, why on earth they made the Arlong Pirates the steriotypical black gangster street crew?? Idk it felt very lazy and unoriginal, not a graceful mirroring. The clothes, the music, the hang out spot. I feel like a bunch of white men from the 90s came up with the concept. I dont vibe with the gangsta' thing they tried to pull, specially considering the combination with the racial theme.
I do not appreciate they made Zoro more antagonistic towards Sanji when in reality Zoro has always being reacting to Sanji's attacks, but this is just me speaking as a longtime Zoro fan lol
The plot felt rushed at the end. They spend the whole episode in a flashback and when came back they had 10 min left of ep and a whole charecter development moment to cram in there. I feel it would've worked better if Nami had run to the village and found it ablaze or already burned. Then her anger and desperation would truely being uncontrolable, her whole world and hope dissapeared before her, and end the episode with Luffy screaming to the skies that ofc he will help her. Instead she stops running just bc, in the middle of the field?, and the ep ends in a cliffhanger that was not necessary
Is not that i didnt like the ep, i enjoyed it too but i just think some things were a bit off

Why The Great Wall (2016) is great
Preamble
It might be exaggerated to say that this movie set me on the path I’m on today, but it is not entirely untrue. I first watched in the tiny cinema in the town I went to school in, when it was released. I had free admission because I wrote critiques for the local newspaper, which at that time cooperated with our school newspaper. (Between us: I wasn’t even a member of the school newspaper). I watched The Great Wall all alone in the movie theatre, and I enjoyed it a lot. I then send my critique to the newspaper and didn’t think about the movie again, until I applied to university two years later. Wanting to impress I included the critique I wrote about The Great Wall in my application, because in it I discussed the costumes and now wanted to study textile culture. My application reached the department’s film nerd, who furthermore was passionate about Asian cinema (though I won't go so far as to say that The Great Wall can be counted as Asian movie, it's a Chinese-American movie, or an American movie with chinese influence). I got accepted as a student. My critique of The Great Wall probably was only a small part of why I was accepted, but I keep rewatching it and still enjoy it almost seven years later.
The Main Part
Some of you will now ask why I keep rewatching it, because at best it’s a mediocre fantasy-history-action film and at worst it’s a prime example of a stupid plot with a cherry of white savorism on top (that topic requires a different kind of brainpower than I have available right now) . I hear you and you’re not wrong, except that there is more to the movie:
The costume design is striking. The colours, the flow of the cloaks, the animals worked into the individual units’ uniforms. Furthermore, the characters clothing is used for storytelling and consistent within the world. Matt Damon’s character William for example starts the movie in a worn down, roughly woven shawl, which General Lin Mae (played by Jing Tian) removes, revealing the soldier’s uniform underneath. In this moment Williams lie of being a lost merchant is revealed by his clothing. As for world consistent clothing, Williams wears the same undershirt for the entirety of the movie. At one point it gets washed, but it is never changed, even at the end, when he wears an archer’s armour of the Nameless Order over it. This seems like a basic thing for a million dollar production to get right, but once you start paying attention to it you realise it not.
Though not very subtly the movie makes a good point of discussing themes of greed and individualism vs. loyalty and collectivism. William’s motivation at the beginning of the movie is to get as much black powder as possible and get rich by selling it. Once he encounters it and is helplessly trapped in the explosions black powder weapons cause, he realises that black powder is powerful weapon and needs to be used only in the direst circumstances. The Nameless Order keeps the secret of black powder to protect the world from the destruction careless use of black powder would entail. The conceptualise Black Powder not as a commodity, but a necessary evil. Furthermore the members of the Nameless Order are never unnecessarily cruel or violent, not even towards their prisoners. This negotiation of necessary violence vs. violence to establish dominance (as often seen in other American Action movies) is one that I greatly enjoy.
Connected to the last point: ✨TEAM WORK✨. Everybody in the Nameless Order has an individual skill and they work together to help each other. It’s nice to see, because there isn’t one leader that always calls the shots and everybody’s expertise is respected and used. There is a whole division of female soldiers, whose smaller stature and lighter body weight, allows for them to kamikaze dive down the wall and kill Tao Tei in a truely athlectic way.
Zhang Yimou (the director) had clear vision and he executed it. Scenes mirror each other and they connect the Tao Tei story line to that of the captive westerners trying to steal black powder and escape with it. In one scene you see the tunnel the Tao Tei dug through the wall, the following scene opens with a shot of a hole in a wall where Sir Ballard stashed his stolen black powder for his escape. Again this is not necessarily subtle, but it is well made and consistent throughout the movie.
The sets are cleverly used. I’m sure the same corner staircase was used in three different scenes, but I can’t be sure, because every time the camera angle is different, so the space looks unique very time.
The score is amazing. It was composed by Ramin Djawadi, the same guy that did the sound track for Game of Thrones and Pacific Rim (that’s an amazing movie too, go watch it after you listened to the sound track of The Great Wall). There are some amazing choir sequences in the score and a lot of the melodies is played by a cello, which is a highly underrated instrument. There is also bombastic orchestra drumming and mandarin singing. I love it and it makes every grocery store trip epic.
Also there is a dude in full armour doing the dishes. Baby.

That did not stop her from going out and exploring though. She can tell you every plant location in all of Brindelton Bay and crossbreed about every single flower you can think off. When she was younger. she often snuck out, to hang out with friends and explore the local woods and parks. She would collect flowers to take home and inspect. This love for nature manifested itself in her career as well. After choosing to not attend Uni, she chose to jump straight into the local Brindelton Bay gardener scene. One day at the house warming party of her eldest brother Sami. She got introduced to his friend and colleague Suleiman. The two are now married and have two kids of their own. They are even thinking about having a third. After Sami and Faiz left the nest, Abdul and Zahra decided to inherit their family home to Ishtar and her family. Suleiman Osman Outgoing - Creative - Lazy - (Gregarious) Aspiration: Leader of the Pack (in progress) Suleiman attended Uni with Sami, where the two quickly became best friends. After meeting his best friends sister though, he felt conflicted. It was love at first sight. Very unusal for the capital R rake Suleiman used to be during his Uni times, as Sami will attest. Thankfully Sami was very understanding. Not only that, but he set the two up on a date right after his housewarming party. Suleiman is now not only Samis best friend but also brother in law, aswell as his business partner. Though outgoing and never wanting to be tied down, Suleiman found happiness in Brindelton Bay and is excited to expand his family even more (even if that means renovating the house). In his free time Suleiman is the leader of one of Brindelton Bays most prestigious high society clubs, which meets in the Lounge by the pier. Exclusive access only of course. Amani Osman Neat - Clumsy - (Home Turf) Aspiration: Perfectly Pristine (in progress) With her parents being kind of aloof, in Amanis opinion, it has always been her task to keep the house from looking like a mess. And Amani hates mess. Her one escape and the only time she can truely relax, is when she gets to hang out with her cousin Layla. Maybe even play video games and just laugh. In her very rare free time, when she's not with her family, she loves to read and write poems or screenplays. Especially the ones where the small town girl runs to the city and makes it BIG (sometimes she practices lines from her favorite movie "Roaring Vice" in the mirror). She has never shown them to anyone except for Layla and doesn't plan to either! Her biggest wish is to move away from the quaint coastal town (maybe something nice and warm like Oasis Springs? Just bigger and more glam *wink wink*) and let her creativity run free. Abdul Kareem Osman Clingy The youngest of the family and the cutest little toddler you could ever meet. Named after Ishtars and Suleimans Fathers respectively. He loves to be close to his family and stack his blocks neatly, the way his older sister taught him!

More seriously: You bring forth a lot of really good arguments and it's intriguing to replay TBB03 in my head with your added commentary. So I'd like to add my two cents.
First of all, "We’re meant to believe that his time on Tantiss and Hemlock’s attempted reconditioning has changed him as a person. Which is all fine and dandy until you realize that this new character we get feels more like he’s gone through therapy rather than trauma." rings very true. It's like Omega changes him through her sheer prescense into a big softie - it's inhearently not a bad idea, but it happens way too fast. I could imagine that Cross three years later has tuned down his aggressions and his urge to defend himself but in the span of one day I don't see him leaving his very combative and confrontative personality behind, especially if reuniting with the Batch means that he was wrong - and oh boy, I don't think that Crosshair of all persons would admit this openly during the first months back together. It would be more like "a certain lieutenant let me down personally" instead of "I was wrong about the Empire as whole".
Also "he rolls over at the first sign of conflict" - looking at episode 4 I agree. The guy who started a fight with Jesse over curious looks is the same who lets himself be ordered around by a child? Feels ooc to me. (Personally, I would have let them play cards as doubles in this scene because it would have underlined that they work together now as brother and sister without hierarchies and it would have been an awesome opportunity to let Crosshair show off his amazing eyesight like in utilizing some tiny mirror in the background to see the Imps cards! And probably Crosshairs sparkling personality would have let the situation escalate far more earlier so that the detour with the animal smuggling would have been superfluous.)
"[T]hese first two season have felt like they were steadily building towards a confrontation between these two." - Exactly, after all the second season hammered Hunters POV through Crosshairs thick skull that he's replaceable for the Empire. So a call-back to the training room argument would have been perfect to tie all of it up and to reestablish a meaningful connection between them and let's be real: Hunter still owes Crosshair an apology for not trying more.
Regarding the PTSB-bit: When you put it like that (personally, I think it's grand that they even tried to include this ugly side-effect of torture and war), my knee-jerk reaction is "you're so right". After all, Crosshairs conflict up to this point was to discover that being loyal towards a cruel system doesn't give him anything, being loyal towards people/family gives him purpose and courage. To conclude this I had expected/hoped that he joins Echo and the Clone rebellion as atonement and because of his insider information.
Earning again the trust of his family and even more the other clones would have been a compelling sub-plot, even more when the mistrust runs deeper than "oww, he's a Dad, ofc we have to trust him" (sorry, this scene is cute and everything but when looked at it more closely it feels hollow, there I agree as well besides the Howzer-bashing that went on). But this couldn't happen due to time issues (albeit these were partially home-made considered that this season was the shortest of all three by far).
The PTSB-bit would have fitted better to Wrecker as a response to Techs "death" or the loss of Omega since he had no compelling sub-plot of his own so far (except the chip-thing, but that's more chip-plot than truely a Wrecker-plot). Loosing his strength or his ability to run odd jobs to care for Omega would probably influence him a lot. Otherwise, Hunter would be a candidate for this - after all, his senses are in Season 3 nowhere near the level that they had in TCW07, so experiencing that his senses are on the fritz would have amplified his character arc because as a family father, he doesn't need them anymore.
Anyway, these are only some thoughts that crossed my mind after reading your meta.

Alright, I’m saying it
I hate what they did with Crosshair in season three
Yes, the entirety of season three, barring maybe only the first three episodes. Let me elaborate.
I’ve been seeing people be more open about criticizing the finale and it’s given me the push to be more open about my own thoughts. And since I still advertise myself as a Crosshair girlie, I think this is a good place to start.
I really honestly don’t like the majority of what they did with Crosshair’s character this season. And yes, that includes the hand tremors. From the myriad things that felt out of character for him to making him a walking exposition dump, to completely stripping him of his more interesting qualities I honestly struggle to see him as the same character I loved right up until the end of season two.
I almost understand why so many people have come around on him – it’s because he’s a completely different character. We’re meant to believe that his time on Tantiss and Hemlock’s attempted reconditioning has changed him as a person. Which is all fine and dandy until you realize that this new character we get feels more like he’s gone through therapy rather than trauma.
New Crosshair is much more agreeable. He’s mild, he rolls over at the first sign of conflict, he talks about his emotions at the drop of a hat and there’s barely any meaningful tension between him and the other characters (not one that’s not forced anyways).
And my question is, why? If we’re just going to use off screen trauma (off. screen. trauma???) to change characters willy nilly then what even is the point of watching a show?
Say I suddenly wanted to make Wrecker this very angry character with a short fuse and I decide that he got an injury off screen that’s causing him chronic pain. It makes sense logically while at the same time making zero sense for him, even less so if you don’t see it play out, because it erases core parts of the character that we already know.
One of the first things Crosshair does in tcw is start a fight. Crosshair has always been a belligerent guy. He literally responds to being hurt by attacking. Where is that combativeness now? I would even go as far as to say that he’s been the primary source of conflict for the group since season one and I don’t even mean that in a bad way. Crosshair bites back. He hides pain by trying to inflict it, he talks back, he challenges, he digs his heels in to the point of proactively making bad life choices.
And the reason why he’s worked so well in this team so far is because his tendencies were counteracted by those around him, right up until the inevitable rift caused by the chip. I could go on about Wrecker and Tech but we all know that the main counterbalance, Crosshair’s foil here, is Hunter. Hunter is supposed to be the one that deescalates, they’ve gotten along so far because he’s the one that handled rising tensions (it’s the reason he’s the leader of their group to begin with. Remember who deescalated that fight in tcw? Remember who started it?) Where Crosshair pushes, Hunter puts a stop to it. Where Crosshair attacks, Hunter deflects, maybe sometimes too much.
And these first two season have felt like they were steadily building towards a confrontation between these two. We wanted Hunter to snap at Crosshair on Pabu because we’ve been craving it. This whole time Crosshair’s been saddled with more and more trauma, unresolved tensions from as far back as season one (which we all seem to have forgotten about as if that story never happened, tldr I’m still bitter no one addressed the Crosshair being abandoned subplot, hello remember that) while the narrative has simultaneously been stripping Hunter of his patience; months of anxiety and frustration and stress chipping away at him and wearing him down so that we can finally get to see these characters clash. The perfect recipe for all of that tension exploding and being set loose.
And what did we get instead?
A tiny little spat. An argument that gets interrupted before fizzling out (because Crosshair can talk about feelings all of a sudden). We got Hunter in the exact right position only for the show to purposefully strip Crosshair of his characteristic belligerence because apparently we don’t want to see any conflict. It’s like they’re teasing us – look Hunter’s on the verge of snapping but Crosshair’s the bigger man now so we don’t get to see that! Why??? What part of that was satisfying?? We got Crosshair pushing back for the tiniest of seconds and resolved two seasons of tension in half an episode. Where they had to fight a giant worm. In what universe is that a satisfying conclusion.
The only reason I can think of is that this mirror development is supposed to be some kind of irony or subversion but honestly that explanation falls so flat in the face of our expectations as an audience.
And the thing is, I think even the authors realized that they had nuked their most intriguing character. Because once they removed his established response to trauma, which was all of those wonderfully complex emotional reactions, they realized they needed to manifest it in some other way. So we got the hand tremors.
Now Crosshair doesn’t get angry or stubborn he just gets jittery. And I know this sounds dismissive but the only reason that is is because the show itself deals with it in a completely ham-fisted and surface-level way.
I hated the hand tremor subplot. Me. Someone who spent two years being disabled because of neural damage to my hands that prevented me from doing the hobbies I used to define myself as a person. Someone who spent two years depressed and dysfunctional because of the loss of identity and purpose I suffered because of that disability.
So no I’m not fucking happy that they used something as serious as ptsd to spice up a character they themselves made bland in the first place. For no reason other than a subplot that went literally nowhere. A subplot that was shish kebabed after an underwhelming fight scene.
Don’t even get me started on the pun level writing of chopping said hand off.
But back to Crosshair… or what’s left of him after this season (see I can make a pun too). Crosshair was already interesting enough as a character without the added hand tremor subplot and I'm dying on that hill.
The thing is, they were so intent on pushing this new, watered down version of Crosshair that even more reasonable, level-headed characters had to be thrown under the bus, made irrationally aggressive next to him to try and make us believe it. I have a lot to say about Howzer this season but the only thing I’ll say for now is that he’s the most prominent victim of this, along with his entire retconned season one plotline.
And speaking of victims, I can’t help but feel like I need to apologize to all the Tech fans out there once again. Because what I think actually happened is that Tech was never the writers’ favorite and was never meant to get any sort of satisfying conclusion.
That was always Crosshair.
The focal point of season one. The most prominent source or drama and conflict. The character who drove the plot forward even when he appeared in a fraction of episodes. The character who got the most development (even if that development spiraled wildly out of control at the end). Nearly every major subplot in this show happened in relation to or in favor of Crosshair’s arc. Tech’s death. Omega’s capture. The CX clones. The hand tremors. All of the meaningful developments and events reserved for two characters in this show, Omega and Crosshair. (Some would argue Hunter as well but really, did Hunter get any development as a character? Spoiler alert, a happy ending is not the same as a character arc.)
My guess is that this was always meant to be the case. The writers just weren’t prepared for the fans’ response to Tech’s death, it caught them off guard, and here’s one more reason why I think creators should stay away from social media or any kind of prolonged fan interaction. Because all it got us in the end was some form of cruel teasing, them trying to ride the wave of attention and thinking their original plans would make up for it when that wave inevitably crashed.
But anyway.
What happens when you dump a bunch of pain and suffering onto a character with a problematic response to adversity? Apparently it makes them emotionally intelligent, at least according to this show. Crosshair in season three feels like a shadow of his former self – the combativeness and complex emotional responses that made him so interesting to begin with are gone, replaced with a ham-fisted manifestation of trauma that gets resolved in an equally ham-fisted way.
And I’m just not on board with that. Nor will I ever be. Even if you give me all the supposed emotional payoffs, hugs or whatever.

Authors Note: This took a lot longer to write than I had anticipated. I've had a rough week in my personal life and truely, the angst and the making up of this ended up being pretty therapeutic.

Looking in the rear vision mirror, you rub your sweaty hands on your jeans before running them over your hair, checking that it’s still in place. It’s dark, you can barely see and the streetlights are not sufficient to check your makeup, but you try to look anyway. You’re also stalling.
“Fuck it.”
Steeling yourself, you draw on every last bit of courage you have and get out of your car. You close the door as quietly as you can manage, and wince as you lock the doors and the headlights flash.
You pull your v-neck down over your hips then stick your hand in your bra and reposition your tits. Your shake your head and ask yourself for the millionth time, What the fuck are you doing? 
You should have worn something else, something a bit less provocative because you know he’s going to know exactly what you’re trying to do.
Drawing in a deep calming breath, you straighten your shoulders and walk to the door you haven’t knocked on in three weeks. You start confident, but with each step your will seems to wane and by the time you climb the few stairs to his porch, your knees are trembling and your hands are shaking.
The moment your foot hits the timbre decking the porch light comes on and you are momentarily blinded.
Fuck. 
You had forgotten about the sensor light.
You’re frozen in place, unsure whether to keep going or run back to the car. As you agonise over your decision, a dog lets out a low growl and you gasp.
Shit. 
“Shhh, Aika,” you take the remaining steps to the door and whisper, “It’s only me, girl.”
Her growl turns into a playful bark, and you can see in your mind's eye the way she’s probably sitting with her tail wagging enthusiastically.
“Aika! Hush,” you say a little louder, but she ignores you and barks again, then you can hear her scratch at the door. 
Fuck. 
You aren’t ready.
If Sy wasn’t already aware that there was someone on his porch, there is no doubt he knows now; there’s no way he didn’t hear Aika barking. Losing all courage you turn and run down the porch steps like a criminal fleeing the scene of a crime, pulling your keys from your bag, praying you don’t trip in the dark.
You don’t make it far when you hear your name.
Shit.
You close your eyes, grit your teeth, plaster a smile on your face and turn around.
Immediately you want to close your eyes again and you thank every God you have ever heard of that Sy was too far away to hear the whine that forced its unwelcomed way up your throat. Wearing only light blue jeans, they weren’t even done up, he fills the doorway with his bulk and stands like Adonis with his bare chest puffed out and his arms crossed.
You avert your eyes as you climb the steps again, concentrating on Aika. She’s sitting just like you thought she’d be, tail wagging and everything. She makes you smile, you had missed her, and as if your smile is a sign, she bolts through Sy’s legs. You giggle, as she stands at the top of the porch steps and you reach out to give her a pat.
“Aika,” Sy calls sternly.
For a second Aika seems torn, looking from you to Sy, then back to you. He grimaces then purses his lips to make a kissing noise and calls her back. Aika takes one more look at you before she runs back into the house between Sy’s legs.
Biting your lip you finally raise your eyes to look at him. The look he gives you makes your guts churn. He doesn’t appear pleased to see you, not one bit. 
You feel like such an idiot.
You clear your throat to greet him, but he speaks first.
“Sugar,” he says in a husky voice, somehow managing to make your old pet name feel like an insult in his mouth, “What do you want?”
“I…” you flounder, licking your lips as you try to collect yourself, “I thought…” 
You try to find the words to explain what you’re feeling, but the eyes that flatly stare back at you aren’t giving you any sign that he wants to hear anything you have to say. His tongue runs over his teeth and he sighs.
Jesus.
He couldn’t make his annoyance any plainer if he tried.
“I just…” you try again. God, this is hard. “Can I come in?” 
You start to climb the steps, but he raises his eyebrows at you and you stop short. He keeps staring at you in a way that makes you feel like he’s looking into your soul, like Anubis weighing your heart after death, deciding whether or not to gobble you up.
He looks at you for so long, you think he is going to say no, then abruptly and without a word, he stands back from the doorway and sweeps his arm out in invitation.
Your throat tightens as you climb the stairs. You keep your eyes on the ground as you walk past him and try not to make a sound as your nose picks up the scent of his spicey soap. You catch a whiff of his woodsy beard oil; it was the same one you had given him for his birthday and then you smile. Maybe it isn’t hopeless after all.
He closes the door behind you and you stand awkwardly in the entryway, still unable to really look at him. His fingers briefly brush your skin as he lifts your bag off your shoulder and hangs it by the door. It was a familiar gesture, one he’d done a hundred times, but this time it made you gulp.
“Want a drink or anythin’?'' he asks. Even while annoyed he is polite, a good host. His mother would be proud.
“Maybe a glass of water,” you say, softly, raising your eyes to find him looking intently at you. 
Sy’s tongue slides swiftly over his bottom lip before he pulls it into his mouth and gives you that hard stare again as if he’s trying to read a deeper meaning to your words. 
“Water,” he repeats as he half smiles and you wonder what he finds amusing. He lifts his chin, using it to point to the couch. “Go on, I’ll bring it out.”
Aika is sitting on her blanket, her ears lift as you enter the room. As soon as you sit, she pads over, popping her head on your knee like she used to. You scratch behind her ear, grinning as you watch her tail swish and her hind leg tremble with pleasure.
“Miss you too girl,” you murmur softly. 
Sy comes in with a glass of water and a beer, and he places the water on the coffee table. He looks at the sofa, then over at a single seater and you see his mind working, deciding if he should sit next to you or across the room. He snaps his fingers and points to the blanket and Aika pads away, giving Sy room to sit next to you and he opens his beer. Although you sigh with relief, the crack of the can seems abnormally loud in the awkward silence between you and your anxiety rises until you feel like your heart is going to burst from your chest.
“So,” you say, “how have you been?”
He looks at you a long time before he exhales roughly through his nose and shakes his head. 
“Busy,” he says, waving an arm around the room and for the first time you notice the moving boxes. 
“Right.” 
It’s not that you forgot he is moving, it’s the reason you had the argument in the first place, but you were more focussed on other things. 
“When are you leaving?”
“In a week,” he says.
“Not long then.”
“Nope,” Sy says, popping the ‘p’ as he says it. He moves his head side to side as if arguing with himself and his annoyance returns. “I can’t do this,” Sy puts his beer on the table, “Just cut the bullshit, Sugar and tell me what you want. Why are you here?”
“I… I don’t know,” you stammer, unable to hide your nervousness from him any longer.
“You don’t know,” he says each word slowly, drawing them out. His eyes run over your body and he leans in closer. “I think you know exactly why you’re here.”
“I just wanted to tell you I’m sorry.”
“What else,” he asks in a throaty tone that makes your mouth feel dry.

You stand, folding your arms angrily across your chest, and talk over him, “You’re not giving me a chance to explain.”
“To explain or to dig the knife in just that little bit further,” Sy’s jaw clenches as he turns away from you and he slams his mouth shut as though he has more to say and is biting back the words.
“I’m not here to hurt you,” your voice cracks and frustrated tears sting your eyes, “I never wanted to hurt you.”
The tone of your voice makes Sy turn back to you. His eyes are wide and his brows are pinched and raised. 
“I don’t want us to be over,” you sniff, trying to get control of yourself, “I don’t want to lose you, but you’re asking me to give up everything I’ve worked for without even considering giving anything up yourself.”
Sy’s hands cover your cheeks and he wipes the tears from your eyes. “I tried to tell you, I gotta go where they say when they say it. I told you,” his voice lowers and he softens his expression as he rests his forehead against yours, “that I wasn’t the right man for you.”
“But you are, Sy,” you whisper, “You’re everything I could hope for.”
“But here we are. You’re cryin’ and my heart is breaking cause I can’t do a thing about it.”
“You’re worth crying for.”

As empty headed as a zombie you crawl into bed a few hours later. You cried on the way home, cried in the shower, cried as you tried to watch a movie to get your mind off Sy, cried as you tried to read. “Not forever. I didn’t say that. Just for now.”
There’s another long pause before he speaks. “What are you saying?”
“I've only been at this job for twelve months, it's not enough time to really get the experience I need,” you explain, “If I stay for another year, I’ll be able to apply for more jobs. I should be able to get a job near you much easier and without starting from the bottom again.”
“A year?” Sy asks, drily.  “A year?”
“Sy that's nothing in the scheme of things.”
“We had plans,” Sy states without any explanation, but you don’t need any. You know what plans he had; white picket fences, a yard, marriage, kids, the whole nine yards.

“You went Officer for yourself,” you retort.
“I did it for us, for the money, so we didn’t have to go through this shit, worryin’ about you workin’.”

His silence is eerie.

You thought your tears were done, but your chin wobbles and your eyes sting. “I’m going to hang up.”

You don’t say anything, you just hum, hoping he takes it as acceptance of his apology.

His thumb wipes under your eye, you didn’t even realise you had started to cry.
“Don’t think about it, Sugar,” Sy murmurs as he moves to kiss your cheek, “Just think about here and now.”
“I almost lost you, I’m so… We’re okay aren’t we?” you whisper, because it doesn’t seem right to say it any louder.
“Hush. I’ve got you now and we’re good. I’m here. You’re here. Just be with me.”
He holds you close and rolls onto his back and sits up. Your mind spins, his strength always surprises you in the best way possible.
Sy’s looking up at you now, grinning wickedly he playfully jerks inside you. You giggle and squirm, but your breath catches he lifts his hips and slides in deeper.
“God, Sy,” you murmur, encircling his neck with your arms.
His hands move up and down your sides, he watches the path of his touch before they settle on your hips and he looks at you. 
“Take me, baby,” he urges, his thumbs rubbing softly against your skin. “I’m all yours.”
You cup his cheeks, letting your fingers sink into his beard, as you rise slowly and dip.
“So good, baby,” he groans, sliding his hands around your ass, lifting you as you rise up, “So fuckin’ good.”
“I love you,” you whisper.
He exhales roughly and puts a hand to your nape and pulls your mouth to his, “I know,” he growls. “And I fuckin’ love you.”
His kiss is lingering, his touch careful, considerate and every caress restrained and deliberate. His hands move over your back in delicate sweeps and across your chest with subtle pressure as he cups the weight of your breasts gently. His mouth is soft and gentle against your tight buds.
You want more, but Sy keeps it slow, so taking matters into your own hands you lean back a bit, resting your hands on his thighs so he hits that spot deep within you. Immediately you feel hotter, your skin burning and your head lull’s back because all you can concentrate on is keeping yourself upright as you grind against him.
“Jesus, baby,” Sy groans, “Fuck me, look at you…”
You lift your heavy head and Sy’s eyes are waiting. Your heart skips a beat at his look, before pounding even harder in your chest. You’ve never felt more beautiful than at this moment.
Without breaking eye contact, he brings his thumb to his lips, giving it a quick swipe of his tongue. He groans, as he covers your clit, and you feel his touch surge up your spine like lightning.
Losing yourself in the fierceness of his stormy blue eyes you grind against him, climbing once again to your peak. Sweat breaks out across your forehead and chest but it doesn’t bother him as he leans forward licking and suckling at your breasts, muttering soft praises and encouragement.
“That’s it. That’s what I want,” he whispers, “Feelin’ so good.”
He supports your lower back with a large, powerful hand as you lose control as your thighs shake and your arms grow weak. 
“Sy…” 
“I’ve got you, baby,” he assures you, “Let go for me.”
His thumb moves faster and presses slightly harder to help you along. Despite how good it feels it almost throws you off-course. He knows you so well, knows exactly how to touch you to get you to fall over the edge and for a moment you’re right back in despair, thinking about how you almost lost him. It's not only that he knows what you like that makes him special, it's that he cares enough to find out, to file that information away, and to use it when you need it.
God, you love him for that; for putting you first in everything, not just when he makes love to you. That's what he’s doing, right now, loving you and putting you first, like he always has.
Your heart feels like it's going to burst as you sob out his name and the euphoric heat of your peak rolls through your body.
As your body cools and Sy clutches you to his chest, you keep asking yourself one question; How are you going to spend a year without him?

Sy is dripping with sweat as he brings in the moving boxes from your car with Aika padding along behind him, his white undershirt is damp and clinging temptingly to his body. Your heart starts to race but you remind yourself that finally, after twelve months apart, and seeing each other only a dozen times, this time there will be no goodbye. You can wait until tonight before you run your fingers through the thick curls on his chest and gently tease his nipple with a scrape of your teeth and a lick while he shivers and pretends not to like it.
“Last one. More books,” he grunts, breaking you from your daydream. He leans down to give you a quick peck as he walks past. “Gonna open a goddamn library.”
He’s smiling though. You don’t think anything could dampen his mood today. You are moving in together and in three months you’ll be married and three months after that…
“You okay?” he asks, brows a little furrowed. “Been a long day. Why don’t ya lay down and have an afternoon nap, huh? Unpackin’ can wait a while.”
“I’m not suddenly made of glass, Sy,” you say smiling, watching him place the last box on the ground and straightening.
He smirks and steps in closer to you, wrapping his humid arms around you. “I know. But you’ve been tired and nauseous and—”
“And I don’t feel tired or nauseous anymore.” You slide your hands under his shirt, feeling your way up his body with a grin.
“Oh really?”
You nod slowly, biting your lip and lazily swaying your hips against Sy. He sucks in a breath through his teeth and grabs your ass pulling you closer, rolling his hips in return.
“Woman,” he groans, “These pregnancy hormones are gonna be the death of me.”
You shrug and try to smother your grin as you say, “I can think of worse ways to go.”
Sy’s grin grows larger as he leans down to cover your mouth with his, “I can’t think of any better way to go.”

Can we talk about how literally everything about How to Train Your Dragon is just absolutely perfect.
An analysis…. an ever-so-slightly bias analysis
The animation? Stunningly beautiful. Even the shows aren’t awful. …not including Nine Realms… The water is gorgeous, the detail in simple background things like the mountains, sea stacks, trees, clouds, and even dragon scales and the IRISES of both dragon and human eyes is amazing. Not to mention the way they’re able to convey flying as both high energy and scary, yet also slow and relaxing is so incredible to me.
The characters and their designs? Couldn’t have done it better my self. Not only are the character designs for each character perfect for their unique personality’s, but they stick out from each other while simultaneously fitting together so well that you can instantly tell they belong together even if you the never seen the movies. And the way each character mirrors their dragon both in design and personality is also perfect.
On the same note, the characters are just… SO well written. The female characters each have their own unique design, goal, personality. AND they’re STRONG! You know how rare that is?! And the character growth of even background or side characters (snotlout for example) is impeccable and so realistic. Each and every character truely FEELS like they are their own person. Just another way you get so immersed in this world.
One of my biggest pet peeves of animation is the over the top voice acting. They always sound too cheery or dumbed down for younger audiences. Not httyd. The delivery of the lines is just so natural. The characters mutter to themselves, they interrupt each other, they raise their voices, they STUTTER and stammer. It’s relatable and it puts you IN their world, because I can guarantee that you’ve done all those things yourself.
I also love that’s there about a MILLION different dragons, dragon types and classes. You can really tell how much thought and care was put into it. And not only that, but each dragon has their own unique look, ability, class, personality, and VOICE. The fact that each dragon has their own voice is an amazing detail that blends in so well, it tends to go unnoticed.
The background noise and music make a beautiful and easy to recognize ambiance. There’s always some sort of background noise, even when there’s no music or speaking to fill dead air. Whether it’s birds chirping, fire crackling, wood being walked on or rocking on a ship, or the sound of giant wings beating through rough wind. It’s always there.
And the music? It makes me cry. No matter the context. There are so many video analysts you can and should watch talking about just this and the amount of care and thought John Powell put into even the smallest of ques is amazing. Each theme has a purpose. You wont hear a character’s theme just because they’re on the screen, no. You’ll hear the STORY theme that fits best in that scene. For example the Lost and Found theme from the 2nd movie. I recommend watching Film Score and More’s videos about it on YouTube.
And of course, last but MOST CERTAINLY not least, the story. Although I’m not a big fan of the final movie and definitely have my own headcanons that contradict it, the rest of the story is one that I will NEVER tamper with. While each movie, special, and TV series has their own story that takes place, there’s also the over arching story. One of growth, acceptance, and learning to let go. And it carries over even through the mini story’s that take place along the way. It’s just… beautiful. And gut wrenching. I’m a good way.
In conclusion, httyd is the perfect series and I will forever die on this hill. Except for the Nine Realms. Never the Nine Realms.

#HELLO#I do See wash’s plot deviceness…he never truely gets a concrete arc and when he does it’s as a supporting role or whatever#him accepting the blues as his team and later his family supports#well.the blues. but also Carolina as it serves to farther other her in that scene#and in s17 him accepting his disability as having to happen also comes with everyone else accepting it too.#he just so happens to be the person in the middle of it all like he always is#it’s harder to spot him as a plot device compared to other plot characters when he always seems to be important to what’s happening#but that’s exactly why he’s a plot character in the first place arghh#anyway. sorry for the tangent#I always think of that ”character is alive in the future so they can’t die in the past? well don’t be so certain” post in regards to ct lol#I Wonder if the ”shot in the chest shot in the back” thing was on purpose or not.I can only hope#ct being like a stealth type who tries to make info about pfl known & wash exploding things and keeping things quiet both failing to a degre#e is also interesting i Wonder if that’s on purpose too……maybe#especially with the idea ct is loud about what she believes in while wash keeps his cards close to his chest
yes exactly! wash functions a lot like chief in the halo games in that he’s in the middle of it all because he’s who the story is being viewed through, but his development as a character is secondary to the progression of the plot. the lack of focus on his internal struggles and personal conflicts leads to a wide variety of interpretations of his development, and he shines the most when he has other characters around him to bounce off of. he’s compelling to so many people because of a solid and consistent foundation, but he’s still written in a way where he’s flexible enough to fulfill a variety of roles. wash can be a serious and cryptic protagonist, he can be an angry antagonist who’s been burned too many times, and he can be a pillar of emotional support for others. 
wash can be the force progressing the plot, and he can be the force motivating others to progress the plot. 
we’ll never know for certain, but I’m assuming a lot of the mirroring between wash and ct is/was intentional, with some things probably being more intentional than others, but there wasn’t enough time for it to be properly followed through on.

When broken down to the bare essentials Wash and C.T fulfill the same function within the story, and the differences between them as characters mostly results from how the story was executed when it came to them fulfilling that function. 
For example, everybody (myself included) complains about how C.T exists solely as a plot device in the Freelancer Saga, but nobody complains about how Wash also exists solely as a plot device in Recovery One and Recollection. I mean Reconstruction is literally the ‘omg theres a plot!?!?!?!?” season of RvB, and without Wash there is no story. 
The main reason Wash isn’t perceived in the same way as C.T is due to the level of freedom the writers had when it came to telling the story they wanted to tell. The Blood Gulch Chronicles and Out of Mind set the foundations for Recovery One and Recollection, but it was through Wash that the lore of RvB was reconstructed into a cohesive story. The unexplainable was explained, the unelaborated was elaborated upon, and all the wacky hijinks and random bits and bobs of the previous seasons were tied together in a way that answered the question asked in episode one: Why are all of these idiots stuck in a canyon in the middle of nowhere while being separated into color coded teams that are fighting each other?
C.T however did not have the same level of freedom as Wash, and this is because of pfl’s nature as a prequel combined with the pacing of those seasons. We pretty much already knew everything about her that there was to know, so there was no point in hiding anything or taking it slow because of that, hence the painfully obvious foreshadowing. This approach to the Freelancer Sage, and C.T’s story is what leads to her essentially having the same arc as Wash, just reversed—or more accurately described; mirrored, like Chief and Arbiter in Halo 2.
A majority of the reversal and/or mirroring between them manifests in their personalities, which I actually talk about some here, but some examples of the phenomenon in regards to actual plot points are:
They are both introduced as recovery agents (or rather fake C.T, who was the real C.T at the time, was introduced as a recovery agent). Wash is a single agent recovering human technology from dead Freelancers, and he uses explosives to destroy the rest of the equipment to prevent information leaks. C.T is attempting to recover alien technology from a long dead civilization with the help of other aliens, and he uses explosives to make sure anyone who knows of their operation and presents a problem will be destroyed to prevent information leaks. 
We knew exactly who Wash was, who he worked for, and why he was reassembling the blues. We didn’t know who C.T was, who he worked for, and why he was fighting Tucker in the desert. 
Wash was shot in the back and survived, but failed to subdue the enemy. C.T was shot in the chest and died just as they were going to subdue the enemy.
In regards to the real C.T, some examples include:
The Meta was portrayed as the primary conflict for Wash, but in reality he had always been aiming for the destruction of Freelancer. On the flip side, C.T’s fight to take down Freelancer is portrayed as the main conflict, but in reality, while poorly explained, tracking down the alien artifacts seemed to be her real goal (which is not as insane as it sounds when you remember that Charon Industries was more aligned with the UNSC proper than pfl was). 
Wash never hinted towards his plan of taking out the Meta in Recovery One to South, or his plan for destroying Freelancer to the Reds and Blues until he had the perfect opportunity to strike, and by then he had built enough trust that they were willing to help him out despite his secrecy. If they weren’t, well, he knew what to say to change their minds. C.T however wasn’t exactly subtle with her thoughts and feelings, and she didn’t build any trust with the people around her, so when she finally defected—which didn’t take a genius to see coming—no one was willing to listen to her or take her at her word, and there was nothing she could say or do to change their minds except offering concrete evidence. “I’m starting not to trust you.” vs “I can’t trust you.”
This one isn’t a plot point, but I’m going to mention it anyway because I think it’s a nice example of this subtle yet obvious mirroring I’m talking about, and shows what I was trying to replicate in my blurb that spurred me to finally write this analysis:
Counselor: Agent Washington? Agent Washington? Washington: Sorry, what were you saying? Counselor: Were you thinking about Epsilon again, Agent Washington? Washington: No. Counselor: What happened with Epsilon was not your fault, Agent Washington. Washington: I didn't think it was. Counselor: We have safeguards for the unstable emotional patterns of an artificial intelligence. Sometimes these algorithms fail. Washington: Oh. So then it's your fault. Counselor: We prefer to think of it as no one's fault.
Vs:
Washington: It wasn't your fault, Connie. Connie: Easy for you to say. You didn't drop the ball. Washington: The ball got dropped. We were all there, it's everyone's responsibility. Connie: Dammit, why are you doing that? Washington: What am I doing? Connie: Making excuses for me. I'm not making excuses for myself...why are you?
All I've mentioned above is also why C.T’s relationship with the leader and the plot twist that the C.T in the desert wasn’t the real C.T are disliked by so many, as there was nothing to justify the sudden bait and switch like there was at the end of S6. I mean, considering we see both Tex and South use voice mods to sound like men, it reads as though that was supposed to be the case with C.T as well, which makes it feel like it was changed at the last second because everyone saw it coming.
This is an issue because A) There's nothing inherently wrong with being predictable—a good plot twist always has foreshadowing, even if it won’t be registered as foreshadowing until the twist happens in certain cases—and B) The story of the Freelancer Saga as a prequel was confined in a box created by the previous seasons, and all they were doing was connecting the aforementioned events to tie up a few loose ends and properly establish Carolina's driving force in present day S10.

Okay so I'm fully aware that this film doesn't deserve the amount of thought that I'm putting into it but. The stepmother's song was heartbreaking like... I'm choosing to pretend my version of Vivian from my previous post is canon so the way the song was musically written as almost a villain song but not quite, combined with the way Idina acted it genuinely hurts and I've already rewatched it several times. And some of the lyrics in particular really stand out to me (so naturally I decide to dissect all of them)
I don't care, this is life
It's not fair, it's not right
Okay first of all we have the fact she she just believes this is how life has to be. She's a woman who has been completely destoryed, and she know it isn't right or fair but she genuinely thinks this is how it has to be, that this is the only was to live
All that hope and that pride
It's a waste, it's a lie
Anyone who thinks the concept of hope is a "waste" and a "lie" is clearly a victim of something like sorry this line hurts me
All you want is to breathe
Little girls should run free
But your corset's too tight
And your heels are too high
She clearly sees so much of herself in Ella and, I mean... look at this. These are the words of a woman who feels so trapped and has just given up and let herself be convinced that this is how the world has to be
The treasure you found? Bury it!
The only way out? Marry it!
That shadow of doubt? Carry it!
Carry it down to your grave, oh...
She feels like she has to hide anything that brings her joy, and that the only way to be safe is to marry. She doesn't even feel safe voicing her true feelings - and she isn't even wholly convinved by this system but she thinks that that means she's wrong. And that she has to carry that doubt to her grave, and just continue with the way things are done. And the really interesting thing is that, at this point in the song she leaves Ella's room. But she doesn't just walk out, no, she runs away with a face full of grief and regret for what she's forcing Ella into
The world doesn't need another dream girl
The world doesn't need another dream girl
She sings the first line alone, looking almost regretful. Like she's convincing herself that what she told Ella was right. And she repeats it into the mirror. She's tearing herself down, burying the doubt deep inside so she can save her daughters (all three of them, but especially Ella, the one who is the most like her) from the pain she felt
You're too dumb, you're too young
Full of heart, so naive
You're so blind, you're so green
You'll give up, just like me
After convincing herself that she's in the right she goes on with her tirade, berrating all of her daughters... by comparing them to herself
The wings are ornamental
They have no intention of letting you fly
First of all, this links back to the corset and the heels being a cage women are forced into, but also, she acknowledges that the temptation and illusion of freedom are right there. But women aren't allowed to try. Which is so obviously about how she was allowed to persue her dream by going to a music school, only to be torn down and insulted by her own husband for doing so. Her use of "they" shows that she isn't the one enforcing these rules - they are being imposed upon her just as much as the girls
Don't be sentimental
During this section, she's holding a butterfly. A green butterfly, so not Ella's magical godmother. Perhaps it would have been her own. But she waves it away after this line, getting rid of the oppurtunity for her life to be changed, because she's been given that chance before and it was a trap
Some legends are born in the wrong time
She knows she could have been great, but she also truely believes that women in this time aren't allowed to be. That neither she, nor Ella, nor any other woman can achieve anything but heartbreak and disappointment in the society that they live in, and that there's nothing to be done but wait. And it echoes so true for so many real women born throughout history and even into the modern day

Her daughters join in, and she's clearly been teaching them this from a young age because, despite the sadness and almost fear they show, they don't fight her like Ella does. She truely believes she can never be great, and that she'll have to live with only the broken hope of who she could have been

Proving further that this isn't a true villain song, other female character join in. The maids in the palace feel they must bury their individuality. The queen feels she had to marry the king and, in doing so, forfeited her right to an opinion. Gwen feels like she'll have to carry her ambitions to the grave, because she'll never be listened to or even taken seriously by the people with any power

More and more women join in, and Vivian just looks so sad. And the repitition of "grave" shows that she really thinks that this is her life, and that she'll die how she's lived - unfulfilled and ignored

This bit gives me chills every time because they all go absolutely feral. Every woman, even Vivian, is just kicking and tearing and screaming because it's so blindingly unfair and there's nothing they can do but they all have the same pent up rage, from the queen to the servants to the women in streets. And if reason won't work then they'll tear the whole goddamn world down. And internally that's what every woman there wants. But they all hold it in because, like Vivian, they've been punished and controlled and stepped on so many times that they've been convinced they're the problem, that everyone else is content with the system so why can't you be?

And then finally. Finally Vivian is alone again. And her hair is dishevelled and she looks like she's trying not to cry and she plays the piano so beautifully and so loudly and so wildly that she's like an entirely different person. And then she almost does cry but she shakes her head and smiles a little and I have to applaud Idina's acting because it feels so real. There are no singers, and there's no other music. Just Vivian, and everything she could have been. All the parts of her she's been repressing, finally allowed to be seen for one honest and heartwrenching moment
And it reminds me so much of the final scene in the Ibsen play Hedda Gabler (which happens to be one of my favourites). Where the controlled character of Hedda just lets go and play the piano we've never seen her touch, and she plays wildly and loudly and it's so different to how we've ever seen her before. And her husband tells her to be quiet and she says she'll never make noise again - and then she commits suicide to ensure that she doesn't
The world doesn't need another dream girl
And then this. This line breaks my heart. Because she just sings to herself in the most broken voice, in a quiet, croaked whisper as if she's afraid someone might hear. And it shows how much she's hurting, how much she wishes the world could be different. This song was never directed at Ella. She only sung it to try and save her from the life that Vivian herself lived. Vivian is the dream girl, and that line is always, always directed internally. No one else ever sings it and it's never sung with anyone else on screen. It was always about her, and it was never a villain song

What if it's Adora's... and Catra's- Dream?
::It's been eight months since The Kiss and Catradora becoming canon in one of the most breathtakingly romantic and beautiful endings of all time. Now that we've all throughly gotten to enjoy that, I'd like to take some time to explore how Adora's dream might tie into everything having to do with its ending, as well as the entire romantic arc of SPOP.

This post centers on Adora's dream, with the goal of exploring the dream as a part of the Catradora romance. Really, truely, as part of their romance. Pardon my vagueness, because it is out of kindness: if you haven't finished the series, THIS IS A SPOILER WARNING. 🚨🚨🚨 ... Good, then let's get this started-
It is highly probable that Adora’s 'dream' is a canon romantic moment for each of them, which not only Adora experiences, but so does Catra.
The dream is, instead, a spontaneous reaction of Etheria’s deep magic and their love, in particular because Catra is with Adora as she tries to save Adora through her love for her. They both share in the creating of the dream, but it's meaning is that of Catra showing her love to Adora: they are connected within the dream by way of this Etherian magic, which they have shared in before.
I say this because what we’re actually seeing is a simulation, much like the ones that Catra and Adora shared together during Promise: these simulations are based on memories and on emotions: it is Catra’s emotions which are being channeled as Etheria creates the dream for them.
We will indeed discuss the arc of their love in this post, but, this theory is based on the use of a oft neglected, but powerful, mode of storytelling:: Known as ‘visual cues’ this method of storytelling is employed by Noelle and Friends as the way to tell us the deeper meanings behind the dream sequence. And the use of these cues tells us that this is intended to be seen as a shared romantic moment for both girls, showing their love for one another.
I know, this might seem like a lot to process, after all, isn't what we see during the dream supposedly Adora’s subconscious response to Mara’s words of wisdom about love, when she asked Adora what she wants, and tells her to not give up?
And how would it even be possible for Catra to be in the simulation with Adora? To the former, Adora still had no answer to Mara’s question, like she didn't when Catra asked her what she wanted the night before. And in the dream, we watch as Adora spends almost all of it denying what she's seeing, believing she has failed her duty to save everyone as She-ra. Considering Adora’s resistance to the dream, does it make sense for the dream to be self actualized by Adora, or is what she sees originating from somewhere else, and if so, how?
As to whether Catra can be there with Adora, the answer is a resounding yes: and that's because we already know that Catra is in the dream with Adora, for part of the time. How we know this is that after Horde Prime traps Adora, Catra intervenes to save Adora and they interact: Catra reaches down to try and save Adora, ending famously with her beautiful love confession, which helps Adora find the strength to reach out to take her hand.
That we see Catra do this, and that she does it so purposefully, tells us that this is something that actually happens between the two of them:: Catra must have seen Horde Prime trap Adora, and Adora can see and hear Catra in her mind as she calls for her- Adora really does reach up to take Catra’s hand, and as she takes it, is pulled from the edge of death. It's not a metaphor at all, even though we know Catra is holding Adora's body in the real.
And so, if Catra was with Adora then, why not before, too?
To put it simply, all of the visions that Adora has, including her meeting Mara before the dream, is Etheria’s deep magic trying to help her, and so it helps to bridge the gap that's needed for Catra to share her love with Adora. After all, Etheria "is a living creature" (s5ep8) and Catra, actually, has a strong connection to Etheria’s magic, and to magic in general (we will revisit this later).
All that happens is tied together, which we'll talk about below: what Adora sees in the dream is the true beginning of Catra’s love confession, because Catra is coming through for Adora as her best self to save her, much like Adora did for Catra during Save the Cat.
::And that's where our visual cues come in, because as it turns out, the Dream and Save the Cat are related: they are related in storytelling and in emotion, but most importantly:: they are related visually.
This post will cover these similarities starting below. We’ll also take a look at two separate and distinct visual cues having to do with how Catra acts in the Dream to further the discussion, and lastly we'll cover how, in fact, all of Save the Cat and Heart Part 2 are related, starting well before the dream, continuing right through it, and afterwards as well.
But, to get this started, let's take a look at visual cue #1: when Catra offers her hand to Adora in her dream.
::During the dream, Adora has such disbelief when she finds herself in it, and she keeps this disbelief right up until the critical moment: when Catra turns to her and offers her hand to Adora, lovingly asking her if she's ready to go. That, is the moment when we finally see Adora give herself over to the idea of their love, she suspends her disbelief… only to have the moment so cruelly ripped away by Horde Prime...
As it so turns out, this sequence of events has happened before, almost exactly down to the frame by frame:: it happened during Save the Cat, when Adora offered her hand to Catra. These moments are visually similar, emotionally parallel, and story parallel as well. Here are the two scenes, and while you look at them, consider how the girls are arranged compositionally with each other:

What we have here is visual parallels, many more of which we'll discuss later. But, it goes deeper than that:: because on closer consideration, we see that the girls are arranged ‘mirror’ to each other. For example:
::In Save the Cat, Adora offers her hand to Catra from the left, and in the dream Catra offers her hand to Adora from the right-
::When Prime electrocutes Catra after she reaches for Adora’s hand, she falls downward on the right; when Adora is trapped by Prime, she sinks downward on the left, with her tears showing the direction of her descent (note, Catra’s tears were not depicted, but she is crying as Prime shocks her). This mirroring is shown repeatedly throughout the two episodes, and not just during the dream itself.
So why are these moments mirrored?
That's what this theory aims to prove, with all the muster that it can:: this mirroring is a purposeful artistic collaboration between the art and writing teams, letting us know by way of it, that we're suppose to understand how these scenes are parallel: with the meaning of this being that one girl is mirroring the other’s actions in order to save them.
Therefore, in theory:: what we're seeing during the dream is Catra mirroring the heroic love Adora shows for Catra during Save the Cat, and all of what we see in the dream is actually Catra showing her true love, is the true beginning of her love confession, and is done to save Adora. As for the other deeper, more involved reason, it is that Adora and Catra are actually parallel characters throughout the series, who vary by circumstance, but are struggling with much the same issues. (a discussion for another time, however)
For instance:: consider how similar the virus that Adora is fighting during her time in the Heart chamber is to the mind control that Catra fought in Save the Cat:: Prime is using the virus to control Adora, and she ultimately is able to reject Prime's control because of Catra’s actions- much like Catra did, after Adora showed up in Save the Cat to restore their love, telling Catra to fight Prime’s control, so that they can be home together again.
And here's the thing: if the artists and writers go to such lengths to make these scenes parallel… even moreso, the characters are mirrored, doesn't the meaning of it therefore demand that Catra be with Adora during her dream, to help her fight free of Prime’s control by showing her love to Adora, just like Adora did for Catra during Save the Cat?
Now really, what confirms this theory is the entire arc of the show, which, *puffs up cheeks* is a bit too much to cover here, so I'll save us some time and stick to a couple of themes instead. One of these will be the Catradora love arc, as it is integral to the next visual cues.
And these cues are that Catra’s truest love is shown during Adora’s dream, something which we don't see Catra do before this moment. So, sit tight for a bit, because this'll take some explaining-
Visual cues #2 and #3: Catra’s most earnest love is shown in the dream, and it's both what Adora needs to survive, and is fundamental to Catra’s redemption-
Redemption arcs are popular for a reason, and because the next cues relate so strongly to Catra's redemption, I'll be talking about how Catra’s redemption is fully realized by the honest and earnest love she shows for Adora, inside the dream as well as right before it.
In order for Catra to complete her redemption, or since that's cliche, ::for Catra to realize her best self:: she has to accept her truth as the absolute total romantic that she is, who through the braveness of her confession of love, is the one who helps their dreams come true, and brings Catradora into canon.
This is because, in all seriousness, Catra is and always has been a romantic, she's just blocked by her own traumatic experiences (plz consult Princess Prom if confused about how Catra is a romantic, 😼😹). And, she's always known she was in love with Adora- who, unlike Catra, never quite realizes her full feelings until Catra’s confession. And Catra needs to redeem herself by showing this love, because she chose to deny her love to Adora, as well as to herself, at the end of Promise after seeing how very little love and understanding Adora had to give to her in season 1. This next set of visual cues is all about how we see Catra’s feelings and actions change to reflect her true feelings of love, and that through accepting her own love for Adora, is able to help Adora to succeed in her final task.
::As Adora faces down her final challenge of disabling the Heart, Catra makes what could best be described as a decision of ‘radical love’: that she's willing to give everything she has- to help, love, and support Adora. We first see Catra’s decision to show such love right before the dream when she swears to stay by Adora’s side, and she then fully completes this love during the dream when we see Catra show her precious love for Adora.
In the dream, the Catra we see is much more tender, vulnerable, and intimate, than we’ve ever seen her be at any other time previous to this point in the series… her love is even more earnest than during their earliest memories as children. That's because we’re seeing a completely novel and honest expression of Catra's love, one which Catra hasn't been willing to show before this. Catra really needs to show her full feelings to redeem herself, not just a last second love confession. What we're seeing during the dream is her truest feelings, without her own self doubt or fears of vulnerability blocking her.
And this new love we see is part of the decision which Catra makes, right before the dream, swearing that she will stay with Adora no matter what, letting Adora know she has her full love and support as Adora faces her final task. This decision is the other half of the visual cue #2, and here’s the two moments together::

Is Catra ending up positioned so similarly just coincidence, or does it have deeper meaning as well? A couple things for consideration:
Firstly: Adora probably doesn't notice this shift in Catra’s behavior, especially before the dream, as Adora is completely focused on her burden of saving-the-entire-universe-along-with-every-last-person-in-it, which is rather a lot to expect one girl to do... even if she is She-ra. Also note: Adora is a romantically oblivious person, so there's that, too. And since she's so preoccupied by mortal peril, it really doesn't make sense for the sweet and loving Catra we see in the dream to originate from Adora’s subconscious, as Catra has never shown Adora this tender, loving version of herself: and so, it makes more sense that the magic of the simulation would be drawing from somewhere else entirely: it draws on Catra’s own feelings of love.
I know, these scenes vary in mood significantly, but the difference we're seeing in the dream is actually a heightened version of the love Catra shows before it, one where Catra is not only showing Adora that she values and supports her, but that Catra quite literally feels precious love for Adora. Catra clings to her, letting her know that she is treasured above all else, which is really, really REALLY sweet, and also really really not in line with how Catra has acted up to this point in the series...
Catra loves Adora, this is central to her arc, even during the times when she's aligned so strongly against her. Her story is about learning to accept her love, and she's reestablishing her love for Adora during these scenes... this is the total truth of her love and affection, that is.
She’s already established that she's willing to risk herself to protect Adora, such as when she tackles Melog on Krytis. But, Catra protecting Adora from harm physically isn't enough to fully redeem herself: she's also got to show the romantic love she feels which she denied to Adora so long ago. This love she feels is something that Adora continuously teases Catra over, constantly ruining the moment by misinterpreting Catra’s feelings simply as attraction, never fully realizing or acting on the romantic implications. This happened as recently as when Catra jumped into the fire to save Adora... Adora is a romantic idiot. (don't you worry, I say this with fondness) This is part of Catra's test: even though Adora never gives her a sign that she feels romantic love as well, Catra has to show her love because that's what it has always been about for her. Loving Adora properly means Catra has to accept Adora as she is, and not let her own romantic frustration block her. It's also simply the right thing to do, as they are out of time, and could all die if Adora fails... Adora's story, on the other hand, has been about becoming the hero, and Catra has to accept that yes, in total reality, Adora simply has never considered what she wants because of her burdens.
As Adora faces her final task and is feeling crushed by the weight of her burdens and fears of failure, Catra has to show this love to counter Adora’s own obliviousness and internalized emotional barriers, as Catra realizes how Adora really doesn't "get it" right up until Catra’s love confession. Adora is not seeing what she has to live for, and Catra's fully accepting Adora as who she is helps Catra to see how she can help Adora, because Adora's romantic awkwardness is really more about her emotional trauma than her love for Catra- Adora loves Catra, that much is clear. But is it romantic love? Catra takes a risk and shows her true feelings, because she knows Adora is struggling, and they are out of time... so no matter what, Catra has to show her romantic love to Adora, and luckily she's able to do so during the dream (because of the help of Etheria's magic).
We also need to talk about how Catra stands with Adora: in both moments she chooses to stand behind Adora. Catra is showing her true support to Adora, and her most honest feelings of love- something I discussed in my Promise discussion is how Catra never wanted power for herself, she just wanted to be safe, and to be with Adora. Here we have Catra, definitively showing after all this time that she doesn't want power, she just wants to love Adora.
The Catra we see in seasons 1-4 rejected Adora as She-ra, seeing her as two faced for ignoring and then abandoning her to continued abuse while fighting for others, breaking her final promise as she did. This was a trauma decision, but Catra is done letting trauma control her life. So here we see Catra choose to support and love Adora no matter what, like she always wanted to do, and she's even choosing to support Adora as the hero. This is further demonstrated as true during the dream, as Catra (albeit jokingly) asks Adora to save her from a determined Glimmer.
All in all, the Catra we see in the dream is very unlike anything we’ve seen before, she's outwardly in love, feelings which Adora herself feels but struggles to understand. And that Catra ends up positioned so similarity is a cue that Catra is allowing her true love to be shown during the dream. It's exactly what Adora needs to feel coming from Catra, as years of being abused and new hardships have convinced Adora that sacrifice is the only thing that makes her worthy of love- Mara tells her “You're worth more than what you can give to other people, you deserve love, too”. Sadly, when you watch this scene you see that Adora has a hard time accepting Mara's words, she shys away from them instead.

Catra’s choosing to stay with Adora, and then show her most earnest love inside the dream, helps Adora to see how she deserves to be loved: as the person she is, and not only as a hero. Catra is the only person who loved Adora before she was She-ra, and her love for her has never been about her being a hero, like Adora was told she had to be by Shadow Weaver.
That was something done out of malicious intent, as Shadow Weaver did it to control Adora and to prepare her as her sacrifice. Young Catra was there when it happened to Adora, and always knew that it was done out of some dark intent (hence her frustration during the battle of Thaymore- “Duhhh did yah just figure that out??”). Catra constantly shows that she is wise to manipulations.
... And Adora is still stuck on this trauma: the love that Catra shows Adora helps her see past her own hurt.
::Ok. I say this next part with all the sincerity I can: expecting Catra to carry the entire burden of their romance all on her own is rather a lot to expect her to be able to do. And yet… she does it. She's the one who confesses her love, she's the one who kisses Adora, and in the dream, she shows Adora that she's in love with her. This is because Catra is a person who understands what she wants. She chooses to have faith that their love is real, and so she shows her heart to Adora. How does Catra trust enough in love, considering her past mistakes, and all trauma that she's been through?
People mostly think that Catra post season 5 would be a person who is still in a state of hurting from her past, that she constantly struggles with self hatred and doubts. But, ask yourself: is that how Catra is portrayed, or do we see a person who has faced her trauma so that she can live free of it?
That Catra would be able to do this so totally is what I think throws so many people about Catra. After all, most people who have trauma struggle with it continuously, so why wouldn't Catra struggle like this too… people have a hard time accepting that she is able to change her behavior so much for the better. But, don't let that stop you from seeing her as she is presented to be, there's powerful reasons why Catra is like she is, Noelle wouldn't take a shortcut in this. The reasons are there... it's just… complicated.
Probably too complicated to cover here, but I'll try to summarize a theme here: Catra is a survivor. That's what her attitude is, and her arc. She's survived ever since that day when Shadow Weaver threatened to kill her as only a small child, and she’s survived many other near deaths and hardships getting to this point. And because of that, she's found what she really wants to live for, and she's become too strong against others hurting her to let them control her. This strength includes against her own bias of self judgement over her past actions, because she understands how her actions were the product of manipulative abuses by others who wanted to control her. She knows trauma, in fact she's somewhat blessed in this ability (see this meta). What Catra does during the dream and her love confession is to reject ALL of the trauma, the falseness, the negativity, and hurt that's been put into both her AND Adora all of their lives. She's way too strong to let her own fears block her, and as she sees Adora struggling with her own fears, Catra gives her full heart to Adora because Catra knows how important it is to want to live and to love, and if she can just get Adora to understand that too, then she can save her.
... because Catra is brave, perhaps the bravest person in all of SPOP, she comes through to save Adora from Adora's own fears by showing her the power of love. Catra sees Adora for who she is better than anyone else can: she sees her humanity, and her struggles. And seeing is very important to our next cue::
Cue #3 ‘I’m YOUR idiot’

During Save the Cat, as Adora watches Catra teetering on the edge of the platform, she implores Catra to keep on fighting. She tells her: “you've never listened to anyone in your life, are you really going to start now?”
Catra responds by very fondly calling her an idiot.
And Adora freely accepts this, saying:
“I know.”
Then we get this frame, as shown above: Adora sees Catra, and how she's always tried to find safety from those that would hurt her by not letting them control her life.
Catra only ever listened to one person: she listened to Adora, and their promise... hence the ‘idiot’ part. And Adora is saying, as she accepts being called an idiot, that ‘I should have seen it sooner, and why my love was so important. You always felt like you had to fight to survive, and I was suppose to be different than those who hurt you. I was wrong not to understand sooner, and I shouldn't have hurt you like I did.'
And she proves it to Catra with her next words: “I'm going to take you home.”
Home. The thing Catra felt she had lost when Adora abandoned her at the Horde. Adora is saying: ‘I know this is what you want.’
‘So, live.’
::In the second frame, we see Catra show absolute acceptance of her love for Adora. It's just like Adora accepting being Catra’s idiot: Catra is telling Adora: 'Don't you see how I love you? You tease me, but this is not because I like you, it's because I'm crazy about you. I'm in love with you. And I want you to see this, my silly, beautiful love. Because I want you to know how I love you. I should have seen why my love was so important sooner, and I never should have left you."
‘I do freely admit that I am your idiot.’
‘And I know you. I know that this is what you really want. And that it hurts you that you were made the hero, and how everyone expects so much of you, but they never seem to see how much it hurts you.’
‘And I know that what you want is to be loved.’
‘I see you. I know you.’
‘So... live.”
It's exactly what Adora needs to see to accept love, and not let her trauma stop her. This is part of what helps Adora overcome Prime’s virus so she can absorb the Heart's power: she needed to see that she's loved. Much like Catra did, back on Prime’s ship.
Sidebar discussion 1: thoughts regarding this theory-
How exactly does the dream come to be, how does Catra experience its creation, all of these finer points we kinda hafta leave to the 'magic' that happens. We can't know exactly how it happened, but maybe we don't need to.
As to why didn't they didn't just tell us, *if* this theory is true, that is- probably because She-ra's ending is beautiful, it's hard to imagine it being any more beautiful than it already is. It's worth watching again and again: not having everything spelled out for us just makes us want to watch it more. -etheriadearie
Part 4: How everything is mirrored starting well before the dream, as well as after🪞♾🪞
All of Heart Part 2 is a mirror of Save the Cat, starting from the very beginning. And, if you look carefully you can see stylistic elements repeated throughout each (mirroring, compositional arrangements, use of green in both to represent Prime’s corruption, etc.) They are different enough that each is worthy of being called an artistic masterpiece of its own, but everything in them is related, and what happens as Catra saves Adora is very much the story of Save the Cat being retold.
Catra’s decision to return to help Adora inside the Heart chamber is synonymous with Adora’s decision to face Horde Prime on his flagship. Neither have a plan worth mentioning, both know they could fail, but they have to try, no matter what. They love each other too much not to try.

… and the other is totally dismayed when they show up to save them, knowing how perilous their situations are, as they had resigned themselves to their fates.
Oh, hey Shadow Weaver. Looks like you slipped in to be a stand in for Horde Prime ? Could this be because you were the real villain of SPOP all along ?
Even though the one is so unhappy that the other is risking themselves like they are, each girl continues to fight to free the other. They need the other to see how much they care.

Sidebar discussion 2: Catra’s strong connection to magic-
A subplot of She-ra is how Catra unlearns her negative perception of magic she has from it being used against her as a child by Shadow Weaver, and instead comes to see magic as something beautiful. Even though Catra professes a strong dislike of it “why does everything have to be so weird with you guys ?” (s5ep8), magic constantly seeks her out.
It starts during Promise, when Catra’s subconscious seemingly guides the memories they see, ending with her seeing her inner child's hurt. It continues in the Portal episodes when she's given up hope, and after trying to destroy herself, instead returns as Corrupted Catra, a magical being with knowledge and purpose. Then, in season 5, Melog chooses Catra, she nervously accepts their friendship and is surprised to finds them to be very good friend to her.
And so, during the dream, as Catra and Adora lie mere feet from the center of Etheria’s magic, it reaches out to help them- it is a living thing, and Catra welcomes its help, proving she has incredible harmony with magic, and by allowing herself to work with it during the dream, she completes her journey of unlearning her bias- because the truth of Etheria’s magic is love.

Sidebar discussion 3: Horde Prime’s virus
Another bridge between our girls is that when the monster attacks Catra, she's infected by Prime’s virus along with Adora. This is another route by which their minds can be connected (see Catra’s right hand, above) which begs the question: is everything that Adora sees in the dream just an elaborate cruelty of Horde Prime's?
I'm going with no, because of the visions which Adora has before the dream. Most of them happen well before the infection reaches Adora’s location, and their meanings don't really make sense as part of Prime’s deceit. He also says “So this is where you've run to hide" when he interrupts Adora's conversation with Mara.
It makes more sense that it is as Razz says: "You cannot control magic, magic simply is" and the magic is communicating with Adora and with Catra. It is rather, that Catra manages to use Prime's virus against him, as she's faced his control before. Her personal knowledge of his technology likely means Catra knows to help Adora overcome his control, and this along with her confession, helps Adora to break free of his control.
As Adora struggles with her final duty as She-ra to stop the heart, feeling alone in the face of it because she alone is She-ra, the only one who supposedly can do it, she's feeling crushed by the weight of a millennia old war and other's past cruelties forced onto her life. She believes it's too much for her to do alone, and that she's not a good enough hero.

Catra’s ultimate answer to Adora is: 'Don't be.’
Catra is telling Adora to stop being the hero just long enough to realize what she already has, because she's not alone. She needs help, but it's right there with her- she doesnt have to do it alone, no one should.
And so, by asking her to stay, Catra is telling Adora: 'Forget about being She-ra, and right now instead just focus on wanting to live... because if you don't live, then I can't help you. I know, this is hard. But if you can just accept that you want to be with me, then we can figure this out, together.'

And that's exactly what they do- they face the heart together.
Adora accepts love, and so Catra is able to help her absorb the Hearts power.... because love is the strongest thing in the entire universe... 💞
A few closing thoughts regarding this theory: We don't have a lot of time with the romance between Catra and Adora, as their kiss is the apex moment. But, by way of these cues perhaps us seeing them in the dream at their most romantic is real. When Adora wakes up, she doesn't even have to say anything about what she saw- Catra was there, helping her. One of the reasons why the kiss and Adora's confession of love back to Catra seems so pure is because she's understanding Catra perfectly. In fact they both are, because of the dream they shared together.
Considering how short She-ra is, for them to actually share this romantic moment together would be is key. And I feel it makes sense that they do, as such a beautiful moment deserves to live on in their (our) memories... and a way by which they could share this moment may very well exist, *if* this theory is correct.
Noelle and Friends may have cleverly given us this answer, and as beloved as the dream scene is, I'd like to think that they're together during it. Either way, She-ra's ending is beautiful.
