our beautiful black trans brother, 35 year old Righteous Torrence "Chevy" Hill, was murdered in Atlanta, GA this weekend.

he went by his nickname 'Chevy' he was originally from Macon, GA. he owned Evollusion, which is a black/ queer owned LGBTQ+ salon in Atlanta that provided and dedicated full service to specializing in hair, nails, barbering and makeup. growing up as young black queer boys/kids, the barbershop experience can sometimes be a tricky space to occupy, this was something that Chevy understood and wanted to cultivate a space of safety where you can also get the affirming look and style you want, and he did exactly that.

Chevy was a beloved son, brother, partner, and father.

one of his last posts that had a photo of himself said :

"if you truly know me, you know i am a humble, modest, private man, that i love my community, i have the love of God in me and will give the shirt off my back to any soul in need, also i never post pictures of myself, legaey give myself credit, that stops today, i am my legacy!"

(a close friend of Chevy asked if i could share more then one photo of Chevy, since he never posted photos of himself and in recent years he got the confidence to want to share more photos and now he won't get the chance to)

Chevy, hey king, hey brother, hey angel, thank you for everything, i lové you, we lové you, i'm so sorry. there are a lot of photographers in heaven who will be able to photograph you as the glorious black trans angel that you are.

there will be a homegoing service/memorial for our brother

there aren't many details about what happened but apparently he was shot by a family member last wednesday, the 28th (at least this article was the one linked in relation to his murder.)

judging by both the IG post and the comments section he was well-loved by many people and those people have many good memories with him and nothing but good things to say. this is a comment that was left by tirajmeansgolden which was hidden by IG for some reason:

I started testosterone in February 2020. I hit this man up at the end of 2019 after numerous Google searches for an LGBT-friendly barber near me (and by near me... he was a good 35-40 minutes from the rural area I was in outside of Atlanta: but when I found out he was a trans man and that his business was the first and only LGBT hair bar, I knew it would be worth the trip). I was a dysphoric mess in his DMs one Sunday. I hated how my hair was growing out. I never had a "masculine" hairstyle before but decided one day I would buzz it all off myself, then allowed it to grow out a bit... I sent him a video and despite him being closed on Sunday, he told me to come through. I got my hair braided and he gave me my first really masculine fade. Explained the different terms. Lined me up. Was asking me about my decision to transition and provided some helpful advice + guidance. I told him how I was a therapist and he was hype and said he talked with a group of trans men and he would love for me to stop by and also give some mental health tips. So whoever said he was humble - wow, what an understatement. Such a community man! Made me feel SO comfortable because barbershops were a source of major trauma and triggers for me. They were such an integral part of my early transition (I just celebrated 4 years later week). And he was such an integral part of the Atlanta Queer community with hosting events like Queer Con. How I found so many other great resources + queer businesses/artists. May you rest in peace, Chevy. You'll be missed. You've made such a different in the lives of countless people. You definitely were living your Purpose + left a legacy behind ...

This set really is something I'm very proud of. Each piece in this set is special to me, and I can't wait to see how you all style them in your Sims. I'm anxious to add them to as many of my Sims as possible. You will see them in future previews and photos. haha

Now let's talk about the items, starting with the Europa Long Dress and Dia Top, the most challenging pieces to create. Still, I'm so happy with how they turned out. The crochet texture and colors are simply stunning! My idea for them was to make it very casual for summer or hot days, as charming and detailed as possible.

The Metis T-Shirt is the most versatile piece! You can get it in plain colors, patterns, and prints; note that all prints are in Simlish or Sims-Themed. I love them all, not only because I have designed some of them, and they turned out exactly as I wanted! But seriously, this top is perfect for many occasions and outfits. I tried my best to make the swatches diverse to make it possible to use them in various Sims/outfits without repeating or only fitting better in more styles/occasions.

The Himalia Jeans and Ananke Shorts are both so cute!!! I especially love the heart buttons and metal pieces. These bad boys were tricky to draw as they're pixel art, and I'm the worst at it. But luckily, they look adorable at the end. I usually don't do pants/shorts with pockets, and maybe now I'll start to do more often as I really enjoyed these four pockets on both.

The Carpo Leggings are super easy to style! They're perfect for so many different occasions and outfits. I liked them especially in everyday and athletic outfits. Plus, there's a second version of them in the tights category for even more styling options.

The Kale Bracelets and Kalyke Bracelets are inspired by the beaded bracelets from the 2000s. They're simple yet beautiful and come in various color combinations. They can really make any outfit stand out!

The Carme Bracelet is the most elegant piece but also easy to use in casual outfits. Comes in ten metallic colors and a minimalist design, making it a versatile accessory to match any outfit.

The Sinope Bracelets are so practical and versatile! They're perfect for dressing up a casual or athletic outfit or even a pajama outfit. The scrunchie and hair ties combination is convenient and trendy at the same time.

The Amalthea Flats and Eirene Flats are both comfortable and easy to wear. They're perfect for adding a touch of style to any outfit.

Yet, creating this set took a lot of time and effort. I wanted everything to be perfect and had to redraw some components multiple times to achieve it. Plus, I'm used to releasing less content at once. It made me realize I'm not fast enough to do 12 items in one week, but with more practice may be possible in the future. Perhaps if I don't do too many swatches per item could be possible. Metis T-Shirt, for example, has 150 .dds files, and it took a lot of time to do that I could have used to make another shirt or cc. But it's a choice of mine, as I enjoy many options for each item for more variety. I like to always try adding as many as possible. Even not having as many as I wanted, I'm still thrilled with the result and worthed any second I have spent on it, not only in this shirt but the whole set.

I am thinking of doing a poll to see what you guys prefer, more items with fewer swatches or, as it's right now, as many swatches as possible and fewer items.

How to avoid being spoiled with ST members' identities

A not so short guide for tumblr newcomers

Hello new fans and (probably) tiktok refugees! This is a guide on how to enjoy sleep token online without being spoiled and also, a guide on how not to be a twat at the same time.

It is rather long, but please give it a chance. If not for you, then for other people who do not want to be spoiled.

I was thinking about making a reminder post about it for ages and recent post from @zelink-stan02 inspired me to make it sooner!

Tumblr is one of not many places online where the chances of you getting jumpscared with the guys' faces and names are minimal. You're not completely safe here, but it's still way better than on other platforms. And a lot of users try to keep it that way.

So, the basics for people who want to avoid spoilers online!

No twitter. That is a place of no honour. No exceptions. Nothing good ever comes from ST twitter. Also i am not calling it x.

Tiktok is also not safe. But most of you probably know that.

Pinterest is a super quick way to see all their faces.

Idk about facebook, but i bet there are morons commenting with their legal names there too. Like on twitter.

Googling is very tricky. Image results will most likely show you their faces among 20 first photos and if you do google them. Well. The main search used to show the names as suggestions up here before; I'm glad to see that for now this is fixed:

BUT LO AND BEHOLD. Pictures tab gives you a treat (derogatory) of a full vessel's name RIGHT THERE:

First suggestion. They're not even trying. So yeah, googling is very tricky.

I didn't scroll further to the right, but i bet ii's name is there too. (Their names are spoiled most often, cause they're writing the songs.)

7. If you look for the lyrics, google sometimes shows vessel and ii's legal names in songwriters' credits. I haven't seen it recently, but it doesn't mean you won't see [redacted] instead of "Vessel 1" and so on in the credits. Try not to scroll too far when checking the lyrics. I think Apple music shows their names in lyics all the time, someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

FORTUNATELY,

if you want pictures, band info, older rituals' shenanigans etc. etc., we have real mvp's here on tumblr!

@sleepanonymous has it all. Including an archive of band-related stuff and also older (mostly) vessel's stuff without any names or faces revealed. Just older songs, if you're curious! Sleep Anon has a neat google drive archive too. Please check the tags and other links in their pinned post!

We also have another pillar of our community here, @thesleeptokenarchive, who shares older rituals' details, song release dates and many other important information and dates.

My dear friend @a-s-levynn created this beautiful archive with band pictures for people who want to find that very specific picture without having their faces spoiled. Behold, the Sleep Token Reference Archive (STRA). Perfect for artists, but not only!

Beautiful people @kaddyssammlung, @vulcanette and @chaosandchaos are posting cool band photos they find regularly. Others too, but these three are the most active! We're also lucky to have @hecetas here, posting their original photos of the band (and not only!)

Also, The Choir is not anonymous. The band itself shared their actual name, Espera, and the ladies are not faceless. It was their decision, band supported it, so you don't need to worry to keep them anonymous.

Last but not least! How not to be a twat in the sleep token fandom space on tumblr:

Do not tag any band-related stuff with their names or older projects' names.

Do not post photos of their faces and tag it as the band or band members.

If you want to sceam about the love you have for that one older Vessel's project, the not solo one, you can do it here: @wings-of-clay

If you are a curious being and face/names reveals don't mean much to you, you can always scream about their past projects with your closest friends in the DMs. Or ask literally anyone here if they want to talk about those things without revealing those things' names publicly. Most of us have their faces and names spoiled anyway. But trust me, you don't need to put any names for us to understand what you mean.

Not exactly a tumblr thing, but! One of the band members streams on twitch. It is an unspoken rule to NOT mention anything band-related in the chat. No "worship", no band name, other members' names, nothing. He wants to keep those things separate. You get blocked there or he stops streaming for everyone if you're too pushy.

And remember folks, digging too much into their personal lives guarantees a court case against you!

I'm not joking. There is a person who is going to face charges for being way too parasocial and stalker-y about them. Do not be like that person. This applies to all public figures, not only sleep token. But some people take anonymity as a challenge to dig even deeper for all their info.

Last, but not least! I have the names spoiled and i don't mind talking about old projects and stuff. So I'm here for you if you want to google something, but are afraid of a face reveal, or if you just wanna talk about the older stuff (tho i admit, i don't know much about previous bands/projects of all of them). However, I will not be engaging in anything related to their private lives or families and I will block you on spot if you mention anything like this to me.

For the past few days I've been learning to make Minecraft skins since it's something I've wanted to learn.

Recently, I had asked my friend Maruu if I could use the reference sheets they had for their thesis so I could make some skins out of them, as a sort of learning tool. The designs were simple enough, yet unique enough too that it would still be a bit of a challenge to try and translate them and keep their original looks.

If you want a more in depth explanation/want to read my thought process and struggles with each one it'll just be under the cut!

Maruu

Maruu’s was the first I did and it was mostly because I wanted to try to experiment with hoodies and similar colours. It’s a lot of yellow tones which made a lot of the shading and lighting on it decently fun because of how careful I had to be with the colours.

Maruu also had a different hairstyle than anything I had done before so experimenting with multicoloured hair and the second layer on the head was very interesting.

Initially I wanted to make it so Maruu could take the hoodie off but I find it better this way mostly because of how baggy the hoodie is itself which didn’t look natural when it was all on the second layer

Lew

Lew was the second one and I had decent enough problems with them. A collared shirt was my first struggle, since I knew I wanted the jacket on the second layer, so figuring out that shading problem was nice.

Lew is also very monochromatic, with red being the only real colour, even with the white/black being shades of red. As such it was a lot of tricky maneuvering in order to try and figure out how to make each colour stand out while keeping it semi in line. Lew also has this particular aesthetic that I tried to nail which I think I did well

The hair was my biggest challenge, white is notoriously difficult for beginner artists to shade and even with me doing art for a while I have difficulty keeping the white colour while shading. Despite that, I think I did a decent enough job on it to give it some shading while keeping it white

Doody

Doody was up next and I was terrified LMAO, Doody has an outfit that is unique enough that I was worried going into it that I just wouldn’t be able to do it. Along with Bee, Doody took me the longest to do because of it

I knew I wanted the green part of Doody to be removable, which actually helped me out more than I was expecting it to. Having the entire green part be removable let me experiment more with the rest of the outfit which was a nice surprise

Along with Lew, I had a similar problem of “oh my damn god, there is so much dark colours here”, but they were all different shades of dark colours which just made it more difficult when I tried to shade. It was also, again, another unique outfit that gave me some trouble since I couldn’t do the pants the same way I usually do them.

The hair was the main challenge, I wanted to make sure it looked like Doody’s hair was the same poofy curly texture it is in the reference which I think I did well? I hope I did well. The dual tone was another scary thing since it was similar colours so I was worried my shading would just be bad, but I think it looks fine

Cherri

If I thought I had trouble with Lew’s red, I was not emotionally prepared for Cherri. Cherri was like a master class in trying to manipulate the colour red in too many different ways. Every single colour on Cherri is a shade of red, every single one.

It wasn’t just red too, it was dark red, which meant the combination of my anguish with dark colours and my anguish with monochromatic red just absolutely beat me over the head.

Thankfully though, the colours were just the main hard part. The outfit was actually pretty simple and gave me a nice break after struggling for like thirty minutes on Doody’s skin. Simple jacket and clothes which made it so much easier on my feeble soul

The bow was fun, this was the first time I had done a hair accessory, and I definitely think the experience with Maruu helped a lot.

This was the first time I had to actively check to make sure the skin was fine because I kept missing spots because there was so much red. Anyways a lot of that red is shaded with purple which I think is absolutely hilarious on my part. If you can’t make yourself laugh you’re not funny as I always say

Zera

Zera was a nice little reprieve, with a hoodie design similar to Maruu’s but not too baggy and pants similar to the ones I gave myself with the designs on them and the baggy pants I gave to my friend Middy, it was mostly a lot of touch ups.

The main issue was actually the face. I’ve been trying to match everyone’s eyes to their skins because I’m not just gonna make the skins and not let them use them, so I wanted to at least match the eyes to how they usually had them on their skins so it didn’t look too jarring. The thing was, I had never looked at Zera’s skin long enough to notice how the glasses were. It was a lot of switching between blockbench and name MC that’s for sure

Besides that, Zera was chill, insanely fun to do, desperately needed after back to back Doody and Cherri

Bee

I think I aged fifteen years trying to do this skin

Being honest, Bee was the main one I was worried about. The skirt was my main fear because, well, never did a skirt before. I think this skin was the one I just kept coming back to because something always seemed wrong about it. Even when I was working on Local’s I just kept coming back to change things because nothing ever looked right.

It wasn’t too difficult to do otherwise, the colours being more brown made it semi difficult as I had to manipulate lighting usage to make sure the browns didn’t muddle together, but really my main difficulty here was the skirt.

After that was done I was fine, I had to actually close the skin because I just kept coming back to it and I knew I’d never be satisfied with it if I couldn’t even focus on a completely different skin LMAO.

I am glad i did it though! Now I can say I have some skirt experience under my belt

Local

I’m so glad I ended with Local because oh my god I needed this after Bee.

Local was very simple, t-shirt and ripped jeans, very baby simple. Because of this I don’t really have any notes on him. Also I was doing this skin by like 11:30 after doing the other ones since like 5 so I desperately needed that break.

I think the thing that messed with me the most was both the hair and the shoes. Obviously sandals are very different from regular shoes and I would change them again but honestly I’m fine with how they turned out.

The hair I just had to adjust the colours a bit off of reference because it was MORE RED, but I think the way I did the shading there is fine enough for what it needs to be

I saw that Local sometimes just didn’t have the jacket so I made it able to be toggled which was fun, basically worked on two layers of skin

The first time I read Dungeon Meshi I was like “I love all these characters but Mithrun is hands down my favorite, it’s been a long time since I went this feral for a fictional character.” And like. That’s still true. I still absolutely adore Mithrun and he’s extremely important to me and his character arc is so beautiful and also I want to kiss him. BUT.

I’m not gonna lie, the way that like 85% of western fans either ignore Toshiro or straight up dislike him is turning me into a Shuro stan from the sheer injustice of it all.

He should get more love. He’s wonderful. It’s a little tricky to get a read on him initially but once you learn more about him he’s such an interesting character with so much going on under the surface. He seems like the stereotypical Stoic Eastern Warrior type, but it’s only because he’s using that stoicism to hide his shyness and uncertainty and fear of doing or saying the wrong thing. (And honestly, if you really thought Ryoko Kui of all people would write such a flat stereotype of a character you haven’t been paying attention). By the end of the series it’s shown that despite his issues Toshiro is a good and kind person beneath the impassive noble facade he’s been taught to put up his whole life.

And! He’s such a perfect character foil for Laios! Because they both struggle socially (personally I think Toshiro is also autistic, like Laios, but I’ll probably make a separate post abt that bc this one is already getting long), but in ways that contrast each other. This brings them into conflict when at their core they both crave the same thing: a deep connection with their peers that they’ve struggled to find their entire lives. They’re two sides of the same coin, at opposite ends of the spectrum of outward responses to a very similar internal experience. It’s really well done, as is, like, every character/relationship in DM.

Anyway if no one else is gonna ride or die for Nakamoto Toshiro then I will, god damn. I have to do everything myself around here.

𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

Notion is a good app to use for scripting. It allows you to add photos and customise them completely. Though it can be tricky to figure out at first. I suggest looking for templates and tutorials on tiktok. Pinterest does have some cuter templates in my opinion though.

𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐁𝐍𝐘𝐄

I use combyne to create outfits for my styles or even some event looks. It allows to to place a bunch of PNG's of clothes together to make the outfits and you can even post it to your profile or send them to your friends!

𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐅𝐘

Spotify is really handy for all sorts of things to do with sound. I use it for subliminals and guided meditations mostly. But if you have a singer dr or a band dr it can be handy to make a playlist full of songs that you release on your dr album or it could even be the vibe of what you want your music to sound like there.

𝐓𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄

I use Twinote to simulate Twitter. This app is not at all AI, so you have to make all the profiles and tweets yourself. Twinote also isn't an online app, so you don't make mutuals or anything of the sort. It can be really good for people with fame dr's.

𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐏

Motionleap is an app that allows you to move images and make them into gifs or videos. I use Motionleap to create moving power visuals. It's the app that most people use to make pictures of lakes or waterfalls flow.

𝐅𝐔𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐀

I use Fusta as a Instagram simulation. You can have as many "profiles" as you like so you could make one of all your dr selves, dr friends, and family. You can also simulate DM's.

𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒

Itextstories is an app to simulate texts. The app is not AI so you have to make every "contact" and every message.

𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐀 𝐀𝐏𝐏

The Lifa App is basically just another app to script on. It has different sections for all you scripts. Some of the sections to script you'll need to pay to use but it doesn't really matter if you pay for them or not. You can also connect your Notion scripts to it, if you wish to.

Most of these apps will be difficult to navigate. But once you figure them out, they're the best apps (in my opinion) to use.

I hesitate to spread this because if you don't know the False Hydra as a DM, you can learn it and run it, but if you don't know it as a player, it's a huge spoiler (assuming your DM will run it at some point), which is a shame.

But anyway, it's a horror mystery/puzzle/monster, tricky to pull off (shenanigans may be necessary, like messing with the players' IC / OOC knowledge), but if you make it work, it's brilliant. The premise is more or less system-agnostic and the stat block can be anything (plenty of homebrew False Hydras around), you just need a group that enjoys a good mindfuck.

in which: you saved jessie when she got a flat tire. she owes you one.

Y/I/N: So, a footballer huh? Nice one, Fleming ;)

Jessie shot up from the couch upon reading the notifications that were displayed on her phone screen. She blinked a couple times and turned her screen on and off, wanting to make sure that she wasn't just imagining things and it was really you who had just slid into her DM's.

She felt a little confused about how you could've found her, but she probably wasn't that hard to track down. The badge on the matching tracksuit she wore earlier today was more of a clue than anything else.

Jessie turned off her phone and put it down next to her, not sure what to reply to your texts. She'd found you endearing, yes. And she certainly owed you one after you saved her out of a tricky situation. If anything, it made her nervous.

A couple minutes later she picked her phone back up with a deep sigh, before opening the conversation between the two of you on Instagram. Before replying, she decided she might as well check out your feed. You now knew that she was a footballer and had probably scrolled through your profile, but Jessie still knew nothing about you – bar the fact you had a spare bike tire laying around in your garage.

She scrolled through your pictures for a couple moments, picking up glimpses here and there of you, you and a dog, you running, you seemingly with family. Jessie caught herself smiling at a picture of you on the beach for a little too long, before she pulled herself out of her thoughts and swiped her way back to your conversation.

_jessflem: A footballer indeed :)

Jessie made herself seem way more composed through her messages than she actually was feeling. A shaky exhale left her lips when she closed her phone again. She twiddled her fingers while she waited for your response, but she'd never admit that she was eager for you to reply. The interaction earlier that day had been nice, and Jessie had genuinely felt comfortable around you even though it was only fleeting and it was in no way anywhere near a romantic meeting. A stranger helping her out with a flat tire, nothing more and nothing less.

Jessie hadn't dated for a while. She hadn't in London, she hadn't in Portland. She wasn't one for a fling or a one-night stand, but she was also aware of how painfully busy her schedule could get. It was annoying for her, let alone for a potential partner. To spare anyone from the dread of having to work around a schedule from a professional footballer representing both club and country, she decided it would be best to put that next to her until it was a little less busy – until she was out of her prime years or had hung up her boots.

She did date in university, though. There was less travel and it was easier to connect with people, as it always was in a school. She had two relationships, in which she flourished, and both ended amicably. Ever since then, though, she can't remember how long it had been since she had anything that looked like a romantic connection with a girl. As much as she said that she didn't mind it, it would be foolish to say that she didn't care. Of course she would like to have a relationship, to have a girl to look after, to love and to adore – but she was realistic.

A soft buzz coming from her phone is what pulled her out of her thoughts, hands quickly scrambling for the device that had seemingly slipped away a little further down the couch when she put it down earlier.

Y/I/N: Let’s be honest, you didn’t make it too hard for me to find you, lol. Congrats on the win and the goal today, I think that only accentuates that you owe me one ;)

The Canadian caught herself smiling at your text, quickly typing up a response as she wanted to make use of the flurry of confidence that suddenly overcame her.

_jessflem: Thank you :) I do owe you one, big time. How about coffee tomorrow afternoon? There’s this new spot that opened a week ago and I’ve only heard good things about it.

Jessie quickly pressed send on the message before she could change her mind, but some doubts crept into her thoughts nonetheless. Before she could halt herself, she had sent you a second message. And a third.

_jessflem: Only if you’re free, though. You shouldn’t go out of your way for me, for this.

_jessflem: I didn’t even ask if you like coffee, actually. :’)

The flurry of confidence had left Jessie’s body as soon as it overcome her, feeling embarrassed at the way she just triple-texted you. You didn’t seem to mind though, another notification lighting up Jessie’s phone not long after she had sent her last message.

Y/I/N: You’re good, Jessie, I love coffee. I’d love to check it out. How does tomorrow 3pm sound?

Jessie let out a breath of relief that she didn’t know she was holding in in the first place. A small smile crept on her face thinking about the prospect of seeing you tomorrow.

_jessflem: Perfect. I’ll see you there :)

To say she was nervous, would be understating it. Jessie's hands felt clammy as she was waiting for you inside, swirling the liquid around in the drink she had already ordered – not wanting to take up a table and not order anything yet.

When the clock hit 3pm, you hadn't arrived yet. Jessie's leg was bouncing up and down, a testament to how nervous she felt meeting you. Obviously, this wouldn't be the first time you two met up, but this time it wasn't accidental. This was planned. Should she call it a date? Did she want to do that?

It was only a couple minutes past 3 when you walked in, but a flood of relief overcame Jessie when she noticed you. She gave you a quick wave from the booth where she sat.

Jessie got up when you approached her, but stalled when she realized she didn't know what to do. A hug? A kiss on the cheek? Was any of that even appropriate? The midfielder quickly got pulled out of her thoughts when she felt the soft press of a pair of lips against her cheek, not being able to hide the blush that was creeping onto her face. "Hey, Jess," she gave you a shy smile, quickly sitting back down as you settled into your seat too.

"Hey, you. How are you feeling?", she opened the conversation with an easy question. "I'm good, sorry for being late though. I got held up at work," you said, worried that Jessie would think you weren't gonna show up. She glanced down at her watch – a subtle action you fund irresistibly attractive – trying to seem surprised. "Oh I didn't even notice, honestly. You're good, you're here now," she said, accompanied with a warm smile.

Truth be told, she did notice it. Every second that went by after 3pm where you hadn't entered the coffee shop yet, had Jessie teetering more and more on edge.

After some initial hesitation, conversation flowed easily between the two of you. You refrained from asking her too much about football, catching on quickly that she liked the fact you didn't know who she was. You discussed everything else, though. What you do for work, where you both came from, how you found yourselves in Portland. Before long, the café was running empty and the two of you were the only ones still taking up a spot. Some servers had began cleaning and were putting chairs on tables, so you and Jessie decided it should be best to get going too.

Jessie got her credit card out and paid the bill, countering any protest that you sent her way. "I owed you one, remember?"

You exited the café, both seemingly wanting your time together to linger – neither of you was making any moves to part ways. "Hey, do you want to come up to mine and maybe watch a film?", Jessie checked the time on her phone before continuing, "it's not too late yet."

She could see the contemplation on your face and spoke up again, before she could stop herself. "Only if you're free, of course. And if you don't have to wake up too early in the morning. I wouldn't want you to be tired at work, if you even have to-," you interrupted Jessie by placing a hand on her arm. "I'd love to, Jess," you shot her a bright smile which she reciprocated quickly, before turning into herself slightly when she couldn't hide the crimson red shade that was displayed on her cheeks.

The two of you walked the short distance back from the coffee shop to Jessie's apartment, talking about everything and nothing while at it. The roads were busy, the evening rush in full effect whilst you expertly navigated the traffic, trying to get inside as soon as possible – the grey clouds that were hanging over Portland weren't particularly promising.

Jessie gave you a small tour of her place, deliberately not saying too much about the room where she kept all her medals and other achievements in, but you wanted to know. "So you're big time, huh? I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge on football", you chuckled once the two of you sat down on the couch in her living room.

Jessie gave you a tight-lipped smile. "I guess, you could say so, yeah", she said, playing with the rings on her hands. "It's cool, really. It's not an environment I'm familiar with at all but you seem to love it."

"I do. I really do, it gives me purpose. I love playing here in Portland and for my country, it makes me and all the people I love proud," you decided not to mention the fact she played for her country, not wanting to pry any further when you could tell talking about this wasn't her strong suit. "I bet. It's impressive, but I think it isn't all good either, like it seems from the outside."

Jessie and you talked about her career for the first time that day, the Canadian finally opening up a bit, about the hardships that came with being a full-time, professional footballer. Prospect of a film long forgotten, you and Jessie talked late into the night. The both of you were stifling yawns but a quick look at the time on your phone told you you really should be going. You had to be at work at 9 the next morning, and if you were quick you should be able to get about 6 hours of sleep at home.

"Jess, as lovely as this has been, I'm afraid I'll have to get going," you started, a hint of disappointment in your voice that you couldn't hide. She nodded. "Yeah, totally. It's late," she said, locking eyes with you. A silence fell over the two of you, nearing to be awkward, before Jessie chuckled and got up. "I'll walk you out," she said.

"Actually, I'll drive you. I know it's only a short while but it's late and it's dark, I'll feel better if I drop you off," you wanted to argue, but Jessie held a determined look in her gaze, so you didn't even try. You shrugged, "yeah that would be nice, Jess, thank you."

She navigated the now empty streets based off your instructions, quickly pulling up into your driveway and killing the engine. "I had lots of fun today, thank you," Jessie started, as you unbuckled your seatbelt and turned your body towards her. "Me too, thanks for the coffee. And for inviting me over. Next one is on me."

"Next one, huh," Jessie teased, a slight hint of a smirk creeping up her lips. "Yeah, I'd love to see you again, if that's okay," you said, a hint if insecurity creeping into your voice. The Canadian nodded eagerly, looking at you with a twinkle in her eye. Another silence fell upon you, but it wasn't awkward this time. A strong tension hung in the air, which wasn't there before. You looked into Jessie's eyes and couldn't help but start to lean forward, slowly inching closer towards her over the center console.

Jessie reciprocated, moving towards you and closing the rest of the distance between your bodies. Your lips moulded together into a soft kiss, and Jessie let out a strong exhale through her nose when she felt your hand grabbing hers, not breaking the kiss. After a couple moments, you pulled away for air, slowly retreating your face away from her and looking her in the eyes, a shy grin forming across your lips.

"I would love to see you again," Jessie confirmed, accentuating her statement with another sweet kiss against your lips. It lingered for a while, until you reluctantly pulled away. "I've really got to get going now. Thank you, Jess. I'll text you," you said, taking her hand in yours and pulling it up to your lips, pressing a soft kiss against the back of it. "Thank you for the ride, too. You're too good to me."

"It's not a bother, really. I'm glad you got home safe. Goodnight, y/n," she said. You opened the door and stepped out of her car, before turning around and blowing her another kiss. "Night, Jess."
