warning for extremely transphobic language!
on the surprisingly common idea that terfs/“gender critical” folks support trans men and don’t actually hate us, they just see us as misguided women and something to pity, and still include us in their feminism:
“It takes a complete lack of empathy to say you’re including trans men in the liberation of “females”, when you call them things like, “mutilated”, and “disgusting”. “Surgical mutants,” “a young lesbian … with a rancid cavity attached to a likely twisted and depraved man’s body”. Fuck you. Like…fuck you. […] It becomes very clear that the gender critical movement holds extreme animosity and disgust for trans men, despite their claims that they support them for being adult human females.”
— “Gender Critical: Recruitment” by Caelan Conrad

how does clearsky respond to thunder being trans? I could see him both reacting badly and not really caring
Same, I can see him either constantly forgetting and implying he's a girl, or being like, "Oh that's what he's going by these days? good, we don't need more women around here"
So either "transphobic dad who maliciously forgets your pronouns" or "trans inclusive radical misogyny." Considering he took Gray Wing's Gib gender well though, probably that second one.
Ultimately I just decided I didn't want to get into it when I was already talking about child abuse, emotional manipulation, and ableism in the summary. The man's got a whole menagerie of problems lmao, he's the worst
Btw I'm not sure yet if Old Tribemew had gendered pronouns, but I DO know that Parkmew didn't. Parkmew contributes the relationship-based pronouns that are iconic to Clanmew.
#The callout post for Clear Sky is the same length as Do You Love the Color of the Sky lmao#Do You Love the Callout of the Clear Sky#Tw homophobia#tw transphobia#transphobic language#better bones au#BB!DOTC

Transfemme dean your beloved, you say?
https://archiveofourown.org/works/55091809
- schizosamwinchester
"Dean had found some shred of himself in his father’s bed, but that Dean had died right along with him."
holy FUCK this is incredible. you've done it, you've captured The Thing.
i love the way you captured dean's internal conflict, especially about how other queer people see right through him (her?). i feel like being seen is one of dean's biggest fears, in general, but especially so for any sort of perception that shows him as weak or "less-than" in a way he doesn't intend.
that fear, to me, is a huge part of why he plays up the whole machismo act, just like you've written about here. he plays up the machismo-ness, but also his overall slob/player demeanor, which is just such a huge flag for "hate me about THIS, not that other thing that you definitely don't know about."
but i really, really love that he just can't fucking hide it. even sam sees it, "well, you are kind of butch. they probably think you're overcompensating." he is a queer, and just his existence, the composition of his skin, screams it out to every person he meets and i lovvve thattt
and then, in the end, having that identity be SO entwined with his dad and how he could be something like a woman but only in his father's bed, that when john dies, all dean has left is being john's eldest son, being sammy's older brother? so, so good!!
#dean using every slur in the book for him/herself is SOOOO precious to me#thanks for sending me this!!#(#spn#transfem dean winchester#transchesters#dean winchester#slurs#transphobic language#internalized queerphobia#deanjohn#)

so i was watching a youtube video on my old phone while my phone charged and i forgot that it was logged into my old google account bc both have access to the channel that i watch from
and then i basically found out in the worst way
normally i don’t see any ads bc i do everything i can to not see them (for so many reasons including privacy and the principle of it but probably mostly that i find them distracting and overstimulating and pda amplifies all of those feelings to the point where ads straight up make me mad)
but on this old phone on this old account, an ad played
according to the “why did you show me this ad” thing, it was picked based on my gender. As in the gender I listed when i created my old google account, 11 years ago
and so i click on this video and the first thing that opens up, way louder than the video, is a man in a gruff voice shouting, “You’re not a kid, you’re a man!”
and all of it was so unexpected bc i was clicking on a video by a fairly soft-spoken woman who is usually very trans-friendly and disability-friendly, and all of the sudden I am having a horrible transphobic thing shouted in my face by just about the most opposite person I was expecting in the most opposite tone, and for a second I have no idea what’s even happening and i’m just completely disoriented suddenly.
so i changed the gender on my old account (and switched accounts on that phone).
but like the “you’re a man!” is bad enough, but the “you’re not a kid” makes it so much worse for me in particular (although i’m sure many trans women and many autistic people have the same experience), because that is just one of those big points of contention where anything fun or playful or “lazy” or just not exactly what my dad expected me to be was always me acting like a kid and needing to grow up, and he especially used that (and still does) against my sister, the scapegoat of the family.
And it’s being used by my whole family to invalidate her being trans, and it’s the excuse to portray my attempts at expressing femininity as artificial both from my family and in the negative voices in my own head judging myself.
And I think the worst part about it that makes me mad that it even exists is that it’s not like it’s a silly coincidence that the words happened to be the worst thing to say to me. The ad is literally trying to feed into that same toxic masculinity to put people down to sell them clothes. It’s literally trying to convince men who have clothes that aren’t like theirs to feel like they’re not man enough unless they purchase the product, and shamelessly feeding into toxic masculinity, and all the forms of misogyny it promotes, for profit.

the funny thing is transphobes insist they can clock trans people.
i am afab and not on t, nor do i identify as a man or even as transmasc. i grow facial hair naturally due to a hormonal imbalance/possibly pcos. at work, i wear a nametag with my legal (feminine) name on it. i do present masculinely, but that's bc i'm butch and nonbinary.
last month, a transphobic doordasher tried to get me fired because he assumed i was transfemme. he told my coworker that "(he) can't believe people like him are allowed to work here. men who think they're women" and then called in a false report, saying i assaulted him.
now, i'm not gonna lie. i get misgendered and incorrectly clocked all the time. people regularly think i'm a man (call me sir, ask if i'm a trans woman, insist i shouldn't be allowed in the women's restroom). most of the time i laugh this off. i'm not insulted by people being unsure of my gender, or thinking i'm a trans woman. due to being nonbinary, it can even help make me feel gender euphoria. i love the transfemme people in my life and respect and support trans women in general.
but someone trying to get me fired? because you mistakenly confuse me for a trans woman? i'm not going to lie, that was devastating. both personally and as someone who tries to be an ally for transfemme people.
so no. transphobes can't clock trans people for shit.

UK transphobes are so fucking far gone they put the concept of "gender" in quotes, a word that existed in that sense since the FIFTEENTH (15TH) FUCKING CENTURY
guys why the fuck aren't we talking about what's happening in the uk right now
nobody outside the uk is talking about this. why is nobody talking about it

Obsessed with “I’ll beat them up for you” as a love language in general, but especially when the person saying this has absolutely zero ability to actually beat anyone up
#post inspired by my friend who offered to beat up a transphobe for me#like man i appreciate it but you physically cannot beat that guy up#i arm wrestled him once and kicked his ass without even trying. if one of us is beating up a transphobe it’s not him#i really do appreciate it though <2 fantastic love language

one of the most disgusting things i keep seeing from transphobes, specifically folks who are super against gender affirming surgeries, is them using actual people’s photos expressing joy in the aftermath of a helpful and consensual surgery and then use that to talk about “mutilation” and “predation.” like what the fuck, that is a person’s body you’re talking about, and more than that you’ve used a specific person as an example, taken their joy and twisted it into something disgusting. if you do this i genuinely hope spiders crawl up your ass

Now that Matpat is retiring I can happily say that I hated him. He held transphobic views, consistantly misgendered cannonically trans characters, donated to anti-autistic charities, and villanized/stygmatized mental illnesses.
You were all too busy sucking his dick to realize it, but he doubled down on the things he said, never apologized for half of the abhorent things he said, and his fans consistantly harrassed people who disagreed with his theories or called him out.
Anyway, MATPAT RETIRING! SO LONG BOZO!
MOST OF THIS SHIT ISNT EVEN OUT OF CONTEXT IN THESE VIDEOS; like op says in the description, probably because people were harrassing them. AND IN CONTEXT ITS STILL BAD.
BUT ITS OK, RIGHT? ITS OK IF UTS JUST A THEORY! RIGHT GUYS!?!?! ITS JUST A GAME THEORY!!!!

Reading up on this history of Intersex Olympians on Wikipedia is a sure fire way to want to burn everything down forever.
They only ever check the genetic sex markers (originally testosterone and androgens, later Karyotypeing) for women's events, it was MANITORY between 1968 and 1998 for all women competing (the only exception being PRINCESS ANNE, who does EQUESTRIAN).
Men do not get tested on sex markers, only if they are suspected of doping.
Of the 18 total intersex Olympians listed on the Wikipedia, 10 of those are women from African countries. All three of the European competitors on the list competed before the 70's.
The current disqualifying characteristics in women's events are only relevant for Middle distance running, hammer throw and a few other events and are:
have an XY karyotype and
have ≥5 nmol/L testosterone and
do not have androgen insensitivity
Please PLEASE call this what it is, intersexism, sexism and racism. It's been going on at the Olympics for decades.
#intersexism#the olympics#there is some interesting stuff on that page but it makes me so mad#like I have hyperandrogenism#also this is very transphobic with the language being used too but it is intersexism on its face we really need to call it for what it is

"women with beards"
in a german translation of "mandeville's travels", ca. 1471-1474
source: Stuttgart, Landesbibl., Cod. poet. et phil. 2º 4, fol. 40r
#this is how the text (mandeville) labels them#as women with several typically “male” characteristics#idk i always struggle with how to describe such images bc i don't want to use transphobic or intersexist language/assumptions#mandeville's travels#15th century#gender#queer#illuminated manuscript

the reason it's a bad thing to only talk about a certain group of people when it benefits your argument is that it shows that you don't actually care about us as people. you can bring us up in an argument if the argument calls for it. whatever. but using an entire community as a gotcha and then attacking that same community when they ask for rights and recognition is complete bullshit. you don't get to use us as an argument if you clearly only see us as a thought experiment and nothing more
#just blocked someone because they told me to stop acting butthurt about people using intersex people as a gotcha#also. a gotcha is very different from a well-structured argument#like. there's a difference between 'there are many examples where biological sex is not two distinct classes'#and have that as a part of your argument#compared to#TERF: [says something transphobic]#trans person: well you're wrong because INTERSEX people exist [proceeds to fetishise the intersex experience]#anyway this is not just a problem for intersex people#I've also seen it happen for my Jewish friends and my fellow disabled people and all that#esp. intellectually disabled people being used as an argument against changing certain language even though it's clear the person arguing#has never spoken to an intellectually disabled person in their life#anyway

Now for something completely different: meaningless petty grievances I'm posting late at night on tumblr to avoid saying to people irl.
Ok. Look. I know why people do it. It's to try to be distinct from those weird misogynists and transphobes who insist on calling women "females."
But I swear to god, if hear one more person using "woman/women" as an adjective, I'm going to lose my mind.
You can just use the proper word in each place! You're not "winning" or proving a point by using the wrong word - hell, I'd argue it makes the existence of women in a space sound less natural because the framing sounds so goddam unnatural (do you call male authors "men authors"? No? Then think about how weird and attention-grabbing (in a bad way) it is to say "women authors"). "Female" is not an insult!
#grump grump grump#i swear I respect the 'wymyn' people more#(except for the ones that are name making it clear they are transphobic)#yes it's done but at least they're trying to change language on purpose#instead of just failing to understand grammar
