Everyday I see more posts on twit being screenshotted and shared of ppl saying there cant be he/him lesbians and transmen cant be lesbians and im so exauhsted. I love transmasc lesbians. I love the relationship between transmasc butch lesbians and non-transmasc butch lesbians (I’m the latter). I love the ways we can see ourselves in each other and also recognize key differences in how we exist. I love our gender non-conformity. I love our relationships (or lack thereof) with womanhood. I love our relationships with lesbianism.

i did this when i was a kid. i am now a butch lesbian overcoming my own internalized misogyny and comphet by only hanging out with women and lesbians. and i imagine that i am shipping butch4butch lesbians instead of cis men 🤍

i dont think fandom people who only think about male characters and only create content for male characters are like horrible misogynists but i do think they often have some shit they need to unpack. like how can you , for example, play life is strange and the only thing you come away with from that is you want nathan and warren to fuck nasty. how can you watch birds of prey, and the only thing you come away with from that is you want roman and victor to fuck nasty......... like idk! idk! i just find it strange especially when people will engage with media Specifically about women and then put no effort in to empathize or care about them, sometimes even going far enough to say they HATE the female characters and that theyre bitches... Sometimes that person's pronouns will include they/them and in that specific case you are allowed to keep using those pronouns for that person. In any case where you learn a persons pronouns and that person doesn't use they/them, you should no longer use those pronouns for that person. If you continue to use they/them pronouns knowing that person doesn't use them, you are now misgendering that person. Kindly stop doing that please. Thank you, I love you.

im sorry rad fems sold you the lie that butches are only Non Threatening (TM) cis women with short hair who wear T-shirts and jeans with a carabiner, but the reality of the situation is a lot of butches are trans, genderqueer, physically imposing, big, male impersonators, hairy (especially including facial hair), sweaty, muscular, "ugly" and/or fat. some butches are into extreme body modification. some went bald. some are body builders. some are transfem butches who don't wanna overperform womanhood, take estrogen, or medically transition. some butches start testosterone strictly to feel more like a butch. some butches pass as cis men, and some need to do so in order to feel like their butch selves. soft butches are great, but that's not the "One Right Way" to be butch. the butches i'm attracted to would make a rad fem scream and cry and piss themselves on the floor.

Gender and sexuality is weird. Telling ftm lesbians to "identify as nonbinary" is weird. Some people just aren't nonbinary, they're ftm and lesbians. Who are you to tell someone how they experience their gender and sexuality?

Lots of people make the argument that "identifying as contradictory labels invalidates everyone." Other people's identities are not invalidating your own. Your validation doesn't depend on how other people who don't know you exist. There is no wrong way to identify or express your gender.

I really wish butchhood wasn't conflated with being a protector so much, honestly.

I'm a very vulnerable butch. I'm chronically ill, invisibly physically disabled, and have a lot of mental health issues. My masculinity doesn't inherently make me more strong or powerful.

But there's a huge amount of butch culture built on butches being protective of femmes, or just being strong and working in very physically laborious jobs. It feels disheartening to be locked out of a major part of my culture, just because I'm disabled.

So here's to all the disabled butches who want, or are expected to, be strong because toxic masculinity has taught us the mascs are the protectors, but we can't be.

We're the ones who need people to slow down for us. We're the ones who need to sit down and catch our breath after walking a bit. We're the ones who need help. And that doesn't make us any less butch.
