Ch 195: Doll & Snake’s Reunion
This chapter is very short (only 9 pages), but had a lot of info, and yet it leaves the door open for questions and interpretations. For example, it’s not clear yet if Doll was ever killed and therefore is a bizarre doll or not.
Tumblr media
The chapter opens with Doll explaining about the night they went to Kelvin’s manor and found it already ablaze, and there was nothing they could do. They were completely helpless. And we get a new shot of Sebastian and Ciel that’s incredibly ominous—yet it’s not made clear that he kills Doll. Though the way Doll says “there was nothing I could do” does seem to suggest that their life ended that night.
Doll explains that they went back to the circus, but didn’t find anyone of the main group, including Snake—it was like he just disappeared. So they wandered around from London to Bath, and eventually ended up at the FOL Orphanage. Doll doesn’t explain how they ended up there, just that they work as a scullery maid and are good with kids since they grew up in an orphanage too.
It isn’t clear if Doll is intentionally withholding information from Snake (and Finny), or if they’re a BD and maybe don’t know all the details.
Doll chews Snake out a bit for disappearing—and says they couldn’t write him since they used to be illiterate, which implies they can now read and write. So were they taught, or can Ut transfer skills by copying and pasting from other people’s cinematic records?
Snake starts to explain how they left the circus and disappeared, but before he can say more, Wadsworth forcefully stops him.
Tumblr media
He reminds Snake that Smile and his friends are wanted men!
Snake then has a debate with three of his snakes: Wilde, who thinks they should trust the “old man” (Wadsworth’s intuition); Keats, who agrees; and Emily, who likes and trusts Doll.
Emily calls Doll a “trustworthy child” while Keats and Wilde are suspicious that Doll might rat them out to the police.
Tumblr media
This part was really interesting bc it’s the first time we really see Snake actively conversing with his snakes. It’s not entirely clear if they’re making noise that he’s interpreting, if they have some kind of telepathic communication, or if he intuits what they’re saying. (Bc earlier, with Wadsworth, Snake admits he thinks he gets what the snake is saying.)
But Snake feels conflicted here, as to whether he should trust the old friend who took care of him when he first joined the circus, or keep the confidence of his new Phantomhive family.
What’s interesting here (and I’ll go into this more in another post about his snakes) is that the only snakes who talk to Doll are Emily and Oscar. The rest speak only to Snake (Keats, Wadsworth, Wilde, etc.) What’s more, Finny doesn’t say a word the entire chapter, either.
Tumblr media
Regardless, Doll is like “Oi, Snake, I’m over here, talk to me” and he’s so caught off guard that he tries to speak for himself (one of, if not the only time he does this?). Flustered, he isn’t even sure what pronoun to use for himself, first saying “オレ” (ore) for “I” and then “僕” (boku). [For more on first-person pronouns in Japanese, see my pronoun posts for Doll, Bard, and Ciel]
Their little reunion is interrupted by a bizarre commotion. The orphanage staff burst into the kitchen in a tizzy because the menu for afternoon tea for the Pomeranian Class (the “Ciel” class) has been changed from lemon cake to lemon tart.
Snake is bewildered. Since they’re both lemon, does it really matter?? And you can practically hear the record screech.
Tumblr media
Doll turns almost hostile as they remind Snake they may be friends but “this” is all the staff of FOL Orphanage have. Bewildering.
Could it be that there’s something in the food and that’s why it matters? Or is it simply that their purpose is to serve the orphans and Snake’s comment comes off as dismissive? It’s odd. Definitely makes you curious as to what the hell is really going on in this place.

Good Omens' Noah's ark scene in English and Japanese:
English!Crowley: But they’re drowning everybody else? — Not the kids. You can't kill kids. …well, that's more the kind of thing you'd expect my lot to do. Japanese!Crowley: But they’re drowning everybody else? Including children? They’re also killing the children!? I wouldn't think even demons would go that far!
Losing the "kids" pun was unsurprising, but the tweak from saying "this feels like my side's work" to "this goes beyond demonic" stood out in terms of characterization. What does that imply regarding Crowley's feelings towards "his" side?

The World's Oldest Love Poem
The world's oldest love poem is The Love Song for Shu-Sin (c. 2000 BCE) composed in ancient Mesopotamia for use in part of the sacred rites of fertility. Prior to its discovery in the 19th century, and its translation in the 20th, the biblical Song of Songs was thought to be the oldest love poem extant.
In the 19th century, archaeologists descended on the region of Mesopotamia seeking physical evidence which would corroborate the biblical narratives of the Old Testament. While this may not have been initially their driving purpose, their need for funding (based on public interest to justify such funding) soon made it so.
Instead of finding the evidence they hoped for, they discovered cuneiform tablets which established that many of the biblical narratives were derived from Mesopotamian sources. This discovery had a profound impact not only on biblical scholarship at the time but the history of the world as it was then understood.
Excavation & Discovery
When the archaeologist Austen Henry Layard began excavations at Kalhu in 1845, assisted by Hormuzd Rassam, he was under so much pressure to find biblical sites that he jumped to the conclusion the city he had uncovered was Nineveh. His published account of the excavations, in 1849, was titled Nineveh and its Remains and, owing to Nineveh's fame from the Bible, the book became a best seller. The success of the book sparked further interest in Mesopotamian history as a means of corroborating biblical narratives and so further expeditions were sent to the region in search of other cities mentioned in the Bible.
Prior to this time, the Bible was considered the oldest book in the world and The Song of Songs from the Bible (also known as The Song of Solomon) the oldest love poem. Interestingly, the expeditions sent to historically corroborate the stories from the Bible did precisely the opposite. When Layard excavated the actual site of Nineveh in 1846-1847, he discovered the library of the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal (r. 668-627 BCE) and the cuneiform texts, which were then translated by the legendary George Smith, made it clear that the story of the Fall of Man and The Great Flood and Noah's Ark were not original compositions of the authors of the Book of Genesis but were pre-existing Mesopotamian tales which were re-worked by later Hebrew scribes. The Song of Songs, dated to the 6th-3rd centuries BCE, could no longer be considered the oldest love poem once The Love Song for Shu-Sin (written c.2000 BCE) was discovered.

Hi, can we have an scenario with Fem!Reader and True Noah Tyki form? Like the reader (also his lover) thought that he will hurt or kill her in this form, only to be forced to cuddle with him on floor, while purring in deep and loud voice 🤭
I am so, so sorry about how long it took me to get into writing ಥ‿ಥ Honestly, I was kind of sick when the requests started coming in, I think, I'm not sure of the exact dates but it must been pretty much close to it.
Moral of the story, don't have COVID and dengue altogether, you will suffer.
(Also I wanted to thank those who sent me nice words, I've been wanting to answer since I received them but I was too weak and have been thinking about it since then but just never answer.)
Now, in more optimistic news, I write something! I translated it with the help of ChatGPT, (I write in a pretty bad Span-English most of the time) it was far more quickly than it usually takes me to translate things, and with my very limited English knowledge, I would say is fine, if you notice something's off let me know so I'll never use it again  (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Tumblr media
Two days passed since the Ark incident. Two days in which Tyki hadn’t awakened. You stayed by his side the entire time, sitting in a chair next to his bed. You hardly slept; he didn't allow you to. Every now and then, you would hear him, and it broke your heart to see him writhing in pain in bed, his moans and groans keeping you alert.
In these two days, you hadn't been able to get rid of the oppression in your chest that’s been overwhelming you since Adam returned to the new Ark with Tyki slung over his shoulder. Your mouth had gone dry, and your stomach churned. You rushed to them, and the Earl told you what had happened in a more optimistic tone than you would have liked to hear at that moment. He left Tyki in your care, fully trusting that you could handle it alone, and then he left, leaving you with the unconscious Noah. Since then, you've stayed by his side, wiping the sweat from his face and managing to feed and give him water.
Road visited you, but you noticed something was off about her. Her movements seemed oddly calculated, her eyes lacked their usual sparkle, her voice was weak, and you were sure her hair color dulled occasionally. You deduced that she hadn't come out of the battle unscathed and was tired, whether much or little. You sent her to recover, and somewhat reluctantly, she obeyed, not without warning you to be careful, the man you were caring for so lovingly might not be your partner. After reminding you to call her or Sheryl in case of an emergency, she left.
A growl brought you back to reality. Tyki was trembling, curled up. You dampened a clean cloth in fresh water and tried to uncover his face, which he kept hidden under the blankets.
"Tyki?" you asked, leaning over him on the bed. "Love?"
The Noah's growls grew louder, and in a movement you didn't fully understand, you fell to the floor along with the chair you had been anchored to for the past two days. The blankets moved as if there were a fight underneath, and you knew what it was.
The tentacles were not new to you; you had seen them before, hours after the Earl returned with Tyki, to be exact. You had already learned not to get too close in those moments. The small cut on your right palm started to bother you—a mark that would stay as a reminder of the first incident, a visible and tangible sign of the lesson learned.
Without standing up, you slowly crawled away from the bed. You sat in the corner near the door in case you needed to leave, and with your eyes fixed on the movement of the sheets, you waited. The growls intensified, the sheets tore, and the tentacles waved, twisted, and abruptly stopped. You could see how the Noah's back slowly straightened. His hair, now long, cascaded from his shoulders, and you couldn't help but shiver. The cold silence of the room chilled your bones. Your trembling fingers tried to grip the wooden floor, scratching it. In a blink, the Noah's figure towering above you.
And you could see his golden eyes. Those eyes you had seen thousands of times before, the same eyes that not long ago looked at you with the love and tenderness of the most devoted lover, now stared at you coldly and expressionlessly. This wasn’t Tyki.
You automatically understood the situation. You scanned the room frantically with your gaze, looking for Lero, but he wasn't there. Your breath caught, your heart stopped, and you bit your lips to stifle the small sob that fear had left in your throat.
You slipped a hand under the skirt of your dress; you had some talismans hidden in your stockings for emergencies, thinking, you could stop Joyd long enough to find Lero and improvise from there.
With a rough shove, the Noah pulled you from the corner and dragged you to the carpet in the center of the room while you took out the talismans and hid them in your sleeve. Before you could even remember the spell to use them, Joyd straddled you, a predatory smile on his lips and a sadistic gleam in his eyes. He leaned closer, buried his face in the crook of your neck, and inhaled deeply. Suddenly, the atmosphere changed. You could see his posture relax, starting with the muscles in his shoulders followed by his back. He rested his forehead on your shoulder and slid his arms around your waist, hugging you tightly and nuzzling into your chest.
You waited for him to do something else, but that something never came.
"Tyki?" you asked again. Your shoulders tensed involuntarily when you heard him growl. "Joyd!" you corrected yourself immediately. "Joyd, Joyd," you repeated. "I'm sorry."
He nuzzled against you a bit more, and you couldn't help but giggle. Moved by tenderness, you hugged him back, and you could swear he started to purr.
It wasn't Tyki who controlled the body, but it was his body, and you remembered this when moved by instinct, you planted a soft kiss on his forehead before cuddling him to your chest. His body was so familiar that touching it felt easy, natural, right.
You stayed embraced for a while, the tik-tok of the clock and the loud growls of Joyd lured you to rest until he lifted his face slightly, just enough for your eyes to meet. And there it was. They were still the same golden eyes but now shone with an affection you knew by heart.
"Name?" Tyki asked in a husky voice. His eyes were half-closed, like someone who had just woken up.
"Yes?" you whispered, holding his gaze, your voice a fragile and warm murmur. A sound that felt comforting in the cold silence of the dark room.
He buried his face in your chest again. "Nothing," he sighed. He was too tired and in too much pain to think. The warmth and comfort of your embrace kept him sleepy and calm.
You slid a hand through his hair, lulling him, while the other traced circles on his back.
"I'm glad to hear you again."

With this in mind, I'd like to ask anyone out there with some skill in reading Japanese: Would you please look at the Japanese raws for ch196 and do your own translations of it, particularly that last full-page panel.
Yen Press has been making a lot of weird translation judgment calls over the years, and this one would be major, if the wording was intended to be way different than what we were handed... and what many of us actually paid for.
Ch196 (p5), Wavy spell
Idk what else to call it. We've seen real Ciel do this, too, back when Undertaker caught him mid-fall. Of course, Snake wants to help when he sees Doll fall.
Tumblr media
But Doll must be embarrassed. It's not just about the fall itself, though.
Tumblr media
Doll is making false excuses for the fall and won't turn around to look at them.
Also, that chick's name is Susan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When she says "them", does she specifically mean Snake and Finny? Our earl and Sebastian? Or is "everyone" also "them"? And whose Hell? 🤔
But this is how real Ciel looks after his wavy spells. A dizzy spell, for sure, but it also means the onset of these darkened veins. She needs a transfusion and won't function properly again until she's had one.
Idk if Susan even knows what's happening to Doll; Susan might be completely in the dark about the blood supply operation and really thinks this is just an eccentric orphanage. How does Doll go about getting a transfusion while she's on the premises of the orphanage? Who there actually knows she's one of the beneficiaries of the facility? 🤔

These two actors will be playing the main characters in the hell is other people adaptation that is being produced in Japan right now! Release date is set for november 15 this year.
As far as I know, they will be adapting the webtoon and not remake the korean drama. I expect a lot of changes to be made, especially since the character on the right is reminding me more of the webtoon version of moonjo, aka yeongsam/영삼 (he even resembles Ki-Hyuk, who resembled Yeongsam a lot too)
the webtoon antagonist looks like this by the way:
Tumblr media
As for the actors, here is what I could find:
- Jongwoo is renamed "Yuu" and is played by Hachimura Rintaro (funny enough, the guy is also part of a boy group/an Idol. Just like Yim Siwan). His only acting roles so far are this movie, another movie and a series.
- Moonjo/Yeongsam is renamed "Kirishima" and is played by Yanagi Shuntaro. He has played in quite a lot of movies, including horror and thriller works.
- Ji-eun (girlfriend of Jongwoo) is renamed "Megumi" and is played by Okada Yui (google translate gave me the name "Yumi" name which tells you it's not really accurate...). She has played in quite a lot of movies and series, including horror and thriller works.
- I'm pretty sure "Yamaguchi" who is described as yakuza-like man is Hee-Joong, the guy that "moves out" early.
- "Maru" and "Goru" are probably the twins.
- the only name left is "Yoshiko" which might be the owner of Eden or in this case, "Hakubone"
Here are all the co-star actors names I found:
Kento Miura
Sayaka Aoki
Takato Okura
Masato Hagiwara
Takeru Suzuki
Kousuke Hoshi
Takayuki Hamatsu
Mikoto Hibi
Yohei Matsukado
Eden seems to be renamed "Hakubone" which means boat or ark (Ark was also the name google translate gave me, it's probably referencing Noah's Ark).
As for the director, their name seems to be Kodama Kazuto, I looked through their works and they directed over 60 horror movies since 2005, I have yet to see any of their works but I will check them out, i'm really curious how the quality of them is.
here are the sources I used:
english: x
japanese: x (if you translate this, there is some extra comments made by the actors included at the end of the article)
also, an asianwiki page was made for the movie: x

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” ‭‭—Psalm‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)
“Take Your Hands Off” By Warren W. Wiersbe:
“The Hebrew word translated “be still” actually means, “take your hands off.” God is saying to us, “Take your hands off, and let Me be God in your life.” So often we want to manipulate and control. We talk about those who are “hands on” people.
In the Christian life, God uses our hands. He used Noah’s hands to build the ark. He used David’s hands to kill a giant. He used the apostles’ hands to feed 5000 people. But sometimes only God’s hand can do the job. Sometimes our hands get in the way because we are manipulating, plotting or scheming.
A friend of mine used to remind me, “Faith is living without scheming.” Whenever I discover myself pushing and prodding, God says to me, “Take your hands off. Be still, and know that I am God.” The difference is simply this— If we play God in our lives, everything is going to fall apart. But if we let Him truly be God in our lives, He will be exalted. He will be with us and He will get the job done.
Are you facing a problem or a challenge today? Are you wondering what you will do? Give it to the Lord. A time will come when He will say, “Alright, I will use your hands.” But until then, keep your hands off. Know that He is God. He does not expect us to do what only He can do. We can roll the stone away from the tomb of Lazarus, but only He can raise the dead. We can hand out the bread, but only He can multiply it. Let Him be God in your life.”

Linda³ Again (1997)
A remake of the earlier PC Engine CD game Linda³, which just recently got an English fan translation. Notably features character designs by Tatsuyuki Tanaka, a Japanese illustrator and animator who did Key Animation on Akira, Bubblegum Crisis, Riding Bean, and Blade Runner: Black Out 2022, among others.
Game description courtesy of Hardcore Gaming 101:
The game takes place on the Earth-like colony planet of Neo Kenya. In eight years, a meteor will hit, destroying everyone and everything. There’s no way to stop it, but thankfully (and mysteriously) an ark drops out of the sky, allowing the denizens to preserve some of their planet’s elements while they escape off to the stars. Your goal, as a ranger named Ken Challenger, is to roam the landscape and collect two of every animal you can find, then register them with the ark, before time runs out. ... A “Noah’s Ark JRPG” is enough of an interesting idea to stand on its own, but Linda³ goes even further by dividing itself into three scenarios, each in alternate timelines, which present different requirements for victory and changing what parts of Neo Kenya you can explore.

Chapter 208 was both interesting and a little disheartening in terms of how we got such little backstory for Snake before the circus… we didn't even get to see Beast and Dagger give the owner of the freak show a good thrashing.
Tumblr media
I'm making a post talking about the theory of Snake being originally a snake relating to this last chapter. But firstly I'd like to say some things that have nothing to do with my theory:
One of them was that there were children being loaded into a carriage in that freak show. I've read @abybweisse 's take on the chapter and she's already mentioned this. I agree that those children unfortunately probably went to Kelvin.
Tumblr media
Another one is that I think these are small rats and not mice, judging by the body dimensions. I translated the price he was asking for each rat to nowadays and it gave me £9.77 each. Which is about 11,41 EUR and 12.40 USD. Edit: Apologies, I just want to clarify that the Japanese word for both mouse and rat is the same: ネズミ nezumi. So there is no clear way to distinguish what was meant through words.
Finally, I want to bring attention to what happens when someone buys one of them. Since he spits out the rat after the man leaves we're left with the sense that it's a make believe trick every time. I don't think it is, because the tray held 3 more pre-killed rats.
Tumblr media
The owner of the "attraction" called the visitor a cheap skate for not buying another one. If he hadn't been a "cheap-skate" and had bought another one, what would have happened? You might be able to fit two of them in your mouth and pretend to eat them, but three? No chance. And if the spectator was to buy another rat at the price of 10 pounds, he'd want to make sure he had swallowed the first one before paying for the next. It's heartbreaking but there's no two ways about it… there were a total of 4 rats in the tray. I think most people don't realize how strongly a rat that is dirty and not in sanitary "pet" conditions can smell. Rats urinate all over each other to mark territory, eat their own feces… And from seeing the cage that Snake kept the mice in at the Noah's Ark Circus, I'm quite positive that this freak show wouldn't keep them in any bigger of a cage or less crowded.
Tumblr media
It saddens me a little that we don't get to know just the extent of the abuse, the injustices that he went through and the possible beatings he took to reach this point in which he so compliantly eats those rats. As we've seen before, one of the owners had a whip.
Tumblr media
I shall be posting more soon! Thank you for reading.

D. Gray Man and My Hero Academia Crossover
Tumblr media
Partly because I imagine Allen's left hand in the My Hero world would probably make him a heteromorph with some warp gate abilities on account of Noah's Ark.
Partly because the thought of him just bitch-slapping someone with that Edward Scissorhands monstrosity entertains me.
...
Honestly, if I were going to do a crossover with these two, I would have D. Gray Man in the My Hero world. No Innocence or akuma, just Quirks and villains. Most of the exorcists, akuma, and Noah already have powers that can be translated into Quirks.
Since Cross' nationality is not confirmed and anything goes, I would write him as Endeavor's brother on account of the red hair. Three reasons:
Cross' snarky behavior is basically Touya with a few more decades of practice in being a smart ass.
The idea of Endeavor having an estranged and aggravating drunk for a brother who occasionally drops by to borrow money is funny to me.
Just the concept of Shouto taking note of Allen being Cross' 'apprentice' and having white hair, and his mind just exploding from that resulting conspiracy theory.

Hi! I don't know if this exactly fits for storytelling Saturday but it feels like the place to share. Please feel free to ignore this if it isn't what you're looking for/interested in. I just recently finished reading Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H for my LQBTQ+ book club and I found it really really interesting and it gave me a lot to think about. It is a memoir by a queer Muslim and follows her journey to the US and grappling with her sexuality alongside racism and islamophobia and struggling to find a community all while fitting these stories against and within stories and prayers from the Quran and discussing how she finds faith and peace through her religion.
I was raised Presbyterian, and I found it extremely interesting to listen to her tell stories that I knew - stories of Mary's virgin birth, Noah and his ark, Joseph and his brothers, and Moses freeing his people for example - and contemplate the differences between how I grew up learning those stories and how she was taught and learns to interpret them through her faith. But in addition to that I really loved the way she writes about questioning the stories, the translations, the meanings and digs deeper into all of it in a way that I am not sure I ever have. It led me to contemplate questions about the intersections of faith and womanhood and childbearing and putting a queer lens on readings, on the pronouns we use for God and the ability, the potential rightness even, of questioning some of the more surface level lessons and take aways from the stories and parables we are told. And throughout it all, she maintains both her faith and her queerness. And while she grapples with it, she never made it sound like the two were incompatible which is a narrative I have so rarely heard, much less seen published and applauded.
I'm really sorry this is so long and rambley, I kind of lost the plot there in the middle haha, but I am so fascinated by the feelings and questions this has helped surface for me. The idea that queer love and bravery and the forging of one's own path is not a negative but rather a spiritual experience, something to be done alongside God and with God, while also allowing for frustration and anger and sorrow, it just really hit me and I thought it was really special.
This totally fits, thank you for sharing it! I've actually had Hijab Butch Blues on hold at my library for a while now; now I'm extra excited for it to come in. I love when others' stories enrich and expand our understanding of our own. Very cool.
It's Storytelling Saturday! Share your story.

i Never thought about this before, have you? :
I have always thought that Noah was safe inside the Ark because he built it according to God's specifications. I thought that perhaps it was the strength of the gopher wood and the soundness of the architecture that ensured that the waters of the flood would not come into the Ark.
But today I encountered a verse that shifted this whole paradigm. Let's read what Gen 7:16 says ... "The animals going in were male and female of every living thing as God had commanded Noah... THEN GOD SHUT HIM IN....
Don't miss this.... even after Noah had built the Ark, it was God Himself who shut him in, in order to shut out the waters of the flood... In other translations this verse says "The Lord sealed them inside."
It is not the fact that you have locked your house that keeps you safe at night, it is not your good driving skills that keeps you safe on the road, neither it's your healthy eating habits that keeps you healthy - only God can shut you in and shut out the devil that is seeking to devour you.
Without Him, we are nothing.
Amen!!

Random Fact #6,574
The Biblical story of Noah's Ark is a retelling of an older Babylonian story about a guy named Utnapishtim.
The story of Utnapishtim can be found in the Epic of Gilgamesh, which is hands down the oldest story ever written down (that we know of).
The tale is told in two parts (it would seem story arcs were as popular 4,100 years ago as they are today). The first part is wonderfully bizarre and tells the story of Enkidu (a hairy wild gazelle man), his unlikely bromance (and possibly outright romance) with King Gilgamesh of Uruk, and Enkidu’s eventual demise.
The second part centers on Gilgamesh, who’s distraught over the death of his friend and sets out on a perilous journey in search of the secret to eternal life.
You can read two translations of the story here and here.
If you prefer listening to stories rather than reading or aren’t a fan of the way old-timey text is written, we would highly recommend the three-part episode of the podcast Myths & Legends.

Ch208, Spoilers part 2
One day, some visitors come, and they look like they are from a circus. I don't know the circumstances in which they get to take him away. Do they break him out? Does his "owner" sell him off? Does something happen to the owner of the freak show?
Tumblr media
Whatever the case, Joker asks him what's his name, and apparently Snake didn't really have one (that he could recall?), so Joker simply names him "Snake". Meanwhile, I see someone (Dagger, I think) bringing children into the back of a wagon; are they being collected for Kelvin?!?
Tumblr media
Doll puts out a hand and offers for Snake to leave with them. He accepts the offer and goes with them to Noah's Ark Circus.
Tumblr media
There, Doll seems to ask "チキンと汁一クどつち食う?", which google translates as "Would you rather eat chicken or a cup of soup?" Snake doesn't give an answer, so Doll says "黙ってちやわかんねーだろ?", like "You can't just keep quiet, right?" Then Jumbo walks over. I haven't had time yet to translate what he says, but Snake still isn't talking.
Tumblr media
Emily tells Snake "...チキン" (chicken), and finally Snake says "あとメスりて言ってる" (I'm saying it's a female) or "あとメス りて言ってる" (Also, it says female). I'm not sure if Jumbo and Doll are excited about that snake being a girl, Snake speaking with snakes, or simply the fact that Snake has finally said something.
Tumblr media
Then Jumbo says something like "これはしデイに失礼をお名前を伺っても?" (Please excuse me if I ask your name?). Either that or more like "My apologies to this day. May I ask your name?"
The bubble with "そうですね... エミリー なんてどうでしよう" means something like "I agree... Emily, what should I do?" Followed by "嵐が丘 の考者 エリス・ベルの本名です" (This is the real name of Ellis Bell, the thinker [author] of Wuthering Heights).
Tumblr media
Snake considers the name "Emily" for this snake, and then another snake gets in the way and Snake says "俺にも名前を付けてくれ つて言つてる" (Give me a name, too, it's saying).
Tumblr media
Looks like the other snakes all want Jumbo to name them.
Then Dagger and Doll work on an outfit for him, and they are later shown enjoying meals together.
Tumblr media
But time passes, and then one day our earl and Sebastian show up....
Tumblr media
I'll try to get more translations done soon.
EDIT: Corrections:
Doll offers chicken or pork (not chicken or soup)
Snake says something more like "chicken... says the female one"
Jumbo calls the female snake "lady" when he apologizes

The Covenant of the Rainbow (Genesis 6:13-22)
1 And God blesseth Noah, and his sons, and saith to them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth; 2 and your fear and your dread is on every beast of the earth, and on every fowl of the heavens, on all that creepeth on the ground, and on all fishes of the sea — into your hand they have been given. 3 Every creeping thing that is alive, to you it is for food; as the green herb I have given to you the whole; 4 only flesh in its life — its blood — ye do not eat. 5 ‘And only your blood for your lives do I require; from the hand of every living thing I require it, and from the hand of man, from the hand of every man’s brother I require the life of man;
6 whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man is his blood shed: for in the image of God hath He made man.
7 And ye, be fruitful and multiply, teem in the earth, and multiply in it.’
8 And God speaketh unto Noah, and unto his sons with him, saying, 9 ‘And I, lo, I am establishing My covenant with you, and with your seed after you, 10 and with every living creature which [is] with you, among fowl, among cattle, and among every beast of the earth with you, from all who are going out of the ark — to every beast of the earth. 11 And I have established My covenant with you, and all flesh is not any more cut off by waters of a deluge, and there is not any more a deluge to destroy the earth.’ 12 And God saith, ‘This is a token of the covenant which I am giving between Me and you, and every living creature that [is] with you, to generations age-during; 13 My bow I have given in the cloud, and it hath been for a token of a covenant between Me and the earth; 14 and it hath come to pass (in My sending a cloud over the earth) that the bow hath been seen in the cloud, 15 and I have remembered My covenant which is between Me and you, and every living creature among all flesh, and the waters become no more a deluge to destroy all flesh; 16 and the bow hath been in the cloud, and I have seen it — to remember the covenant age-during between God and every living creature among all flesh which [is] on the earth.’ 17 And God saith unto Noah, ‘This [is] a token of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that [is] upon the earth.’
Noah's Sons
18 And the sons of Noah who are going out of the ark are Shem, and Ham, and Japheth; and Ham is father of Canaan. 19 These three [are] sons of Noah, and from these hath all the earth been overspread.
Noah's Shame and Canaan's Curse
20 And Noah remaineth a man of the ground, and planteth a vineyard, 21 and drinketh of the wine, and is drunken, and uncovereth himself in the midst of the tent. 22 And Ham, father of Canaan, seeth the nakedness of his father, and declareth to his two brethren without. 23 And Shem taketh — Japheth also — the garment, and they place on the shoulder of them both, and go backward, and cover the nakedness of their father; and their faces [are] backward, and their father’s nakedness they have not seen. 24 And Noah awaketh from his wine, and knoweth that which his young son hath done to him,
25 and saith: ‘Cursed [is] Canaan, Servant of servants he is to his brethren.’
Shem's Blessing and Noah's Death
26 And he saith: ‘Blessed of Jehovah my God [is] Shem, And Canaan is servant to him.
27 God doth give beauty to Japheth, And he dwelleth in tents of Shem, And Canaan is servant to him.’
28 And Noah liveth after the deluge three hundred and fifty years; 29 and all the days of Noah are nine hundred and fifty years, and he dieth. — Genesis 9 | Young's Literal Translation (YLT) Young’s Literal Translation of the Holy Bible is in the public domain.
