Watching Inspector Koo helped me understand why the council of the Merciless Evil Devil From Hell megafandom has been rejecting Psychopath Diary as a part of their own for the last couple of years.
What the plots of The Merciless, Beyond Evil, The Devil Judge and Strangers From Hell have in common is the dynamic between their main characters. It’s required one character that represents corruption (Jaeho, Dongsik, Yohan and Moonjo) and one character that has the potential to be corrupted or is already corrupted and ignorant to/in denial about it (Hyunsoo, Joowon, Gaon and Jongwoo).
All of them begin on opposite sides of their counterparts (even in the circumstance where they work on the same team, they have their own agendas, and distrust and/or disagreements are ever present). Eventually, however, the ones with potential to be corrupted will choose to be on the side of the characters that represent corruption, whether definitely or temporarily (in Hyunsoo’s tragic case). This transition to the side of their counterparts happens after they comprehend and sympathize with their motivations.
The forementioned transition never happens in Psychopath Diary. The main character (Dongsik) was forced to learn about and analyze his counterpart (Inwoo)’s inner thoughts and motivations in order to understand himself, during the time Dongsik mistakenly believed he was Inwoo and only had his diary to guide him. Despite being initially motivated by a misunderstanding, his dedication brought results: he understands Inwoo, profoundly. But—much like the protagonist of Inspector Koo with her counterpart—he doesn’t agree with him. When he tried to wear Inwoo’s skin, his instinct rejected it. He had to modify it to something that made sense to him, something he could consent to. The same energy, but opposite moral codes.
Dongsik, with his sense of identity intact, wouldn’t be swayed by Inwoo’s cause. He couldn’t be persuaded, because he wasn't tempted. A characteristic he lacked in comparison to the characters from the MEDFH who gave in to it. Who accepted it because their energies matched their counterparts’; not for being opposites, but for being similar. The same moral code, or at least one flexible enough to accept theirs and stand tall by their side.

As Siwan’s Mantis is about to be released, I’m excited. But his looks gave me an idea
Tumblr media
There should a show like Real Housewives of Kdrama where the wives are all characters from thriller kdramas (men and women both)
Like couples will come from Strangers From Hell (obviously), Beyond Evil, Devil Judge, Merciless, Mouse, Penthouse, Bad and Crazy, Squid game, psychopath diary etc
All the wives will have their corresponding husbands, of course
I guess I’m just craving some drama. What do you guys think, who else we can add ? 😏😏😏😏
Also, what would be their intro ?
For Jung Woo, it would probably be
“My enemies …. Become my jewelries…”

The Worst Evil
It might be too early to tell since I've only seen clips on tiktok and the first half of episode one.
But one thing that the separate shows from the Merciless, Evil Devil from Hell mega fandom canon have in common is that the names are all negative.
The Merciless
Beyond Evil
The Devil Judge
Strangers from Hell
Do we see a theme in these titles?
Does "The Worst Evil" fit in? yes it does.
Does it have two guys in the forefront who are going to be sharing a lot of screen time and staring into each other's eyes for heterosexual reasons? yes it does.
Am I ready to fool myself into thinking I'm watching queer romance thriller? yes I am.

These two actors will be playing the main characters in the hell is other people adaptation that is being produced in Japan right now! Release date is set for november 15 this year.
As far as I know, they will be adapting the webtoon and not remake the korean drama. I expect a lot of changes to be made, especially since the character on the right is reminding me more of the webtoon version of moonjo, aka yeongsam/영삼 (he even resembles Ki-Hyuk, who resembled Yeongsam a lot too)
the webtoon antagonist looks like this by the way:
Tumblr media
As for the actors, here is what I could find:
- Jongwoo is renamed "Yuu" and is played by Hachimura Rintaro (funny enough, the guy is also part of a boy group/an Idol. Just like Yim Siwan). His only acting roles so far are this movie, another movie and a series.
- Moonjo/Yeongsam is renamed "Kirishima" and is played by Yanagi Shuntaro. He has played in quite a lot of movies, including horror and thriller works.
- Ji-eun (girlfriend of Jongwoo) is renamed "Megumi" and is played by Okada Yui (google translate gave me the name "Yumi" name which tells you it's not really accurate...). She has played in quite a lot of movies and series, including horror and thriller works.
- I'm pretty sure "Yamaguchi" who is described as yakuza-like man is Hee-Joong, the guy that "moves out" early.
- "Maru" and "Goru" are probably the twins.
- the only name left is "Yoshiko" which might be the owner of Eden or in this case, "Hakubone"
Here are all the co-star actors names I found:
Kento Miura
Sayaka Aoki
Takato Okura
Masato Hagiwara
Takeru Suzuki
Kousuke Hoshi
Takayuki Hamatsu
Mikoto Hibi
Yohei Matsukado
Eden seems to be renamed "Hakubone" which means boat or ark (Ark was also the name google translate gave me, it's probably referencing Noah's Ark).
As for the director, their name seems to be Kodama Kazuto, I looked through their works and they directed over 60 horror movies since 2005, I have yet to see any of their works but I will check them out, i'm really curious how the quality of them is.
here are the sources I used:
english: x
japanese: x (if you translate this, there is some extra comments made by the actors included at the end of the article)
also, an asianwiki page was made for the movie: x

I'm still kind of new to this fandom so I don't know who coined the term "Merciless Evil Devil From Hell" but I'm as close to full membership as I'm ever going to get because I just finished watching The Merciless. (9/10. The only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is that I just watched The Villainess last night and no offense to Sol Kyungu, who is always fun, he's still not Shin Hakyun ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.) I'm obviously quite fond of The Devil Judge and Beyond Evil, but Strangers From Hell was not for me. (I gave it an honest try but it made me want to jump off the highest building I could find.)

Watched The Devil Judge for the first time today with my mom, can't wait till the end when she will inevitably be upset by the ending and I'll keep pretending they are together and dating. (I haven't finished Beyond Evil because if I never finish it one never goes to jail and other is never sad)

I hope there is another homoerotic antagonism show coming soon because The Worst Of Evil destroyed me, The Devil Judge broke me bc they parted ways, Beyond Evil made me sad bc they parted ways, The Merciless killed me, D.P. also made me sad, can I please for the love of God have a show where the two main characters stay together until the end or do I have to learn Korean move to South Korea and become a screenwriter myself

Why don't the Hannibal girlies and Merciless evil devil from hell girlies hop on Shin Joo Hyuk and Ryu Soo Yeol from Bad and Crazy
Spoilers under the cut
I probably know why, and it is partially because of how late in the show their dynamic starts and how little time they have to explore it, as well as the fact that there is a more dominant ship people are focusing on, and the fact that the show doesn't really call these types of fans to it, but maybe I could help a bit with the last one.
Now, first things first, Shin Joo Hyuk is actually Ryu Soo Yeol's therapist. He sees right through him from the first meeting because, obviously he already knows him and already has ulterior motives in mind. Sound familiar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Secondly, there is the murder aspect. Ryu Soo Yeol was once a child named In Jae Hui and he ended up meeting Shin Joo Hyuk aka Jeong Yun Ho as a child and was manipulated by him into making a pact to kill their fathers and run away together. This was suspected to be Yun Ho's first murder, and he became obsessed with Jae Hui until adulthood because Jae Hui's alter ego, K, jumped in and Jae Hui didn't kill anyone.
Tumblr media
Shin Joo Hyuk is incredibly intelligent, getting multiple young adults and teenagers to kill their abusers and sometimes themselves all to get Soo Yeol's attention and Soo Yeol, once he realizes who Joo Hyuk is, is justly horrified. Also, his interest in Soo Yeol is delightfully vague. Why Soo Yeol? Because of his alter ego? Because he failed? Because he was his first victim? Because he's hot? Who knows. He does have pretty eyes though. Again, sound familiar?
Tumblr media
So, yeah they fit in great. Also, this post is purely for my own benefit. I see no fanfiction and hardly any posts about Shin Joo Hyuk at all and I just wanted to bring about the change I wanted to see in the world. I also completely ship K and Soo Yeol, so don't take this post as saying I think people are wrong for focusing on them, they are phenomenal. I just wanted to get the darker romance girlies to look at them.
Last thing to add is the pretty factor
Tumblr media
Ryu Soo Yeol played by Lee Dong Wook (Also plays Moonjo in Strangers from Hell)
Tumblr media
Shin Joo Hyuk played by Jung Sung Il (I couldn't even find a good gif for him guys please.)

and what do you know? it's two dudes on the cover. i find myself wondering if this is another addition to the kdrama merciless evil devil from hell fandom? because the title also has devil and we know what that means.
i guess i'll give it a try this weekend and see if it's my newest baby!

is it easier to stay? is it easier to go? (i don't wanna know)
Fandom: The Merciless (2017)
Relationship: Han Jaeho × Jo Hyunsoo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perhaps it was easier this way.
Jaeho would leave, never facing the consequences of his actions, and Hyunsoo, ever the fool wearing his heart on his sleeve, would die.
Jaeho would pull the trigger, and Hyunsoo's brain would splatter all over the dusty worn couch of the abandoned orphanage.
Jaeho would probably leave Hyunsoo's body here for Chun Insook to find. For her to wipe his records and dump his body in the Han river, or burn it with the rest of the bodies of the dead officers. Remove this whole operation, years of his life, from existence.
It was easier this way.
But Han Jaeho never liked anything easy.
A step forward, a harsh pull at his suit jacket and Jaeho is crashing his mouth on Hyunsoo's, finger still on the trigger, muzzle hot at his temple.
This complicates things, just as Jaeho likes it.
But this. This, Hyunsoo's wanted for so long. His hyung, kissing him, holding him, breathing life into him.
But, he'd also wanted his mother to live.
So, Hyunsoo tongues into Jaeho's mouth, bites down and twists the gun free from his hand when he's distracted.
The whole thing is reversed, is wrong. Jaeho is on the wrong end of his gun.
His hyung is smiling. That's it, that's my boy.
Hyunsoo tightens his grip on the gun. Why are you proud?
He keeps pulling the trigger until the chamber empties.
Blood splatters on the couch.
It wasn't easier this way.
