hiiii i'm moony from @otacringe and this is my jojo sideblog or something. u can check my main for more info but for the basics i go by they/them or de/dem, i'm a minor, and i've been into jojo for about 4-5 years (i can't escape. it never ends.)

Something about the inherent Lest/Maddie parallel that exists in Arcane S2—each of them the honeypot relaying the pillow talk of the clueless aristocrat they're sleeping with back to who they're really loyal to—and the way it reflects how Mel learned more from her mother than she likes admitting to herself (or than Ambessa ever gave her credit for until the very end) because, on the surface, they both use the same tactic to keep an eye on their potential rival.

And yet! Mel's compassionate treatment of Lest (a trans woman sex worker who she considers a genuine friend, is protective of and willing to accept criticism from, and who she refuses to consider expendable) contrasted to Ambessa's contingency plan with Maddie (a radicalized fascist who she converted into an asset by convincing her she was a more effective leader than Caitlyn and who was, in the end, eminently expendable) is one of the starkest illustrations of just how different Mel is, and how much better a leader of the Medarda clan she's going to be.

Meljayvik ramblings, with trans Viktor:

I think it would be funny if meljayvik were together but kept it strictly meljay and jayvik and were super scheduled and cordial about it, melvik barely interacting

UNTIL

Viktor is particularly grouchy and frowny in the lab one morning, making more snappy comments than usual, but otherwise normal. Mel comes into the lab to drape over Jayce's back where he's sat, more touchy than usual and struggling not to pout, when she thinks no one's looking.

Jayce feels his 'be a good boyfriend' senses tingling and squints back and forth between Mel and Viktor, thinking for a moment before sucking in a breath.

Jayce: oh no

MelVik: what?

Jayce: we need to go. Viktor, get your stuff. Mel, tell Elora to clear your schedule, this is an emergency.

MelVik (irritated): wtf, why?

Jayce: you've synced up.

MelVik: ???

Jayce: ummm... you're both... menstruating right now, and we need to go home so I can get Viktor his favourite blanket and that hot waterbottle you like Mel, and I have a stock of the chocolates from that dessert place that you both like different things from, and then I can make some mac and cheese and do the good footrubs and we can watch that documentary you like Mel and the soap opera you like Viktor and-

And so after that Viktor and Mel spend so much time chilling out together on Jayce's couch while he runs around getting them stuff like a period genie, that it's pretty natural that they fall into a relationship too

Melvik + T4T

A Pre-transition Viktor was infatuated by Mel for years. When Mel started dating Viktor's best friend she sees Viktor less and less. Even as she spent less time with Viktor, the obsession remained. Admiration, jealousy, lust, and love painted every thought Viktor had of her. Viktor tried to use the Arcane to finally stamp out this torture.

Only, the emotions don't really leave. Instead the arcane slung Viktor farther toward the future he was trying to escape. Changing and reshaping his body.

At some point, Jayce left Piltover without a goodbye to either his best friend or girlfriend.

Mel turns to the commune to comfort her heartbreak. In isolation their bond grows. Can their love survive Jayce's return? Would he even recognize the woman his best friend has become?
