I'm excited to be writing multiple gender identities into my story! Even if some characters are very minor. This was something I did not feel as confident about when I began, and now I do. No idea what changed... It isn't something I have much personal experience with, but I think it's a wonderful addition to the characterization of a few people. And it isn't the focus of their story, it is just who they are.

I have an OC who is nonbinary, which you learn about from Book 1, and then Mary is trans (mtf) but you don't learn this until Book 6. I'll share it here though because it isn't a major plot spoiler. And hardly anyone will see this anyways. ;)

I'm currently (finally) writing Book 6 and feeling excited about it! I hope I do all my lovely characters justice.

I am so grateful to other people's fanfics and published fiction which have demystified and normalized these experiences for me. I hope to see a wider variety of gender identities represented in YA fiction and media in the near future (and adult fiction for that matter). There are probably more works out there than I know, I just don't have time to search them out right now.
