So so indebted to u for posting those lovely illustrations from Cyrano <333 & even more so for yr tags!! I'm completely in love w yr analysis, please feel free to ramble as long as u wish! Browsing through yr Cyrano de Bergerac tag has given me glimpses of so many adaptations & translations I'd never heard of before! I'll be watching the Solès version next, which I have only discovered today through u ^_^ As for translations, have u read many/all of them? I've only encountered the Renauld & Burgess translations in the wild, & I was curious to hear yr translation thoughts that they might guide my decision on which one I buy first (not necessarily Renauld or Burgess ofc). Have a splendid day & sorry for the likespam! đ
Sorry for the delay. Don't mind the likespam, I'm glad you enjoyed my tags about Cyrano, and that they could contribute a bit to a further appreciation of the play. I loved it a lot, I got obsessed with it for months. It's always nice to know other people deeply love too that which is loved haha I hope you enjoy the Solès version, it may well be my favourite one!
About translations, I'm touched you're asking me, but I don't really know whether mine is the best opinion to ask. I have read... four or five English translations iirc, the ones I could find online, and I do (and especially did, back when I was reading them) have a lot of opinions about them. However, nor English nor French are my first languages (they are third and fourth respectively, so not even close). I just read and compare translations because that's one of my favourite things to do.
The fact is that no translation is perfect, of course. I barely remember Renauld's, but I think it was quite literal; that's good for understanding the basics of the text, concepts and characters, but form is subject, and there's always something that escapes too literal translations. Thomas and Guillemard's if I recall correctly is similar to Hooker's in cadence. It had some beautiful fragments, some I preferred over Hooker's, but overall I think to recall I liked Hooker's more. If memory serves, Hooker's was the most traditionally poetic and beautiful in my opinion. Burgess' is a whole different thing, with its perks and drawbacks.
Something noticeable in the other translations is that they are too... "epic". They do well the poetic, sorrowful, grief stricken, crushed by regrets aspects of Cyrano and the play in general, but they fall quite short in the funny and even pathetic aspects, and that too is key in Cyrano, both character and play. Given the characteristics of both languages, following the cadence of the French too literally, with those long verses, makes an English version sound far too solemn at times when the French text isn't. Thus Burgess changes the very cadence of the text, adapting it more to the English language. This translation is the one that best sets the different moods in the play, and as I said before form is subject, and that too is key: after all, the poetic aspect of Cyrano is as much true as his angry facet and his goofy one. If Cyrano isn't funny he isn't Cyrano, just as he wouldn't be Cyrano without his devotion to Roxane or his insecurities; Cyrano is who he is precisely because he has all these facets, because one side covers the other, because one trait is born from another, because one facet is used as weapon to protect the others, like a game of mirrors and smoke. We see them at different points through the play, often converging. Burgess' enhances that. He plays with the language itself in form and musicality, with words and absences, with truths masking other truths, with things stated but untold, much like Cyrano does. And the stage directions, poetic and with literary value in their own right in a way that reminded me of Valle InclĂĄn and Oscar Wilde, interact with the text at times in an almost metatextual dimension that enhances that bond Cyrano has with words, giving them a sort of liminal air and strengthening that constant in the play: that words both conceal and unveil Cyrano, that in words he hides and words give him away.
But not all is good, at all. Unlike Hooker, Burgess reads to me as not entirely understanding every facet of the characters, and as if he didn't even like the play all that much, as if he had a bit of a disdainful attitude towards it, and found it too mushy. Which I can understand, but then why do you translate it? In my opinion the Burgess' translation does well bending English to transmit the different moods the French text does, and does pretty well understanding the more solemn, cool, funny, angry, poetic aspects of Cyrano, but less so his devotion, vulnerability, insecurities and his pathetism. It doesn't seem to get Roxane at all, how similar she is to Cyrano, nor why she has so many admirers. It does a very poor job at understanding Christian and his value, and writes him off as stupid imo. While I enjoyed the language aspect of the Burgess translation, I remember being quite angry at certain points reading it because of what it did to the characters and some changes he introduces. I think he did something very questionable with Le Bret and Castel-Jaloux, and I remember being incensed because of Roxane at times (for instance, she doesn't go to Arras in his version, which is a key scene to show just how much fire Roxane has, and that establishes several parallels with Cyrano, in attitude and words, but even in act since she does a bit what Cyrano later does with the nuns in the last act), and being very angry at several choices about Christian too. While not explicitly stated, I think the McAvoy production and the musical both follow this translation, because they too introduce these changes, and they make Christian as a character, and to an extent the entire play, not make sense.
For instance, once such change is that Christian is afraid that Roxane will be cultured (McAvoy's version has that infamous "shit"/"fuck" that I detest), when in the original French it's literally the opposite. He is not afraid she will be cultured, he is afraid she won't, because he does love and appreciate and admires those aspects of her, as he appreciates and admires them in Cyrano. That's key! Just as Cyrano longs to have what Christian has, Christian wants the same! That words escape him doesn't mean he doesn't understand or appreciate them. The dynamics make no sense without this aspect, and Burgess (and the productions that directly or indirectly follow him) constantly erases this core trait of Christian.
Another key moment of Christian Burgess butchers is the scene in Arras in which Christian discovers the truth. Burgess writes their discussion masterfully in form, it's both funny and poignant, but it falls short in concept: when Cyrano tells him the whole discussion about who does Roxane love and what will happen, what they'll do, is academic because they're both going to die, Christian states that dying is his role now. This destroys entirely the thing with Christian wanting Roxane to have the right to know, and the freedom to choose, or to refuse them both. As much as Cyrano proclaims his love for truth and not mincing words even in the face of authority, Cyrano is constantly drunk on lies and mirages, masks and metaphors. It's Christian who wants it all to end, the one who wants real things, the one who wants to risk his own happiness for the chance of his friend's, as well as for the woman he loves to stop living in a lie. That is a very interesting aspect of Christian, and another aspect in which he is written as both paralleling and contrasting Cyrano. It's interesting from a moral perspective and how that works with the characters, but it's also interesting from a conceptual point of view, both in text and metatextually: what they hold most dear, what they most want, what most fulfills them, what they most fear, their different approaches to life, but also metatextually another instance of that tears/blood motif and its ramifications constant through the whole text. Erasing that climatic decision and making him just simply suicidal erases those aspects of Christian and his place in the Christian/Cyrano/Roxane dynamic, all for plain superficial angst, that perhaps hits more in the moment, but holds less meaning.
Being more literal, and more solemn, Hooker's translation (or any of the others, but Hooker's seems to love the characters and understand them) doesn't make these conceptual mistakes. Now, would I not recommend reading Burgess' translation? I can't also say that. I had a lot of fun reading it, despite the occasional anger and indignation haha Would I recommend buying it? I recommend you give an eye to it first, if you're tempted and can initially only buy one.
You can read Burgess' translation entirely in archive.com. You can also find online the complete translations of Renauld, Hooker and Thomas and Guillemard. I also found a fifth one, iirc, but I can't recall it right now (I could give a look). You could read them before choosing, or read your favourite scenes and fragments in the different translations, and choose the one in which you like them better. That's often what I do.
Edit: I've checked to make sure and Roxane does appear in Arras in the translation. It's in the introduction in which it is stated that she doesn't appear in the production for which the translation was made. The conceptualisation of Roxane I criticise and that in my opinion is constant through the text does stay, though.
#I have a lot of opinions about translations in general tbh but this is not a semi clear case like in Crime and Punishment#in which there's one detail that a translation must do for me to recommend it (it used to be the one but now in English several do it)#I wouldn't recommend Burgess as a first approach to the playâ but having already read the play and knowing the text and characters#and how Burgess may modify itâ then I wouldn't not recommend it because it is the best in form in many aspects#And while he fails in direct conceptâso to speakâ form is particularly important in this play and in conveying concept and characterisatio#So idk personal taste is it I guess? Again I am not an English or French native#I vehemently recommend reading the play in French if you can and haven't done so already#Even best if you want a translation to read the translation alongside the French text#to see how the translation bends the play in form and subject#Anyway... Sorry for the long delay and the too long reply. I always end up talking too much#Oh by the way I think I saw you talk about the blood/tears motif in the act IV in some tags? It's not just act IV#The tears/soul motif is repeated through the entire text linked to Cyrano and is opposed to the body of Christian#That's why the culmination in the last act and the tears in the fourth hit so much#Like the constant of Cyrano being linked to the moon and the darkness while Roxane is the sun and the light#And also I would argue the 'pearled perfection of her smile' is not an unidentifiable trait or intangible#It's poetic and metaphoric but it's a description of her teeth. Smallâ straightâ white. Perfect teeth. That wasn't so common back then#It's quite common in classic literature to find poetic references of good teeth spoken of in these terms#Anyway...#I hope you'll find some use in this that would make the insufferable wall of text worth some of the time at least#After all time spent is a little death. I would have hated to kill a fragment of you for nothing haha#Cyrano de Bergerac#Did I tag asks? I usually delete them after a while so I think I didn't? I never recall#I talk too much#That will suffice#Hmmm it's useless in any case. I think I've talked for over twenty tags before tagging that#A wall of text and somehow I ramble in the tags nonetheless ugh#I will reread this in a bit to see if it's coherent enough. The little screen of the phone always makes me lose track of things when I writ

Sits in shambles I didn't read maybe Jorge's id correctly in the mysterious hermit logs the first god knows how many times I read them and only just now realized that it's the same id as the scientist that speaks in the agricultural notes log why must I be so bad at reading
#rat rambles#oni posting#on the bright side thats one mystery id kind of solved#by kind of I mean its most likely jorge but theres no way to comfirm it#this does make me feel like there might be some other b363 thing I missed but Im not sure if I doubt myself enough to go check rn#they are another character seen in story trait logs alongside an in game lifeform origin log just with critters this time#Ive made baseless speculation on who b363 could be based on what named characters we have without ids but its nowhere near confirmed#at least from what I remember but again Im starting to doubt myself a lil so I might double check at some point#the only idless characters we have fully marked off is nikola Im pretty sure#although based on the characters we do know anything abt itd most likely be either ada or liam but thats not saying much#ada is a fairly high probability tho since we basically 100% know that shes a part of the bioengineering department#liam possibly is too but thats more of a educated guess then smth particularly implied#Im glad I've finally realized who our lovely plant guy is tho#alas even if I find some hidden b363 content that still leaves I believe 3 ids unidentified#well we do know that at least one of them is steve but we don't know which one#and while we can take shots in the dark at who the scientist is theres also a second guard#and out of everyone we know bits and pieces abt theres no one who fits that bill or at least not anyone Im remembering#every other mentioned character is some flavor of scientist or is implied to be#not counting quinn but they are also off the table on account of not being a gravitas employee#so basically unless I missed smth the only previously established character that we know for sure is in that log is steve and the other two#could easily be any of the currently unused guys#and the other guard basically has to be unless theres scientists here that also double as guards

what's washington's eagle?
One of Audubon's unidentified birds, a very large sea eagle with a 10 foot wingspan. He claimed to have spotted them very rarely - suggesting they were nearly extinct - before he managed to shoot and dissect/paint one, which he described in detail:
This is often modernly explained as Audubon not understanding that young bald eagles lack the white head and thinking they were a new species. I personally think that's bullshit; not only does the bird only very superficially resemble a bald or golden eagle (some of the traits including a lack of mottling and an abnormally prominent supraorbital ridge along with, of course, it being huge), he was entirely familiar with juvenile bald eagles and painted/described them accurately:
if that wasn't enough, he also directly stated this wasn't the case:
Being convinced that the bird was unknown to naturalists, I felt particularly anxious to learn its habits, and in what particulars it differed from the rest of its genus. Mr. Wilson had confounded it with the bald or white-headed eagle, one of the young of which he has given the figure of, to represent it. But I am strongly inclined to believe that he never saw this bird; for it must be acknowledged that he was a very close and accurate observer, and, had he met with it, could hardly have fallen into so great an error, unless he was deceived by the near resemblance which the young of these two species bear to each other in plumage, although their difference in size is very great: but, in the old birds, the likeness ceases to exist; both in habits and appearance they are totally dissimilar.
(page 133)
more reasonably, it's been suggested he made up a giant american eagle (audubon's paintings are all life size so this would be very impressive in a gallery, and of course an eagle is very immediately evocative) in order to impress investors and plagiarized the illustration entirely rather than drawing it from life:
the other option, of course, is that he wasn't bullshitting and there really was a very large, near-extinct eagle in north america at the time that he described accurately; apparently a specimen or two were even listed in museum archives at the time (hence my comparison to the long-necked seal).
#I'm not of the 'this is 100% undoubtedly a fraud' mindset here#which in zoological and birding circles is roughly like admitting you think loch ness is full of plesiosaurs#talking tag

Horses are among the worldâs most elite athletes: When galloping, they can consume twice as much oxygen per kilogram as the fittest humans. All that oxygen supercharges horsesâ cellsâ energy-producing compartments as they crank out ATP, the chemical needed to power their impressive muscles. But making so much cellular fuel so quickly comes with a catch: the manufacture of pernicious byproduct molecules called reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can wreak havoc in cells.
How horses dealt with this biological trade-off and evolved into premier endurance athletes has long intrigued biologists. Researchers report today in Science that they have uncovered a big part of it, identifying a key mutation that lets horses safely produce so much ATP. The trait helped pave the way for horses to go from dog-size critters millions of years ago to the high-endurance athletes we know today.
The studyâs detailed molecular work makes it âexceptional,â says JosĂŠ Calbet, an expert on the cellular responses to exercise at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria who wasnât involved with the study.
The mutation in question occurs in the gene that encodes a protein called KEAP1, which acts as a biochemical bouncer, binding to a different protein called NRF2 to prevent it from entering the cellâs nucleus, where it would otherwise activate stress-response genes that help blunt cell damage.
But ROS can help NRF2 sneak in by causing KEAP1 to release its bind on the protein, allowing it to enter the nucleus and trigger the cellâs stress-response genes.
Johns Hopkins University ophthalmologist and clinician scientist Elia Duh, a senior author of the new study, didnât set out to study horses. Initially, Duh was interested in the KEAP1-NRF2 system because its role in activating stress-response genes makes it a tempting target for treating inflammationâand aging-related conditions, such as blinding retinal diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, and neurodegeneration.
Duh wondered whether any insights could be gleaned from studying the evolution of these proteins in different animals. So, he teamed up with Gianni Castiglione, an evolutionary biologist and biochemist at Vanderbilt University. Together, they scanned hundreds of vertebrate genomes looking for notable mutations to the gene for KEAP1.
The teamâs genomic work revealed birds had almost completely lost the gene, presumably an adaptation to the extreme demands of flight. When they looked in horses, researchers noticed what initially appeared to be a DNA sequence that encoded an unusually shortâand therefore presumably nonfunctionalâversion of the KEAP1 protein. But when Duhâs and Castiglioneâs team grew horse cells in culture, it discovered the protein was very much there and working. âNaturally, I was worried I was doing something wrong,â Castiglione says. âThen one day, a light bulb went off.â
As it turns out, the computer algorithm scientists had used to scan the horse genome had made a mistake. The algorithm had spotted a specific kind of mutation in the part of the KEAP1 gene that changed the messenger RNA from CGAâwhich codes for the amino acid arginineâto UGA, which is whatâs known as a âstop codon.â
Normally, the cellular machinery interprets UGA as a sign to stop translating the RNA into a protein. But instead, the horsesâ genetic machinery recodes the stop codon into a different amino acid, cysteine, causing it to ignore that order. This phenomenon, known as a stop codon read-through, is common among viruses but rare in multicellular organisms.
âThe identification of this evolutionarily significant UGA recoding event represents a potentially seminal finding, offering a model for uncovering other yet-unidentified cases of stop codon read-through,â says Hozumi Motohashi, a biologist at Tohoku University who has studied KEAP1 and NRF2.
That the replacement is a cysteine is particularly notable, Castiglione says. KEAP1 senses cellular stress through its cysteines, which contain sulfur atoms whose reactions with ROS, induce the chemical changes that cause KEAP1 to let go of NRF2. The mutation the researchers had identified adds another place on KEAP1 for ROS to interact, which makes the protein more sensitive to stressâand lets horse cells respond much faster to the cellular stress of intense exercise. âIt does make complete sense [that] by introducing another cysteine, another sulfur, you would have heightened sensitivity,â Castiglione says.
Whatâs more, this tweaking of KEAP1 is a â[key] genetic component to the puzzle of the evolution of horses,â Duh says. âOnce they figured out how to run, they could occupy all kinds of ecological niches,â Castiglione adds.
The finding could also point the way toward new kinds of drugs to treat diseases by targeting the specific parts of the KEAP1 protein that help horses hoof it. âBy looking at what evolution has figured out, we know this is a viable strategy,â Castiglione says.

C3 discourse really suffers from people seeing the traits of a single member of a group and attributing them to the entire group.
Bellâs Hells are not punk. Ashton is punk. Ashton is one member only. If you can explain to me how Orym is punk in a way that doesnât butcher his character, I might believe you, but good luck with that.
The gods did not smite Aeor. The Arch Heart did. Several gods planned to destroy the city, several more opposed the cityâs destruction, and one single god made the decision in a split second when the other option was to let an unidentified god die. The gods (plural) did not destroy the city. That was the myth we saw debunked in Downfall.
No one group can be blamed for the Schism because we donât actually know what triggered it. All we know is that the Primordials (who had assisted in creating mortals) decided they now wanted to kill mortals, and the gods split into two factions based on how much they wanted to participate. It very well could have been a Betrayer that lashed out, or maybe a Primordial did, or maybe a Prime intervened at the start of the culling. We donât know who started it, only what sides each entity landed on.
The gods did not start the Calamity. At least two Betrayers launched plans that relied entirely on mortals cooperating to help them break out, and guess what, so many mortals were willing to do it that several Betrayers broke out on the exact same day. Some Betrayers (at least Asmodeus and Gruumsh) and mortals started it, not gods as a complete and solely responsible group.
The Hells did not save the world. They saved some of the gods from being eaten by Predathos, and we donât even know which ones, because assuming otherwise requires us to accept that there was no world in which any of them could have simply fled in different directions and at least a few escaped. Not everyone went to the Prometheus School of Running Away From Things. Matt also decided that the rest of the world actually would have been fine, so unless you was to say the world is the same thing as the gods (and therefore the Hells threatened the world at gunpoint to agree with them), youâre out of luck.
The Hells didnât save Reilorans or other Ruidus-based species from genocide. The Mighty Nein and Vox Machina fought the Weave Mind and the Imperium, and Evoroa pleaded for her people to the congregation of national leaders at Vasselheim. Taking part in an already-planned scouting/sabotage mission doesnât elevate them to saving an entire group of people, especially when they skipped out on the assassination part. (This also goes back to the saving the world thing about the Hells because they didnât stop any explicitly labeled colonizers from doing anything.)
Nuance is a thing guys. Itâs okay to be nuanced. Stop making blanket statements and then using it to argue that your Blorbo is Good Actually.
#critical role#bellâs hells#all my blorbos are pieces of shit and thatâs the fun part#accept the shittiness#itâs truly the best

Your Person When They Realize They Want More With You (+ character traits) - Timeless âł

From left to right. Choose the one you canât take your eyes off of.
Applicable to a current or future person. This is someone that wants to be someone more to you. Warnings: tooth-rottingly sweet. Some suggestiveness. Some angst.
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE. Clear your mind. Time is now patient and still. Close your eyes, inhale deeply, fill your chest up to the fullest, feel the soft air brush up against the ridges of your nose. Breathe out. You may now begin.
âââââââââââ
Pile 1. âIf weâre both still single by 30, letâs get married.â âDeal.â
â˘you could be coworkers OR someone who goes in the same direction as you in the morning
⢠one day, a thought will cross their mind when theyâre ordering your favorite so-and-so, maybe coffee, maybe favorite pastry, OR they randomly keep remember weird details about you(?) like âoh y/n likes thisâŚââcuz theyâll be like âwaitâŚwhy do I know that? lol why did I just randomly rmr thatâŚâ theyâll laugh it off,,,,and then they see you again later and their heart beats a different wayâŚ
⢠they honestly did not see you like this beforeâŚ
⢠ear muffs and black sweatersâŚpuffy jacketsâŚperhaps itâs cold/snowing when it hits them how radiant you look
â˘honestly a very sweet fs. if youâre okay with vanilla people, this is def for you. if not, letâs spice it upppp (you gotta do it)
⢠itâs weird bc it hits them gradually too. like thinking âwhy are you still singleâŚwhy am i still single?â
⢠you guys have a mature vibe. ^^(relating to previous point) a lot of this pileâs fs will realize their feelings too late or will realize when youâre both financially stable
⢠maybe you give the vibe youâre not interested in them or you donât have the intention of getting marriedâat some point you may have mentioned this to them, sober or drunk, and they rmr it so their being cautious and gauging how you could feel about them, if you feel anything for them at all
⢠childhood friend kind of energy. I really donât think you see them in this way either, not until they start acting weird around you. All of sudden, theyâre not smiling as much anymore and maybe theyâre averting their gaze more
⢠it sucks bc youâll question why and will feel weirded out when they start avoiding you, turning down your requests to hang outâŚ
⢠Iâm getting a very empty feel. Either you feel empty without them or theyâve been on dates with other people in the past (youâre wondering how tf they still havenât settled) and itâs bc theyâre not feeling that âunidentifiableââŚspark. Like the one they should be feeling on dates with new people, but noâŚitâs justâŚdry. They donât know what it is tho. All of these people are attractive and share the same interests, yet thereâs just something missingâŚ
⢠if you give this a try, you will fall very fuckin hard
⢠^^ having thoughts like âhow tf do they know how to cook? were they always this hot?â lawdâŚnoticing the small things about them and itâll get you blushin
⢠honestlyâŚthereâs gonna be a huge difference in communication. youâll probably be a bit pissed- like âwhy are you acting so weird? have you been avoiding me?â
⢠theyâd give you all these excuses of why they canât hang out, and thatâs bc they wanna be a lone with their feelings. Theyâll try to suppress it at first because thereâs just no sign that you like them back, no indication of you even feeling anything romantic towards them, and it kills themâŚ
⢠I honestly see this person suffering alone from it. Theyâve got all this worry and bad energy and itâs not even your fault, so the energy is just going inwards. They canât express it- they donât even want to verbally acknowledge it bc theyâre THAT sensitive to the fact that they like you and the potential of you not liking them back. Itâs really just their own mind and doubts being the bad guy
⢠why is this happening in a car? đł you might have to conjure up a little ruse to get them in one place bc they are definitely avoiding you
⢠Iâm really getting the feeling that you were oblivious. Like it had NOT occurred to you once that they couldâve had feelings for you. The most you wouldâve thought of your relationship with them is a friendship
⢠^^ bc ngl a prominent portion of this group think the fs is too good for them, like out of their leagueâboth in physical and status
⢠they could be tall and wear glasses, or fit and good facial bone structure
⢠if you mention another person (that you could possibly interested in) theyâll purse their lips and play up that theyâre happy for you (but trust me, itâs fake as hell and youâll see it). Like they wonât even be able to hold a real smile bc theyâre already hurt by the possibilities. OR they just go quiet and say âoh, really?â *looks down, hands in pockets* if youâre both standing up. If youâre one of the oblivious bunch, youâll notice their tone change but you wonât understand whatâs wrong. (thereâs also a split amount of you that would ask whatâs wrong and others that wonât)
⢠BUUUT thereâs also a handful of fs in this pile that will look down at their feet, hands in pockets, maybe even wearing a beanie, and will avoid your eyes while passive aggressive shooting down the other person. For example, if you compliment this other person, theyâll quietly be like âwell, theyâre not THAT goodâŚâ
⢠if youâre not giving any signs STILL? then this person will try to suppress their feelings even more and will start going on dates again. this person isnât the most optimistic when it comes to thisâwhich I canât blame them for bc I think you treat them TOO much like a friend or family and joke around too casually with them that they think itâs permanently stuck like thatâEVEN THO you havenât even rejected them. thereâs also a chance youâd never even friendzoned them. Perhaps when you two were younger, you were like âewww đ¤Žđ¤Žđ¤Žâ to the prospect, but now that things are different, youâre not totally opposed to itâŚmaybe itâs crossed your mind once or twice, but you didnât think much of it reallyâŚ
â˘hella puppy vibes from this person tho. either they look the part or act it
â˘I feel kind of sad for your fs only bc some of you could friendzone them or at least have given off that vibe to them. you would go out to events with this person, even 1-on-1 and not even think of it romantically while your person is feeling this one-sided love
⢠itâs up to you guys if you want to date this person or not, but if you do, they will literally do EVERYTHING for you- esp the planning
⢠very strong cold weather, scarves, hot drinks, cold region
â˘this person tries to invite you out often
⢠i will also mention, this pile is more likely to date this person than pile 3 is to date theirs
⢠if you do end up dating, in the beginning stage of this relationship, theyâre just shy as hellllll and youâre like âwhat? đâ when you catch them staring at you â in the beginning stage, theyâre prone to laughing/giggling a lot when yall make eye contact and looking away so you donât see how flustered they are
⢠you could be an extrovert OR if not, you just really enjoy being around this person. their personality and presence balances out yours
⢠you might be unsure of what you want in a romantic partner, open to different cultures/people, kind of in your own world(?) â> like not fixated on one thing or itâs easy for you to get caught up with multiple projects/easily distracted and this person keeps track of you/keeps you grounded
⢠if you figure out that they have feelings for you, youâll start to feel bad for not seeing it earlier, youâll start to hella ruminate about it and the more you think abt them, the cuter and more appealing they seem to you
Points of Interest: infj? overthinker for sure, introvert but still good with people, the color gold, âweâre just hanging out,â going to dinner often, getting mistaken for a couple, 7:43 pm, *shrugs* âidk maybeâ (from your side), unwarranted sass (from both sides), no hookupsâthis person wants a genuine relationship with you, âyou have shit taste in love interestsâ(lmfao???), car fights, âwifeyâ *takes Snapchat selfie while sitting in the passenger seat with the more feminine energy driving*(âŚnah listen, if the more masc energy be saying this? dude is immediately submissive), curly hair or FLUFFY hair, lots of thick hair, you make this person feel like a kidâŚlike you bring them back to when they didnât have to worry about jobs and taxes, financial stability, maturity, miscommunication, amusement park dates, trench coats, âIâm feeling kind sick. Sorry đâ, excuses, excuses, excuses, âwhy havenât you been answering my texts?â, catching them try to shamelessly avoid you at the parking at their workplace, going to movies with this person and them treating it like a date (even when you donât see it that way), when will they make an actual move??
ââââââ
Pile 2. âWhat are you looking at?â
⢠yooo have you been to this personâs house before? đłđ
â˘idk if you realize this pile 2, but if it was just the two of you, alone, with some dimmed down lights and faint jazz in the background? it could get down and dirty real quick. but only if youâre not sober and not a stubborn person. otherwise, this person isnât who youâd initially think of as spouse-material
⢠Iâm pretty sure this person has thought abt it before. 200% sure. Not sure if youâve caught this, but they check you out a lot. Theyâve had their eyes on you for a whileâŚ
⢠idk if theyâre a huge flirt or just really gives off sensual vibes, but this person is hotâŚdamn
⢠something about their eyes. They always look so sensual? Or they look really seductive? Theyâve got *those* eyes ykwim? Theyâre also very laidback so that adds to their sexiness
⢠I think I lot of people wanna sleep with this person, so youâre in an unsaid âcompetitionâ â or at least the people around you see it as such. you might get a few dirty looks or sneaky glances your way from jealous people and itâs honestly tiring. you wonât care but itâs just an extra bug on your shoulder
⢠an issue tho is that you could find this person untrustworthy or not ready for commitment. theyâre just hot AND THEY KNOW IT, so if someone asks them for a piece, theyâll easily give themselves â BUT what you donât know is that a lot of the fs, NOT ALL, in this pile are very picky with who they want
⢠if youâre smart, this person could tease you for it. only bc they find it super sexy tho. Youâre not exactly friends, just acquaintances/partners in business? People who know of each other because of mutual things or people. They know you secretly want them tho even if you try to keep composure
⢠Iâm sure a lot of this pile thinks this person is conceited as hell or you could even cringe at how they are, and you wouldnât admit in front of them (not even to yourself) that you do find them attractive
⢠if youâre stubborn, possess a lot of self control, or perhaps hold yourself and others to a standard, maybe itâs just hard for people to get into your pants in generalâbut this person will like that. they think you have substance to you and youâre not like the rest
⢠This person likely has a bunch of yes-men around them. Itâs a pretty privilege thing
⢠pretty mysterious and even prettier eyes
⢠smth about those eyes man⌠youâd blow up if you look too long or steam might start coming outta your ears
⢠a lotttt smarter than they play out to be
⢠if youâve never been with this person sexually, theyâd be so down. if youâve hooked up once, theyâd hit you up again
⢠even tho this person seems noncommittal, once they commit, they REALLY do
⢠this person might be wealthy or has grown up in an affluent space
⢠OR theyâve grown up playing sports
â˘I donât think they view people as âpawnsâ necessarily. I think you perceive them as super popular but in reality, they only consider a handful of friends, real friends. this person isnât dumb and they know who kisses their ass
â˘your deviance will intrigue them. not conforming to what they want and what the people around them are like. you do what you want and they like that. they like that you also donât settle for less.
â˘but I have to say, these people donât chase. If you end up with this person, itâs bc you grew the balls to ask them out and they, impressed, agreed to it. Outside, they LOOK the same- like carry the same expression on dates, but inside, they know thereâs something more to you
⢠itâs most likely an ego thing. They donât do the asking out if youâre someone minding your own business
⢠both of you guys have an ego thing tho. This person beats you by a smidge but you think they get too much credit for justâŚexisting.
⢠theyâre thinking how people usually try to get with them, but bc you havenât yet, that kind ofâŚtugs their attention a bit. (Their spirit doesnât want me to make it obvious that theyâre lowkey affected by it lmfaoo). Itâll hang in the back of their mind, yes, but itâs not something they think about randomly in the middle of the day
⢠this person has found or will find success early in lifeâŚin their 20s or even before. Some of it may be due to their looks getting them the opportunities, but they havenât done modeling. At least, not for the sake of modeling. I donât think itâs an interest of theirs. Heavy on business person tho or someone pursuing a profession in business/finance/economics
⢠this personâs jaw is nicely shaped. they donât have too much fat around their jaw
⢠weirdly, they can be smart for their age. I think they feel a bit of pressure from being praised for so long for looking so good that they have to perform at that same level
⢠there will be chances for you to actually speak to them regularly, but they will seldom make the first move. they want you to pursue so it doesnât hurt their ego. if they canât take it anymore, theyâll approach you (preferably at an event or somewhere where youre kind ofâŚdisillusioned? stood up, standing alone somewhere feeling insecure abt somethingâŚnot in the right state of mind/unbalanced mind
â˘iâm not getting too many extroverts here. high chance a lot of you are introverted and would rather not be at this event. you either pushed yourself to be here or you HAD to be here. the people at this kind of event are not for youâŚyou donât like a lot of them and some of them feel the same towards you. you donât care too much tho (maybe a little but not to the point where it hurts your self esteem)
Points of Interest: suits, symmetrical face, blessed features, POSSIBLY MIXED RACE, hazel colored hair, brown or tan skin, hair that compliments skin color, eyes with soul, kinky as hell, realllly good looking, switch in bed, thereâs a lot of emphasis on this personâs looks, âdonât try to fight it,â 50 shades of grey (đ?!?), âif you want me, just say soâ, any slow Chris Brown song, some fs here has stubble, laidback, single hand in pocket, isnât scared to make eye contact with you, will leave a conversation with their friend midway to talk to a potential lover/partner in bed interest, zayn malik is not leaving my brain, very slow and sensual vibe, the color black or darker shades, tons of eye fucking (from them to you), intense gaze and especially intense eyes (the staring into your soul type, full of desire and curiosity type), black clothing, mysteriousness, unable to look away, intj vibes
âââââââ
Pile 3. Best friends forever.
⢠This one feels more sad than the other piles bc itâs just straight up unrequited love (from you). theyâve got the fattest crush going on but you may not feel the same way.
⢠^^ damn yeahâŚiâm getting a mixed bag for this. some of you are open towards it but the other half of you are really not interested
⢠This person has to have started out as a friend first and then started making subtle, almost too subtle and friendly, gestures that theyâre interested in you
⢠similar to pile 1, you wonât be able to tell that they like you. UNLESS, they get super (very obviously) shy when asking you to go somewhere with them, like a movie or something â and youâll be able to tell with the stuttering and head scratching and fidgeting, might struggle to make eye contact but will try
⢠^^^ The biggest distinction between this pile and pile 1 is that this person is a full on FRIEND. pile 1 is more of friends that fell apart and are reconnecting, while not considered to be a part of your friend group or close friends. in pile 3, thereâs an obvious disconnect, like some kind of veil between you two, and itâs really bc they only see you, but to you, this person is a ghost. someone that you really only feel platonic towards.
⢠they could be soft spoken or has a very⌠ânon-aggressiveâ voice when speaking to you specifically
⢠tries to send you funny stuff or make conversation on text â 50/50 answering you right away bc they donât wanna seem desperate/obvious, but theyâll remember to respond in the same day
⢠i think they hold back a lot tbh. like they have to sling back to composure whenever youâre around
⢠stares at you a lot in a group setting
⢠this person is sooooo similar to pile 1, but moreâŚmasochistic? lmfao I mean as inâŚwanting to be around you even when they know that they donât have a chance or even after youâd straight up rejected them
⢠to be honest, thereâs a chance you donât like them that way because of their looks? the personality is perfectly fine but theyâre not the type of person youâd go for if youâre looking for someone super attractive (this might be a bit harsh, but maybe a big part of why youâre comfy around them is bc theyâre not someone that has model type looks? like it makes you less nervous around them than you would be around someone crazy good looking)
⢠stalks your social media a lot, doesnât look at other people. you literally occupy their mind around the clock
⢠some people here might date this person, only for a little time tho bc there could be someone else youâre interested in, so you end up breaking up. for everyone else, youâre just really unlikely to date this person bc theyâre too far from what you consider a romantic partner
⢠in a monogamous relationship, these are the type of people that would forgive you and welcome you back into their lives if you cheated on them
⢠an extremely SMALL portion of you, and i mean very small, will actually see this person for who they are and will decide to stay with them. idk if this is out of pity, âoh itâs bc I feel bad for them đĽšâ, or possible regret- like âif I donât date this person, I might regret itââlooking at it like a missed opportunity?? if you genuinely like them and grow fond of them, it will come later and like I said, an extremely small amount of you (~99.9% nonexistent)
⢠in rejection, this person takes YEARS to get over it. even if they try dating someone else, theyâll think about you and will show care towards you â some will try to be less obvious like âitâs fine iâm over it đââď¸â but nah, you can feel it. at some point, you could feel annoyed about this
⢠thereâs a small chance that they believe youâll give them a chance after rejection so they wonât date easilyâunless you end up dating someone else and they know abt it, then theyâll do the previous bullet point
Points Of Interest: emotionally masochistic bc they keep wanting to be around you even when theyâre hurt (if rejected, this person NEEDS to take some months away from you. idk if theyâll do that right away or not), ânothing else to sayâ, âthatâs okay, I can waitâ, awkward, unrequited love, unbreakable loyalty, âaww youâre so sweetâ, this person is super rebound energy, gets their heart broken and welcomes the heartbreaker in again, snapback, acne, crooked smile, possible mbti involved (you or them): enfj, enfp, infp, isfj, esfj
âââââââ

everyone stfu rn â an alternative universe where dottore didn't stuff kabukimono with niwa's heart for his sick pleasure. instead of feeling his flutter incessantly and embarrassingly, his chest resembles the sounds of a running computer monitor LMFAOOOO. he's a mechanical puppet, after all. the more flustered he is, the louder it gets, and you'd think he's malfunctioning with the way it runs with you.
kabukimono didn't know what it was at first; it worried him a little, but the thrilling rush of emotions inundated him to the point where he didn't even care anymore. it's loud, but... not detrimental. besides, even though it's loud and humiliating, you found it adorable, didnât you? you even compared it to heart beats or arrhythmic palpitations, which not only induced the poor puppet's desire for a heart, but his infatuation towards you.
unfortunately, scaramouche would deny every single whirling motion in his chest cavity; he even considered getting that specific trait removed by dottore himself a plethora of times. he'd gaslight you into believing that you're creating delusions in that pretty little head of yours, and as he ponders about that "pretty little head" of yours, his chest does that little thing again. just what is that ridiculous attribute mocking him at every given moment with you?
whereas wanderer would bluntly and condescendingly deny the fact that it's there, or even brushes it off as a part of his programming. by now, he accepted what it was, but still wouldn't tell you the specifics (even though he had a feeling that you knew anyway). instead, he insists that you should "figure it out yourself" while pushing your head towards his chest with a cheeky chuckle, allowing you to listen to the unidentifiable noise buzz louder and louder.

wrizard's super basic guide to y-chromosome-based identification!!
for those interested, on this fitzcovery day:
a dear friend asked me to explain why i felt completely insane about the phrase "genetic distance of one" and, as usual, i got overexcited and wrote an entire thing about it complete with goofy images! it's on twt HERE, but i figured it would also be nice to pop it up here also. SO. with the caveat that it has been many years since my last bio class and this is VERY OVERSIMPLIFIED. here's
Human DNA is grouped into chromosomes. We generally have TWO of each chromosome: 22 pairs (numbered 1-22), plus one pair of sex chromosome (typically either two X-chromosomes (XX), or one X-chromosome and one Y-chromosome (XY)). That's 23 pairs, or 46 chromosomes, in total.
When producing sex cells, matching chromosome pairs will RECOMBINE (swap bits of information) - eg. one Chromosome 4 will remix itself with the other Chromosome 4, making TWO UNIQUE C4s. When the cell splits into two sex cells, each sex cell will carry ONE unique C4.
That's sexual reproduction! Every new offspring is genetically unique - new combinations of traits pop up quickly, and if they improve reproductive fitness, can be passed on to future offspring. This allows for rapid adaptation and changes in a species over time.
But what about Y-chromosomes, which donât have pairs? They can't recombine in the way paired chromosomes can - which means Y-chromosomes pretty much only change via mutation (errors in copying DNA). Mutation is VERY slow, especially compared to recombination.
This means that when an XY parent passes down their Y-chromosome to a child, chances are high that chromosome will have few, if any, changes â as opposed to X-chromosomes, which recombine in both XX parents and children, shuffling genetic information all over the place.
Due to this slow rate of change, Y-chromosomes can be more easily tracked through the generations than other human chromosomes. A Y-chromosome might be passed down nearly unchanged for hundreds of years from genetic father to genetic son.
GENETIC DISTANCE refers to the measurement of difference between two sets of DNA. The lower the genetic distance, the more closely related the two samples are likely to be. A genetic distance of 1 means the samples are close to identical.
Because we know how slowly Y-chromosomes change over time, we know that if the Y-chromosomes of two people have a low genetic distance, this implies that those people are paternally related â even if the two people live/lived hundreds of years apart.
In the case of Captain James Fitzjames, genetic data was extracted from a set of unidentified remains (a molar from a disarticulated mandible). 17 genetic markers from the molarâs Y-chromosome were compared to the Y-chromosome of a confirmed paternal relative of the Captain.
Those 17 markers were the same in both samples, giving the two Y-chromosomes a genetic distance of one â meaning, with the genetic information available, the living relative and the unidentified decedent are more than 2000 TIMES more likely to be paternally related than not.
EDIT: DOIP I MISREAD THE CHART 16 of 17 match, not all 17!!
Along with all the information we have from the historical record, the context of the remains, and this new comparative genetic analysis, we can safely conclude that this particular set of remains belong to Captain Fitzjames.
160 years isn't long in the grand scheme. Every identified set of remains is another reminder that these were people, not just a distant curiosity. It's humbling to remember not just that we have identified Cpt. Fitzjames, but that still, today, we have a genetic distance of one.
Photos and Y-chromosome comparison chart taken from Stephen, Fratpietro, and Park's paper "Identification of a senior officer from Sir John Franklinâs Northwest Passage expedition" from the Journal of Archaeological Science: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2352409X24003766?via%3Dihub
hope my nonsense is helpful and/or informative and/or at least made you smile!! if you like this sort of thing :) cheers doves

Adult mayfly showing off their beautiful wings and super long tail. Mayflies are yet another "dinosaur bug" with traits that may have been present in the first insects to evolve. For example, they can't fold their wings and instead hold them upright. Adults are very short-lived, and their sole purpose is to mate and lay eggs. The larvae live in fresh water and are an indicator of a healthy aquatic ecosystem.

Bby let's muse over Steve Harringtons ass.
Warnings: Language, smut, anal play, anal fingering, ass eating, anal sex, spanking, submissive Steve, dominant Reader, and NSFW.
~*~
Thereâs many things that you can say about Steve Harrington. He has great hair, he has a constellation of beauty marks that even dot into his ears, his cock is the unidentified monster of Hawkins, his hands can be used as a human shield, he fights for his friends until the death, heâs loyal, heâs sweet, heâs smart, heâs beautiful, he kisses as if itâs his last day on earth⌠You can go on, really.
But then⌠there is also a rather, specific trait about him thatâs undeniable. A physical presence that has turned heads of even claimed straight men. It doesnât matter what he wears, whether itâs swimming trunks, sleep pants, sweats, or those sinful little Leviâs that belong in a museum â it is always on display, front and center. There is no getting past it, zero capabilities to deny it. Steve Harrington has a fat ass.
A perky, shapely, cheekily cut, juicy, bite-able, fuck-able, slap-able â deliciously sinful⌠ass.
You didnât start out as his girlfriend, no. Just his best-friend, one that had agreed to benefits, before things became too vulnerable to ignore. And the more open emotions were, the more open things in the bedroom became. Steve was only alright trying new things with you, and the opportunity wasnât wasted. So youâd showed him with a very targeted rental from the store, assuring that youâd checked in out by yourself under a fake name.
The woman had been taking her scene partner in several stages. First with her hands on his ass, slapping until it reddened, almost resembling a blossoming bruise. Secondly, prepping him with a finger. Thirdly, her face had been buried between his sore cheeks. And the finale, you had to help Steve take off his jeans, pulling his cock out for him as she accustomed to the harness, taking him in wild ways that Steve had taken you.
âDo you like what sheâs doing to him?â You spoke into his ear, kissing at that one freckle inside, your fingers wrapping around his cock, thumb stroking off the pre from the head.
âYeahâŚâ his voice was choked, so low and raspy that it sounded as if his vocal cords had been drenched with molten lava. âWhat does it feel like?â
He couldnât take his eyes off the screen, hues of blue and orange from the television set reflecting off his blown pupils.
âYou want me to do it to you, Steve? Guys have a spot, just like girls do.â
âYou mean my prostate, right? I know itâs a place⌠inside me⌠there. Is that it?â
You brushed his hair off his already slicked forehead. âThatâs right, baby. Right in between your legs, buried deep inside of that tight, unused hole.â
He trembled impossibly, and that is when things got started.
~*~
Steve loves spankings when heâs over work and just needs to unwind. How your hands can make it hard for him to sit, to focus on anything that isnât you. The way you grab him, pull him apart to observe like heâs on display over your lap.
Steve adores when you just grab him after a shower, through his towel or jeans, giving his ass a little lift or smack. Just staking your claim, feeling him up.
Steve will admit to calling you up several times a day, just so he can ride your fingers in the bathroom or stock room at work, addicted to watching his cock kick and drain all over the floor. Heâs already been able to touch himself, but it still isnât the same as you.
Steve isnât able to process what happens when you split him open and bury your face in his backside, not permitting him to touch himself (unless you feel giving). You eat him the way that he eats your cunt â animalistic, with one goal. Letting him fuck his opening onto your tongue.
Steve can attest to his eyes crossing several times, upon seeing you in your harness, the shivering trepidation as he props his head on his bicep and strokes himself off at the sight off your dripping pussy as you adjust to the toy. Heâll help you step in on occasion. And the many positions. Depending on what the other needs, you will take him on his side, in front of a mirror so he can see how perfectly beautiful that he is, soft on his back for closeness as you go chest to chest, deeply on his stomach with a taught arch and sweet little pleas from his gifted little mouth, hard from behind, hand on his hair (sometimes in public, even at work. you have become addicted to watching him squirm after, knowing heâs gonna fuck you that much harder for getting him in that state), legs on your shoulders or around your waist, him riding you against the headboard or whatever surface you can find (even in his car), bouncing on top of you and riding you, his hands on your tits for purchase, cock leaking all over your stomach, balls wet with the arousal that has leaked across your thighs â any and everything that you can think of.
Itâs safe to say, youâre in love with Steve Harringtonâs ass. And will forever worship, remaining eternally faithful to its perfection.

okay yâall. spencer reid fans buckle up, cause i have some thoughts. i wanna talk about post-prison era reid. we all love him, but i've been having some major thoughts about it. one of the main things about post-prison era reid, is that he masks so heavily, and none of his autistic traits are shown anymore. now i'm all for trauma making a character mask more, but cm didn't really view it like that, and i dont like that. another thing about post-prison reid is that he no longer gives any fucks and will fuck you up. i love this, because it personally feels like, after years of being ridiculed for his autism and how it affects him, he fights back against it. you can try and ridicule him, but he's gonna put up a fight, and you're not gonna win. a lot of people like post-prison era reid because of his hair- which is completely valid,, fluffy haired reid is amazing. but i feel like we as a fandom are not talking about the drastic changes in his character enough. yes! post-prison reid is awesome! but let's talk about why. how he went through trauma and it changed him fundamentally. how he masks so much he's almost unidentifiable. everything that made reid him before, doesn't anymore, and reid has to figure out who he is without that. he has to figure out IF there is a him without it.
in conclusion: post-prison era reid is so so interesting, and we as a fandom don't go into WHY post-prison reid is, if not the best, one of the best, eras of reid enough.

Whoop I finished my reverse Damsel idea. I briefly discussed her in two other posts but Iâm going to go further into her here with a better grasp on what sheâs about
Pretty long ramble below, so watch out.
Basically, instead of warning her/resisting the Narrator in chapter 1, you, thinking you canât overpower him, attempt to slay yourself. The Princesses stares at you in horror as you cut into your own neck (this is the route where you donât initially bring the knife so sheâs the more sympathetic version).
She attempts to wrench the blade from you because she has no idea why youâre doing this and doesnât want you to die. Whether or not she gets the knife though doesnât matter, because itâs too late and you die.
(Still am stuck on what sort of voice I want. Had a lot of suggestions on stuff like a Martyr sort of voice or one similar to the old Meek voice but the problem mostly stems from characterizing them in a different way to the other voices, which is something I canât figure out given the situation).
Chapter 2 is titled âThe Faeâ.
The main room is primarily made of stone, with many unidentifiable chiseled metals and rock, but you donât stay here for long, nor get given the option of taking the blade, as choosing to approach the blade or the basement will activate a trapdoor that will send you falling to your death. Just as youâre about to meet your demise, something grabs your palm. Looking up, you see the princess, swinging from the ceiling with you in hand.
The Fae is strange, originally she was going to be similarly shallow in nature like the Damsel, but I would compare her uncanniness more to the Razor, with a constant smile, eerie stare, and maybe an off putting voice.
Sheâs pretty blunt on what she wants, the satisfaction of saving you from this awful cabin and leaving together! Despite her more than ginger attitude towards you (she acts like you are made of glass), sheâs actually quite egotistical, with her occasionally praising herself and puffing up whenever she receives applause from you.
She makes unintentional jabs at your incompetency and reminds you âitâs not your fault youâre not cut out for this, really! Iâll get us out of here my handsome corvid!â and sort of talks down to you and always acts like sheâs the smartest in the room (and she probably is depending on what voice I make up for the route). Sheâs also weirdly fixated on your safety and goes above and beyond to protect you from even the smallest splinter, sheâd act like you were dying if you got so much as a scratch.
(All of her traits are exacerbated to a worse degree in chapter 3).
Edit: I forgot to mention all of her behavior is inspired by the fae. I forgot that some people arenât as well versed in fae lore. Fae are, from what I have heard, pretty selfish, manipulative, and possessive all while being downright ethereal, so I gave her a dose of all of those traits and toned it down a smidge.
Her appearance is also meant to be slightly unnerving. She has long elf like ears and eyes that are surrounded by shadow, with large black pits in the center of her eye that are impossible to tell if they are part of her pupil or not. She also gives off a very faint, white light, itâs almost imperceptible but itâs there.
Her dress is more of a skirt than anything with a sash that has long ribbon like ends that are every length all at once at any given time. They easily wrap themselves around objects even if it shouldnât be physically possible, and she uses them to swing from the ceiling (spider princesses). Her âcrownâ is made up of a few translucent butterflies that seem attracted to her like magnets, occasionally they flutter about but usually they sit on her head.
I like to think that there are hints to the fact her butterflies arenât real, just extensions of herself. They might flicker in and out of existence if sheâs upset with you or stressed about something.
Another thing of note, like with some other princesses like Nightmare or Thorn or something, she has no chain. (Maybe thereâs some creepy dialogue option where she reveals she broke it with her teeth or something more crazy).
Anyway, the princesses states that everything is fine and that this time around sheâs going to be the one to rescue you. She fully intends for both of you to escape, and for you to just follow her lead, because sheâs going to make sure youâre alright and that nothing will hurt you.
If you follow along she will save you from the dangers ahead, the basement of the cabin has been increased in size and there are rooms with rolling boulders, pits of spikes, etc. These sections arenât too long, thereâs probably like five explore options along with two or three choices you can make per room and thereâs only like three of said rooms.
At the end she literally carries you out of the cabin and swings you around all like âWe did it! Iâm out and youâre safe! Not even a scratch on you, didnât I do a good job?â Before mentioning how cold it is and getting taken to Ohio by the Shifting Mound.
There is another way this can end however. There are two potential ways to get to this I think.
If you keep questioning her when shes says somethingâs wrong at some point you get killed by some random trap while youâre distracted. You get killed and probably end up with the Skeptic.
If you donât let her do the work and instead try to do too many things yourself you also eventually get killed by a trap and probably end up with Stubborn or Contrarian depending on your actions.
There might be a different third chapter that you can get to from another princess but idk what it would be so Iâm sticking with the more direct continuation chapter.
You still donât get the knife here and fall through another trapdoor. This time she doesnât catch you and instead has already prepared something beneath where you fall to catch you. Itâs probably just a plush room, somewhat reminiscent of the Stranger routeâs soft stairs, but less existentially horrifying.
Here the princess thinks that maybe leaving the cabin with her is why you keep dying and so tries to convince you staying is the only option and that something bigger is trying to kill you off when you try to leave with her (sheâs not wrong that thereâs something bigger at play but she isnât exactly right either). Sheâs too selfish to just let you leave without her even if her weird logic states that youâd be fine as long as she doesnât leave with you, so all protests are shut down and she tries to force you if you complain.
If you got Skeptic there is the option of actually convincing her and that no matter what youâll listen to her every word and youâll escape together. Sheâll listen and similar events to last time will play out, only this time the traps are deadlier but are made much more traversable due to the fact that she gives no fucks and will destroy every obstacle with ease. This time you actually leave and once again Ohio comes and gets her (I like to imagine The Narrator pulls the locked basement door trick and here she just punches through it and stares expectantly at you to turn handle from the other side with the newly created hole).
If you have Stubborn you can attempt to fight her. It probably wonât work at first because sheâs the literal fae. But the Narrator, knowing youâre trying to fight now, will make the blade magically fall from the same trapdoor you fell from. And its iron touch can sizzle faerie skin. She doesnât necessarily want to fight you, but if she has to rough you up some to get you to see things her way, sheâll do it. If you fuck up youâll probably break something that you need to move or attack with and lose the fight, and she gets taken. If you donât fuck up and win, same result except sheâs got a knife in her chest when the mound comes and nabs her.
With Contrarian you choose to stay with her because funny boy wants to mess with the Narrator. I think maybe one of the traps somehow ends up infiltrating whatever âsafe roomâ youâre in (probably because youâre thoughts spiraling on the thought of not actually being safe and dying again because thatâs all youâve done so far, so your perception kills you. Not sure what trap would kill you, maybe the rolling boulder crashes through the roof or something idk) and ends up fatally wounding you, making it the third time she couldnât protect you, she stands over your body because âI had this planned, you shouldâve been safe, how could this happen???â Before Ohio comes.
Whatever ending you get, she will make for a courageous heart.
I like to think you can kill her with Contrarian and get stuck with her with Stubborn, itâs just that theyâd prefer and encourage you to do the opposite. The Skeptic is the only one where you can actually try to leave with her, again you can do the other options but having him is the only path where you can try to escape in the 3rd chapter.
I do have a 3rd chapter design in mind, but Iâll probably need to work on it some.

Some more IaMD lore or relationship status.
All survivors have known about the missing person cases.
Guest 1337 knows a lot as he was deployed to raid one of the locations that was suspected to have some of the people, pre-forsaken wise. He is also the first to learn about what happened to the people through Nanda post forsakened. He is the only person to have the key to killing Mafi. (Nanda's Journal)
Elliot has seen all the missing posters (including C00lkid's poster). He is also the only person who will handle 007n7 if he starts overheating.
Shedletsky is absolutely disgusted by the fact that something is using his image for horrific crimes (Mafi took some of his features to approaching people easier)
Builderman wishes to fill Mafi with lead and crush her with the ban hammer.
007n7 makes himself useful and has saved the other survivors. He's also used his overheating issue to practically burn the skin of the killers (they can tell whenever he's overheating and tend to avoid him till he's cooled off)
Taph has destroyed one of the houses that Mafi used for killing targets. They personally would love to shove a subspace mine down her throat.
Dusekkar has worries for everyone who was affected by Mafi and the other killers.
TwoTime has shanked Mafi and had his head bitten off during an lms against her. He also tries to comfort the others. And he prays to spawn to punish this monster.
Chance is horrified by getting his identity stolen by Mafi (shape-shifting) one round. He's the only person who wittnessed her shifting. (Totally won't come back to bite his ass)
Noob... has seen shit.. they tend to stay locked in their room because of it.
Mafi physical attributes/biological traits: (trying not to describe this weirdly when writing character descriptions be cautious when reading, feel free to suggest grammar edits. Otherwise, I'll spray you with holy water)
Mafi doesn't actually have clothes except for her fedora. Any clothes on her are from shifting so she can feel everything while in her mafia boss form. (She's not naked. Think of fur on an animal. Or snake skin.)
She walks on all fours naturally, but to blend in with the killers, she walks on her hind legs.
She's capable of going to the dreamscape (dream game) along with her folk.
If she doesn't eat, she slowly dips into a more Feral state. When that happens, her folk go out and get her something to eat.
She's an unidentified species. (Not even I know, lmao)
