I was thinking about how we’re all treating 2025 like it’s a magic spell, like flipping the calendar will fix everything. It reminded me of an old story about a farmer on the border between Russia and Poland. For years he didn’t know which country his land belonged to and when he finally found out it was Poland he celebrated no more brutal Russian winters. But the winters didn’t care about borders. The snow kept coming same as always and it’s the same with a new year. My family in Gaza doesn’t get a break just because the calendar changes. The hardships continue and so does the unbearable weight of not knowing. Two of my cousins were taken by the IDF a week ago, and we still don’t know where they are. Not knowing is unbearable. But even in the toughest winters people like you bring light. Every donation, every share of our story, every kind word has made the impossible feel possible. Because of you we’ve survived. Iman Al-Anqar is just 6 years old, suffering from osteoporosis that makes it difficult for her to walk. She is in desperate need of a brace for her foot. During a genocide like this, where people are internally displaced again and again and again, the ability to move is the difference between life and death. In addition, the bitter cold and lack of nutritious food increases Iman’s chances of a bone fracture. This is not something that the Al-Anqars, nor the struggling hospitals in Gaza, can afford right now.

The Al-Anqars are nearly at the 50% mark of their €20,000 goal. The Palestinians and their allies are in a perilous position: ceasefire talks are said to be progressing, but Trump’s imminent presidency puts all of this on a timer. This is not to say that a ceasefire won’t/can’t happen under Trump, but we know his position on Gaza, and for everyone’s safety, it is best we treat Jan 20th like a deadline for now.

Nabil Al-Anqar worked his entire life to provide for his family; his beloved wife Fatima; his four children, Mohamed, Ahed, Ghada, and Khaled; and his grandchildren, Lama, Amir, Fatima, Noor, Eman, and Nabil. He owned an aluminum workshop before the war. It took him many years to save up for an apartment for his family, but at the age of 61, he finally did it: a beautiful apartment on the top floor. It was a physical testament to his hard work, and his youngest son Khaled was to be married here.

A month later, his dreams were destroyed by IDF bombs.

Nabil’s family was forced to evacuate several times. Instead of the new apartment, the Al-Anqars now are seeking refuge in a partially-developed UNRWA school that receives no aid. The windows, still not fully installed or broken entirely, have blankets stretched across the frames in an attempt to keep the cold out. Sewage spills out onto the streets. Bombs kill dozens in refugee tent camps not half a kilometer away.

Nabil has no way to support his family right now other than this GoFundMe campaign. The price of flour has risen to 150-200€ a bag. Nabil’s grandchildren, some as young as 1 year old, lack shoes and winter clothing to protect themselves from the chill.

As ceasefire talks intensify, so has the Israeli bombardment of Gaza. This week and a half we have before Trump takes office is CRUCIAL. Whether a ceasefire is reached before his inauguration or not, we need to be supporting both community efforts on the ground, as well as campaigns like this, where your money is going to support 14 people (Nabil and his wife, his four children, six grandchildren, and his two daughter-in-laws).

In the last year, I've become disabled with a joint condition that leaves me unable to walk long distances. Thankfully, I had the privilege of being given a wheelchair for free that I can use when I need it. I can't imagine how I would be living now without it.

So I can't imagine how it feels for my friend @ghadaanqar and their family to go without a needed disability aide for their little girl, Iman. Iman has osteoporosis and desperately needs braces for her legs to be able to walk and function. In an already very difficult and scary situation, it pains me to know a girl that young cannot move the way her peers can.

I have been speaking to Ghada in DMs and they have been very sweet and kind. Their story speaks to me especially as somebody who has also struggled to afford medical care for a complex disability like this. If you have even a dollar to spare, please consider giving it to this family. Everyone deserves dignity and the ability to care for themselves and their disability!

Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying your holidays, wherever you are! I am making this post on behalf of Ghada Al-Anqar, whose family is currently in Gaza. Along with her father Nabil and mother Fatima, and her brothers Khaled, Mohamed, and Abed, there are six young children who are starving, shivering, and in need of your help: Fatima, Noor, Nabil, Eman, Lama, and Amir. Right now, the Al-Anqar family, along with many others in Gaza, are forced to take shelter in a school. They can hear the bombs every night, wondering if they will come closer as they sleep. This school does not receive aid; the windows are covered with blankets, but the cold seeps through the concrete.

Palestinians on Tumblr are tired. Not only is struggling to survive in Gaza exhausting, not only do they have to face frequent bombings and attacks, but they also have to deal with harassments from zionists and racists when they raise the funds to save their family on Tumblr.

Hashem (@hashembadr) in particular has been shadowbanned again after zionists harassed him on his new account. It is his 9th account and he has only created it 3 days ago, and he hadn't even used it to message people or send asks!

Imagine how Hashem must feel! He is responsible for 26 people, including 13 children. His young niece is injured and in need of surgery, yet they do not have the money to afford it and he has to watch her suffer in pain. There are bombs falling all around him, attacks have been relentless. And here on Tumblr, as he is trying to fundraise so that his family may survive, zionists and racists keep attacking him, telling him that he and his family should die just because they are palestinians!

They are just trying to survive!! That really shouldn't be too much to ask for!! Hashem is losing hope after seeing his account being shadowbanned again, after seeing these racists comments, after seeing people block him again and again because they find him annoying for trying to survive and save his family! He has been fundraising since March now but he has only raised a little over 5k! Hashem and his family are facing horrors we cannot even begin to comprehend, can we just give them more support? For Khaled Al-Anqar, there is only one answer: survive a genocide. Before the war, Khaled, 23, had just graduated with his Bachelor’s in Accounting, and was planning to get married and study abroad.

I am Sahar, a Palestinian from Gaza.

After I lived a beautiful life and my rosy dreams that I had always dreamed of and waited for came true, by marrying my life partner and moving to our house, which we continued to work day and night until we built it stone by stone, where we only stayed for a few days until we found ourselves on the side of the road, fleeing in order to save ourselves. And our family.

Whoever knows us knows that we are chaste and do not ask for help from anyone throughout our lives. Each of us had his work and his financial income, and these are our pictures while we were at the head of our work, my husband and I.

Now something has happened that we did not wish for, and these dire circumstances have forced us to seek help in order to provide the necessities of life after we spent all the money we saved trying to secure food and shelter. We are now homeless after our house was completely destroyed by the Israeli occupation.

last night i was on the phone with my 74 year old mother in gaza trying to explain how tumblr is helping us stay alive and she cuts me off frustrated “tumblr? what even is that? how are these people with strange names and pictures gonna help when we don’t have bread? the children are hungry. this is genocide.” so i said mama these people are real they’re donating so we can survive and she scoffed “show me one of them actually helping” so i opened tumblr and read a message “mama a friend sent us $20 yesterday that’s how we bought two loaves of bread yesterday and another one shared our story with their friends” silence then she sighed “well god bless them even if their names and pictures are ridiculous” then she goes “thank you to everyone out there you’re the reason we’re still alive and please continue donating and sharing! your support truly makes a difference”.
