Subaru Leone 4WD 1.8 Touring Wagon, 1982. The second generation Leone offered dual-range 4-speed 4WD transmission and manual ride height adjustment. It was Japan's first all-wheel-drive vehicle with the option of automatic transmission. This used the world's first "wet hydraulic multi-plate clutch" that allowed the driver to engage 4WD with the push of a button. The electric switch activated a solenoid that pushed the clutch plates together, engaging the driveshaft to the rear wheels.
