I just find it very interesting that all the labour classed as lesser (most often seen as "women's labour") becomes indispensable in moments of crisis. It's just interesting to see how quickly people turn to that labour and then discard it in moments of peace or prosperity, devaluing it until another crisis hits.

It breaks my heart but feels a little too real.

okay list of reasons why Big Mama's Assistant might wear makeup (as per her comic design) because I do genuinely think that would be interesting to explore:

She does it because she works primarily in a business environment, and it's considered "more professional" to have makeup on and/or "unprofessional" to not wear it, similar to real life. (This implies that she spends a significant amount of time working without her mask on.)

She does it because Big Mama wears makeup in her human form, and has developed an association between "being powerful and taken seriously" and wearing makeup (conscious or subconscious).

She personally enjoys wearing makeup.

As a subpoint of the above, it would actually be hilarious if her markings were actually really intense eye makeup. No, she doesn't look like that naturally she painted it on. She regularly switches up the pattern and color.

If this is a scenario where she usually wears the mask, it trips people up whenever they see her without it because she almost always has different markings. Many people are convinced that it's different people in the same uniform.

She isn't actually allowed to wear makeup, but since her face is hidden by her mask most of the time, she wears it as a form of silent rebellion. (This might work with my version of her ngl.)

There's plenty more reasons why she might wear it, these were just kinda off the top of my head.

OK, so this is how fucked up fandom can be.

Someone at a Genshin Impact event disliked that a ship that placed their fave top as a bottom, got a 'special zone' booth (or was able to claim their booth was special zone in their marketing), so they reported it to the government using homophobic rhetoric to claim it's 'corrupting and misleading the youth'. This forced the organizers to remove all CP art and content from the festival, which caused a massive shitshow among fans.

Top/bottom wankery at its worst.

People who dislike how other people are enjoying fandom, enough to blow up fandom for everyone, seriously, get fucked.

And as someone pointed out in the comments, this isn't just a China problem. If people in North America were given the ability to do the same to fandoms they hate, they absolutely would.

did we all collectively forget that vampires not being able to see their reflection because old mirrors were backed with silver is a tumblr creation that has no basis in any classical texts or?

because the reason vampires cant see their reflections (in classic texts) is because mirrors were considered reflections of the soul, and vampires are soulless, which means regardless of what the reflective surface is, they cannot cast an image.

i'm not a snob, i love modern vampires as much as classic vampires, but please remember that classic vampires are soulless monsters, not misunderstood sadboys of the 00s>.
