One thing about the anger directed at AI from other artists right now is that what I'm alarmed and frustrated by is not the legitimate concerns of the usual corporate hellscape issues the tech industry created with it. It's not the concerns over theft and plagiarism (although I think there is misinfo about some aspects of this and a lot of intense reactionary shit. Even so, it's okay and normal to feel alarm and concern and want to discuss protective/ethical measures). And it's certainly not people fighting and advocating for worker's rights.
No. What's bothering me is the weird borderline elitist shit being the loudest voice in artistic/fandom spaces. It's "I worked so hard and suffered so much and now because people can ask a machine to make stuff, it's ruined my special identity." It's "people who make anything at all with AI will never be real artists like I am, and that's why we should ostracize them all, deny them legal protections, gatekeep all our spaces, etc." It's "everyone who uses AI for any reason is uncreative, a liar and a thief." It's "only people who endured my definition of hard work are real artists." It's "art can only be made by certain people under certain parameters that I dictate as legitimate." It's the insinuation that the bad shit that AI did to our jobs should be happening to everyone else but artists. It's the way I'm for some reason seeing fanfic writers, the queens of 'taking inspiration,' literally pull arguments from Anne Rice's famous hits.
I didn't know that my understanding of art was so different from so many people. And I think that's part of what is bothering me so much about this.
Like, listen. I put in the hard work. I have taught myself for decades. I have taught other people for a living. I have struggled, and shared my work to the world, and known what it was like to try and fail to make financial successes happen. I have known what it feels like to have others take 'heavy inspiration' from my hard work. I have known what it feels like to project that kind of "they're copying me!" anxiety and self-protectiveness unfairly onto others who did not deserve it.
But the way some of us have been behaving, the vicious pettiness, the fearmongering, the misinformation, the sheer anger directed at folks who are *not* shady corporate tech bros. It's ugly.
Art is not just all the hard work we put into being ~special~, or the endless struggling to get paid for it, or even the fucking attention. And if your voice in the conversation is just "weh all those ~less creative~ people might use this to make better looking, more financially successful art then me, when I should be the one rewarded with attention because I worked so hard!" Well. Welcome to having your work automated like everybody else ~less creative~ than you already has. Can we get back to just...enjoying ourselves making art for each other? Sharing the experience of creativity? Teaching one and other? Communicating deeper ideas about the human condition? Because nothing about AI is actually interfering with those things for me. AI hasn't taken my hands or my mind or my voice (not even if it manages to actually plagiarize my public work), but late stage capitalism has taken all my time and my energy and my money. AI's not ever stopping me from making art. People who play with it and make things are not interfering with my capacity to create, they are not actually harming me at all by playing in my sandbox. The mere presence of it will not crush the human drive to create (it might even open new doors). But the daily grind of exploitative american labor sure will. AI might take away what would be an already shitty, soulless, exploitative job that drains me creatively, but uh...that's the system I was already living in. The issue of workers rights is much bigger than just automation.
AI alone won't take anything away from you but a shitty job you would probably hate anyway, but billionaires sure will find ways to take away all your time and energy and financial security to be creative. And whether AI is a fad or is here to stay, unless we advocate for our rights politically, unless we hold politicians and corporations accountable, that will not change.

Inktober/day 1 - Backpack//Hellraiser
So here we go!
Meet main character of my this years Inktober - Captain Spencer (or Hell priest, lead cenobite or Pinhead for you non fans) and I am going to try to make everything about him or his more familiar alter ego.
I have not looked at the prompts, so I do them as they come and see if and what our captain (or priest) is going to do.
Relatively simple sketchy 'warm up' for a starter. Captain and his stash. most time they used simple looking bags during WW1. So, no fancy backpack for the captain - artillery didn't allow much fancy. When we go only by films, then likely WW1 (in particular one of the battles in Flanders) was one of the main reasons he became so messed up that he sought the cube so he could feel something again. Anything.
Now what will he 'discover' tomorrow (I did peek!)? if you know Hellraiser, you can 99.99% guess what tomorrows image will be!

Gonna rewatch every Candyman movie today and tomorrow Idk what franchise I'll rewatch.., I already did a Hellraiser one months ago as well as a Terrifier one... Hmmm... Nightmare on Elm's Street and Child's Play are out...
I think I've rewatched almost every franchise there is. Friday the 13th, Halloween... Ugh. I'm upset at myself, lol.
Might move to foreign franchises then... I know I binged One Last Call, Ringu, Ju-On, I haven't binged on Tag-Along and I heard of a new Train to Busan but the first movie made me cry so my sensitive ass can't handle familial love in movies.
I can only handle gore and blood. No sad shit.
Or... I could go to some really freaking old franchises... Shit like The Wishmaster or Scarecrow, or I can go for Children of the Corn or just any short movie collection based on King's short stories, like Night Flyer, Graveyard Shift and so on...

Content: Apex of Filth to the End of Act 3, with one missed encounter
I got my long play session!
Though I possibly played for too long. I had a heck of a time trying to figure out one of the encounters in Act 3 and still haven't. I'll try again tomorrow.
As the title suggests, I had a moment tonight where I said, “Well that happened.” And I also had several other moments where I thought or said something along those lines. Some of them were good, some of them not so much. I've put a spoiler tag in the title, because I don't think I can talk about tonight without spoiling the end of Act 3.
What's Working For Me:
Again, on the whole, tonight was awesome! There was so much good at the end of this Act! It was also probably my buggiest night of playing, but we'll save that for the last section.
I guess I'll go area by area.
Apex of Filth: Wow this zone is just wonderfully disgusting! Yet another where the sound design is really on point. The carved entries you find, combined with a mushroom quest, also put a smile on my face. But my favorite part is how both my Titan and Oswald never want to even think about the Queen of Filth ever again.
Temple of Kopec: One of the previewed areas, this zone is definitely cool as is it's boss. It just got a little overshadowed. Interesting considering the mechanic in this area.
Utzaal: While this area is huge and I got a little annoyed later on while I was trying to solve my missing encounter, I still love it. Like the Faridun before them, the Vaal fight with mixed units here and it feels like they use intelligent tactics. The enemy variety and the way they worked together made this zone an absolute joy. Even when I was getting frustrated as I tried to figure out what to do with the Idols, I was still enjoying the combat. Viper Napuatzi was a fun and dynamic fight. And the twist at the end has me more interested in the story now.
Aggorat: Another zone with fantastic combat. The sudden change of scenery from the beautiful petal covered temple to a blood covered charnel house was brilliant. The new enemies that came with it also kept things interesting.
The Black Chambers: And now we come to it. The highlight of the evening! I don't know what mad lads you had dreaming up and cobbling together this nightmare fest, but well done! I caught shades of Hellraiser, 40K, Event Horizon . . . This was just an absolutely crazy zone and it had me pausing to gawk several times throughout. And the boss fight with Doryani was fantastic! I can't decide if I enjoyed his or Geonore's fight more.
What I'm Struggling With:
Let's talk about two mysteries I encountered, one I only just now solved while double checking things for this log.
The first are two mysterious statues in the Molten Vault. I don't know if these are place holders or have content not in the game, or if I'm just really missing something. But it looks a lot like you should be able to do something with them, there seems to be more zone across the way from them, and they have checkpoints next to them. They look almost like you should be able to put a soul core inside them, but there isn't a soul core in sight. I went near crazy trying to figure these things out. Thank you for the new checkpoint system, as it helped a lot in this. But not only could I not find or figure anything out for these, they created a red herring for the second encounter that had me stumped.
Those stupid idols! They just sat there clogging up my inventory for most of the night. I picked up the first one, and my character said, “I should show these to Oswald.” So I go talk to Oswald. Nothing. No quest marker, no dialogue, no indication of what I should do or where I should go next. The text on the bottom of the idols seem almost to be a riddle suggesting I'd be using them in an ancient ruin. I tried them back in the Molten Vault, the Venom Crypts, the treasure rooms in the drowned city . . . And of course nothing I did worked, because you seem to only be able to sell them to Oswald. I'd really appreciate some clarity here.
It was also at this point I noticed the catch to the checkpoint system. You can quickly move from checkpoint to checkpoint, but only while the instance is active. The second it resets or you start a new instance your checkpoints go away. I know why you're doing this, since the system could be abused for boss rushing. But discovering I'd lost my checkpoints in Utzaal again and had to travel through the zone again added a further point of frustration.
Finally, let's talk about the time travel. Sorry, I'm a science fiction nerd. The presence of time travel made it feel like a bunch of things in the story just stopped working. With Incursion it seemed fine because we know that Atzoatl was completely lost. So anything we do shouldn't affect anything except the layout of the temple. But this just created a rabbit hole of questions that I'm almost certain will never be satisfied.
I do get a kick out of Oswald basically saying, “Yeah don't think about it too hard.” I do like that there's a hint at the end of the Viper fight that there are definitely unforeseen consequences. And the stuff with Doryani is fantastic! I love how he mistakes us for the same exile that traveled with Alva's power to Atzoatl and killed the various architects there. And the fact we're now traveling with one of the most notorious villains of the setting, right after traveling with blatant butchers and slavers, is continuing to emphasize the fact that we're not necessarily the good guys here. I love Servi's reaction to everything too. As a general rule, when a character in Path of Exile is done with your nonsense, they're probably right to be.
Finally, I would really like to play Boneshatter as a reliable skill for clearing enemies. I've gone through the majority of the game up to now using it this way. The only hiccups were when enemy evasion start making me miss my hits. But now I have a new problem. If I freeze an enemy with my Boneshatter, I appear to only shatter it and not get a shockwave. I don't know if this is a bug or intentional. But it's frustrating that I have to find a new weapon again, or I'll lose access to my favorite skill.
What's Not Working:
This is probably my most bug filled night of Early Access so far. Again, I've either reported or confirmed everything I found. But it's clear Act 3 needs some real polish. Nothing broke my game, but there were definitely a lot of issues that soured the experience some.
I also think there needs to be better fast travel options once you open the portal. There should be some way to select waypoints from one time period or the other. And your town portal should take you to the Ziggurat Encampment. Please improve the QOL here.
Another QOL note, I'd like to see stash tab Affinity for trials. It would be nice to be able to quickly and easily store them in one place, especially on controller.
I think that's it for now! I'm ready for Cruel and I've already seen that this is going to be more than just monster scaling. I can't wait to see all you've cooked up!

Enjoyed a bit of light reading before The Binge.
Tumblr media
Today marks my second read of this slim little volume. The first was ravenously devoured in one sitting, whereas today's read was a delightful book-end for work: read through the first have before; and completed the second after.
The conversation surrounding the book is minimal, on account of the far more well-known film adaptation. Though it does have a few interesting elements which were changed for the film. To me, the most interesting is simply the politeness of the Cenobites. Their appearance is sparce, though they are quite impactful. These creatures can be bargained with, and there's an added layer to their interaction with Frank, absent from the film: he is given the choice to reject them, and it's his greed and twisted desire that leads to his demise.
I'll not expand too much here, since tomorrow we will be watching the first movie, but I strongly encourage Hellraiser fans to give it a read. It's a bit like The Exorcist in a way, where I consider the book to be a worthy experience only if you like the movies, but want them longer; though, to be Frank (haha!), what do The Exorcist and Hellbound Heart have in common? Both novels' authors wrote the screenplays, which makes them reasonably flawless adaptations of story to screen.

September Sky Chapter Six, Part 11 (End of Chapter Six)
"You've never seen Hellraiser? Ok, well, we need to fix this. Now. It's a modern gothic classic. One of the best. And Kirsty is one of the, if not the best final girl in horror. Makes Jamie Lee Curtis run for her money."
"Wow. That's some seriously high praise."
"Trust me on this one," I said. She pressed play and sat the laptop on my stomach. I wasn't sure why right away, but then she laid her head on my chest, and brought her body as close to mine as she without actually crawling on top of me. There was no weight from her. She was like a feather.
"Can you reach the light?" She asked. I reached towards it and was just barely able to flick it off. The screen cast a glow on us. "Thank you." She said, readjusting her self and placing her hand below her head.
"No problem," I whispered back as the movie began.
I couldn't pay attention to it though. I couldn't move. I was scared to move. I couldn't believe where I had found myself tonight. I never expected this at all. I wasn't complaining.
That is up until the finale of the film, and I couldn't help myself but to spout Frank Cotton's final lines, "jeessuss weeptt huh" along with the movie. Addison giggled again, turning me to liquid. The movie wrapped up and the credits rolled.
"So what did you think?" I felt like a kid. Here I was presenting one of my all time favorite movies, and waiting for an opinion because I never trust my own.
"It was really good. Kirsty's a badass."
"You should see her in the sequel. She's even more of one. She goes to hell even." And just as I finished my sentence, Netflix suggested the sequel. It was after two in the morning.
"Did you want to watch the second?" Addison looked up at me, a sly look on her fae. I smiled like an idiot. I don't care what I have going on tomorrow. I want to stay in this spot for as long as I possibly can. It seemed by the glint of her eyes that I wasn't the only one not wanting this to end yet.
"If you want to?" I said in question.
"I think so." She laughed and clicked play, settling her head back on my chest. I wrapped my arm around her, holding her for the second time. It was just as wonderful as the first time. And I loved it. I was at peace. I was ok. This is where I was supposed to be, right now.
The movie played and every so often it would catch my attention for a few seconds. Most of the time, however, my attention kept being glued to the moments I was dealing with. Listening to Addison's breath, which I could hear over the sounds of a fight in Hell.
It was halfway through the movie when I noticed Addison's breaths become longer and slower. She had fallen asleep again. I smiled and just laid there, facing my own dilemma. Do I wake her up and go home, or do I let her sleep and just stay here. I knew what I wanted to do. I, of course, wanted to stay. I mean how could I not.
But, I felt like the moral thing to do, was to wake her up and make my way back home. I needed to take my meds anyway. At least that's what I kept telling myself as a reason to do something I truly hated to do.
"Hey, Addison. Wake up," I shook her softly, not even hearing the final act of the film.
Addison groaned, and pushed her face into my chest, grabbing my shirt. I couldn't help but let out a small and quiet laugh.
"Come on. It's late and I probably should be going." I whispered.
"No," she said sternly and somehow managed to tighen her grip on my shirt.
"I really should."
"No, stay."
I sighed, a mixture of happily and anxious.
"I don't have a choice in the matter, do I?" I asked, with a grin.
Addison shook her head.
"Fine. At least take off your glasses and move your laptop."
She grabbed her glasses and through them towards the closet. She grabbed the laptop and set it behind her and then came right back to her spot on my chest. I wrapped my arm around again and smiled.
The sun was coming up when I finally fell asleep. I had no dreams at all. Or at least none that I can remember.

Old Friends New Memories
Tumblr media
Summary: A chance meeting means you run into a very old friend and reconnect, but with you both having considerable emotional baggage, can you re-ignite what you had left burning all those years ago. A last minute Christmas Eve fic based on this post
Fandom: Henry Cavill, Hellraiser Hellworld
Pairing: Mike (Hellraiser) x Female Reader
Word count: 2565
Warnings: Angst, NSFW, 18+, Happy Ending. Talk of past abuse, gaslighting, male domestic violence survivor, gaslighting, drugs, drug addiction, rehab and therapy, impotence, therapy, mild references to assault, rebuilding relationships, mild sexual acts, nudity, oral sex (female recieving)
A/N: This is very much a ‘fix it’ fic to bring Mike’s character on from Hellraiser events, explaining that what happened in the movie was in fact a very bad drug fuelled trip. And somehow i am also writing angst again. But it has a happy ending.
I do not operate a tag list but if you follow @angryschnauzerwrites and put that blog onto notifications you’ll get an alert every time i post something new, plus be able to find all my past works. Everything can also be found on my AO3
Henry Cavill Masterlist
You had  run into the local school to collect your nephew up from soccer practice as your Sister was stuck at work. He came out of practice super excited by the new coach ‘Michael’, chatting all the way back home about how awesome he was. It was only when you were dropping your nephew off did he realise he’d left his backpack there. You offered to drive back and grab it as your sister had arrived home with takeout for their dinner.
The soccer pitch was empty when you got there but the gate still unlocked, so you started to search the bleachers for the bag before someone called out;
"Ma'am? Can i help you?"
Not looking up you answered;
"My nephew left his backpack…"
You stood and turned, the air being sucked from your lungs as a sudden blast from the past stood in front of you;
"Mikey…"
He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck;
"Yeah, its been a while…"
"Yeah…"
"The last time i saw you..." he trailed off
"Yup. Same bleachers, only then we were under them…"
He visibly blushed as the memory of that night came back;
"I should really take you out to dinner... to apologise…"
Laughing you nodded;
"That'd be nice. Though you'll let me finish before you do this time, yeah?"
Mikey grinned;
"I can assure you the 19 year old Mikey S i was is a million miles away from 30 year old Michael Syverson i am now"
“I’m glad to hear that”
“So, tomorrow night?”
“Sounds good”
You both faltered for a moment, bodies jerking slightly before you laughed and hugged. Enveloped in his arms you were surprised by a number of things; how familiar it seemed and yet how different. Mikey had always given the best hugs, probably due to how freaking long his arms were, but before it was like getting a hug from a barely padded fence post. Now however he was solid and huge. Your arms no longer fitted around his torso, there was a deep valley in the centre of his chest that you could rest your head in, he had filled out and you felt completely surrounded by his presence.
Reluctantly you eventually pulled apart, Mikey pulling his phone from his pocket;
“So, can i get your number?”
-
Mikey had invited you out for dinner the following night, Christmas Eve, and had picked you up at 7pm. You weren’t sure what you were expecting, perhaps a dive bar or a greasy diner, but he’d pulled his Toyota into the parking lot of a small family run Italian restaurant, one you’d been meaning to try but had never gotten around to. It turned out the meal had been fantastic, the dishes you’d picked laced with garlic and lemon, flavours hitting your taste buds like tiny fireworks. You’d chatted about old times, he’d been attentive and asked what you’d been up to since the end of high school which you happily filled him in on; college and onto animal care, working with kennels and pet parlours before last year you’d moved back to town to open your own pet salon.
When Mikey wasn’t asking you questions you found yourself getting distracted as you couldn’t help but to simply stare at him. He’d blossomed into a truly handsome man, gone was the boisterous teenager, instead what you found was a quiet and contemplative adult who considered his words. The same crooked smile was there, as was the expressive eyebrows, but there was something dulling the spark, you didn’t want to pry, but you hoped whatever it was was only temporary.
But throughout the whole meal the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, a comfortable aura between the two of you. When the check came you split it, there was no discussion or argument, and the drive back to your place was fun as you sang along to the radio playing Christmas songs. As he pulled onto your driveway you smiled and turned to him;
“Would you like to come in for a coffee?”
“A co…coffee?”
You took a deep breath;
“Whatever happens happens, i’m as nervous as you are, but i’d also really like to continue the evening with you. Plus you can meet Pandora and Doof”
“Pandora and Doof?”
“My cat and dog”
Laughing Mikey turned the key and killed the engine;
“Yes, i definitely want to meet Pandora and Doof”
Once you stepped in the door Pandora did what she did best, a quiet ‘miaow’ from the darkness, just her eyes visible in the low light;
“Oh you have a void!” Mikey laughed softly, before patting his thigh and your big black cat strolled from the living room into the hallway. Before you could say anything else a low growl came from the kitchen, and you turned and called out;
“Doof, its ok. He’s a friend”
You turned and grabbed a dog biscuit from the jar on top of the hallway shelves and handed it to Mikey;
“Give him a moment, he’s protective of me around men”
You slipped into the kitchen and turned the light on, and Mikey could hear you talking to your dog;
“Doof, you be nice to Mikey, he’s a good friend. Good. Nice person. All good. OK?”
“Woof”
A moment later you appeared in the doorway, holding the black labrador’s collar as you slowly walked along the hallway to where Mikey was still standing, before he crouched down and patted his leg;
“S’ok boy, i’m good”
Doof started to wag his tail as he approached, before he sat in front of Mikey and let out a quiet ‘woof’, to which Mikey handed him the dog biscuit;
“Can i pat your head Doof?”
“Rowwwwwww”
You watched as they bonded a little, before Doof sat on his foot and you smiled;
“Hey, i need to let Doof run around in the garden and do his business, did you want to have hot cocoa on the back porch?”
“Yeah sure, that’d be nice”
Ten minutes later you were both sat on chairs, watching as Doof did zoomies in the grass before randomly stopping to investigate scents. Sipping on the minty hot cocoa Mikey finally spoke;
“I got a question… well, a coupla’ questions…”
“Sure”
“You said we were both nervous. What are you nervous about, and how could you tell i was nervous?”
You took a deep breath;
“Full honesty, right? We’ve known each other too long for any lies or hiding things, right?”
“Right”
“What i’m nervous about is getting my heart broken again. And i don’t just mean that when i left for college and we parted ways, that hurt… god that hurt like hell, but i’ve had my heart broken time and time again since then. I’m nervous you haven’t changed, even though it seems like you have. I would rather reignite an old friendship than have a night together for the sake of old lovers” you paused; “Was that too honest?”
Mikey shook his head, staring down at his mug;
“No, its refreshing to hear…”
“And i can tell you’re nervous, you have the same tick you had when we were in grade school, you rub your thumb of your right hand on the back of your left hand. So…”
Mikey was silent, looking out into the darkness of the fields behind your property;
“I’m nervous… because i’m scared to try dating again”
“With me?”
“In general”
“What happened Mikey?”
He turned to look at you properly;
“Can you call me Mike?”
“Of course”
He took a deep breath;
“I’m divorced”
“Oh, i didn’t even know you’d married”
“It left me with some issues. Financial. Emotional. Physical and mental” he let out a low single laugh; “This is the first date i’ve been on in 5 years…”
“No way…”
“I just found it easier to not date. Too much to try and hide” he looked at you; “But with you… i feel i can be open and you won’t judge me”
“Of course i won’t” Just then Doof padded softly onto the porch, climbing onto your lap before settling his large body over your legs and his chin on the arm rest.
“She fucked me up. We met when i was 20, i was big into the party scene, bouncing from dead end job to dead end job, literally just partying away each weeks wage on drink and drugs. We ended up in Atlantic City and when we sobered up i found out we’d gotten married. After that she changed. I was young, she was older. The gaslighting started at that point, now i can see it for what it was, but then i thought it was simply the affect of the drugs. And when we were both high she got addicted to…” he trailed off, leaning back and pulling his shirt up. You could see the silvery scars across his torso; cigarette burns.
You sucked in a sharp breath, but stayed quiet, giving Mike the time he needed;
“The final straw was when she got her hands on a cocktail of drugs. I have no idea what was in it, LSD, Ketamine, Coke, jesus christ it was awful. She thought she’d killed me, so instead of calling the cops she buried me in a wooden box. I woke up24 hours later and had to claw myself out. Thankfully she was lazy, or high, and hadn’t covered the box with dirt. The EMT’s said that was what probably saved my life so i didn’t suffocate”
You stayed silent, tears welling and threatening to spill, before Doof quietly moved and got off your lap, crossing the distance between you and Mike and climbed onto his lap, settling his snout on his shoulder against his neck. There was a moment of quiet and calm as Mike closed his eyes and rubbed your dog’s back;
“Thanks Buddy” he cleared his throat; “So anyway… at that point i stepped away. My time in hospital helped me start to get clean. Through the rehab i found some free legal aid and after i managed to get a job the next step was a divorce. I moved back home and tried to get my life restarted. My Mom helped me go to community college, i flunked most of high school so i managed to get my diploma and then found i really enjoyed sports studies. That led to a job coaching soccer, to the point i now have a job at the high school. Assistant coach and i run private sports lessons like your nephew attends”
“Mike, i don’t know what to say. I’m so sorry you had to go through all that, but i’m glad you have found a path to carve out a way for yourself”
“Yeah, but it’s lonely. Anyone with any sense left town and got away to college, few ever returned. Those without any sense are now in jail or dead”
“And dating hasn’t…”
“That’s the emotional and mental part. Its hard to hold down a relationship when you can’t… ya’know… stay hard…”
You watched as he rubbed Doof’s ears, giving him time as you stayed silent.
“And yeah i went to therapy, i went to a doctor. My girlfriend at the time was understanding. But she was also desperate to be a Mom, and it wasn’t something i could do. The doctors confirm there’s nothing wrong with me physically, fuck, i can get hard by myself and wack one out, but the moment… well therapy helped but it didn’t help”
You both sat there in silence, before you finally cleared your throat;
“Stay the night”
Mike’s eyes snapped up to you;
“You heard what i just said, right?”
“Yes. And i’m not saying ‘fuck me’, i’m not saying ‘i can cure you with my magic pussy’. Just stay the night. I’ve missed you, more than you can imagine. Going off to college seemed like the greatest idea, but my dating life has been a disaster”
“It can’t be worse than mine…”
You smiled softly;
“This isn’t about who’s was worse, but there’s a reason why Doof doesn’t trust men in my house. I had to make a choice, and I chose Doof and moved back home. My wounds didn’t leave scars, but that doesn’t mean i don’t remember them. I started afresh”
Mike let out a slow breath;
“Sure, i’d love to stay” he looked out to the back yard and smiled; “Plus its started to snow. My Toyota will never get home in this”
Standing you held out your hand as you patted Doof’s behind;
“C’mon Doof, bedtime” the dog lazily stretched and slid off Mike’s lap, before you took Mike’s hand and pulled him up; “Bedtime for you too”
“Why do you call him Doof?”
At that moment the dog turned to look back just as he got to the screen door, walking straight into it;
“Because he’s a giant doofus”
-
As the daylight streamed into the room you opened one eye and was greeted by a pair of dark eyes and a wet nose;
“Hey Doof”
“Woof”
“Okay, lets let you out to go potty”
A groan sounded behind you;
“Nooooo”
Laughing you turned, and couldn’t help but to take in how gorgeous Mike was as he lay next to you, his hair messy and his stubble longer, but those bright blue eyes as welcoming as ever;
“Ok we need to teach Doof to unlock doors so he can take himself out for potty”
You laughed and playfully patted Mike’s side;
“Don’t worry, you need to get up too… we both have a garlic issue. There’s a spare toothbrush in the cabinet”
-
As you watched Doof scoot around in the snow you waited for the coffee machine to warm up, slowly letting the dark liquid drip through. A thick pair of arms circled your waist and a bristly kiss was pressed to your cheek;
“Has he peed yet?”
“Not yet. I’ll hook the screen door open and unlock the doggy door, he can let himself back in”
“Good”
Turning in Mike’s arms you pressed a soft kiss to his lips which he repeated seconds later, then again, before eventually you both deepened your connection as lips parted and his tongue danced delicately over your own. When the need for oxygen finally took over and you parted, he hooked his finger into the vneck of your tshirt, not so subtly peering in;
“C’mon, i may not be able to do stuff, but i can do other stuff, and i wanna see how those titties have grown”
“Oh…”
“And ya’know, taste that pussy”
As the pair of you made your way back to your bedroom you grinned;
“Oh that’s a thing now? I recall you not wanting to do that last time…”
“Yeah, i was the Doofus then”
On cue Mike turned and walked straight into the doorframe, thankfully not hard but enough to make him bounce off of it;
“Yeah, completely different now” you teased
With a grin he grabbed you and walked you backwards to the bed, pulling your t-shirt off and grinning when he saw your breasts;
“Perfect, excellent shape. 10 out of 10”
He slowly got to his knees as he pulled your panties down, never breaking eye contact before he pushed you back and set you softly on the bed;
“Now, let me give you a Christmas present”

goodesco + “are we locked in here?”
i'm so sorry these are so late!! they keep turning into around 1k word oneshots oops <3 hope that makes up for it!!
“Are we locked in here?” Bosco says, trying the handle again. It doesn’t budge.
“Apparently,” Gigi replies, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor, exasperated. She was having a rough day already, and now she’s stuck in a room with Bosco—not that she didn’t like Bosco or anything, it was quite the opposite. Bosco was tall and intimidatingly pretty with a quick wit and contagious laugh. Bosco was a wheezing laugh and long legs and pointed brows.
She's not prepared to be stuck in a room alone with them. Not today, not tomorrow, and probably not ever, at this rate. It doesn't help that the only thing going through her head is Oh God, I’m nervous to talk to her.
Bosco turns around, coming to sit next to her against the wall. She pulls out her phone, seemingly shooting off a text or two, then puts it down. “Okay, well, it looks like we’ll be in here a while, then. Hi, I’m Bosco,” she introduces.
“I know,” Gigi replies, before she can even stop herself. She cringes and hurries to correct herself, “I mean, I’ve seen you around! Sorry, that sounded weird.”
Bosco laughs. It’s a contagious sound, and Gigi finds herself giggling along with her, even if she’s laughing at herself. “I’ve definitely seen you around, but I never caught your name. What’s your name, baby?”
Gigi feels her stomach flip at the pet name, and she replies, “Gigi. Gigi Goode.”
“Pretty,” Bosco says, simply, “I like it.”
Gigi takes a moment to consider. Should I…?
“Thanks! Picked it out myself,” she grins, and it’s worth it for the way Bosco barks out a laugh. Bosco leans in every time they laugh, and Gigi decides that she wants nothing more than to make them laugh as much as possible for however long she has their attention.
“So did I! I don’t think you actually thought I was given the name Bosco, though,” they agree, a matching grin on their face.
“Maybe not. I like it, though.” She decides right then that she likes their smile just as much as she likes their laugh. It’s excited but there’s also something a bit shy about it, and it lights up her face beautifully.
Getting locked in a room with Bosco was doing nothing to help her get over her crush on the other girl.
“So, Gigi Goode,” Bosco starts, “tell me about yourself. Give me all the juicy details.”
“Um… I’m 24? And I live with my friend Crystal in an apartment a few blocks away. Oh god, what’s a juicy detail? I like horror movies but I always get scared?”
Bosco nods. She looks genuinely interested, but she’s worried that she’s going to bore her, so she tries to find a way to end her monologue gracefully. “And I do wigs and stuff. Like, for drag queens, mostly, but sometimes not.”
She winces. So much for an eloquent ending.
“What kind of horror movies? My favorite is Hellraiser, probably.”
“Nightmare on Elm Street. My last roommate’s dog was named Nancy after her, and I always called her Nancy Thompson when I'm mad at her, like when she pushed a jewelry box I bought for Crystal to the ground when I put it on a chair and it broke.” She stops for a second, coming back from her memory and blushing at her sudden inability to keep her mouth shut. “Sorry, that's super boring.”
“Don't apologize, it's cute,” she says, and Gigi's stomach swoops at the words, but she's not done. “Wait, you said Crystal… is there a chance that it’s Crystal Methyd?”
“Yeah, that’s right. How do you know Crystal?”
Bosco grins again, and if Gigi wasn’t so interested in how she knew her roommate she would’ve let herself soak up the moment. Maybe another time.
“That’s Daya’s half sister! My best friend, Daya Betty—”
“Oh my god, you know Daya?” she cuts her off, the joy of finding a shared connection making her lips pull up into a wide smile. Bosco’s echoing grin does nothing for the butterflies in her stomach.
“Yeah, she’s my best friend! I bully her all the time, I love her to pieces.”
So even after they got out of here, they might have a chance to talk to each other again. Gigi makes a note to ask Daya if she’s throwing a party soon—she suddenly feels like she shouldn’t have missed the last few.
“I love Daya! I’ve been around her a lot because of Crystal, and I’ve been to a few of her parties, which are always fun.”
Bosco perks up even more somehow. “You have? Which ones? I’ve been going a lot more recently, I’ve was super busy before but I quit one of my jobs so now I—”
She’s cut off by a knock at the door.
“You guys still in there?” A voice sounds through the door, and Bosco snaps up, hoisting herself to her feet and stepping closer to the door to reply.
“Yeah. You think you can bust us out?” Gigi doesn’t know the voice on the other side of the door. She curses it for being here to get them out, even if she knew it would happen eventually.
There’s sounds of a key being turned in the lock, and then the door opens to a person that Gigi thinks she’s seen around before, but she’s not sure. “Okay, here. Hi, Bosco, you’re out now and I gotta go. Jorgeous is waiting on me,” she says, bouncing on the balls of her feet, and then she’s off before either of them can say anything else. Bosco snorts, looking amused, and turns to Gigi.
“That was Jasmine. She’s just like that,” they explain, and Gigi nods.
“She has a lot of energy,” Gigi says, getting to her feet. She joins Bosco at the door, and she sighs to herself when she realizes that they’re poised to go the other way.
The moment was over. Her chance with Bosco? Gone.
“Maybe I’ll see you around sometime?” Bosco asks, and Gigi nods. See knows it’s dumb, but she’s sad to be let out of the room. What were the odds that one fifteen minute conversation would actually get her anywhere with Bosco? They’d probably just wave at each other every once in a while and call it a day.
“Yeah! I’d like that,” she says, choking down all of the other things she’d rather say.
“I wish we were still stuck in the room, just so we could keep talking to each other.”
“I’ve wanted to talk to you for months and I wish I talked better so you would want to keep talking to me.”
“I want to go on a date with you because I love your smile and think you’re funny.”
“I don’t want to be just some person you pass in the halls.”
“I’d like that,” Gigi says again.
“Okay, well, I’ll see you on Monday, I guess,” Bosco takes a few steps backwards, and Gigi hopes that she’s not showing her disappointment on her face.
“Yeah! Yeah, uh, see you Monday!” Her laugh sounds forced, but she can’t take it back now. She turns and walks down the hall, towards the stairs. She just has to go to her car and then she can go home and curl up on her bed and mope about everything—
“Wait, Gigi!”
She looks back, and Bosco’s taking long strides to catch up to her. “Would you… could we talk more sometime? We could go grab coffee, or something. Like a date.” Bosco looks sheepish, and Gigi melts at the expression. Gone was the smooth talking, confident Bosco that intimidated her, instead leaving a shy grin and fidgeting hands.
Gigi liked this version of Bosco, too. Gigi can feel her smile splitting her face, but she doesn’t care, too elated to worry about how she might look.
“If you’re free now…?” Gigi asks, and Bosco’s grin gets wider.
“Yeah! Yes.” Bosco nods emphatically. It makes her look like a bobblehead. It’s cute.
“It’s a date, then. Come on, let’s walk—I know a cute place a block or two away,” Gigi says, and Bosco falls into step beside her. She can’t keep the smile off her face, but she can see Bosco grinning triumphantly out of the corner of her eye, so she does nothing to stifle it.
They’re on the same page.

REDACTED verse - Movie marathon? Hell yeah!
Prompt: Any Fandom | Any Pairing | "I got us matching shirts!"
Word Count: 1,027
Author/Team: LadyMonotone
Fandom/Original: Redacted ASMR (Asher/Babe)
Rating: G
Triggers: NA
Summary: After a busy work week, Babe suggests they do something fun on the weekend. Asher has just the idea.
ConCrit: Y
I realised that I’ve never wrote a oneshot for Asher & Babe. Let’s fix that!
-
"Hey, welcome home Babe. Are you - shit, is everything OK? You look pale!"
Asher stops himself when his Mate steps into their apartment, looking like they're seconds away from collapsing. So he hurries over to support them. Babe throws him a tired yet grateful smile and lets Asher takes their bag from their shoulders.
"I'm OK, Asher. I'm just... exhausted. It's been a long day." Babe reluctantly admits and allows Asher to gently pull them on the couch so they can rest their feet.
Asher's eyebrows furrow in distress at the state of his Mate. They're exhausted, probably starving (he doesn't know if Babe has eaten anything other than the breakfast they had together today. He silently cursed himself for not calling to check up on them) and emotionally drained. He hates it.
"You've been having a long week, Babe." Asher gently corrects them. When Babe rests their head on his shoulder, he hugs them tightly as if to shield them from the world. Babe snuggles deeper into his embrace. "You've been going out for work early morning and coming back late at night, every day. Sometimes even later than me. I'm just... I'm worried about you, Babe."
"I'm sorry, Ash." Babe sleepily reply. They yawn and continue with a weary sigh, "Work has been crazy lately, but today was our last deadline, so next week should be a bit calmer. Hopefully."
Asher beams and rubs their arm comfortingly. "Hell yeah, that's great to hear, Babe! Is there anything I can do to help you tonight? I made some avocado Caprese wraps, chickpea salad sandwiches and a cold chicken salad for dinner. Oh! We also have some lemonade in the fridge; squeeze 'em myself this morning too. You're up for it?"
Before Babe could say anything, the hunger that had been on the edges of their mind now made itself known with a vocal reminder - both Babe and Asher startle when they heard their stomach growl loudly.
Babe chuckles sheepishly. "Food sounds fantastic right now." They pause. "Hey, Ash?"
"Hmm?"
"We both have been working hard lately. How about we do something this weekend? I think we both badly need a break."
Asher's eyes lit up at his Mate's suggestion, mind already racing with ideas. "Oh, yes! We should totally do something fun tomorrow! But you also need to rest up, Babe."
Babe hums thoughtfully. "Well, I'm happy as long as we can do something together. It feels like I rarely get to see you nowadays..."
Heart twisted in pain at his Mate's quiet admission, Asher kisses the top of Babe's head. "Same here, Babe. It sucks being adults, eh?"
They snicker and remain on the couch to cuddle for a few more minutes before Babe's stomach growls again. While Babe excuses themselves for the bathroom, Asher makes himself busy by serving their dinner. He cheers when Babe re-appear wearing their pyjamas and with colours back in their complexion. It looks like the hot shower did them a world of good. "There's my, Babe! Come on, come on - let's eat! You're going to love the avocado Caprese wraps, I promise!" He declares after ushering Babe towards the chair beside his.
Babe glances at their meals with a knowing smirk as they help themselves with a plate of wraps and some salad. "Interesting spread, Asher. All the things that don't require the stove."
"You know it." Asher shoots his Mate a wink and grabs his own plate. Throughout their meal, Asher and Babe entertain one another about the possibilities of what they could do at the weekends. Babe offers to play Halo with Asher, which nearly makes him leap from his chair in joy but instead, something dawn on him.
"I got it! Wait here, Babe!" Asher suddenly shouts, eyes wide with glee. His body practically vibrates with excitement as he abandons his food and runs towards their bedroom.
Leaving Babe frozen in their seat with a fork halfway into their mouth. When they hear rummaging sounds coming from the room, Babe slowly resumes eating; their eyes glued to the bedroom door.
When Asher burst out of the room, he's proudly holding up two t-shirts. "Ta-da! What do you think, Babe!?"
Babe takes their time in chewing their food, swallow before replying, "Uh, think of what, Ash?" They ask sceptically.
Asher is more than happy to explain his plan. "OK, here me out, Babe. Since October is just around the corner, do you know what that means?"
"Uh, our bill for the heaters would increase?"
"OK, yeah, I guess you're right on that one - hey, are you teasing me?"
Babe laughs. "Only because it's so easy to do so." At Asher's puppy pout expression, Babe hurries to amend themselves while still supporting a fond smile on their face, "I'm sorry, Ash. What were you trying to say?"
Asher perks up once more and flaps the t-shirts. "October means Halloween, Babe! So that means we're having a movie marathon all weekend tomorrow; the Fear Street Trilogy, the classics like Hellraiser, and uh, I guess we can give Malignant a shot too."
A horror movie marathon? Well, Babe always wanted to watch Midsommar but work always get in the way. "We definitely have to give Malignant a try. But what's with the t-shirts?"
"I bought these last week. Check it out, Babe!" Asher unfolds one of the shirts to display the front side. It wrote 'He's my trick' with an arrow pointing to the right, which Asher then showed the other shirt that wrote, 'They're my treat' with an arrow pointing to the left. "I got us matching shirts! Don't they look cool!? We have to wear them for our movie marathon tomorrow!" Here, Asher suddenly realises something judging by his shit-eating grin. "We can wear them to David's place on Halloween and watch him try not to die inside."
Goofy matching shirts. That's so Asher that Babe can't help but fall helplessly in love with him all over again.
Babe also can't help laughing their guts out at his 'prank' against the Alpha. "I'm in favour of David staring at our shirts in utter disgust. Let's do it, Asher!"

OK, the new job..
..in short it sucks. I have been in training for over a month. It's a remote classroom, and the teacher is a hard-ass bout having the webcams on. Super ick. Like no joke, if you turn your cam off to get up and do anything without telling the whole group you're going they will kick you from the class. It's rude af.
From what I've been told by my actual supervisor, a lot of that should go away after training ends. But then, there's metrics. Yay.
And I'm now realizing that I've been doing a lot less creative endeavors since I started this job. Less writing for sure. And that kills me. I've had a lot less time to game as well. I'm going to push back against this big time soon. I'm stubborn like that. And I don't like being micro-managed. At. All.
I'm also coming to terms with the fact that I'm simply not a day person. I will admit I acknowledged this about myself a long time ago, but I'm proving it to myself daily.
For those who don't know (which is all of you) this new job was remote/work-from-home in the customer service area of health insurance. Now. I will be clear. I hate health insurance companies. Big time. Mostly because I believe healthcare should be free. There shouldn't be a price-tag on a person's well-being. I also believe that insurance companies have no business dictating what is best for a patient through their underhanded tactics of not covering services. Couple this POV with the fact that I don't like working underneath a microscope lens and you have a recipe for misery.
To rectify this, I've been applying for other jobs while in training. I do have some hopeful prospects in the pipeline. This just goes to show that my mind has been preoccupied with strategizing to efficiently play the capitalism game, (I have bills to pay, a need to feed myself and my family..) while balancing my personal needs and sanity.
A different game entirely than the ones I enjoy.
I have been hitting Back 4 Blood pretty heavy with the recent Halloween update.
Tumblr media
My friend and I have been in this pretty deep. We even started Nightmare mode this past week. We're just finishing up Act I. I have been playing a few other games which I will discuss another time.
I've also been watching horror movies like a madwoman. I usually am watching them on the regular, but I'm definitely watching more lately. I do have a Shudder subscription after all. But, Fall is here. It's getting colder, and I do love burying myself under blankets with good snacks and indulging in horror films. They're my chicken soup.
I am a huge Hellraiser/Clive Barker fan. And if you are too, you need to make sure you watch the new Hulu film. It has something for all Hellraiser fans imo. The effects are pretty stellar too.
Tumblr media
My only complaint is pretty minor. That is, they clearly had some amazing designers and artists working on this film. I wish the film's creators had taken the opportunity to create an entirely new figurehead for the franchise than a redone Pinhead/Priest. I have no problem with the female(?) slant. If cenobites even have gender. Considering the novella The Hellbound Heart never specified gender for any of the cenobites. I just feel that Doug Bradley's Pinhead should leave the franchise with Doug. There will never be another Pinhead like Doug. I wish the creators of the new film had taken the opportunity to create a new lead cenobite. A whole new character. All things considered, I'm not mad at Jamie Clayton's Priest, at all. I'm quite enchanted with the new cenobites.
Also, Terrifier 2 is making people faint and vomit. 😅
I mean, did anyone see the first movie? If it's anything like that, well... It's gonna be a gore-fest.
Now to try and get myself to sleep so I can not get kicked out of my training class tomorrow because I've nodded off. 🙄

Possible theories about the teaser
#1 theory) it's a nightmare/ el ptsd flashback of what happened to the other numbers. And they died. In the s4 trailer brenner says to the other numbers "today i have very special plans for you." In s1 brenner tells el " today is a very special day. Because today we make contact (with the demogorgan/upsidedown)." And so the initial teaser for this trailer with the bloodbath could show it didn't go well. And that's why el was kept isolated from the other kids... there just were no other numbers left!!!!! In a s4 film hellraiser 2 the psychiatrist used patients to open a portal to another world which usually k*lled them so maybe el was locked away in her room for not obeying brenner like in the past- and just heard what happened with the door closed? .The last clip could be unrelated to the first scene of Brenner/the numbers-  so el opening her eyes with a possible buzzcut  & audio of brenner asking if she was listening/el hyperventilating could be from several diff eps of the present day and not even connected to one another.
 audio of Brenner  saying "eleven are you listening " could be a call back to how billy (when hurting someone) sensed El spying in the present day- and then el hyperventilates when billy sees her and acknowledges her presence. Sort of like the trailer.
 In quite a few movies on the s4 list the m*rder victims had numbers carved on them- its possible they were dumped in Hawkins woods/quary years ago (aka lucas saying it wasn’t Will but another kid in the quary could be foreshadowing). And that causes all the paranoia/satanic panic in Hawkins. Because the catalyst for satanic panic of a small town-in one film was finding children dead in the woods and river (paradise lost).its possible someone comes across their bodies in Hawkins woods years after they were dumped/burried there?
 El later probably tracks brenner down at penthurst with her tracking powers   (after Kali asks her to) cause El may want to prevent another tragedy if she suspects he  is starting up a new program . Kali even asked El in s2 for El to “face their father and heal their wounds together”. Pic Brenner’s actor (matthew modine) posted pre s3.
Tumblr media
I think el has all her powers except telekinesis. El/kali team up and maybe sneak into pethurst facility (like in ace Ventura -people posing as siblings investigate a m*rder and one fakes being ‘crazy’ to sneak in to the psych facility and find a murderer) . In hellraiser 2 it was a real psych facility -but the basement was where the evil dr did his secret experiments unbeknownst to the other staff members. In ‘peanut butter solution’ 2 kids - 1 of them is goth/not american teams up with a girl to find a man named ‘senior ‘ who is kidnapping kids for their powers. That character snuck into the senior’s place to find their friend/sibling (maybe Will?? based off some foreshadowing/that bts pic of the noah look alike ...idk it’s possible). Also wtf is 12 if not maybe Will?
Tumblr media
The one who sneaks in starts calling senior “dad” (like papa) to trick him into thinking they trust him.  Kali already busted Dottie out of a psych hospital (so she may help El do the same) and lucas referenced El being at pethurst in s1 where she had never been - but the facility has been shown in s4 bts pics. Alexi in s3 even watches roadrunner- -in that “papa bear” throws him in a psych facility. So I think someone will be captured by Brenner (accidental or otherwise)- most likely el to save new experiments/ maybe Will.
Her appearing to have a buzzcut at the end of the trailer may be a shot from a diff episode when captured again-possibly in the upsidedown/void on Brenner’s request?
Other alternative possibilities/theories
#2 theory ) it could be something in the present day? but cut scenes/audio are once again meshed together to confuse us. This could be how s4 ends -on a ominous cliffhanger-with El and Will captured (and their futures undecided). And Brenner saying a line reminiscent to s1- which was what  caused the portal to the upsidedown to open in the first place.
Tumblr media
“TODAY we make contact...or maybe TOMORROW?” Could be a hint this scene in the s4 teaser is a cliffhanger ending  . He says at the end of s4 “today is a very special day” cause of his plans to make contact again. But we have to wait for s5- to see them make contact again.There’s  also only 2 teens who’s faces are obscured (everyone else is little kids). Like the older guy playing chess could be Will hard to say (it’s an older male teen - with an adam’s apple- and moles -similar to noah). And the only other teen is across from him and looks female. Will likes board games- and the older teen across from him could be el.  in s4 bts people thought they saw millie (with her leg scar) and Noah at pethurst both wearing the lab gowns from the trailer. And the shot of the rooms 11 (and the room next to it - could be labeled 12 -since in another shot we saw a diff door from a diff hallway’s than El’s -say 10).  If the door right next to her’s isn’t 10- well it may be 12. The other numbers could just be reused after the originals died/ escaped/ the hawkins lab program was forced to shut down (and brenner captured new kids in those 3 years El left -like starting from scratch back to 1-10 -and El and Will are 11 and 12 since they’re captured at the end). That could also explain why the rainbow room looks so different than the one in s2′s hawkins lab flashbacks-cause it’s at a new facility at pethurst. The real pethurst (from Pennsylvania) not the one in st/indianna was infamous for human rights ab*ses which is why it was shut down in the 80s. Not to mention how in s1/2 the lab was watching El/Will in the same way -and it was hinted Brenner suspected Will had powers.The Will ST comic- referenced ‘house of stairs’ (Will throws that book at the demogorgan) .It involved a gay male teen (in love with his childhood bff) and a gal with buzzcut -being kidnapped and thrown in the facility by an evil psychiatrist who is trying to make the teens into weapons for the government. And the “into the fire” st comic had a fire wielding character  with mental health issues (cough Will the wise- having fire powers/ penthurst being a psych facility) . She was stuck in Brenner’s facility- and escapes using her fire powers. So I think it’s pretty likely it’s Will.And probably El too who go to Pethurst, where Brenner is.
#3) it's a flashback from Kali-like how el used her powers to see Terry and Billy's traumatic memories. However the way its shot is very crisp and clean. Terry's memories were blurry around the edges, or in parts of the void, or choppy memories blended together in a fast sequence. Billy's were also choppy/blended together in fast sequence and also in the upsidedown/void. But it could be a hint certain powers are getting stronger without her telekinesis? It could show how kali escaped - maybe an allusion of a bloodbath was used as a distraction? Kali said she escaped when el dissapeared from the rainbow room -and el appears to be isolated from the room.but idk since everyone has buzzcuts which kali didn't have in her 2 flashbacks (or heck in the comic the 3 other numbers-including the male/female teens who escaped had all their hair too)- what was the catalyst for the haircuts if not someone or multiple girls escaping? So would the teaser be post-kali’s escape? We may see kali flashbacks but that footage may not be from this teaser? I feel the theory of 1 or 2/a combo of 1 and 2  are the most likely. Kali may even try to rescue them with the help of others in s5/4
Personally,  whatever happens, I still feel like we’ll see BOTH flashbacks of the lab- and El and Will captured by Brenner at Pethurst.

Henry Cavill x Reader
Summary: Henry has a reputation that makes you cautious and it’s caused some disagreements. Everyone thinks you hate each other, but maybe you don’t as much as you let on. (fluffy ending, and idk, maybe angst depending on your definition).
Words: 2880
Notes/Warnings: I made this like mid-20s Henry during the Tudors filming, season 1. If I messed up with tenses somewhere, I’d like it of you let me know. I started this story out in the past-tense then changed it to present so I might have missed some stuff when editing, even after reading it 100 times over.
Tumblr media
At the sound of the doorbell, you hop up from your sunken spot on the couch. After the day you had, the Chinese food on the other side of that wood slab is the only thing with the ability to help you recover before you must face a fresh 5 a.m. morning with Henry tomorrow.
God, you want that man to fall off the face of the earth. You don’t care if his disappearance meant you would temporarily be out of a job. Being an assistant on the set of The Tudors was something you had strongly considered sacrificing in the past if it meant never having to work with one very particular, blue-eyed, temperamental actor ever again.
You almost quit weeks ago but told yourself to suck it up. You can’t afford to unintentionally cause drama at your workplace, not after your last job; and getting that kind of reputation is not what you are going for. Besides, filming for the first season is almost over, and you will gladly welcome the long break before everyone needs to report back for season two.
The smile you were fully prepared to give the delivery man falls entirely at the sight on the other side of the door.
“What the hell are you doing here,” You huff out.
Henry crosses his thick arms over his even thicker chest and frowns back at you. “I didn’t get my script.”
A headache is already forming just from his proximity and you don’t bother resisting the urge to rub at your temple. “Well, I sent it to your house a week ago.”
“And I didn’t get it, so clearly you didn’t do a very good job.”
With an eye-roll, you say, “Is there some reason you had to come all the way to my apartment and bug me for the script when I will see you first thing in the morning?”
“Everyone else will have had theirs longer, and I wanted to get a good start on learning my lines, so yes, I have a good reason for ‘bugging’ you, Y/N.”
You hate the way he says your name. It passes his lips so softly every time and makes your heart speed faster than your liking. If another man said your name like that, you’d fall for him in an instant, but no, Henry seemed to be the only man possessing that thick, honey-sweet voice.
“Whatever,” You groan and turn on your heel. In your office desk are two extra copies of each actors’ script for emergencies, but a simple text from Henry would’ve sufficed; this is hardly life or death.
‘Hey, never got my script. Can you bring a copy in the morning?’ So damn easy.
You turn your head back when Henry’s heavy footsteps hit your hardwood floors. “Hey, I didn’t say you could come in,” You snap, eyebrows drawn together.
“What kind of person would leave their guest outside?”
The sass in his tone makes you want to pull your hair right out of your scalp. “You’re not my guest,” You say, but your blatant aggravation does nothing to hinder him and his body is a foot away from yours before you know it. Inches he has on you forces you to look up just to meet the smirk on his face.
“Stop acting like you hate me,” He says as he reaches a hand to grab yours.
“Excuse me?!” You quickly swat that hand away. “I am not acting like anything! Any negative feelings you are sensing from me are one hundred percent genuine.”
Henry scoffs and crosses his arms once again. “Oh, please.”
Your jaw drops in disbelief. He is unbelievable. Everything he does, everything he says, everything he is has had the power to make your whole body shake since the day you met him. “God, I can’t stand you!”
Walking away from him for the office, he follows close behind. “You know what, you’re not all that great either!” He yells at your back as you open the drawer of your desk to shuffle through the scripts. “You yap all damn day, talking to everyone else on set and making them laugh! You shoot that pretty smile in any direction and people flock to you like deranged birds!”
“So!” You pull out the script and hand it to Henry. Without giving it a glance, he snatches it from you and tosses it back on the oak wood surface of the desk.
“So? You’re distracting them from their jobs! We could probably get things done twice as fast if you weren’t around!”
“That’s—”
“And you are annoyingly beautiful!” He harshly interrupts. “Annoyingly! The men we work with will not shut up about it and I’m sick of listening to them talk about you the way they do! I end up hearing your name more times in a day than I hear my own, and I get called upon every five seconds! I’m practically forced to think about you!”
You blink at the increase in volume that makes the thin walls of your home quiver.
“I don’t know how many times your face manages to flash in my mind in the course of a week, but it’s starting to get to me!”
Your hands rise in disbelief before they slap back down to your sides. “That’s not my fault! But you’re one to talk! You’re well aware you’re ridiculously, unnaturally hot, and I fucking hate it! The women we work with won’t shut up about you. And you think I’m annoying? Imagine being surrounded by a pack of idiots that go on and on about how amazing you are, when the truth is, you’re so arrogant I can’t stand to be within two feet of you!”
When you try to walk past him, his hand wraps tightly around your upper arm. “Hey!”
“Leave me alone! I hate you!” You snarl at the rage in his eyes and try to shake him off you.
“You don’t hate me.”
You glare up at him. “Oh no?”
He gapes at you, seemingly stunned you have the gall to challenge him. The grip on your arm loosens until you are free. Winding his fingers through his chocolate locks, Henry shakes his head and clenches his jaw. “You are so...”
“So what? So irritating? So infuriating?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“If I’m such a problem, then go.” Ignoring his words, you point a finger in the general direction of the nearest exit.
“You want me to leave?”
“Yes! Of course, I do!”
He quirks an eyebrow and cocks his head. “So you’re going to grab me with your tiny hands and throw me through the front door, is that right?”
“I can’t fucking lift you!” You yell.
“Then I’m staying!”
“I think you’re really not! You can’t just demand to stay here! That’s not how this works!”
“Why can’t you just—God damn it!” He stomps his way back into the living room, script forgotten, and reaches for the doorknob. You follow him and let out an exhausted breath of relief, but Henry whips around to you again before you have time to revel in the feeling. “You know what, no. I’m not going anywhere until we settle this bullshit between us. I’m not going to argue with you anymore. I’m not going to act like I dislike you. I’m not going to keep playing this game, because it’s clearly not getting me anywhere; in fact, it’s doing the opposite.”
“Getting you anywhere?” You mumble.
“This whole thing is fucking bullshit and I’m over it.” He swallows. “Tell me what I did.”
“What?”
“You keep saying you hate me but have never given me a reason, so what did I do?”
Your jaw drops. “Are you kidding? You were just telling me I suck at my job, yet at the same time you don’t think I have a reason to be mad. You glare at me during work, you act like I’m an inconvenience, you—”
“That’s not what I mean.” Henry grabs your hand, and for a reason you couldn’t place, you allow it this time. “At the beginning, when we met, what was it that caused a problem between us? I’ve gone over our first meeting in my head about a thousand times and cannot figure out how I upset you so much that you’re still mad after months.”
You slip your fingers out of his palm, looking to the floor.
“Please just tell me,” He begs. “Please, I--”
“You sleep with the women you work with.” You spit out.
When he stares at you in confusion, you wince and say, “I have this friend…kinda. She was an extra on Hellraiser and claimed that you slept with nearly every woman on set, herself included. When I told her I got this job she said you’d probably try to get in my pants if I wasn’t careful, and I’m not cautious enough about men as it is, so—”
“You were mad at me before we met for something I didn’t even do?” He isn’t angry or looking at you like you’ve lost your mind; more like he can’t believe that was all it was. As if he had a simple solution to the problem that planted its roots deep into the both of you months prior.
“Whether or not you did, it’s not like you’ve been an angel to me anyway,” You say.
“Because I fucking panic when someone I want doesn’t want me! And you’ve made it very clear that you do not want me! You always seem so angry and…and I’m not very smooth, ok!? I say shit I don’t mean!”
“So you do want to get in my pants?”
“No!” He says quickly, then after a beat, sighs. “Yes.”
You give no response, so he continues.
“I swear, despite how idiotic I have acted, I really like you, and I don’t know who your friend is or why she would tell you I slept with a bunch of women on set, but I didn’t.”
You have to look away from him. His eyes hold too much sincerity and all it does is confuse you. You have spent too much time pissed to feel comfortable with the idea that it was potentially all for no reason, so you hug your arms across your middle and take a step back from him.
“Y/N, we need to talk about this.”
You shake your head. “I can’t right now.”
“Y/N—”
“It’s late, Henry. I’ll see you in the morning.”
You won’t meet his stare but can see from your peripherals his head slowly nod. You don’t look up until your front door closes softly behind him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
You spend the earliest hours of the next morning sipping coffee before everyone else arrives for work, wondering if the night before actually happened or if it had just been a very realistic messy mix of a dream and a nightmare.
The sun rises and you watch as it ascends each inch until it’s planted high enough in the sky to warm your skin. He’d be here soon, looking for you, wanting answers for any questions you hadn’t given him the chance to ask.
So, what, he likes me now? He wants me? You can’t wrap your head around it. But you suppose it makes as much sense as you saying you hate him when really what you’ve been is nervous. You don’t want to be used again by some man with more power than you. Pulling yourself out of that hole was hard enough and you have no desire to trip and fall right back in.
“Y/N. You’re here early.”
You jump at the first voice to interrupt the peaceful silence. It was the last moment you’ll have to yourself for the next fifteen hours at least.
Turning your head, you smile at your boss. “Morning, Em.”
“Henry’s here early, too,” She says. “He asked me to let him know when you came in, but seeing as you’re already here, you think you could just head to his trailer now?”
No, you want to say. I’m not ready. “Sure.” You half-heartedly smile, dumping the last of your coffee in the nearest trash can.
Each crunchy step along the gravel to Henry’s trailer feels less sturdy than the one before. Though, he isn’t in his trailer when you find him, but standing out in a grassy patch, throwing a ball to Em’s dog, Leo. It makes your heart pump hard to see him so casually soft. It’s the first time you are looking at him when his eyes aren’t already on you.
Leo loyally returns the ball to Henry three more times before you gather the nerve to step up to his side.
“Em said you wanted to see me.”
You notice him hold in a breath when he registers your voice, then tossing the ball once more, he says, “I’d have gone looking for you myself if I knew you were here.”
You nod, but you’ve yet to look at one another.
“The makeup artists are gonna have a blast today trying to make me look decent,” He says.
“What do you mean?”
“I didn’t sleep all night. I spent it trying to figure out what to say to you but came up short.”
You scratch behind Leo’s large ears when he nudges your legs with his head. Henry gently grins, though you don’t see it. You shrug. “At least you don’t have as many scenes today.”
Henry chuckles. “That’s true.”
“I couldn’t think of anything to say to you either,” You say.
A moment passes as he blows out a deep sigh.
“Y/N…I don’t want to act like it didn’t happen. I know that’s what is easiest, but I meant what I said. The good parts, not the shit about you sucking at your job. You’re the best at your job.”
Finally meeting his eyes, the corners of your lips curve up just a bit.
“But I don’t expect you to feel the same about me.”
“Henry…”
He shakes his head and throws the ball for Leo after the pups persistent whimpering. “I’m not going to make things hard for you. Filming is almost over anyway and if you want, I’ll try to bother you as little as I can. I’m sorry I’ve been an ass, it’s just…you like everyone around here except me, but I’ve liked you more than anyone else since the moment we met. It’s no excuse--”
“It’s ok.”
He looks at you. “It’s not.”
“It is.” Without thinking, you place a hand on his arm. He stares at the touch you give him as you continue. “I didn’t have a good reason for treating you like I hate you, not really.”
“So, you don’t…hate me?”
“…No.” You look away in shame. “And I have a better explanation for that.”
He blinks, clearly relieved that every horrible thing he figured you felt for him was not, in your heart, the truth. “You don’t owe me one.”
“I slept with my boss once,” You rush out. “And, um…got the same warning as I did with you: sleeps with the other women he works with, will try to do the same with me. He did and I let him because I thought he liked me, but…no. All it did was make me feel like an idiot in the end.”
“I’m so sorry.”
“I made a mistake.” You shrug. And suddenly, admitting that out loud, confiding in someone, knocks some of the painful gears in your head loose. You’d never told anyone the truth about your past. “Look, this is going to sound really odd but,” You swallow. “…Don’t stop bothering me.”
“Wait,” He turns his body fully to you. “What?”
Your lips thin, but then you smile, inch up on your toes, and go to kiss his cheek. All you wanted to do was provide a little reassurance, to let him know that you now forgive every misunderstanding between you, but the kiss lands a little too far to the right and covers the end of his mouth.
Immediately, you pull back a few centimeters and feel heat flushing your cheeks, but Henry tilts his head the slightest. He takes a breath, giving you a chance to pull back further, but when you make no move to abandon him, he connects your lips again.
It feels good. He feels good. So good it shocks you how much you don’t want it to end. And when you part your lips and his tongue touches yours, you can’t stop your hands from sliding up his chest before roping around his neck and tugging him closer. Only then does he greedily grab at your hips, his fingers digging into your flesh through the fabric of your t-shirt.
Leo’s bark separates you minutes later, though you’re reluctant to allow it. You glance at the dog, chuckling at his rapidly wagging tail as he watches the scene before him. But when you look back to Henry, his eyes are already glued to you, their hue a little brighter and a small smile on his face.
“I’ll bother you as much as you like,” He says and tucks a wayward strand of hair behind your ear.

Heiya :D What are your faovurite movies and shows?
Listen... as a huge film buff, I am unable to be short about this question. So you’re getting a top 20 fav tv shows and a top 40 fav movies (and I still had a hard time, there were so many more I wanted to include) Tv Shows:
1)     Trust (from 2018 about the kidnap of John Paul Getty III): nobody seems to know this show exists and it’s SO FUCKING GOOD! Go watch it!!! 2)     Breaking Bad 3)     American Horror Story (Asylum, Freak Show and Cult) 4)     Mindhunter 5)     Penny Dreadful 6)     Spartacus 7)     The Haunting of Hill House 8)     Vikings (up until season 4, after that it got horrible imo) 9)     Game of Thrones (for Theon) 10)  Hannibal 11)  Bates Motel 12)  Fargo 13)  Six Feet Under 14)  Kulderzipken (this is a Belgian show that I watched with my family over and over again as a kid, it’s hilarious and I love it) 15)  Misfits 16)  Wentworth 17)  The Walking Dead 18)  Shameless 19)  Stranger Things 20)  La Casa de Papel
Movies:
My top 4 has been the same for ages so I don’t think it’ll change anytime soon, the rest is sorta interchangable though and yesterday and tomorrow i’d give you an entirely different list, possibly even with some different movies on there :) And yes, 28 out of 40 movies are horror movies (and many others are disturbing even if not considered horror) sue me.... 1)     A Clockwork Orange (1971, Stanley Kubrick) 2)     The Evil Dead (1981, Sam Raimi) 3)     Old Boy (2004, Park Chan Wook) 4)     Das Cabinet Des Dr. Caligari (1920, Robert Wiene) 5)     A Ghost Story (2017, David Lowery) 6)     The Man Who Laughs (1928, Paul Leni) 7)     Autumn Sonata (1978, Ingmar Bergman) 8)     Naked Lunch (1991, David Cronenberg) 9)     Carnage (2011, Roman Polanski) 10)  Saw (2004, James Wan): This is the only one on the list that I don’t actually think is a great movie objectively, but it was the movie that got me into movies and my first big obsession so it has a special place in my heart and I still think it displays a lot of creativity and I wish it could be viewed without the awful sequels in mind. 11)  Vincent (1982, Tim Burton): It’s a short film, just 6 minutes long, but it’s still my fav thing Tim Burton ever did! 12)  A Bay of Blood (1971, Mario Bava) 13)  Sleepy Hollow (1999, Tim Burton) 14)  Hereditary (2018, Ari Aster) 15)  Suspiria (1977, Dario Argento) 16)  The Skin I Live in (2011, Pedro Almodovar) 17)  The Lighthouse (2019, Robert Eggers) 18)  Piercing (2018, Nicolas Peche) 19)  Pan’s Labyrinth (2006, Guillermo Del Toro) 20)  A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014, Ana Lily Amirpour) 21)  Enemy (2013, Denis Villeneuve) 22)  Donnie Darko (2001, Richard Kelly) 23)  The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993, Henry Selick) 24)  Vampyr (1932, Carl T. Dreyer) 25)  Hellraiser (1987, Clive Barker) 26)  Lost Highway (1997, David Lynch) 27)  Nosferatu: Phantom Der Nacht (1979, Werner Herzog): I love the original as well, but I’m a bit more crazy about this remake 28)  Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992, Francis Ford Coppola) 29)  Brazil (1985, Terry Gilliam) 30)  12 Angry Men (1957, Sidney Lumet) 31)  The Favourite (2018, Yorgos Lanthimos) 32)  Funny Games U.S. (2007, Michael Haneke) 33)  Black Sunday (1960, Mario Bava) 34)  Faust (1926, F.W. Murnau) 35)  From Dusk Till Dawn (1996, Robert Rodriguez) 36)  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974, Tobe Hooper) 37)  Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988, Stephen Chiodo): probably the most shamelessly entertaining movie on this list! 38)  Meshes of the Afternoon (1943, Maya Deren) 39)  Valerie and her Week of Wonders (1970, Jaromil Jires) 40)  The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014, Wes Anderson) Honorable Mentions: Possum (a British horror movie from 2018 that nobody knows about but that’s super awesome), Hugo (from Scorsesse), Audition (from Takashi Miike), Paths of Glory (Kubrick’s most underrated movie imo, it’s talked about so little!) and Under the Silver Lake
 @moviestorian, @janiedean, @cafeleningrad & @like-a-word-on-a-wing now I’m really curious to know your top whatevers of movies and tv shows! :)
