Horror. Romance. Hellraiser. I sometimes discuss mature content on my blog, and therefore I would appreciate it if minors would not follow.

I think there's this problem where a subset of The Left has assigned a positive moral value to the amorphous concept of kink, but a negative moral value to any individual actual kinks. so you get people gleefully calling themselves perverted freaks but then you scroll down their posts and it's like s&m is abusive and teacher/student roleplay is gross and petplay is basically bestiality and if you don't use a safeword for every scene and check in every three minutes then you're evil and if you wear a collar in the grocery store you're basically committing sexual assault on everyone who sees you. and it's like I dunno man I think you might just be vanilla. which is only a problem because you yourself don't seem to know that.

i'm so exhausted and tired by constant Mature Language Mature Thoughts Mature Content flags and having to censor perfectly normal words and having to think twice about everything i say and what platform it can go on in case somebody could see it and feel things and waaaah
like. fucking hell
i'm not a mormon. i'm not an evangelical christian. i'm not a self-loathing mid-western american person who belongs to any cults. i don't despise and loathe the concept of female sexuality or women existing. i don't feel ashamed or disgusted by sexuality or sex, and i refuse to
meanwhile every goddamn website i use is trying desperately to train me into exactly that sort of shame and self-loathing and fear of sex and sexuality, and bodily autonomy, and personal physical empowerment
skewing the meaning of "consent" to mean. if someone sees a picture they don't like
being horny is good. sexual and sexy art and literature are good. i like to feel sexual desire and to be sexually desired. i like sex. i like sexuality. i like "mature themes". i don't need to click a consent box to see every single potentially mature post one-by-one. i feel like i'm going insane

they are barring wikipedia. they are barring spotify. they are barring important news - both national news and world news. they are barring mental health forums and LGBTQ related things and so much more. this is not about protecting children, it has never been about protecting children.
the online safety act is an insane privacy breach, and if that does not scare you then you need to think harder about it. it is going to end up in a massive data leak - all the information is getting collected by random third party systems. can we trust them? no. can we even hold them accountable? no. because the government couldn’t even make their own system to do these age checks.
and i hear you - it is important that kids don’t see porn. but even if all this was about protecting kids, it’s sloppy and useless. it’s easy (for now) to get around with a vpn and the only thing the act doing is censoring things that it shouldnt. if the government wanted to protect kids, they would do something concrete about it - they would be putting more funding into education, for example.
of course the policy isnt called “national surveillance”. they’re not going to call it that. everything will be hidden behind things that people want.
so email your MP, and tell other people that this is WAY more than blocking porn from children - this is the first step towards national surveillance.

did you guys know that using the proper terms to refer to real life issues helps a lot more than dramatizing it far past the truth. misinformation is not good even if its from the side you agree with and you can still address problems while spreading accurate information

Clive Barker speaking on JKR
“There’s a lot of pain amongst the transgender people that I know,” Barker stated. “They have a lot of issues in the world as it is, without a famous author opining on the subject. It just seems redundant. It just seems unkind.”
Noting Rowling’s vast financial success, Barker felt that Rowling’s newfound position of fame ought to exclude her from discussing trans rights. He added, “It really just seems redundant for a woman as successful, as validated in the world, as Ms Rowling, to be negative, to be disruptive if you will, to a very beaten up subculture. These are human beings. She has no right to opine, I think, upon the lives of human beings that she does not know.”
“I feel very protective of people who are on the edge of our culture as gay people still are,” Barker continued. “And certainly transgender people are on the edge of our culture. And here you have one of the most successful people in the frigging world – Ms Rowling. Going after a very emotionally vulnerable portion of our culture. It just seems unnecessary and unfair.”

Anyone else not care if a character is “redeemable” even a little. Either they get better or they die terrible. I am not Anubis, weighing their hearts against a feather. I wanna see what else they can do and how they can grow or change or even get worse. Stop asking me if a character can be forgiven. I don’t care.

the curse of adhd:
i will remember with absolute clarity, when the thought strikes me that i have a text to send someone, that this is the fourth time in three days i've attempted to send this specific text
i will forget, in the time it takes me to pick up my phone, that i picked it up intending to send a text
#This problem directly caused me to lose a job#it also means I regularly forget scheduled plans with my partner

Everybody can make mistakes, but getting legitimately upset about race or gender swapping fictional characters (whether you believe you have justifications for it or not) truly has to be one of the most pathetic things I've seen fandom do. A black person playing a character who's usually a white person is like...pretty much such a non-issue. You already have white performers who have done the role. The nature of fiction is such that many different types of people may one day play the role themselves in different performances or adaptations. This is a thing that means nothing, other than that the thing you love is loved by many other people, and sometimes people who don't look like you may love it and want to be a part of it.
And that makes you angy.
