The Goodmans

Just like I promised, I'm back to introduce you to the proud owners of the Orpheum Theater. Meet Al & Margo Goodman!

This father and daughter duo are quite inseparable. Ever since Margo's mom died tragically when she was just a baby, Al has been the one taking over both roles, mother and father that is, and caring for Margo. Being the cinephile he's always been, he's passed his passion for the movies onto Margo, making sure she grew up watching the best of classics, surrounded by film tapes and learning everything about the business: from how to properly use the old projector to setting up the marquee everytime they're about to premiere a new title. Al adores Margo, though sometimes he can't help but wonder whether he's done a good job raising her or not since, you know, she seems to be struggling finding the strength to leave the nest and fly on her own.

Always more of a tomboy, Margo's always had it hard making female friends and fitting into the idea of what a woman from her time should act like. Hence, you'll rarely see her out and about in town; she's done having to deal with people's judgement for stupid things like refusing to wear a dress. Instead, you'll most likely find her at the Orpheum Theater, cleaning around the hallways or fixing a rusty old pipe. She's never been interested in the glamour envolving the movie industry as much as she has in the more technical, behind the curtains aspects of it.

I have to admit I usually find the task of creating townies quite overwhelming (it is soooo time consuming to work on all of their outfits, considering you won't even play with them and just need them to be walking around town, right?), but I really am enjoying bringing this Vintage Save File to life through their stories and personalities, thinking of what their background stories would be and all that jazz, you know?

Nina Caliente, 24:

was a complete tomboy as a child, never cared about her appearence; unfortunately her body betrayed her and suddenly these big buttocks and even bigger boobs appeared - she used to be very insecure about it (especially since Dina was always very skinny) and that's how her fitness obssession started; now is actually proud of her curves and likes to show them off a bit

her heart was broken by Don many times - she fell for him in high school - and despite them still being friends and on-and-off woohoo buddies - she never really recovered, hence her non-committal ways

is much closer to Katrina/Nighat than Dina, probably because she does not care about her mothers' ambitions

never cared much for education, so it ended after high school

works at the Oasis Springs' gym

bought herself the "Bitch" necklace and wears it with pride

Last year when I entered 2022, I had no clue what or where I wanted to be by the end of the year. After I turned 22, I began my journey in manifesting & from November 4th, 2022 to today, December 29th, 2022, everything that I’ve wanted, I’ve received. Today I’ve decided to set in stone the things I want to be for next year as sort of a time capsule to look back on! Welcome to Pluto’s “Appearance” guide to 2023!

Lookbook:

As a person who is still affected by their childhood trauma, a major difficulty I face is allowing myself to be vulnerable with the way I express myself. Whether it is through clothing, accessorizing, hair, or makeup. I present myself as more as a tomboy, in hopes to deter the male gaze. However, recently through this blog, I’ve allowed myself to express my love for pink and I realized just how much I loveeeeee girly shit. In 2023, I will make room for the girl in me who loves all the sparkly, glittery, girl stuff while still keeping a bit of my tomboy style. Here are some examples:

Colors:

For 2023, while I know pink will rule my year fashion wise, I hope to incorporate colors like below into my fashion. I am a girl who is used to relying on darker colors in hopes to avoid bringing attention to herself. However, over the ending months of 2022, I realized that as long as I output positive energy, I will receive positive energy and attention on myself. In 2023, I will no longer allow myself to shy away from anyone.

Makeup:

Okay so, I have a odd relationship with makeup. While I love it, I absolutely hate how foundations look on me. So in 2022, I experimented with some makeup brands and created a “full makeup , no makeup” starter kit for myself! The products I will swear by are:

Danessa Myrick’s “Blurring Balm Powder” in color 9

L.A. Girl Pro Concealer in shade “Toast”

Any Eyebrow pencil

Any dark brown lip liner

Any clear lip gloss

Any Strip Lashes

So because I have oily skin, I don’t use a primer or a setting spray / powder. To prep my skin I use a Vitamin E oil and a Collagen oil. The “Blurring Balm Powder” actually makes my skin look EXTREMELY matte and lasts all day!

Hair:

Beyond the fashion things, I do want to express myself with my hair also! I have ginger shoulder length locs now so by the end of the year I want my hair to be touching my upper back (so I can start using claw clips). Some hairstyles / colors I’ll like to try out are:
