Not surprised since this is the site that only talks about racism and thinks it’s a big deal when they see it demonstrated in the cartoons and comics they like *coughs* dungeonmeshi *coughs* (for example at least. I haven’t seen THIS many white ppl talk as in depth about racism on here as much as these fandom nerds, man. I stg. Like “Ohhhh, so you all DO acknowledge that racism is real? Tumblr is like, 90% white and is extremely centered around them. That’s why you barely see stuff that’s important to black and brown people ever trending here or being talked about. It has to be something incredibly huge to the point where even white people can’t ignore it like they usually do, to talk about it here.

They only talked about George Floyd here because the topic of his death became world news. Even people in other countries were talking about it. Before him, it was probably Ferguson and Trayvon Martin… most of them are still trying their best to ignore the genocides because it’s a “touchy subject.” What do you expect from white people who live in their own bubbles of comfort and refuse to pop it with a needle??? They find comfort in their privilege and faux ignorance (they love playing stupid to avoid conversations about important things outside of fandoms like, are these mfs born with half a brain dedicated to fandom or what.) That’s literally all these mfs make a big deal out of, especially on this annoying ass platform. The ao3 mfs will go to war for the site that allows racist ff and cp like it’s no big deal. I wonder how many people here even donated to the site while actively scrolling past dono posts from folks who really do need help. Then you already know as soon as you even bring up racism in the stuff they like, they start ganging up and harassing black bloggers especially, calling them TERFs and the whole nine. Been noting most of my urges in school were, yeah, anger issues and pent up energy, but also the dying need, impulsive lurch to fight like a boy, against other boys. I wanted to be different, wanted to be alone with them, wanted to challenge them and have them see something different in my eyes, not my body.

Had a couple fights, nothing terribly physical though plenty of confrontations and a door slammed on my foot while I glared and said I wasn't going to move, rough shoving and elbowing on the football grounds till my shoulders bruised while trying to steal the ball because I felt the urge to fight, scrap, bare teeth, whatever the fuck, the lone 'girl' tryna play with the boys.

I was told time and time again that I could play basketball or volleyball with the other girls, stop bothering the boys and let them play, you can do other stuff, and the coach didn't do jack shit about the hierarchy of maybe I'd get to play football if the other guys let me - bc I'd argue, I'd stand there and argue, say I wasn't moving - but. I'd get to play sometimes.

Sweaty, dirt on my uniform, heaving, cheeks flushed red from running, but a thrill somewhere deep inside, a grin I tried to hide. The times I didn't get to play I sat there on the steps and watched them. Wistful. Faint sounds of the girls laughing and talking amongst themselves nearby, not even bothering with P.E. while I watched the boys.

I knew I didn't want to fucking play anything else.

i think growing up kind of lonely does a number on you because i was never in a friend group, only ever on the periphery of many, a lot of my friendships were very transient (except the two people ive been friends with for 10+ years), i was never in any group chat (and i was always very aware that my friends were in a gc together, i just never got added), i was often left out of things, and so i just tended to drift away from people. and then i wonder if im always just going to be a little bit alone, a little bit outside of everything forever. yes i have friends but im none of my friends' closest friend.

I gotta put this somewhere because A Condition Called Love is now out and the episode game me the same bad vibes as the manga: I really don’t like the Male Leads of the current Shojo manga era. I couldn’t stand the Male Lead for A Sign of Affection last season either.

Hananoi love bombs Hotaru and I kept waiting for the manga to talk about how it’s bad and it just never happened. He corners a boy who has done nothing but be friendly to him and says “I only care about Hotaru stop talking to me.” That’s bad. And that was like 3 volumes in. How many chapters does it take before someone calls him out on it? I’ll never know because I checked out there.

I don’t mind flawed characters. But there’s gotta be some evidence that it’s wrong or it’s gonna be addressed and it never is. And it’s not that I don’t like Shojo any more because I’m still fully on board for Skip Beat and Yona of the Dawn and they’ve been stringing me along for a decade lol
