Feeling lethargic

Shinjuku, October 2019.

This year went by so fast; probably because I actually enjoy my work so far and I like my colleagues. We're going to move to another office next year, since we're vendor and all due to Japan law I heard (I'm not sure what). I feel quite sad because we're going to lose all the benefits that was promised during the job interview.

Sigh.

No more free food, coffee and massage chair. I also lost my earphone. And gave up on two frontal helix piercing I got in Seoul since they keep bleeding and never heal. Bought a second hand Ricoh GR2 and it kept freezing (thankfully refunded). And other happenings. I feel I'm not the luckiest these days. 色々うまく行かないから I feel... not exactly depressed but more like a lingering discontentments/disappointment almost everyday and it makes me tired.

Europe holiday is the only thing I look forward to. I hope nothing bad happen.

Street Photography

I’m just starting the... ‘human’ street photography these days.

And it’s (darn) hard.

It’s not that ‘pretty’ photography that everyone’s striving for these days where you can take your time, direct your model to face the light and have that perfect balance of shadow and light, pushing the lens to f1.4... you know, to control your photographs.

It’s almost impossible to know how your photos would come out. And human, other than my friends, is never really my strong point to shoot because I’m too coward/shy to approach strangers on the street.

I’ve been enjoying Tokyo-SPC session. I slowly learn how to take street pictures, interacting with random strangers and having fun in taking spontaneous pictures (and maybe one day I’d learn how to use flash too).

There’s no rule but one biggest thing about street photography (I guess), is that I have to present in their moment instead of mine.

On this 1st picture, is actually the ideal shot. But for me as the person behind the lens, the last two picture was the most memorable of all. Long story short, we were in front of Famima Shibuya and these 2 granpas was walking on the street after drinking and we just talk to them. They joined the commotion and he took my beer and we start photographing them. It was fun for us, it was fun for them. I had a little hard time focusing with my manual lens, and the struggle was captured on that photo and it was the moment I love the most.
