It was a winter morning on the beach in Follonica, where everything seemed suspended in time. Walking on a wooden platform, I was struck by the geometry of the metal bars, reminiscent of Japanese temple gates, perfectly harmonizing with the stillness of the landscape.

At first, I shot with a 24mm lens, trying to capture the light and shadows stretching toward the horizon. But I felt something was missing. I decided to switch to a 16mm lens, which allowed me to include more elements, emphasizing the lines and the vastness of the scene. Then, suddenly, a couple walked into the frame.

My initial reaction? Frustration, thinking they had interrupted the shot. But then I realized: their presence added something unique. A human touch, a balance. At that moment, I saw the composition come alive.

This shot was born that way—a blend of simplicity and complexity: the sun embracing the winter, the vastness of the sea, and two people who, unknowingly, completed the story.
