Her outfit in this OVA is so badass. Tsubasa Sakura really went very mature when you think back that these characters came from Cardcaptor Sakura. Visiting these 2000s era anime has been so fun
This is definitely my favourite scene in TRC anime ever!! Everything from the drawing, artstyle, voice, the animation, the music, etc. just so perfect and beautiful. The animation team and the director understand how this moment is peak and important to the story overall, they’ve tried their best.
My boy Tsu-kun was drawn so pretty here too my heart!! 😭💖
The soundtrack definitely the best thing in this scene too. I love how it builds up tension from the beginning, the haunting voice, and when Tsu woke up and the singers just went all out, the melody sounds like from this moment there will be tragedy. Yuki Kajiura is just so talented, not only the song fits so well with what’s happening, with the film’s atmosphere overall, but also perfectly with Tsu’s characterization and story: you can feel the sadness, tragedy, sacrifice, loneliness, elegant and most importantly his determination through the sing voices and melody.
the best part about bell’s hells meeting Nana Morri was partway through when the cast broke character to look at matt and ashley and go “okay whose idea was this”
Gojo JJK and Aizawa MHA are opposite archetypes insofar as Aizawa presents himself as the not-fun teacher but means well, while Gojo presents himself as the fun teacher but will absolutely destroy his students' expectations with work
I was looking for confirmation for the Fai thing I was talking about in the last post, but I found other things too!
Fai’s magic means that he can tell who is a clone right away. So, confirmed: he knew about Sakura right from the start.
(It also means he won’t be able to tell anymore moving forward, since his magic is all gone, but like how likely are we to meet a brand new character at this point in the story who is secretly also a clone?)
(... statistically it’s still pretty high)
RE: Fai in the previous post
Hey remember that? When Sakura wasn’t breathing, but she was fine?
Because her body is artificial!
Xing Huo’s magic circle is the same as Clow Reed’s - because she is a clone of Sakura, Clow Reed’s daughter, as well as it echoing the fact that it’s also Sakura’s initial magic circle in Cardcaptor Sakura. (The spoiler reason for this is also consistent with the logic here, but I’m not going to casually spoil Cardcaptor Sakura just in case)
SEE ALSO: Xing Huo’s decision to help Lava Lamp definitely makes sense considering that she’s a Sakura clone, but also her level of power! She was excluded from the ‘failed clone’ category Evil Wolverine tossed around last time, so her level of power shows that she was a much closer match to Sakura’s initial skillset - which explains why she has the strength needed to do the ‘Teleport to Yuuko Ichihara’ spell, which only the magically strongest people in the multiverse can pull off. She can also only cast it once, like some others (ie, most people who aren’t Fai)
Evil Wolverine says it’s “only natural” that she decided to help Lava Lamp. Again, most likely because she is originally a Sakura clone.
But now that she’s betrayed him, he’s adding her to the pile of ‘failures’ who he can’t use like he wanted to. (ie, like empty puppets, which she has now proven she is not)
Evil Wolverine mentions that he can’t reliably create clones that have the same level of power as their original. In this context he means Syaoran, but it also explains why there were just so many failed Sakura clones - because he just really just can’t pull them off that well, so it’s an uncommon occasion when they turn out as perfect as our Sakura! (And also why Xing Huo was closer to success, if not all the way there)
(Do you think he had failed Syaoran clones running around at some point too?? Can I see them???) (Or was Syaoran much much easier to replicate since he’s not as hyper powerful as Sakura?)
And this is just emphasising the tragedy of the Syaorans :’D
Where even the fact that Lava Lamp has to fight Syaoran at all is heartbreaking, because he has a deep connection to the soul Syaoran was building and DID want to be friends with him the whole time!
And now he has to watch Syaoran stab Sakura, meaning Sakura is stabbed by (a) someone who looks exactly like himself, (b) his failed attempt to help Syaoran secure his soul and become his own person, and (c) someone he desperately wanted to be friends with.
hi, do you still have the smt: tokyo revelation/apocalypse drama cd? it might be worth uploading to youtube, because even though its so obscure it could maybe get some attention that way. i would offer to translate it, but sadly the most i could personally do is put it into an audio transcriber software and machine translate it line by line. if you aren't interested, that's totally fine. i just found out about the OVA and it's *so weird*, and then there's its minor connection to giten megami tensei through kojiro's younger brother (really random). anyway i hope you have a nice day regardless!
Hi there, I do still have it. I'm concerned about copyright strikes though naturally. I had worked on the team that translated the Persona Sin & Punishment Manga and helped with a couple chapters and we were hit with a cease and desist right near the end, luckily another group was able to complete the last 2 or 3 chapters I'm not sure.
That said. I just want to take this opportunity to elaborate on the canon of the Tokyo Revelation subseries and let everyone know that it's actually part of the SMT 1/2/NINE/IMAGINE timeline. The anime version of Tokyo Revelation is set just before the nukes happen in SMT 1, and then Giten is some time post-nukes. I knew the games coincided with eachother but it wasn't till last year I learned that its confirmed that it specifically says how the titles align with eachother. That said I think it's funny that between TR and Giten there's not much connection aside from Sanshirou. Akita Kobayashi is actually one of my favourite Megami Tensei characters so it's sad he or Kojiro were never really brought up again. I still would love to play Giten even if it looks kind of not fun and a bit hideous haha. The final scene in the anime was breathtaking though and I'd love to speak on it in more detail if I'm ever given th chance.
