oliver's silly little round up of favorite and fun met gala looks bc sometimes ya just need to oooh and aaah at pretty dresses

favorite look of the night: zendaya's second look duh (black dress); the headpiece is wonderful and the bodice, shape of the dress, and different fabrics really made the black dress more special. like the makeup more here, the softer look really helped

da'vine joy - the long red hair? the denim? the contrasting blue shades? literally reminds me of fantasy heroine's dress in the big ball before they run into the forest (if you like her look, def go follow notyourmommashistory on insta!)

phoebe dynevor - loved the draping and the color and the different textures; literally looks like the 'veiled fabric' you see in old marble statues. pink undergarments is a fun change to the usual skin tone garments these naked dresses go with

alia bhatt - amazing bead work, dreamy and soft and so fun! honestly impressed that busy fabric can be sooo delicate and wispy.

gwendoline christie - the hair? the velvet? the cape? wonderfully styled; need her as fashionable villain

pamela anderson - a+ silhouette, love the chain and the feather hair. one of the few neutral colored dresses that didn't fall into the 'sad beige aesthetic' lmao

zendaya's first look - love the stripes and the grapes and the dragonflies/birds (i can't tell), minus a few points cause of the eyebrows. either needed darker brows or less artsy makeup i think

quannah chasinghorse - literally cinderella (and dare i say, better done than zendaya's past met gala look?), love that it looks like a flower, and the beadwork belt and earrings compliment the dress so well

taylor russel - kinda literal with the tree bark, but the molded top is so well done and the skirt draping is very statuesque

harris reed - literally looks like a renaissance painting? no notes, only admiration

imaan hammam - loved the simpler skirt so the studded top and big earrings could shine. gold wrist cuff bracelets were the cherry on top for a perfectly balanced look.

tyla - the sand is a little literal but super cool and love the sand on her arms

penelope cruz - vintage, lacy drama. i want to see this look in a movie (with maybe a different fabric than the white at the bustline)

venus williams - i didn't super love this look at first, but it's def grown on me. very memorizing and the hair accessories help tie everything together.

colman domingo - he knows how to rock a voluminous pant. the cream suit jacket with the cape is fun and could def hold on it's own without the pants.

wisdom kaye - love the color and the drama of the coat, the burned holes is fun and funky; don't super love the hat tho (it's giving boy george)

bad bunny - chef's kiss at the fun texture of the suit, the hat, and the red striping

honorary mentions - anok yai (loved the sparkles and colors and big ring, hated the jumpsuit and weird waistband), lewis hamilton (the flowers were great but a little boring in all black, bonus points for the metal vine tho), gigi hadid (love the bright white and black piping and obvious bustle inspo, but there's no way she could breathe in it), josh o'connor (for the suit tails only)

misc: brie larson's dress looks like the mosquito keeper-outer food cover thing lmao; michelle yeoh deserved better than crumpled up tinfoil

Your post on Bruce being the weakest human member of the league, makes me wonder what would happen if a new meta-human league member, after being criticised by Bruce for acting too rash on the field, turned around and essentially said something along the lines of 'What gives you the right to talk to me like that? At the end of the day, you're just some human.'

Cue a completely silent room and tension thick enough you could cut through it. I feel like before Bruce even had the chance to respond, multiple members of the league would step in first, especially Clark, if he's in the room when this interaction occurs.

I know it’s not super in character but I wish, in that moment, Bruce would simply step aside, tilt his head, and indicate that the meta should lead the mission themself if they feel so strongly. Kind of like when the Chef in the Menu let Tyler cook in the kitchen just to watch him fail (theoretically this would be a mission that doesn’t affect civilians etc).

Clark would be furious and so would everyone else. But maybe they’d still defer to Bruce and let the hotshot run the mission into the ground. Sometimes to teach a lesson, failure needs to be at full intensity.

Bruce would step in at the end, a la Speirs in Band of Brothers, reach a hand down to the frazzled meta, and ask him if he wanted him to step in. Calm voice, confident posture, no obvious grudge or resentment. Just Batman offering to lead the mission after all.

He's shaking. His heart is burning in his chest, pounding like a jackhammer against his ribs, and there's a trembling, aching rage building beneath his tongue and pressing against his teeth.

In his hands, his fingers tense and wrists locked, the article reads in big, black font: JOKER LOCKED IN ARKHAM ASYLUM AGAIN!

Danny shouldn't feel so angry about this, this is a good thing. Gotham doesn't have to deal with him for another few months at the least. He should feel relieved, a little more at peace.

He is not.

He cannot swallow the fury thudding behind his eyes, the burning white heat searing a deeper hole in his chest. A searing green filling static in his ears in the way only the rage of the restless dead can have.

How is he going to kill him now?

Arkham may be the only asylum in America made entirely of tissue paper, but it's still an asylum. There are cameras, guards, other patients resting inside. Danny can think of a million different ways to sneak in and kill Joker, but someone will hear his screaming.

It'd have to be rushed.

He doesn't want it to be rushed.

It's a cruel thought. Cruel and cold and merciless, but Danny doesn't feel an ounce of shame, not an ounce of guilt, for it. He wants to be alone with the Joker when he kills him, that's all he wants. In Arkham, you are never alone.

He forces his anger to bubble back down into his chest, stuffing it between his heartstrings and his ribs like a blanket you're trying to bunch up into a corner. It sizzles and burbles. The static begins to fade out into a high-pitched ringing; it sounds like distant screaming.

Danny is still trembling, but he can think a little clearer now.

He can wait.

He can wait. He can wait. He can wait. He canwait. Hecanwait. Hecanwait.

He can wait.

He's waited five years for this. He can wait one more week. One more month. One more year. However long it takes for the Joker to break back out, Danny can wait.

And when the Joker does, inevitably, break out.

Danny uncrinkles his fingers around the edges of the newspaper, loosens his limbs just enough so he can pay for it.

He'll be waiting.

The dead, after all, have all the time in the world.
