Hey guys, if you could pray for me and my parents I'd be really grateful. The last cat in our old brigade, Tansy, is almost 15 and at the end of her days. She tends to get sick from allergies during the spring and she's had a rough winter and she's just, she's not going to make it through this time and she's been SUCH a good cat her whole life that we're not gonna let her suffer through it to the end. We're hoping we can get an appointment to get her put down tomorrow (that sounds awful saying it, but she's miserable and I can't watch her suffer she doesn't deserve that), so we would really appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

#cats #tansy #tw pet death #cw pet death #the only good(?) thing about this is that it's not sudden like baby tulip #I have known this was coming and been preparing for it mentally for months now #she took a turn for the worse today tho despite all our efforts to help her keep going #I *think* she might have a tumor in her cheek that suddenly got very malignant #she has a lot of the symptoms #and I think that + the allergy sickness she usually gets is just too much for her #but she has lived a GOOD life #and she KNOWS we love her #she is INCREDIBLY intelligent #she's sid's adoptive mama #like she straight up adopted a stray half-grown half-starved kitten #and TRAINED IT #to be her friend a hunter and a guardian of our home #she literally taught sid everything he knows #I'll post a little memorial for her when she does pass with pictures #because she has such unique and beautiful coloring #she's a torti #and SO sweet #she is literally one of the best cats we have EVER had #I'll miss her terribly <3

the ghost-moose gave me a child today so Cyclone and Rain are now older siblings to Windy!

#pixel cats end #there's five of them now #i have my village since midsummer and it took two (in-game) seasons for nestor to offer a child #only have adults until now too #whereas i've seen other newbies' first nestor cats to be kittens #originally thought this is due to me setting everyone to 'no' for adoptive beans but apparently that didn't matter?#i'm like 96% sure i set oxeye and orion (cy and rain's parents) to 'no' as well before today.

there should really be like. a peer support network for people who work/volunteer in animal rescue and care. because good god it's needed

#nonsense radio #(pet death tw for the rest of the tags)#(it's kind of just a vent so feel free to ignore)#the bastard foster kitten died today #it's really hard to guess at the cause but i think he just had problems with being able to handle any kind of stress #he was doing so poorly at the rescue and rebounded when we brought him home to a (marginally) calmer and quieter environment #but he got worse again after that and we weren't able to help him recover again #my mom is really blaming herself for taking him back at all but i don't think it's her fault in the slightest #even if it hadn't happened now it would have happened when he struggled to adjust to his new home after getting adopted #and we couldn't possibly have kept him #i'm not really feeling anything yet and to be honest i feel guilty about that but it's just due to. the everything #haven't had a chance to process because i've been dealing with The Child while mom dealt with all this #the kitten's name was lilbit although he had a different name at the rescue #now that he won't be publicly posted with that name anywhere i feel fine disclosing the name we gave him #it just feels weird continuing to call him The Bastard Foster Kitten somehow #he was a sweet little guy even if he was a force for chaos (as all kittens are)#broken paw girl + broken pelvis boy + the little bean are all doing alright by the way!#the little bean looks a lot like lilbit so i've been calling him the squeakquel although i think i posted about that already

i'm doing so many vet things! i'm doing them! i'm trying to hold onto wins. i did an epidural! i gave a cow a comically large gel capsule! I took an endometrial biopsy! i diagnosed metritis! I helped some classmates find ovaries on palpation! I am improving at retracting a uterus! it's hard not to let my general feeling of Professional Inadequacy be overwhelming but gdi i am improving little by little

#also win: saw a tiny orange kitten #did not adopt it but good lord the temptation to just tuck it into the front pocket of my overalls #he could be my assistant! truck cat #also i spent most of today palpating and i got major noodle arm rn and a cow smashed my hand yesterday my left side is getting hammered

I got up today and checked the kitten's page and it looks like she's been adopted so a little sad but also happy cause she got adopted!

what I was not expecting was for my brother to be so excited abt the prospect of getting another cat that he'd find the website and look for her page when he got up. He came out in the living room like 'she got adopted ☹️'

#I'm happy she got adopted! that's always what you want! she wasn't meant to be in this house but at least she got a home!#I think I'm gonna look again *after* the 4th tho.... that's a SUPER stressful holiday for the babies 😔 so I want it to be a calm time #if I get a kitten.....#we'll see. idk I just feel like that whole experience was like. yeah. maybe I *should* do this. idk.#I'm just like. IDK. but I'm like that with everything in life. Things that happened today:

I was working from home which actually means that I flexed my hours so I answered emails on my phone while I was out and am now actually doing work

I went to thrift stores trying to find cat stuff before the shelter opened

I went in with the intention of possibly adopting tadpole, the kitten I met yesterday, and they were like hey by the way she has a brother that’s still here do you want to meet him too and after spending two hours petting them while they laid in my lap I decided to adopt both of them because I love them so much even if it was a lot more money than I was planning to spend

I get twenty feet out of the spca parking lot and run over a nail which gives me an immediate flat tire, road side assistance that usually covers these things for free decided that I’m no longer covered by it so I had to pay 60 bucks for someone to come out and put the spare on

I have to drive for work so I was going to have to call in sick for work tomorrow to go get it fixed if I didn’t get it fixed right away so I go to Sam’s club and they initially say they can fix it and then say that it actually has a tire that needs to be special ordered and wouldn’t be there for five days and also that they don’t think anyone would have that size tire on hand because it’s small?

I decide to try the good year down the road in a last ditch effort and they said they don’t usually have that tire but they do today and 180 dollars later my car was fixed

Got home waaaay later than I meant to and am now working, the kitties got scared while the spare was being put on and had a major accident in the crate and they won’t let me clean them but otherwise they’re settling in well and I love them so much

#I spent so much money today I’m working hard on not losing my mind over it #the cats did keep me calm when all of this was going down though #it was so cold and the triple A person was like it’ll be about an hour and a half and I was like um I have kittens in the car I just adopted #and they were like okay it’ll be thirty minutes lol #their names at the spca were tadpole and froglet which are very cute but I was planning to rename tadpole hope and now I’m thinking I’ll #rename froglet luck it’s still up in the air though #in the third picture they’re laying one on top of the other in between my legs lmao

May not feel great rn but tomorrow I get to see my best friend and we’re exchanging gifts and then afterward I’m going with my sister to pick up a cat

#I don’t talk about this best friend on here a lot lately but he’s great and I love him #platonically and romantically #I’ve had a crush on him for uhh 9 years teehee #he doesn’t know I still feel that way or at least I hope he doesn’t because I don’t wanna make him uncomfy #we dated back in 2013 but I was a pos then and cheated on him because I give in to peer pressure #I’m serious about that btw like the chick that convinced me to cheat when we were official I went over to a friends house and she thought I #would cheat on her because I was so easy to convince the first time lmao #anyway that was forever ago and I am very very different now and would kill past me tbh for that teehee #this is the best friend that stayed with me after I cut off everyone because they stayed friends with my abuser #he’s literally the fucking best and I love him so much and I hope we always stay friends despite my Crazy lol #but also CAT INFOOOO okay so me and my sister went to our local pet store and they partner with a specific shelter? idk I can’t give the #name out because the only pet store listed on their website is the one we go to and that’s too much info about where I live lmao #ANYWAY I was more just showing her the two 4 month old brothers I saw the other day because they’re cute and I was hoping I’d see they were #adopted which they weren’t but they’re chatty kittens they’ll be gone soon tbh probably snatched up for Christmas #but so I had just been there two days ago on the 16th and we went on the 18th and one new cat was there #a 1 1/2 year old black cat named Morticia!! she was so cute they had a hot pink collar and bell on her and her file said she gets along well #with dogs and other cats (perfect for us we live with our parents still so full house) and it said she loves to be held and talked to ☹️☹️☹️#and her arrival date? the 16th so I just missed her but ALSO that’s one of our family dog’s birthday he turned 5 that day!!#also learned today Morticia had three kittens who have all been adopted and you’ll never guess their names #Wednesday pugsly and thing teehee #the fact that cat is just named Thing is so fucking funny #anyway my sister was petting her and she rolled into it ☹️ got head scratches and ear rubs and THEN I was filling out the application for he #while we waited for our parents to call us back and Morticia LAID HER HEAD IN MY SISTERS HAND ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️#so yeah my sister fell in love and the naming matches so well with her other cat who is about 2 years old now who’s a long haired tortoise #named Magnolia !! she’s a really chill cat who when it comes to other cats if the cat likes her she likes the cat but she’s also the younges #cat we have rn but my cats half adore her and half dgaf like my older two just want to be left alone by the animals and loved on by humans #but my younger two (8 and 5) still act like babies and run around like kittens so they love magnolia and she loves them so I have no doubt #Morticia is gonna fit in just fine and we don’t have to change her name!!#idk about y’all but we like always change our pets’ names when we adopt them and sometimes I’m glad we do because we have an anxious big #mutt doggie and we named him Chimmy which worked out well because he’s kinda silly and goofy and yknow neurodivergent but his og name?

Choosing a kitten to adopt is ROUGH

#missed the call to schedule a meet with Posey but I should hear back from them tomorrow and she’s Adorable #Rue is precious and started purring the second I picked her up #Macy and Roxy are precious and the whole fam already likes them (they’re my aunt’s current fosters) but I can’t Seperate Them #Marcus is a sweet lil guy he just needs socialized and some more oil in his diet #Unnamed Black Kitten One of Three was SO BRAVE he was DOING HIS BEST (had just been transferred to that location Today)#Marylin Monroe is a little PUFFBALL and is so far one of two tabby cats my mom has approved of #(Macy and Roxy are Technically tabbies and as such my mom is arguing if I want a tabby to get one of them)#(Macy and Roxy are also DEFINITELY PART SAVANNAH CAT so I’d argue they don’t count as ‘basic’ brown tabbies but eh #Unnamed Kitten Number Four (white seal point edition) is one of the cutest kittens I’ve seen but is a five hour round trip away so uh. yea #and we’re going to another shelter tomorrow! apparently it’s where my parents adopted my childhood dog #so as this kitten will be my first pet adoption my mom is Very Excited for those parallels #anyways cat that currently has my vote is Rue with Roxy in second and Macy tied with Posey in third #the current agreement is mother tries to convince my dad to have three full time cats so we can adopt Macy and Roxy OR #is someone adopts Just One we’ll take the other

AHHHHHHHHH i had such a nice experience at quarantine again today!! the cats were happy to see us and we showered them with love :’) and i was able to corner one of the feral kittens and he let me pet him for a couple minutes which is progress!!

#the real icing on the cake though was seeing christine (the mom & kittens' caretaker) again #we found out today that she actually knows our dad because he treated her a while ago #and she said he was the nicest doctor she'd ever met and if she saw him again she'd tell him all about us and how grateful she is :^)#she also misplaced her keys about 40 minutes before we had to leave and spent the rest of the time lowkey panicking over it #and right as my brother and i left i moved something on the windowsill and her keys fell out LOL #i think i've become her new personal hero #but like!!! she's so nice and she truly cares about cats!!! and she Gets Us!!!#she kept saying that she really trusts us and asked us a lot of questions about how to care for cats and what cats are likely to be adopted #and at the end of our shift when we were about to leave she came up to our car to thank us again and discuss our next shift #it's just so nice to be appreciated and actually feel like i'm doing a Good Thing that will have a positive lifelong impact for these cats #and thus concludes my Cat Update.

I haven't had electricity for two days now and life is so boring. I don't know what to do with myself when I'm not working

#i adopted a kitten the day i lost electricity and she just loves exploring the apartment #she is not phased by the lack of power #i worry a lot about my food going to waste though #i brought my freezer stuff to my parents but the fridge stuff idk #i put ice packs in but it just doesn't feel cold in there #damn freezing rain #my post #I'm working today exceptionally because of the holiday so at least that'll keep me busy

#ss original #cat cafe. always the cat cafe #look. they have like 10-20 kittens and cats in there at any given time #and its $8 for an hour in the cat room #and they make bomb m&m milkshakes #what am i to do. but partake #the ones in today were soooo sweet and cuddley 🥺#theres a really tiny kitten that is fluffy as hell and has very long whispy whiskers lol #both on the cheeks and above the eyes #and its sooooo soft #and it looks like the old cranky one that was there for like two months finally got adopted!!!#her name was missy and she was always asleep up on the cat shelf thing in there #hope shes doing good
