one of my favourite eurovision things is when eurovision artists make songs about being at eurovision or do special renditions of their songs for national finals. here are some special ones:

Ieva's song is so soft and lovely and the video really makes it. I loved the class of 2018 so much to watch and this song is a lovely tribute to them, and a perfect companion to 'when we're old'. It carries such joy of people from all over Europe coming together and having fun and I love it

summer of my life makes me cry so bad. it's so happy, so sad. I was clearing out my old pictures the other week and it was just full of Eurovision 2019 memes and KEiiNO pics and Hatari stuff and oh I miss that summer. I'm so happy KEiiNO came together as a band (even if I was rooting so hard for Alexandra and Stella Mwangi in the previous MGP, sorry Alexander Rybak). Every song of theirs is so fantastic but this is a love song to the best days, and I watched them and every day I miss them - from excitedly showing spirit in the sky to a friend on a bus when it came out, to requesting they cover only teardrops when they needed a second song - I watched every step of that Eurovision, the wiwiblogs livestream, the rehearsal clips, the preparties, and I loved it. My uni exams were over and it was the summer of my life

Tix's winner's reprise at MGP 2022 is so special to me. His glasses are off, the show is gone and we are left with a man and his song that means so much to him. And then we hit the last chorus and every single one of my Norwegian lessons paid off. This is fallen angel, one year later, solid and confident, saying 'du er ingen fallen engel. Vi vil aldri la deg gå'. I had to write an essay at uni about the power of switching pronouns and Tix really shows the power of turning 'I' to 'you'

Dadi has such a talent for making beauty out of the most clear cut language. It's the poetry of simplicity - 'this is the beginning, this is not the end' - has me weeping, every time.

This genre of music is so special. It's about eurovision being a journey, a shining glorious moment in a musical story. Each of these artists put so much in and as a result, they get so much out. It is not the end, but a beginning, a place to grow with and from. Just seeing them turn around and address Eurovision (my beloved, much memed upon and mocked Eurovision) with such sincerity is so lovely and I will always love songs like it

Liam was a boy, and then a man, who suffered so much trauma and pain. He was bullied as a child and then lived a nightmare that I think none of us can really imagine of having that triggering experience replicated on a literally global public scale. He became a man who inflicted trauma on others. He was an addict who was unable to find a way out of that disease, and now never will, but who was open and vulnerable about his struggles. He was an incredibly talented musician and artist and an absolutely integral part of one of the most important bands of a generation; his voice and songwriting and skill in the studio shaped every aspect of what One Direction became at their best. He loved that band and being a part of that experience with his whole being and would never have stopped celebrating what they meant to us and to the world. He had problems and did bad things; that doesn't mean he was a bad person who didn't deserve to be loved and helped to heal- everyone deserves that- and the fact that that's not something that can ever happen now is devastating. I was very distressed by many of his actions; and I cared deeply about this man I didn't know and wished for better for him than this outcome.

I'm so deeply, deeply SAD tonight. I'm sad for Liam, who will never now have the chance to look back on this hard time and reflect on how far he's come, and for Liam's family, for his parents and his sisters who loved and supported him so much, and for everyone in the 1D band family and circles. And I'm sad for us. It feels like nothing will ever be quite the same, and that's hard and sad and shocking. It's a special kind of doubled grief, to mourn the loss of the person, and also of what he meant to us in this strange world of parasocial fanning, for the real him and also for the version of him that we made up and attached so much meaning to and for the escape that brought us. For him, and also for the easy uncomplicated joy of listening to those beautiful songs from happier times, which might never feel the same again. For the other boys, who we love so much and wish we could shield from suffering and loss and pain. For our fellow fans, who we also worry about the impact of this on. Everything about this is terrible, and I am sending so much love out to all of you. We are not alone, and it's okay to feel complicated emotions and it's okay to mourn and it's okay to care about how it effects you and your life, whatever you're feeling- it's okay. We are here with you. We are 1D family.

This is my favourite pasta recipe it’s from melissa clark’s dinner cookbook and it’s so delicious + easy. you can sub the burrata for another soft cheese (i use mascarpone) that is less wildly expensive also i suggest dicing your garlic and cooking the white parts of the green onion with the tomatoes but it’s a very forgiving recipe.

I have seen exactly 1 episode of Blue Eye Samurai and I am gobsmacked by how amazing it is. Mizu is already my everything. I am almost never so deeply invested so quickly in any media. I am obsessed. If the rest of the show is consistent in quality with the first episode then this show is Arcane level incredible, and I do not say that lightly.
