Thorne hears all the stories about how when some women go into labour they turn on their husbands: screaming at them, yelling, "you did this to me!", squeezing his hand so hard that it breaks. Thorne has seen Cinder when she's angry, and Thorne loves his bro Kai. He doesn't want him to suffer.

So when Cinder's in labour, Thorne rocks up in his sunnies and leather jacket and swagger, plops down in the seat next to her bed, and pulls out a bag of the greasiest fast food imaginable. Cinder is not allowed to eat, but--if only the doctors and nurses weren't around as witnesses--she is allowed to kill. Needless to say, Kai is spared from any anger, and the anger actually helps her push through her contractions. She just imagines that she's inflicting that pain onto Thorne, and cursing the fact that he will never experience childbirth.

Later, when the euphoria of her perfect newborn distracts her from all calls to vengeance, Cinder assures Kai that she would have never lashed out at him no matter how much pain she endured. But Thorne foolishly comments that he 'basically delivered that baby himself' by giving her something to channel her pain onto.

Famous. Last. Words.

When Thorne has to get his tonsils removed, he has to fast beforehand. He isn't allowed to eat for a long time afterwards either, and--being under anesthesia--he is very hungry and very loopy when he wakes up. Cress is trying to comfort him as he blubbers about his stolen tonsils, and who would waltz in but Cinder. She says, "Aww, you were so brave! What a big boy!" and proceeds to pull out his favourite burger, and fries, and dips, and drink, and eats it reeeaaaal close to his face.

Thorne bursts into tears.

My last post had a thing about Cress encouraging Jacin to peruse his doctor dream while they were stuck in the castle in book 4, and I was then thinking about Jacin graduating from med school, and Cress being like a proud mother and blubbering everywhere and taking like hundreds of photos and hugging him and he's like trying not to be pleased and soppy but Cress' support and believing in him made so much difference to him and I'm not crying you are

Before Thorne gets the bioelectricity lock installed, Cinder sometimes glamours her voice into his and says ridiculous things to mess with him. At first it totally creeps him out but he starts to find it hilarious. Then he progresses to asking her: "how would I look in a mullet?" and she'll glamour herself to look like him in all kinds of stupid styles. Then he gets the device and can no longer see the glamour anyway, but he still begs her to go meet his parents glamoured as him so he doesn't have to. She says no.

Happy 2023, everyone!!! I started off the new year in the middle of drawing fanart, so that checks out. May the new year bring many more late-night fanart drawing sessions!

hopefully I’ll be a little more active and active POST the art that I make (I have a bad habit of just keeping them in my photo app, and that kinda leads to me not being able to show my art style progress haha)
