Hullo! I’ve been watching a bunch of your Timelapses and I was wondering how do you always come up with the colours for your pieces? They’re always so cohesive and pleasing to look at (I almost exclusively work in greyscale so if I’m using colour it’s always a lucky guess and it never looks quite right)
Hey there!
I have to be honest that most of the time I don't actually know what I'm doing and that I have no idea how most of my pieces are gonna turn out. My work process is usually based on "Fuck around and find out", haha. I'm happy to know that it apparently doesn't come across that way, though.
A lot of it comes very naturally to me simply because I've been drawing non-stop for so long, but I can give you some small tips that really help me:
1. Have as many references as possible!
Here's what my reference sheet looked like for the Jayvik piece:
Tumblr media
It helped me a lot to understand the overall color scheme I wanted to convey. Lots of very cold tones, pinks and very light blues and greens. These colours sorround Jayce and Viktor throughout all of season 2 and I wanted to keep them, especially since in my piece they are lying in the glowing hexcore.
Don't shy away from using references, get as many as you possibly can! Look at other poeple's art too and try to understand how they work with colours.
2. Work with complementary colours!
Since I paint a lot of romantic illustrations I want them to look pleasing and comforting, which I can accomplish by using complementary colours! You see this a lot with couples that are blue and red coded, for example. And I wanted to do the same thing in the Jayvik piece! For that I used the highlights in their hair!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Viktor's highlights are a soft pink hue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Jayce's are a soft blue hue.
The colour wheel works perfect for figuring out if two colors compliment each other because they are literally right across from one another!
3. It doesn't have to be true to life.
Pretty self-explanatory, but I thought I'd add it in here anyways. It's important to understand how colour and light works, but you don't always have to follow the rules. Does the rim light look cool but it makes zero sense? Who cares! Keep the cool rim light! Just have fun and fuck around.
4. A little trick to make your life easier!
I'm not excatly the best at colour theory, I still struggle with it quite a bit, but here's a little trick I like to use from time to time:
If you want all your colours to look coherent, take one specific color as your flat colour. Choose a hue that you would like your piece to have. Like this:
Tumblr media
Now you choose whatever colours your characters have and paint them in. For example, here are the skin colours I chose for Jayce and Viktor:
Tumblr media
Looks off, right? These colours don't fit the overall piece at all. So what do we do?
Turn down the opacity! It's that easy, wahoo!
Tumblr media
I went from 100 Opacity to 72 for this specific illustration. And look at that!
Tumblr media
It's so much nicer already! Now you know what colours to use as your actual flats! Just repeat this with every other part of your illustration and you'll have a great starting point. :)
I really hope this was helpful! I'm not an actual teacher and I don't have a proper illustration degree, so some things might not be completely accurate, but I thought I'd try my hand at this anyways!

Judgements from others is never personal, so stop treating it like it is.
Some people may think you’re too skinny or too fat, too wild or too boring, or too loud or too quiet. But it is only if you agree with their judgements, that it’ll become your truth.
Don’t torture yourself by associating with something that has nothing to do with you because when you do identify with someone else’s lowly judgements of you, you are agreeing to a mindset of self-sabotage.
People who take judgments personally, constantly live in paralyzing fear of what others think of them, which is a waste of time because they’ll be judged anyways — Understand that people’s judgements are not something to be internalized, neither something to be controlled. It is simply just something not to align or identify yourself with.
Make the choice to live your best life regardless of outside judgments. Remain unbothered, self-focused and self-validated. Don’t let what others think define you. Define yourself. Have the mindset of, “I’m not who you say I am. I am that I am.”
Stop replaying painful memories — of when people aimed their judgements towards you, in order to plant guilt and insecurities into your psyche. Free yourself by detaching and disassociating. Let these memories go and understand that it was never personal anyways. (Spiteful people always project their own insecurities unto others because they want you to be as miserly as they are).
You can either choose to disassociate and not take judgements personally, or you can cause yourself pain by identifying with the judgements and hurtful opinions of others.
The choice is yours.

totally not asking this cuz im interested in doing this or anything but uhhhhh
how does one make an au........ or how do you go about making yours?
Honestly it’s easier than it looks.
How wonderland formed was when I compared the two medias and saw how somewhat similar they are and decided to make it for fun.
I suggest an easy one for your first like tadc x undertale or something.
But if you want a more original idea, just ask yourself a what if question and how you can transform it into its own story.
For an example: @sm-baby’s carnival au asks the question; what if the main characters were ai instead of players. But still dives into the characters emotional turmoil.
Another: @allhailthequeenuwu’s madness au is taking wonderland and undertale with Tadc, but conveys some storylines from the two medias that creates its own narrative.
You can even just go for genre change or whatever you’re fond of. @ark-fork’s digital horror land makes tadc but in a fun horror focused story. Creating character designs that fit the genre and story. And @pikavani’s office au is based on the office and their fondness for the slice of life.
It can even be just world building and cute interactions like @vikita-doodles’s digital world au.
Really, it just depends on you! What are your interests and what are your ideas you want to explore. Even if it’s focused on a favorite ship or just a nonsensical idea, go for it!
Just look into your favorite au’s, stories, interests, and characters and just go nuts with it.
Will it be perfect? Heck no, there’s many flaws in our own storytelling that only makes us love it more. Explore as much as you want and can cause it’s great foundation in making your own original story for folks to gush about. Even if it’s an au.

Guys. I’m at a family reunion. In a bedroom. A nearly silent room save for the drones of family’s phones. And I am sleeping here. Now is the time when I finally get to look at ao3 and browse my safe lil corner of the internet. But no, because under no circumstance can anyone in my family know what I’m doing (the clacking of the keys is so loud that I’m basically cringing.)
AND I AM HERE FOR A WEEK. HOW DOES ONE SURVIVE A FAMILY REUNION FOR A WEEK SANS BEING RIDICULED OR LOSING ONE’S MIND?! I DON’T THINK I CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT MY DEAD GAY WIZARDS. PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU, BEAUTIFUL GAYS AND ALLIES, WHAT DO I DO.j

What is the forgetting curve and how do you combat it?
The Forgetting Curve shows the process by which forgetting occurs. It demonstrates that if we learn something new, but then make no attempt to revise that information, we remember less and less of it as the hours, days and weeks go by. The forgetting curve is a memory model created by German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus. In fact, according to the curve, you forget:
50% of all new information within a day.
90% of all new information within a week.
HOW TO BEAT THE FORGETTING CURVE:
1) USE SPACED REPETITION
The easiest way to overcome the forgetting curve is by using spaced repetition. This means to reinforce your knowledge of whatever you are learning, by reviewing constantly at periodic intervals. There are multiple techniques such as flash cards, active recall and blurting.
2) OVER-LEARNING AND CLARITY
This means using far more intensive memory techniques to put more amount of effort in whatever subject that you are learning. This enables deep work and broadens your understanding, which creates clarity.
3)KEEP THINGS RELEVANT
This means to make an effort to make the material that you need, to be clear, concise and meaningful without anything that is irrelevant from an exam point of view. This involves also using various techniques for your notes. Rather than writing everything down in lengthy text formats, present information in diagrams or graphics where possible. This makes it easier to learn and improves retention.
4)MAKE LEARNING MORE INTERACTIVE
People learn better when they’re actively involved than when they’re just passive observers. This involves using various resources and gamifying your learning experience through flash cards, mini quizzes and mock tests to reinforce your learning and making it engaging.
Love,
Mith<3

I have to draw a lot of gold and metal for my work, but wasn't happy with any of the metal tutorials i could find around. I prefer really specific instruction, so after some research i put together what i think works as a generalist's guide/tutorial. Not perfectly accurate, but i hope it's helpful!

REBLOGS ARE OFF CAUSE THIS GUIDE IS TERRIBLE AND YOU DESERVE BETTER
I will instead redirect you to THIS more comprehensive guide, and cobalt.tools. Cobalt solves the problem of low quality video when you're done with VLC, and it can also take videos from a dozen other social media platforms.
Support the cobalt dev and the better guide writer, not me. I'm just a person who boiled down a wikihow guide and a youtube tutorial into a TLDR. I did not do very much work. They have.
I might turn reblogs back on, but for now I implore you to put your attention where it's needed most. Thanks for understanding. (original post under the cut)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

thinking abt the fact that you can do ANYTHING by just using the manifestation of energy that lives in a silly little organ inside your head 😵‍💫 and i mean ANYTHING
you CAN change your appearance, you CAN change your connections with others, you CAN change your talents / skills / intelligence, you CAN change your self-concept, you can even change your health to be EVEN BETTER than it may have been before...
all of this is possible. no matter what you're working towards, it's POSSIBLE and guess what? you have ALREADY achieved it; so don't cling to what you see in the 3d. you KNOW you have everything you desire, so act like you do. if you already have your results, there's no need to look for them in the 3d, right? therefore, instead of constantly searching for results, ingrain it into your mind that you DO have all of your desires already ( because that's the truth! )
your subconscious will believe what you tell it, so keep in mind what information you feed it as well! of course, it's perfectly normal to have doubts or worries regarding your manifesting sometimes, but correcting your negative thoughts after will ensure that the subconscious OVERWRITES the negative information which it originally received, and that helps reinforce the fact in your mind that you already have everything that you're aiming for.
your desires are all YOURS; they're not going anywhere, and they're here with you to stay ( always have been ). you got this <3 remember to stay hydrated, and have a great day today!!
