Indigo Park Time Frame?

Hey there, so I watched a playthrough of Indigo Park and it's apparently the new thing my brain has decided to focus on. I thought I was immune to mascot horror after my FNAF fixation died about a decade ago but whoops, apparently not Anyway, I watched this video wherein UniqueGeese says the game canonically takes place in 2023 (time stamp is 6:06 if you want to skip to it) and it made me think back to this scene:

Someone much smarter than me has probably already done the maths for this but I got curious and decided to try and do it anyway. That time adds up to 7 years and 11 months. Meaning the park presumably shut down in 2015. The game does give us enough information to be more precise though. Now originally, I did a bunch of sleuthing here using the date and time given in the roadcam footage we see early on and other bits of context we get given by the game to figure out what the date Ed shows up to the park was... only to somehow completely miss the fact that the game gives you that information directly at the registration center 💀 So here's that:

On the bright side though, after doing the math before I saw this I can safely say the date I figured out was right using the information we're given ingame. So kudos to the dev team for their consistency with that! Regardless, if we trace that date back using the time frame Rambley gives us, that means Indigo Park shut down and was evacuated on October 8th 2015.

This correlates with the newspaper we see on Ed's desk in the opening of the game. That said, this newspaper seems to only report on the sudden evacuation of the park on October 22nd?

Ended up a touch Aeryn-heavy this year, though Generic WoL, various NPCs, the other OCs, forays in the FC's AUs, and some supporting family cast members make appearances. There's even a callback to a previous FFXIV Write entry. Lots of Endwalker and Dawntrail due to recency bias, but it manages to span the spectrum from backstories through various expansions.

I only did 1 Free Day, due to having 2 solid ideas I ended up writing for that prompt. It was right at the end of my annual birthday vacation week, so I was pretty rested (may also be why they're among the longer entries!). Unusually, the rest of that week's works are not any longer than the others.

I'm also still working on some original writing, though, so that did cut into fanfiction time.

Total: 20,382 words. Not my shortest but far from my longest. Comparing with the previous years, I can see a clear improvement in my grasp of both NPC and OC voices, and more confidence in general.

Even so, "Butte", "Sally", "Bar", and "Zip" were the hardest for me this year, and I may need to warm up to them. I love "Halcyon" for a lot of reasons, and am also fond of the lighter offerings in "Duel" and "On Cloud Nine." I like a lot of the others, particularly when trying to get into NPC heads (even if they're really weird places to be ffs, Zenos).

Not too many shippy entries this year, one of them for one of the AUs, one mostly talking about it rather than seeing it, but I like "Hackneyed" a lot as it's been awhile since I've written about Aeryn & Thancred's literary tastes (and opposite ways of treating their books).

These will eventually be revised and added to Ao3, and then we await next year!

Dead Friend Forever: Squicks and Triggers

Hello friends, I am here to sing my praises for Dead Friend Forever and implore as many people as possible to watch it. I know that it is in the horror/slasher genre and there are some pretty heavy things going on in it, so in case you want to jump aboard the incredible writing, story-boarding, editing train that is DFF but are worried about the content, here are as many of the possible squicks and triggers I could find. Rewatching TFP-

Giving you commentary of episode 6 -Masters and Students.

(I would talk about episodes 1 - 5, except I watched them yesterday and it made me realise that they stress me the hell out. Instead I’m going to cover episodes that don’t stress me out nearly as much)

Also I watch Transformers Prime on Stan (I’m pretty sure Stan is only in Australia, but it’s a streaming service and has every episode of TFP), so if any of these time stamps don’t match up, I’m sorry.

Not saying much about the first part because it’s pretty much as seen.

02:52 - scenes like these where it’s just Ratchet and Optimus cannot be viewed without at least one ‘this is proof their marriage certificate exists’ moments.

03:14 - and there it is. Optimus literally just when ‘mm’ and Ratchet immediately switched up his approach, the second approach worked significantly better.

03:44 - I like how you can tell Optimus has significantly larger strides when running compared to Ratchet. He started off further away, but arrived faster and closer.

Just makes it sound so regal, then you remember it’s the word ‘Bumblebee’. + Optimus had no reason as to choose Bumblebee (aside from plot), Bulkhead was most likely not needed because we saw Miko’s project was pretty much complete and Jack was most likely the only one that would require assistance from Ratchet as Arcee was clearly no help.

14:22 - Now that I think about it… odds are, Skyquake isn’t calling Bee ‘bug’ because his name is ‘Bumblebee’, instead it’s more likely he called Bee ‘bug’ because he considers him a small inconvenience that could simply be squished. I feel ashamed that it’s taken me this long.

14:39 - Bee’s face rises ever so slightly- he’s obviously happy, it’s just that I never noticed it.

14:58 - See? He’s distracting the bots and giving Skyquake a vehicle mode.

Laniece Dorsey, 17 (USA 1986)

17-year-old Laniece Dorsey underwent a legal abortion at a Family Planning Associates facility in Orange County, California. Because of this, she never saw her 18th birthday.

On February 6, 1986, abortionist Kenneth Wright carried out the surgical abortion. Laniece soon lapsed into a coma. She was taken to a local hospital, but died later that same day.

The autopsy discovered a “thick adherent layer of fibrinous material containing moderate numbers of inflammatory infiltrates” in Laniece’s uterus. However, the medical examiner decided to list the cause of death as cardio-respiratory arrest as a complication of anesthesia.

Wright was sued for Laniece’s death. He already had a long history of malpractice lawsuits. These included but were not limited to permanent disability from injuries, “abortions” on people who were not even pregnant, and denying clients informed consent by failing to disclose risks of abortion. He was still allowed to continue his career as an abortionist, killing Josefina Garcia (he was listed as a co-defendant in her death) and Kimberly K. Neil.

The FPA corporation was founded, owned and operated by Edward “Fast Eddie” Allred. He and his facilities were accused of racism, which allegedly contributed to the subpar treatment and resulting deaths of Patricia Chacon, Mary Pena and Ta Tanisha Wesson. Allred showed his attitude towards pregnant Black teens like Laniece when he gave the following statement in an article in the San Diego Union:

“When a sullen black woman of 17 or 18 can decide to have a baby and get welfare and food stamps and become a burden to all of us, it’s time to stop. In parts of South Los Angeles, having babies for welfare is the only industry these people have.”

The abortion facility that killed Laniece was a member of the National Abortion Federation. FPA facilities have been granted this status despite a massive list of lawsuits, including client deaths. Women and girls killed by Edward Allred’s corporate empire of facilities include Denise Holmes, 16-year-old Patricia Chacon, Mary Pena, Josefina Garcia, Joyce Ortenzio, 19-year-old Tami Suematsu, Ta Tanisha Wesson, 13-year-old Deanna Bell, 16-year-old Nakia “Kia” Jorden, Maria Leho, Susan Levy, 18-year-old Christine Mora, Emmeko Reed, Maria E. Rodriguez, Chanelle Bryant and Kenniah Epps.
