TAG Transcripts | Masterpost
So, I'm making a start on organising all of my previous content and I'm starting with Transcripts!
And the reason I'm starting with these is because when I came back and was able to look at messages etc (as opposed to the late night reading I made fanfics) there were a lot asking about these with quite a few questions - so firstly, Q & A;
Where can the transcripts be found? They can now be found on this masterpost, but also back on my 2016 post!
Are all the episodes available? Series 1 is complete, Series 2 is mostly complete, Series 3 is unstarted
Will I finish them? Yes, if there is this level of interest of course I will, but episodes can take a while to transcribe so it may not be a quick process!
Do I make a profit? No. This is something I started doing as a fan, for fans as someone who's previously found issues with subtitles not appearing or being incorrect.
Can I download a copy? Yes, from my mediafire links in word or PDF format
Why can't the documents be edited, copy & pasted? The documents are password protected, yes, because a lot of work goes into them and if they're going to be re-distributed I would appreciate the credit or an update of where they're being shared, so no they cannot be directly copied and pasted
Feel free to reblog and share though, Thunderfam, as these were made for you to enjoy!
Tumblr media
And before there are questions as to where the link can be found on this masterpost, let's put that here!
Above is the link for the TAG transcripts (I have TOS completed but will post this separately).
What can be found here at the moment:
Series 1
in Word & PDF format
25 files per folder
All episodes completed - Ring of Fire is in one combined set
Series 2
in Word & PDF format
Available episodes - 17; Earthbreaker (1) City Under the Sea (4) Colony (5) Up from the Depths I (6) - will be added shortly (amending pieces) Up from the Depths II (7) Volcano (14) Power Play (15) Bolt from the Blue (16) Attack of the Reptiles (17) Grandma Tourismo (18) Clean Sweap (19) The Man from TB5 (20) Home on the Ranch (21) Long Haul (22) Rigged for Disaster (23) Inferno (24) Hyerspeed (25) Brains vs Brawn (26)
I will aim to finish the episodes outstanding here and then start on Series 3, but this will be amongst all my other work but I will do my best to get there!
Okay, I think this is the part of the post where you can cheer for joy :)

Sunday doodle 8/11/24
Pitched this idea last week and got some positive responses so here’s one part of my new project. You know where it’s a collection of sketches and letters set in a steampunk alternate history world where some guy is traveling through Deseret, drawing cool stuff he sees and trying to convince his friend back home that he’s not going to get murdered by the Mormons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Letter transcript:
My Dear Friend Victor,
As my previous letter was sent from a rather dubious, yet reliable location, I anticipate that this letter shall outpace it and reach you first. As such, I shall briefly recount its contents.
First you must know that I am well and relatively unscathed. When I arrived in St George I believed all my rough traveling behind me and it would be airships all the way to Salt Lake. Hardly thirty minutes in the sky a band of Confederate Holdouts revealed themselves and took control of the ship, intending to sail it back to one of their secret enclaves in the South to aid in their misguided “war effort”. Fortunately they were foiled by a Deseret Federal Marshal (Lt. Whitterby of the Danite division) who subdued the rebels and orchestrated an emergency landing in the town of Kanab, a good distance east of St George. As I said, the exact details are in my other letter which I sent from the Kenab post office. The postmaster there seemed old as Methusala, leading to my doubt on the speediness of that letter’s delivery. This letter I shall send from the St George post office which is of a more modern fashion.
But I must tell you of the mechanical wonder I encountered in Kanab! After the ordeal the band of Johnny Rebs were locked securely in the Kanab town hall (the town is too small for a proper jailhouse). The other passengers and I were given a little rest and refreshment in the same building (the town is also too small for a hotel). I took this time to write my previous (or possibly forthcoming) letter and send it off. After a while we heard the sound of twin airships approaching. These were the Thunderbird and the Tiancum, which Lt. Whitterby called for. One to return us to St George and the other to take away the villains. He asked us to remain where we were, that we might witness the official arrest and then sign documents witnessing that the correct persons were taken into custody (I swear these Mormons are obsessed with everything being witnessed!)
When the Deseret Marshals marched in they were accompanied by the most peculiar automatons. I was able to make sketches, which I have included. There were four of these contraptions, one for each of the Confederates. They each bore the stern face sculpted from copper or brass, I could not tell. I was told that they bore the face of that wiley old General O.P. Rockwell, who gave our General Sherman and all those Union boys such a rough time in the siege of Echo Canyon.
Each Rockwell was directed by its operator to stand directly behind the hijackers and hold the criminals' hands behind their backs, like a pair of handcuffs. Just as I was wondering why entire automatons were called for what a mere pair of handcuffs could do, one of the scoundrels broke free and made a break for it, rushing as though he would leap out of the window to freedom! But then the Rockwell machine did a strange thing. One of its hands dropped, as if it was on a hinge and a small device extended from the open wrist. With a pop, it shot a tiny harpoon attached with a thin wire at the man. I wondered at this, as the harpoon and wire were both far too small to catch a fish, let alone a desperate criminal. But when the harpoon struck him there came a sound like a deep angry buzzing and the man became stiff as a board and toppled over as if dead!
The foiled escapee was looked over and determined to still be alive, (though with quite a lot less fight in him) and was bound in the same manner as the rest. In asking Lt Whitterby what had just transpired, he told me that the machines “Rockwell Automatons” where based on a design currently being used in both London and Chicago ment to assist local law enforcement in apprehending and holding dangerous criminals. When I brought up how easily the man had been felled, the Lieutenant told me that that particular innovation was of pure Deseret origin. In the Chicago models a simple gun is concealed in the wrist, and the London model is given a club. Both were determined to be far too brutal for the liking of the Deseret Marshals, so an alternative device was created. This deceive, I was told, delivers a small electrical charge to the target, not powerful enough to kill, but just enough to temporarily confuse the nervous system and render the target harmless.
But look! I have been writing and sketching aboard the Thunderbird so long that we have been returned to St George so that I might continue my journey to Salt Lake! I must finish this letter and mail it while I can. As always I shall write to you whenever I am able.
Your friend,
Jacob K. Steinsworth
P.S. Please thank your wife, Isabel for her insistence that I carry a pocket Bible on this trip. It proved quite useful during the ordeal with those Confederate hijackers. Again, the full details are in the other letter.

Breaker, breaker, this is WAR 1974 calling out from Los Feliz, Los Angeles.
Huh. Low-s Feliz. Loss Angeles. Is it Loss Feliz? Loss Fell-IS? Lows Fell-IS? Francis always said Low-s Feel-iz, but I have no idea if he was right. I know nothing about Spanish, so I’m pretty sure I’d butcher any pronunciation.
Anyway, it’s a new day, I’ve made a shit ton of lemonade with all the lemons I picked in the neighborhood and I’m feeling…well, if not good. Motivated. I’m setting the gloves and Harry aside, the cryptic message and Birdie aside, and I’m ready to start anew.
Except…I don’t actually know where to start. I’ve written down everything I know, gone through it over and over and none of it is clicking together in any kind of coherent way. The best lead I have is what happened in Estes Park and, by extension, whatever the deal is in Denver too.
That’s as good a place to start as any. Circle back to Denver, danger be damned, and try to see if that city holds any answers.
But if there really is something there that could harm me…how do I prepare myself? What kind of danger am I looking at? I guess I could get some weapons, get a bigger, sturdier car—
Oh yeah, I didn’t mention the car I did settle on after the old one broke down. It is a thing of beauty—a 1965 Ford Thunderbird. Red and hardly driven based on the mileage. I picked the first car that worked on the 210 in order to get myself here but then when I saw this baby a few streets over I couldn’t resist. It might not be the most practical—not a ton of storage space—but who needs stuff anyway, right? It can hold all the essentials. That’s what matters.
But would it hold up in whatever…collision is in Denver? I don’t know. I guess I’ll just have to find out.

As promised, more nonsense from the World of Light and Darkness. This is a page from perhaps the most popular book in the Elemental kingdoms, only surpassed by royal histories and the Cælestia, the words of the Light-Born and Dark-Born creator-beings. This book is titled The Essential Book of Mischief, and this volume has come to define childhood antics and misbehavior.
Tumblr media
Writings like the Essential Book are widely promoted around the central Lyardian Kingdom of Raicuth, as it is believed that if a child ‘gets out their spirit’ at a young age, they’ll become mellow and easygoing as an adult. As such, children under the age of 10 are unable to be prosecuted for any crime less than armed robbery, and youths under the age of 15 are unable to be prosecuted for any crime less than theft.
Transcription of the poem below the cut.
A Mocking Rhyme for Young Children and Other Rascals
Do you hear the great beast calls
Screeching noise on high?
Do you hear the birdies sing
Flying through the sky?
Dartfeather will bloat your face,
Ambush Swan to break your case!
Dazzler-Fowl’s quite nice it’s true,
But Thunderbird wants to eat you!
That’s just life in the South Forest,
A place that’s everything but blessed!
Reigning Deer shall stomp your grain,
Direwolf will be your bane!
Sphereweaver to eat your steer,
And Wampus Cat may drink your beer!
That’s just life in the Shadowcast,
Really quite fun but sadly fast!
Snowdrifter to raid your fish,
Mountain Troll will break your dish!
Lightning-Horn shall sink your ship,
While the Night-Blights start to rip!
That’s just life in the Tundra North,
All things shall go downhill henceforth!
Naga-Snake to crush your house,
Shining-Bull will spit your spouse!
Whisper Moth will fray your rope,
With Bell-Echos stealing your hope!
That’s just life in the Split-Desert,
Only comparable to dirt!

New Student
Requested by anonymous: “I was thinking maybe having the reader be a transfer student from Ilvermorny and Hermione tutors her to help her catch up with the curriculum of the new school.”
Pairing: Hermione Granger x fem!reader
Words: 4.3k+
Warnings - Prejudice and brief mention of pain
Tumblr media
"I understand that your family is of pure descent, correct?" You can't help but fidget in your seat; the vibrant pink of her office was making you extremely uncomfortable. Not to mention the gentle mewing coming from the plates that decorated the walls. It was one thing to love cats but surely this grew annoying after a while. You nod a little as you sit up straighter. The headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was currently reading your transfer file. Having once attended school overseas, you were new to Hogwarts but instead of arriving like everyone else you were in your fifth year of education and the term had already begun for everyone else. Of course, your father cleared this with the school ahead of time but it was still embarrassing arriving so late. Not to mention, everyone else had four years of relationships and you were now just some weird new kid. "I do hope you'll consider your friends wisely while attending Hogwarts."
"May I ask what you mean by that Professor?" That was the first question you had asked since stepping through that door and you were very quickly regretting it. The woman wore a sickeningly sweet smile as she lowered the file from before her face.
"As a fifth-year student, you will be expected to take your OWLs this year. Do you believe your last establishment has prepared you for your examinations?"
"I guess," you shrug. You'd never had any trouble getting good grades in the past but Professor Umbridge didn't look convinced. Scribbling something down on her parchment, she pauses for a moment to meet your eyes.
"I would suggest acquiring a tutor for additional support. I can arrange for one of your peers to meet with you."
"That's quite alright, Professor." You dread to think of the tutor she would assign you; probably someone very studious and strict. Boring comes to mind too. "You're much too busy to concern yourself with such a task. I believe I'm quite capable of finding someone on my own."
"It is great to see a young witch taking some initiative," Her smile felt more genuine this time whereas yours was awkward.
"If that is all, may I go?"
"Of course. Run along dear" Slowly rising, you wish you could actually run out of the office and never come back but you proceed calmly. Only stopping by the door when you hear her speak once more. "But do keep in mind what I've said. We wouldn't want you falling in with the wrong kind of wizards while you're here. I expect your last school taught you how to conduct yourself."
"Thank you for your time, Professor Umbridge." With a bow of your head, you slip out the door with a sigh of the utmost relief. She was a very... intense woman to be around. After one meeting, you had another but this time it was with your head of house. Having arrived so late, you didn't partake in the sorting ceremony; which honestly you were kind of grateful for. Having to be sorted with a bunch of eleven-year-olds in front of the whole school definitely would have followed you around. Professor McGonagall briskly glides down the hallway as you stumble a few steps behind. She was the head of Gryffindor.
"I hate to be a bother but Professor Umbridge suggested I get a tutor and I was wondering if you might know a suitable candidate? With having started a few weeks after everyone else and OWLs fast approaching, I thought it was best to be safe than sorry"
"Your transcripts from your previous school don't suggest you'll have much trouble but a tutor may be beneficial," The older woman glanced back at you with a warm smile. "I have the perfect witch for the job. She's a real credit to Gryffindor. You were in Thunderbird previously?"
"Yes ma'am. Thunderbird House was considered to represent the soul of a witch or wizard and favoured adventures," you announce proudly. "I've never felt like much of an adventurer myself though."
"I'm sure you'll be a grand edition to Gryffindor. I may be biased but we're the best house at Hogwarts."
"I don't doubt that," Although you had no clue about any of the other houses to compare. "If you don't mind me asking Professor, where are we going?"
"To introduce you to your new tutor. She's in your first class so I thought I would escort you."
"Oh," You scramble forward a little faster to keep up with the woman; falling into step. "Do you think she'll be enough? I transferred at such an awkward time."
Hogwarts castle was as big as you'd imagine which made the journey to your first class seem like an eternity. As you're led down the hallway and into the dungeon, it's like the atmosphere completely changes. It's dark and cold down here. She comes to a stop outside a classroom, you peer around Professor McGonagall to see students sat at desks with small cauldrons placed before them.
"Can I speak to Miss Granger?" McGonagall asks of the teacher. He didn't seem too happy about the intrusion but he doesn't object. After a moment, a girl with luscious locks of mahogany brown steps through the door; she looks worried.
"Have I done something wrong, Professor?" Her eyes fall to yours and you offer up a small smile which she returns.
"Of course not. I just wanted to introduce you to our newest student. She'll be joining Gryffindor and was in the market for a tutor. As one of the finest students in all of Hogwarts, I thought of you."
Her eyes seemed to sparkle in response to the praise. "I would be happy to help, Professor."
It was becoming more clear that whoever this girl was, she was very eager to please. It was written in her body language or the way she addressed McGonagall. She introduces herself as Hermione Granger before heading back into class to ensure she doesn't miss anything. The nerves set in as you realise you're supposed to follow.
"A new student for you, Professor." Guess there was no turning back, you step through the archway. It was rather dull and dark but it matched the feeling of the dungeons. The shelves were lined with varying ingredients and while students had previously been working on potions, now all their attention was drawn to you.
"A little late for new additions," The man spoke slowly; he had a nasally sound to his voice. His displeasure transformed into a scowl aimed directly at you. The whispers of nosey students fill the awkward silence
"I'm-"
"Just take a seat," He demands and you didn't think twice about it. Hurrying to the first open seat you could find. "We don't have time for frivolous introductions."
Potions class had never been something you had struggled with but it seemed that the Professor - whose name you had come to learn as Snape - seemed to be making it as difficult as possible. Every question was thrown at you despite other students who will not be named being so eager to answer them. They were also specific questions such as where to find certain ingredients within the confines of the UK which you had no clue. You knew today was going to be a very long day.
Lunchtime approached and nothing felt more daunting today than being in a room full of students and not knowing a single one. You park yourself down at the end of Gryffindor table, food lined the middle and you grab a few sandwiches placing them on your plate. You're not sure if it's relief or something else when you spot the only girl you knew so far come to join you; followed by some friends.
"McGonagall gave me your timetable," She announces, sitting down opposite you. "and I have created a schedule that ensures we have enough time to cover everything."
"When did you have time to make this?" You wonder, taking a bite of the sandwich you'd picked up. It wasn't half bad.
"Never underestimate Hermione's ability to do a boring task," Next to her sat a boy with ginger hair; he wore a welcoming smile on his face that was peppered with freckles. "I'm Ron by the way."
The others that had arrived alongside Hermione, introduced themselves one by one. There was Ginny Weasley who was related to Ron; even if she hadn't told you it wasn't hard to figure out. Then there was the famous Harry Potter. A name you knew only in passing; rumours spread all around the world about him. Hermione slides a piece of parchment across the table. Along the top sat the days of the week and down the side were hours within the day. They were colour coded by type so each potion class and potion study sessions were in green and so on. Pretty much every square had been filled in with one boring task or another. "This is... a lot."
"Considering our classes this morning, you seem rather behind so I thought it was best that we take every opportunity to bring you up to speed," Having moved to England, the accent and speed in which they spoke was rather hard to understand but you don't bring it up. "We have a lot to cover before exams."
"I'm actually rather good at potions," you protest. "Professor Snape was asking me weird questions. How am I supposed to know where to find things, I've only just moved here."
"Snape can be a right git," Ron mumbles through a mouth full of food.
"You're from America, right?" This time it's Harry who speaks. There's a part of you that wants to ask about his scar but considering you've just met it seemed too rude to voice.
"Yes," you nod. "I attended Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry until my father insisted on sending me here once we moved."
"Hogwarts is the best wizarding school in the world." Hermione declares. "Or so I've read."
"I liked my old school," You'd grown used to the mechanics of Ilvermorny plus you had friends there. "Hermione, no offence, but I would kind of like to have a little fun while I'm here and this leaves no time for literally anything else? What about clubs or quidditch?"
"Studying is fun. What could be more beneficial than acquiring new knowledge," Hermione's expression is genuine but you can't see yourself thinking studying is the epitome of fun any time soon. "I will not let Professor McGonagall down by not preparing you properly. So that means hard work- we will start after lunch."
"Is she always like this?" You turn to the others.
"Pretty much." They all agree. Maybe this had been a mistake?
"So you're the new girl, huh?" A shadow lingers over you and you look up to the culprit. That vibrant red hair seemed to be everywhere, you frown a little before looking to Ron.
"Heard you came all the way from America." Another one appears beside him, a broad smile on display. Twins?
"They're my brothers," Ron answers the question before you can even ask. There sure were a lot of Weasleys in this castle.
"How many Weasleys are there?"
"I have six siblings, Ginny is the youngest. Bill, Charlie and Percy have already left though."
"I'm Fred." One of the twins announces, patting your shoulder a little. "The most handsome Weasley brother."
"I'm George and I'm much more handsome than that git," He shoves his brother playfully.
"You're identical twins,"
"No, we're not," George protests. "Fred here is adopted. I can't believe you think we look the same."
"I'm offended you think I look like this tosspot, I'm much prettier." He dramatically pretends to flip his hair over his shoulder.
"We can show you around if you like?" They both offer; as bad as it sounds you knew you were gonna struggle remembering who was who.
"We know every corner of this place." Fred declares
"Every nook and cranny." George continues. "We also the guys to go to if you ever need anything- think fanged frisbees or puking pastels. We've got you covered."
"Uh..." Glancing to your timetable, you hold it up for them to see. "I don't think I'll have time for a tour between classes and study sessions."
"Shame."
"Guess we'll see you around then, Miss America." They both leave you alone to finish your lunch.
Written down Hermione's schedule was a lot but attending sessions was ten times worse.  The constant studying was exhausting; how she was able to just keep going was crazy but impressive. Today was Arithmancy study in the Gryffindor common room. You were sat beside Hermione at the desk; sketching her side profile on the parchment filled with unfinished sums as she explained what she was doing. Every so often she'd look at you and you'd look away. Careful not to get caught staring as you perfected each delicate line that made up her face.
"And that's how you get fifty-six- see?" Hermione shows you her work, tapping the answer with the tip of her quill.
Staring at the answer didn't make much sense but neither did the working out. You hadn't been listening at all so you flash her a sympathetic smile. "I don't get it,"
"Are you even paying attention?" Her brow crinkled; her quill falling to the desk.
"Yes-"
"Let's see your work then?" Before she can grab it, you drag your parchment away. Smothering the contents with the palms of your hands.
"No."
"Show me." She requested firmly. Eyes narrowing in on you as if issuing a challenge. With a heavy sigh, you back down. Handing over your work.
"Fine. I wasn't paying attention," You admit with a shrug; leaning over the back of the chair to stare up at the ceiling. "Arithmancy is just so boring."
"You chose to take it,"
"My parents forced me to take it," You correct, glancing back at her. Taking your parchment between her fingers, it's hard to miss the rush of colour that floods her pale cheeks. You didn't think your drawing was that good; definitely not even close to some of your other work. If anything you were embarrassed by how bad it was.
"It's pretty rough like I could do better if I had more time and my pencils" Drawing provided you with a distraction when it was most needed. You'd only started a year ago but it quickly developed into your hobby of choice. Learning to sketch people had been tough but after spending pretty much every class, staring at your fellow students you had gotten decent at it.
"It's..." Hermione trails off, handing back your work. "Can you please focus?"
"We've been at this for hours." A long groan leaves your throat as you slump down in your seat. Arms folded over your chest.
"Just a few more questions before we finish,"
You were finally growing used to your life at Hogwarts. Most of your time was spent with Hermione but you did manage to convince her to ease up a little. She grew busy with a club or something so she was more than happy to leave you to your own devices.
"You wanted to see me, Professor," you announce, entering the pink lion's den. It was somehow looking even pinker than the last time you stepped foot in here.
"Ah yes, please do take a seat. I'll be just a moment." Dropping your bag down beside the chair, you sit in the seat she signalled to. There wasn't a lot of time before you were supposed to meet Hermione to practice some charms. After a moment, Professor Umbridge speaks up. "Do you know why I've asked to see you?"
You shake your head slowly.
"Do you remember what I told you when you first arrived?"
"To get a tutor? I don't believe I'm falling behind in my classes." Hermione had been a great teacher overall; ensuring you understand everything before moving on although Snape still had a habit of asking you questions you didn't know. Was this about that?
"I'm referring to your choice in companions."
"Oh," you swallow hard. You didn't know what to say to that. Since arriving you'd started hanging with Hermione and her friends. You'd also found yourself drawn to the Weasley twins on the odd occasion. "Uh... I can assure you I've made friends Professor."
"I've noticed," she didn't sound pleased "Professor Snape also mentioned that you've been a wee bit disruptive in his class."
"That's not a fair judgment-" The words leave your lips sharper than intended but fall short when you notice the crease across the other woman's forehead.
"As headmaster, you must realise that I can't allow you to disrupt the way this school runs. Therefore you will be punished." Other than getting questions wrong, you wouldn't say you've done much else wrong in Snape's class. It wasn't fair that you were being punished for something so trivial but speaking up seemed like a one way trip to something worse. "Don't look so worried. You'll just be writing lines for me."
"Writing lines," you repeat cautiously. That seemed easy enough before you could reach into your bag, a quill and piece of parchment are placed before you. "What do you want me to write?"
"I must not fraternise with muggle-borns,"
"What does that have to do with Snape's class?" You wonder.
"Just do as your told," Umbridge quips quickly. "I do believe you've been seen around the castle with Miss Granger, correct?"
"Hermione?" You hardly believed Hermione had done anything to step out of line. Plus what did that have to do with anything? You were allowed to be friends with whoever you wanted. "Of course she is my tutor after all."
"It seems it may be more than that," Umbridge's sickeningly sweet giggle fills the office. "Now please begin."
"You haven't given me any ink?"
Striding behind her desk, she takes a seat and offers a smile. "You won't need any,"
Picking up the quill, you twist it between your fingers trying to figure out its secrets. It was black in colour, long, thin, and looked to be extremely sharp. Clearly, it was an enchanted quill if it didn't need ink. The tip glides across the paper with ease, gracing its surface with the ridiculous phrase you'd been forced to write in shiny red ink. How many times was she expecting you to do this? Hermione wouldn't be happy if you turned up late to one of your study sessions... again. A weird tingling spilt through the back of your hand before transforming into a sharp pain as you write the phrase a second time. Each letter appeared on your hand as you write it as if etched there by a scalpel. You drop the quill and the words slowly fade away but not without leaving your hand red. "Keep writing," Umbridge draws your attention, peering over from behind her teacup. You take a deep breath and write I must not fraternize with muggle-borns, the searing pain returned to your hand as you saw the phrase carved into your skin. You flex your hand as if that would relieve the pain but again the wound heels over. You no longer stopped between each line, the burning in your hand now a constant but it seemed after so many times the phrase was no longer fading. The hand on your shoulder startles you; the quill slipping from your grip.
"I think that's enough, you're free to go." Grabbing your bag, you leap out of your seat and rush for the door. "As a witch of your social standing, you should know better."
Head down, you charge through the castle to go meet Hermione but your speed slows as you realise tears prick your eyes. Dropping down on the nearest bench, you bury your face in your hands. Surely that kind of punishment wasn't allowed?
"If it isn't our favourite American." Head shooting up, you spy Fred and George. After all this time, you were beginning to be able to tell them apart.
"Why so glum, chum?" Your eyes drift just briefly to the scar on your hand. The twins taking up space either side of you.
"It's nothing- I'm fine."
"If you're fine, why are you crying?" Fred puts his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer to him.
"I'm not crying," but you have to wipe your cheeks to make sure. "I just..." you couldn't explain why you were so upset. Your thumb brushes over the back of your hand.
"Oh- it's no so bad," Fred squeezes your arm gently, they must have figured it out. "It'll fade soon enough."
"And it doesn't hurt very long, look." George shows you the back of his hand, you can't even read what it was supposed to have said. It doesn't make you feel better. "Don't cry, she's not worth it."
"Can you two leave me alone?"
"Nope," George's thumb brushes away a stray tear before tapping you on the end of your nose. You couldn't help but smile a little as you scrunched up your nose.
"We don't leave pretty sad girls alone in corridors to cry." Fred insists. "How about you show us what she had you write?"
Unsure about the decision, you let the two of them see what Umbridge had done. George takes hold of your hand, inspecting it carefully. "I must not fraternize with muggle-borns," George reads out quietly. "Do much fraternizing do you?"
"I don't even know any muggle-borns," Is all you say in response. Muggle was such a dumb word.
"Uh... Hermione? Aren't you two like best friends," Fred comments
"Hermione is No-Maj-born?" So that was why Umbridge had seemed so interested in your relationship. It was clear she held prejudice against No-Majs so it was only logical that she was trying to keep you, a pure-blood wizard, from mixing with Hermione, A no-maj-born.
"No-maj?" George questions
"Right, no-maj stand for no magic? You call em muggles." You sniffle, drying your cheeks properly.
"Ah no-maj." they both repeat.
Feeling a little better the twins escort you to your courtyard for your session with Hermione. She was packing up her textbook when she finally notices you. 0What did I tell you about punctuation? I will not tolerate sitting around here like a fool- if you do not wish to take your studies seriously then don't bother asking me to tutor you at all." The fire behind her eyes brings you to tears only this time they were hot and fast. Spilling down your face as a result of being yelled at. Hermione's expression drops, your tears extinguishing the fire. "I- Uh... sorry. I didn't mean-"
"I-It's alright," With the sleeve of your cardigan, you try to wipe away all evidence of your breakdown.
"What's wrong with your hand?"
"Umbridge," You don't even try to conceal it now. "I don't think she likes that we're hanging out."
"I'm sorry she did that to you," She takes your hand in hers, her fingertip dancing delicately over your scar. It was ripe to the touch causing you to flinch a little; pulling your hand away. "You should tell your parents."
"And cause more trouble?" Was she crazy? "I don't want to give her any more reason to drag me into the office again."
"Then... if you don't wish to continue our study sessions, I would understand. I don't want to get you into trouble." Hermione fidgets with the strap of her bag, unable to look you in the eye. It was probably the smartest choice to never hang out with Hermione again. It would certainly save you from future punishments but if you did that you'd undoubtedly miss her. She'd become such a constant In your life, you could imagine it without her in it.
"I like our sessions together," You declare, offering her the warmest smile you could muster. "Can we skip today though? My hand stings and I'm really not in the mood anymore."
"Sure," Her smile looks almost sad in comparison. "Should we go get some dinner?"
Finishing up packing, the two of you head for the great hall. There was no way Umbridge was gonna dictate who you can be friends with even if it meant more punishment.
Christmas approaches fast and brought with it a merry aura that filled every inch of the castle. You linger in the courtyard with your suitcase waiting for Hermione. She promised to meet you before you left but had a commitment to attend to first. You don't question her but you do wish she'd hurry up; it was awfully cold out here. It's a miracle when she finally shows up, a bright smile as she approaches
"I just wanted to give you this before I go." Digging through your pockets, you produce a folded up piece of paper; taking a few steps closer.
"What is it?"
"Open it," The nerves settled in your stomach as she unfolded the paper. This time, using your pencils, you'd manage to create an almost collage of sketches. Each one of the girl who stood next to you right now during different times in the past month. It seemed like a nice little farewell gift. "Have a good break, yeah?"
"These are... you're really good." Hermione meets your soft gaze. Her face pink in colour but that may have been due to the cold. "Thank you." She wears a small, embarrassed smile. "When did you have time to draw these?"
"Never underestimate my ability to avoid my responsibilities and draw pretty girls instead," you tease. Leaning toward you place a kiss against her cheek before pointing to the address you'd written on the bottom. "Write to me."

Come What May
Request: hey! can i get a request for an american transfer (i’m not sure if they were even a thing lol but anyways) and she is a hufflepuff? maybe she becomes friends with remus due to him being a prefect and sirius ends up really liking her? if you want to change it up a little bit for your writing that’s perfectly fine! xx
A/N: I loved writing this - it took me some time to start, but I loved writing it. I hope you like it and I hope I’ve done it justice. I’ve no clue whether I’ve made the reader American enough but I still hope its good nonetheless. Moulin Rouge is one of my favourite musicals; the title is the name of the song. Enjoy!! :)
Pairing: Sirius Black x American!Transfer!Reader
Warnings: fluff, mentions of pregnancy, I wanna say swearing but I can't remember, mentions of nausea, mentions of anxiety, mentions of homesickness
Word count: 3.3k
In an attempt to improve relations between the wizarding worlds of the United States of America and the United Kingdom, MACUSA and the Ministry of Magic set up a transfer scheme for sixth years of Ilvermorny and Hogwarts. The entirety of their sixth year would be spent abroad where they would gain the worthwhile experience of receiving an education in a different country.
Some pressure from your mother had you applying to spend a year at Hogwarts. Only ten students from the year group were given the opportunity – when it was offered to you, you took it with both hands. A year abroad would look good on your final transcript when applying to train as a Healer.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, you were swiftly sorted into Hufflepuff; a kind, gentle house that made you feel welcome. Their proximity to the school kitchens would help with reducing the stress for exam season, you thought.
Your first week was plagued with intense homesickness. The Scottish Highlands were hauntingly beautiful, but they were nothing compared to your surroundings at Ilvermorny. You longed for the familiar sight of the familiar Mount Greylock. You missed your family, but your mother’s letters would still find you at Hogwarts. Professor McGonagall had assured you of that.
Your classes were hard to navigate. Hogwarts was bigger than Ilvermorny and you found yourself running from one side of the castle to the other in an attempt to get to lessons on time.
“Hi, are you okay?” A male voice asks. You turn to find lanky teenager with scars littering his face looking at you in concern. A prefect badge on the collar of his robes had you relaxing; here was someone that could help you.
“Hey!” You shout, eagerly, happy to see a friendlier face, “I’m lost. I’m trying to find Divination.”
He smiles at you, “You’re in luck, I’m heading to Divination as well.”
“That’s great, I’ll follow your lead. I’ve been here three weeks; you’d have thought I’d have the layout down by now.”
He chuckles, “I’m Remus, by the way.”
You hold a hand out to him, he shakes it once, “I’m (Y/N). I’m part of the transfer scheme between Ilvermorny and Hogwarts.”
Remus sits beside you in Divination; helping you when you struggled with understanding the teacher’s accent. Divination was taught at Ilvermorny, and along with Herbology and Potions, was one of the subjects you excelled at. Your four times great grandmother on your father’s side was a prophetess who barely escaped the witch trials in Salem; her talents had been passed down to you.
The lesson is over fairly quickly with Remus by your side, helping to translate the Professor’s words. You’re packing your books up, hoping your usually spot in the library isn’t taken when Remus asks: “(Y/N), would you like to join me for lunch? You’ll have to meet my friends, but they’re mainly harmless.”
“Mainly?”
Remus flashed you a grin, “They’ll talk your ear off, but they mean well.”
“In that case, I’d love to join you for lunch. I’d be spending it in alone in the library, so this is a definite upgrade. Lead the way.”
On the walk to the Great Hall, you and Remus bond more and you can feel the start of a genuine friendship beginning to be built.
By the time you arrive at the Great Hall, you have decided that Remus is in fact a sweetheart with a heart of gold who loves his books as much as he loves his friends. From your limited knowledge of Hogwarts houses, you can see exactly how Remus meets the standards to be a Gryffindor.
Remus automatically heads to the table assigned to Gryffindor, spotting his friends in the crowd. You only hesitate for a moment before joining him.
“(Y/N), these are James, Peter and Sirius.” Remus introduces, pointing to each teenage boy with their name. They look at you with fascination as you take a seat next to Remus, who hands you the pitcher of water without a second thought. Yes, your friendship with Remus would be something you truly treasure with all of your heart.
“It’s nice to meet you all,” You greet, not missing how their eyes widen at your accent.
“Are you one of the American exchange students?” Peter asks.
You nod, smiling at him, “I am.”
If it’s possible, his eyes widen further, “You must be really smart then. Like super smart to get into the programme. The one’s we got in Gryffindor are like geniuses.”
“Thank you, that’s a very nice compliment.”
Peter blushes, breaking the eye contact between you two.
You start placing food onto your plate, eating a forkful in between answering questions.
“My turn now – how did you all become friends?”
James grins, “We all met on train and became friends. It seemed fate was on our side when we were all sorted into the same house.”
You look at the ties each worn by the teenagers; stripes of solid red stand out against dark black. “You’re all in Gryffindor!”
James nods, “We are! And our ever-lovely Remus is our prefect.”
You smile when you see Remus out of the corner of your eye, sitting a little straighter at the sound of his school role.
Sirius catches your eye, a smirk turning the one corner of his lips upwards, “What house were you sorted into?”
You point to your tie, not missing the way his eyes rake up and down your body, “Hufflepuff,” you state proudly, feeling very at home with your Hogwarts house.
“What’s your house at Ilvermorny?” He asks, pronouncing each syllable of your school separately, testing out the sound of it on his tongue.
“Pukwudgie.” You declare, prouder than ever of your house back in America. Those sorted into Pukwudgie are defined by their passions and their desires; they commit themselves fully to everything they do whilst being fiercely loyal caregivers and protectors.
Sirius’ lips tremble; he wants to chuckle at the odd sounding name. You don’t miss the expression on his face, rolling your eyes at it.
“We have four houses at Ilvermorny: Pukwudgie, Wampus, Horned Serpent, and Thunderbird. It is said that my house, Pukwudgie, favours healers which makes sense since that is what I’m working towards. I want to work at the hospital for magical folk in New York City. The other houses favour different positions; Wampus – warriors, Horned Serpent – scholars, and Thunderbird – adventurers. Truthfully, we aren’t that different to Hogwarts expect for the fact that we’re in America. The Hogwarts students over there are probably realising the same thing. ”
The four boys look at you in astonishment, and you realise that since you arrived in Scotland, those were the most words you had spoken in succession.
“Well,” You say, grinning, taking a sip of your water, “we aren’t entirely different other than the fact that we’re better
James squawks in indignation, “How? I think you’re mistaken. I’m going to need a point by point explanation of how that is even possible. Hogwarts is the best school out there!”
You laugh at him, “Hogwash. Are you ready for that conversation, James?”
Sirius grins, showing off his perfectly straight, white teeth, “Oh, I like you. I think we’re going to get on like a house on fire.”
With your heart racing, your answering smile is blinding.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Marauders adopt you as an honorary member; Peter had dubbed you the emissary to Ilvermorny with a promise to tell your tales of your time at Hogwarts to the student body of the school; to make them famous ‘across the pond’.
The more time you spent with the pranksters, the more you saw them as themselves. James and Sirius were ridiculously smart but played aloof – happier to marked as the class clowns than the smartest in the class (though they were by miles). James was besotted with a red-haired girl named Lily who never seemed to want to give him the time of day, but he persisted.
Peter had the best stories from his childhood, and he was more than happier to tell you them. But there was something simmering under the surface with Peter, as if he was too close to the flame of something he couldn’t quite pull back from. You hoped he would before it was too late.
Remus confessed to you a month into your friendship, of his lycanthropy – he trusted you, he knew you wouldn’t spread his secret and you wouldn’t. You could see his self-hatred always simmering, but Remus was so pure of heart with a predisposition for trouble that made him a natural leader when planning the school-wide famous pranks, that you knew he would not let the wolf inside him control him for longer than was necessary.
The friendship you had created with all four of them was something you would cherish upon returning to Ilvermorny. In such little time, they had taken you in and made you feel at home within their group.
Out of all them, you felt drawn to Sirius and he was more than happy to entertain you. He found you fascinating as well as extremely beautiful. There was something about your eyes that he couldn’t put his finger on, but they had him from the very moment they fell on him in the Great hall. He could sit and listen to you for hours whether it be a story or a rant. He was more than happy to let you talk and for him to listen. You had bewitched him; mind, body and soul. He’d follow you to the ends of the earth.
It was this that made you fall in love with him.
As cliché as it is to describe, your feelings for Sirius took you by surprise. In a matter of few weeks, you had started to fall in love with the shaggy-haired prankster. He had captured your heart in a way you never thought possible; you found it hard to think of anything but him. Your heart raced with every bit of eye contact made across the classroom; as if you were the only one in his line of vision.
Sirius had a way to make you feel as if you were the only one in the world; he would listen to your rants over the differing education systems between the USA and the UK or if someone had gotten on your nerves. He would defend you if ever a cross word was even uttered in your direction; Severus Snape had been on the receiving end of most of Sirius’ hexes. Sirius had you completely enthralled.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You spend weeks agonising over your feelings for the Gryffindor; badgering Remus at every opportunity until he cracks and tells you that Sirius feels the same but doesn’t know how to approach you.
You decide then and there that you’re going to tell him; that you’re going to confess your feelings for him. As you rush to the library, you steel yourself in case of rejection. It would break your heart, but you would find a way to repair the friendship.
You find Sirius in an isolated corner of the library, pouring over one of the many leather bounded books. The library had taken your breath away when you first arrived; never in your life had you seen so many ancient and dusty tomes dedicated to the practice of witchcraft and wizardry. Now, your eyes are drawn to the teenager hidden among them.
Sirius is sitting in one of the few arm chairs. You don’t sit down; the anxiety and adrenaline preparing your legs for a quick exit if needed.
“Do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?” You ask.
Sirius looks up from his book, wide-eyed, “What?”
“Would you like to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend? I know it’s a free weekend for the both of us and I’d like to go with you.”
“Really?”
“Yes. I like you, Sirius and I think you’ve known for a while that I do.”
Sirius can’t help the blush that rushes to his cheeks, “I know of your feelings.”
“I need to know: are they returned or am I overstepping here?”
Sirius places his book on the table, “No, no, you’re not overstepping. I’ve had a crush on your for a while.”
Your grin lights up your face and Sirius find himself making the promise of to always be the cause of your smiles and never your tears.
“So would you like to come to Hogsmeade with me?”
“As long as you let me pay; it would be shame on my name for me to let such a beautiful person pay for their date.”
“You are a gentleman. So you will come?”
“Yes, we’ll go to Hogsmeade on a date this weekend. I adore your confidence.”
“I’m American,” You state, shrugging your shoulders, “We’re born with it.”
Sirius barks a laugh as he pulls you into his lap, his hands on your waist. You press not one, but two kisses to his cheek where the blush still remains, savouring he fact that it was you who affects him so, and no-one else.
Sirius relaxes beneath you; happy to have you in his arms for however long you have left at Hogwarts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the muted light of the moon reflecting into his dorm room, you can be honest with each other. Your time at the school for witchcraft and wizardry was coming to a close with little under a month before you were returning to Ilvermorny to complete your final year of education.
You didn’t try to ignore the lance of pain spearing your heart as you imagine that year without Sirius. A little over four months with him and you knew that you have found the love of your life; that there would be no-one else for you.
“I don’t want to leave you,” You whisper in the dark of the night, curled under his arm, your hand pressed to his chest so you can feel his heartbeat under your palm.
“I don’t want you to go.” He whispers against your hair.
Tears sting the corner of your eyes, “What are we going to do?”
“For now, I’m going to sleep next to the girl I love. Tomorrow, we are going to talk about it, I promise. I just want to hold you now.”
“Tomorrow,” You promise, “Tonight, I just want to be held by you.”
Sirius pulls you tighter to him; as if the two of you aren’t already pressed together. He drops another kiss to your head while you press one to his shoulder. You aren’t sure whether of you get a lot of sleep that night; worries of the future working their way down the familiar path of your mind.
The following morning brings lingering touches and unhurried kisses. The anxiety from last night hangs like a dark cloud over the both of you but there is a determination within you to hurry it away.
The day is spent slowly; slowly walking around the grounds, slowly reading in the common room, slowly kissing. As if the slower your pace, the longer you can spend in his arms where you truly want to be.
The topic needs to be approached; it needs to be addressed or else it’ll sour the remaining time you have left with the boy you’ve fallen in love with.
Laying on the couch in the Gryffindor common room, your head in Sirius’ lap, you ask, “What are your plans for the summer?”
He sighs, pretending to think it through as he brushes a hand from the top of your forehead to the tip of your nose, “I’m not sure, I think I’m going to be visiting this really pretty girl that I’ve fallen in love with.”
You beam, “Yes please. Come stay with me! My family is going to love you.”
Sirius’ cheeks warm, “Really?”
You nod, “Definitely, I’ve already told them all about you in my letters. My mom is going to love you. My dad is going to take some persuading though. I think the whole family won’t be able to leave you alone. I go to Scotland and come back with a boyfriend.”
Sirius laughs, warm and rich, “I’ll have to bring my charming self.”
“You do that, and you won’t get to leave.”
“Maybe that’s the plan. I think we can do it, you know.”
“Can do what?”
“A long-distance relationship. I think we can do it; I think we’re strong enough.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really. I know we haven’t been together very long but I’m in this for the long-haul. I want no-one else but you; I love no-one else but you. In such a short time, you’ve shown me what a relationship should be like and I want it. I want it all with you. So I think we’re strong enough to get through it. We can send letters and on the longer holidays, we can alternate between America and the UK.”
“You’ve really thought this through.”
Sirius nods, nudging you to sit up. “I have. I thought of it last night, I don’t know how neither of us thought of it earlier.”
You think it through, seeing no disadvantages to his plan other than the fact that you would miss him dearly. “I like it. Let’s do it, let’s do long-distance. I love you too, I want no-one else either. I hope you’re ready for all of my letters, Black.”
He laughs; the sound music to your ears, “More than ready.”
You can’t help the smile as you lean into kiss him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7 years later:
The house is quiet; too quiet, you think as you push your feet into your slippers. You make your way downstairs to be greeted to the sight of your husband of five years cooking with your four year old daughter.
“I think we’ve been caught, sweetheart.” Sirius whispers to the toddler sitting on the kitchen counter.
Your daughter turns from her place, “We’re making pancakes!”
“I can see that,” You say, chuckling, making your way to your husband – kissing him before kissing your daughter on the top of her head.
“We wanted to give you a bit longer in bed. I know you were up most of the night feeling sick.” Sirius says, a hand touching the barely-there bump.
“You’re my knight in shining armour, Mr. Black”
“Always at your service, Mrs. Black.”
Your final year at Ilvermorny was filled with letter upon letter from Sirius telling you the stories of his final year at Hogwarts. You were very happy indeed when he reported that James and Lily had finally started to see each other, and that Remus was thinking of going steady with a girl in Ravenclaw who loved books as much as he did.
The long-distance relationship was hard at times; always after a visit from one of you to the other but nevertheless, you both persevered – worries always extinguished over written word. Your family understood that your home was now in England; in the arms of a black-haired prankster that had captivated your heart from the very first smile. Your dream of being a healer was still very much attainable in England.
You and Sirius were not long behind James and Lily for marriage. Sirius had proposed one evening after you returned home from your shift at St Mungo’s; bone tired and in the need of a hug, you were shocked to return home to rose petals leading to the living room where Sirius was down on one knee – the only light in the room being from the candles lit on every surface available. You both cried when you accepted; you both cried at the wedding a year later.
You didn’t think there would be any more room in your heart to love someone else other than Sirius.
Then you found out you were pregnant. And your heart made room for one more. Your heart had stretched to fit three when your test came back positive for the baby currently growing in your womb.
As you sit in your kitchen, watching your husband cutting up pancakes for your daughter, you feel overwhelmingly grateful for your mother pushing you to fill out the transfer paperwork all those years ago.

Hi, could I get a HP and MCU ship? I'm a straight(?) female, 5'9 with pale skin, blue eyes and ginger hair. Slytherin, Thunderbird, INTP. I'm analytical and like to factcheck and overthink everything but can also be spontaneous and love adventures. I have sarcastic sense of humour, love making fun of myself and others, getting into debates, but I'm a good peacemaker in serious situations. I love getting to know people but it takes me long to open up and show any sorts of strong emotions. 1/2
2/2 I'm ambitious and a bit obsessive about things I enjoy, like sport shooting, hiking, film photography, politics, music and a lot of really specific topics like local memorials and tombstones, outdated medical practices or transcripts of Apollo missions' communication.
Sorry for taking forever! But here you go! Also love all your specific topics omg
HP: Sirius Black with the whole enemies to lovers trope for sure

MCU: Loki

From the Point  11 15 2019
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League have been short-handed this season, too. All those injuries at the NHL level meant that they had to fork over three of their best players for a little while. Plus, they've had a bunch of bumps and bruises, too. After a so-so start in their first season under coach Mike Vellucci, the Baby Penguins are on a roll. They've won four of their last five games, allowing a total of five goals, to climb into third place in their division.  They host the Springfield Thunderbirds, the second-place squad, at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday night. Eight of their next 10 games at at home. Thursday, we checked in with Vellucci, whose fascinating backstory includes surviving a car accident with former teammate Al Iafrate, to see how things are going down on the farm. He had some interesting things to say about Casey DeSmith, the late addition who has 11 goals in 15 games and three notable prospects who have been hit by injuries or illness. Here's a transcript of our conversation, which has been lightly edited for clarity and brevity. Post-Gazette: What are some of the challenges your team has faced early in the season and what has helped you get on a roll lately? Mike Vellucci: It was difficult. We had 11 guys that we expected in our lineup that weren't. So we were playing guys that are in Wheeling now and playing a lot of rookies that had never played a pro game and were learning what it takes to be a pro and also understanding what my expectations are for them and the way we want to play. So it was just a lot of teaching, growing pains, finding ways to win. I just feel that structurally the last six, seven games were getting to where we need to be. PG: What was it like seeing Sam Lafferty, Adam Johnson and Joseph Blandisi come up to the NHL and make the impact that they did? We know that's what you're preparing guys to do. And what kind of message does that send to your players when they see that happen? MV: As a coach, you're thinking, 'I hope they're doing what I told them to do so they don't make mistakes.' And then it's such a great feeling when you watch them play so well and do the right things. As for what the other players see, if they're doing it right down here and do it right up there, then they could end up staying and doing well. That means don't take the shortcut. Make sure you're doing everything the right way. I think it's very helpful as an organization to see that. And, as a coach, I'd use that as motivation for the guys that aren't there yet. PG: And when someone has success at the NHL level and comes back to the AHL, like Lafferty, can you sense a different confidence about them? And how much of a boost did that give your team when those three call-ups were returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton? MV: Yeah, you play with confidence. My job is to tell them to not take any shortcuts. Do what you would do in the NHL. Don't make a change down here and think that you need to cheat for offense. If you're not going to do it up top, why would you do it here? And then continue to play with speed and passion and those things. It was good they came back. The only difference for them was that they went from eight or 10 minutes to 22 minutes of ice time. PG: We talked to Casey DeSmith a couple of weeks ago. He admitted that he was frustrated and, frankly, hurt by being put on waivers and sent down to the AHL club. How do you think he's responded to that and how critical has he been for your team? It seems like he has found his game down there recently with shutouts in back-to-back games. MV: Yes, of course he was hurt and disappointed and all those emotions, which is understandable. I talked to him when he first got down here and I pulled him aside maybe 10 days ago and just said that he can't let this affect him. He can't control that he was sent down, whether it was because of money or the cap situation or whatever it may be. The only thing he can control is how well he plays and how he tries to get better every day. So I think from that point on he's been preparing to be the best he can and not worrying about things he can't control. I think he's settled in nice. And from a team standpoint, we've settled in with our structure to limit the chances against him. And when we have broken down, he's been there to bail us out. Photo via Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins PG: Tell us about Stefan Noesen. Your team signed him just before the season started and it seems like every time we check Twitter he has just scored another goal. Tell me about him as a player and a potential prospect, because he seemingly came out of nowhere. MV: He came out of nowhere for you, but not for me. I coached him in juniors [with Plymouth of the Ontario Hockey League]. So I know him very well. He was a first-round NHL pick [by Ottawa in 2011] and he had some tough injuries early in his pro career. He missed a lot of time. He played the last couple of years in the NHL  and has been a very good player there. I know him. He's got great hands. His hockey sense is off the charts. He's competitive and he hates to lose. It's been a great signing for us. He's been a huge part of all of our wins, especially early on when scoring goals was difficult for us as a team. PG: How has Emil Larmi's adjustment to North American pro hockey been going? MV: Early on, he was really good, and then he had that freak, weird injury that gave us all a little scare there. He's finally gotten cleared and we're just trying to get him back into game shape so he can play. I like him a lot. I think he's a very good prospect for the organization, and he's a great person. PG: Speaking of injuries, two of the organization's better prospects, Kasper Bjorkqvist and Pierre-Olivier Joseph, have been out. Bjorkqvist had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago and is out for six months and Joseph is dealing with mononucleosis. How disappointing is it that you haven't been able to get a longer look at those two and help them develop? MV: We had all those injuries up top [in the NHL] and Joseph gets mono and Bjorkqvist goes out for six months. Go on down the list. Thomas DiPauli was hurt. It was crazy. It's difficult. It stunts their growth really. It's just going to take more time. P.O.'s getting close. He lost a lot of weight and mono really kicks your butt. So we're trying to get him back in shape and hopefully he gets cleared here in the next 10 days. Bjorkqvist, I mean, that's a big blow. One good thing is that he's in great shape and will continue to be. But he was really making some strides in his game. So it's very disappointing to see that he's out that long. PG: Last question – What's the next step for your team? You said they've really bought in structurally and you're getting some guys back in the lineup. What's the next step for your players? What do you want to see from them in the next month or so? MV: Continue to get better in all areas. But we've improved in everything we set out to improve in. We've been exiting our zone way better. That's something we worked on the last two weeks. Our forecheck is getting better. Our special teams, our power play's been really good but our penalty kill struggled early on. That was more from everybody being new to it but it's been oh-for-20 maybe in the last number of games. Just continue to get better as a team and individuals, and then being at home for the next little bit will definitely help. WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED 1. Sidney Crosby is expected to be out six weeks after undergoing sports hernia surgery. 2. Are all these injuries simply bad luck or is there something more to it? Note that Crosby, Kris Letang and Patric Hornqvist are all highly paid core players in their thirties. 3. Jim Rutherford goes into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday. He'll be sure to thank a lot of folks from Windsor, where he spent four formative years as a young hockey exec. 4. What's it like to bodycheck a buddy? Bryan Rust knows a little something about that. 5. Olli Maatta was back this weekend and had a lot of nice things to say about Pittsburgh. THREE STARS OF THE PAST WEEK 3. Evgeni Malkin. OK, so he was at least partially responsible for the Rangers' game-winning goal in overtime Monday. But he has been really good otherwise. He had a pair of assists in the comeback win against the Blackhawks and another Monday. That was a continuation of what he did in the previous week. The Penguins need Malkin to keep this going. 2. Jared McCann. McCann scored the shootout winner against the Blackhawks and got the team's first power play goal in a month in the loss to the Rangers. Going back to last week, McCann has two goals and four assists in his last four games with a plus-6 rating. 1. Matt Murray. He stopped 29 of 31 shots against Chicago and kept hope alive in New York after they got off to shaky start. They've lost in regulation in only four of his 15 starts. PENGUINS STAT LEADERS Goals: 8, Guentzel Assists: 12, Crosby Points: 17, Crosby +/-: +12, McCann PIMs: 17, Blueger Save %: .929, Jarry Wins: 9, Murray IT’S A GREAT WEEK FOR HOCKEY Friday @ 7 p.m.: Penguins at Devils. Three days after getting their first look at Rangers rookie Kaapo Kakko, which wasn't pretty, the Penguins have to chase after Jack Hughes for the first time. The speedy Devils center, picked first overall ahead of Kakko in June, has nine points in 17 games. Not bad. Hughes, a native of Florida, also has a minus-7 rating. Not good. Saturday @ 7 p.m.: Penguins vs. Maple Leafs. No Crosby for the Penguins and no Mitch Marner for the Leafs. The Leafs still have a few more big names, including American-born center Auston Matthews, but so far they have been pretty disappointing. With this being the second half of a back-to-back, Tristan Jarry could get his first start since Oct. 23. Tuesday @ 7 p.m.: Penguins vs. Islanders. The Penguins, as you probably recall, got a small measure of revenge last week when they rallied from three goals down to beat the Islanders in Brooklyn. The Islanders since then have started another streak and are one of four teams that entered Thursday with a better goal differential than the Penguins, who are plus-13. Thursday @ 7 p.m.: Penguins at Islanders. Jeez. These guys again? The Penguins and the Islanders play for the third time in 15 days.  They won't meet again until March 15. STAT OF THE WEEK 4 – consecutive games in which the Penguins have fallen behind by two or more goals. Improbably, they won two of them and lost Monday's game in Manhattan in OT, earning a point. Opponents have scored first in 11 of the past 13 games, in part because the Penguins have just eight first-period goals. They should probably score some of those. QUOTE OF THE WEEK "I will be fire." – Evgeni Malkin, inspired by a fire alarm, on stepping up with Crosby out. EXITING THE ZONE I'll use this space to share quick Penguins tidbits, hot takes and random thoughts on hockey and life. ... Losing Crosby stings but it would hurt a lot, lot more had they not gotten off to a good start despite all their other injuries. They shouldn't fall too far behind the pack with a record like 8-11-4 in his absence. ... Now would be a great time for Nick Bjugstad to produce. I like Bjugstad as a player and he's one heck of a dude. But the points haven't been there for his linemates and him since arriving in February. ... Looks like Evgeni Malkin and Jake Guentzel will skate together against the Devils. Eager to see if that union works. Not sure if their games mesh. ... Wrote about this Monday and it still holds true today. Jack Johnson has been pretty decent so far this season. Heck, even advanced stats back that up. Playing a lot with John Marino helped. But let's give credit where it's due. ... You should really read this story my partner, Mike DeFabo, wrote about a homeless veteran who was looking for a place to sleep outside PPG Paints Arena while the Pens recognized Veterans Day inside. Sobering stuff. subscribe here: https://my.post-gazette.com/newsletters/?utm_source=pg.com&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=newsletter-subscribe&utm_content=navbar

Answer 17 Questions, Tag 17 People
yoinked from @tricky-pockets  thanks for sharing.
Nickname: My name starts with A and it’s only two syllables but my parents have still managed to shorten it by occasionally calling me just “A” sounds like “Ayy” (finger guns not included)
Zodiac: No thank you. Technically Aries but no astrology anything has ever really related to me and I don’t know how to tell what my moon sign or sun sign or w/e is. One of my greatest accomplishments in life was when I almost convinced someone for 3 minutes that I just wasn’t born with an astrological sign (all the stars were out that day).
Height: middle sized. would like to be exactly 3 inches taller to round myself off at a nice even 5′10″
Hogwartz House: Thunderbird
Last thing I googled: uhhh I google so many things in a day, just now I googled the phonetic alphabet transcription of “A” for the first question. I didn’t end up using it but it was eɪ.  But the most interesting thing I last googled to really learn about something and not just check I got a term right was about DNA strands and whether or not they connect at the long ends to make a big squiggly double helix cirlce. For us and most other eukaryotes the answer is No, we have linear chromosomes, but it seems like bacteria do have circular chromosomes which means the long ladder-like molecular strand of DNA connects end to end! ......I’m in a microbiology class this semester :)
Song stuck in my head: La la-la la la-la laaaa song from Hadestown musical
Lucky Number(s): I like to pick 13 just because it seems unfair that 13 gets no love and also it’s a nice little prime, stop being mean to 13 everybody!
Dream Job: ahhhh fuck man I can’t address this question in a sane manner right now, you’ll need to ask me this question again when I’m not up against actively trying to build myself an art career.
Wearing: green corduroy pants and a School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) sweatshirt. (not actually the art college that I attend! I’m sneaky like that)
Favourite Author: Ursula K LeGuin, followed by Terry Pratchett, and then lots of other authors I can’t remember right now...
Favourite Instrument: Piano. I can’t play it, or any other instrument, but if I had a random fairy wish I’d ask to be granted with the ability of piano playing.
Aesthetics: Moss and lichen and other neutral colors, nature anything aesthetic. Also orange incandescent city lights reflecting on wet streets or fog or anything that’s part spooky part ephemeral and big time sublime. Am I doing this right?  predominately Minimalism and Absurdism.
Favourite Song: hmmmmm right now I’m gonna pick “Shelter from the Storm” by Bob Dylan
Favourite Animal Noise: Walrus whistle. It’s just so haunting and unexpected a noise for a big tusky whiskery Walrus to make
Random: I can swim really good. Like really really good. It doesn’t come up a lot but I was on a swim team from age five up until the last year of high school, doing like 1000s of yards in the pool 6 days out of 7. And I stopped to attend an Arts college that didn’t have swimming facilities or a team so I fell out of the practice of swimming everyday and now I really miss it a lot. I plan to get back into Masters level swimming and open water swimming as soon as I can manage after graduation.
I’m gonna follow Sam’s lead and just open this question post up to any of my followers who are interested! Go for it! Break the rules! Do more crime! I stole it and so can you~~~~~

Podcast #361: The Untold Story of WWII’s 45th Infantry Division
When many people think of the American involvement in WWII, they likely bring to mind the 101st Airborne Division (aka the Band of Brothers) and their heroics at Normandy. But there was another American infantry division that took part in the largest amphibious assault in world history (no, it wasn’t D-Day) and then fought a year in Europe before the 101st even showed up. All in all, this division saw over 500 days of combat. They were the Thunderbirds of the 45th infantry division and my guest today was written a captivating history of this oft forgotten group of soldiers.  His name is Alex Kershaw and he’s written several books on WWII. The book we discuss today is The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey from the Beaches of Sicily to the Gates of Dachau. Alex begins by sharing what made the 45th different from other infantry divisions and discusses why they’re often forgotten. He then talks to us about a colonel from Arizona named Felix Sparks who always led from the front and fought side by side with his men for over two years. We get into some of the major battles the 45th encountered and their liberation of the concentration camp at Dachau. Alex ends our conversation with a call to all of us reach out to a WWII vet before they all leave this life (which is not far off).  Show Highlights * How Alex got into writing WWII stories  * What made the 45th different from other divisions? * The interesting story of the 45th’s insignia * The cultural and geographic makeup of the 45th  * What the Nazis thought of the 45th  * Why the 45th doesn’t get much recognition, despite their 500+ days in combat  * Who is Felix Sparks? * Why Kershaw considers Felix Sparks the most inspiring figure of WWII * The story of the Battle of Anzio  * How Sparks dealt with incredible losses in his division  * Why Sparks’ leadership was so compelling * How the men reacted upon coming to Dachau  * What Kershaw considers the greatest achievement in American history  Resources/People/Articles Mentioned in Podcast * The Bedford Boys by Alex Kershaw * Battle of the Bulge * Operation Torch * Battle of Anzio * Podcast: Untold Stories from the Band of Brothers * Dachau * The Day of the Americans Connect With Alex  Alex’s website Alex on Twitter Alex on Instagram  Listen to the Podcast! Note
(Please answer quickly thx!) I put a school down on my TRF as REA but can you change your mind and apply RD? Can you possibly cancel a transcript request?
Response from Thunderbird:
I would definitely email your counselor and the transcript office ASAP: since the deadline was so soon, they might be able to honor your request. I think it would be handled on a case by case basis, but maybe they’ll be more lenient since you’re asking them to do less work? Good luck anon!
Response from Cho:
Yes, you can cancel a transcript request. Don’t wait to do it though.

TAG - S2E18 ‘Grandma Tourismo’ Review
Well…
What an episode.
As much as I missed the rest of the brother’s today, I did like having an episode that finally focused on Grandma a little more. Since we’ve seen less of this version of her – apart from as a supporting character – it was nice to have that development.
So, things we learnt in this episode are going first;
1. Grandma’s name is Sally. Sally Tracy. Well, someone had to name her I suppose. I was wondering when the time would come around for a name reveal, since she’s always just been called “Grandma”.
2. The boys do still play snooker in this verse! Where the hell they keep that table I’ve no clue.
3. Scott cares a lot about his hair… Hmm, like we hadn’t worked that out. P.S. I still want to know about this Virgil and Gordon hairdryer situation.
4. Grandma once travelled the world. The money must have come from her side of the family then, because we know Jeff’s dad was a farmer/agriculturalist.
5. Grandma can also fly and it seems, taught her son.
Tumblr media
One thing I picked up on this week, though was strange and I think ITV have either missed a trick or very belatedly decided to inform us of a complete shake up.
So (I’m not going to dare go into full territory on this because the debate is long and varies depending on your view), in TOS, there was always some contentment as to Virgil and John’s ages and question as to who was older, for many reasons. Personally, I’ve always worked with John being the second child and Virgil the third. (That doesn’t mean you can’t have it the other way, if that’s how you work!)
However, the ITV series has led us to believe from the first episode and onwards, that they are working with John being older than Virgil, other thing which seems confirmed by the ages they gave for the brothers on their website;
Scott: 23, John: 22, Virgil: 21, Gordon: 19, Alan: 14.
So from this, we can all assume they meant John to be older – and I think a lot of us writers over on ff – have been working and writing with that. However, in this episode we hear the line,
“You’re braver than I am, big brother.”
From John. Which kind of throws Gordon’s spanner into the wrench. I would quite appreciate ITV sorting that out for us.
Moving swiftly on...
I have to interject and say that I just love the dice with the niffy Thunderbird Two logo on - thank you, Fischler, they are a far sight better than your logoed jumpsuits. A new good luck charm maybe?
Tumblr media
A shopping trip. And not just any shopping trip. A complete restock of the island just Virgil and Grandma. Not to mention, John was certainly worried.
Tumblr media
I think Virgil did a very good job at hiding his sarcasm.
“Let’s do some shopping.”
“This is going to be so much fun.”
Tumblr media
Of course, we have to remember he said that before he saw the list. Like this shot at the end, you can just see him, tired and be forced into finishing what they started, skim-reading and desperately questioning why everyone needs so much. Then we get to piano strings of course - any idea who those might be for, Virge?
Tumblr media
Even so, I think he’s glad when John interrupts. It saved him from having to spend all morning looking at tracksuits.
Tumblr media
Something that made me laugh was the Manager of the shop running after them when they left the shop. Why would you think International Rescue were going to steal from you? Especially if we take from Grandma,
“Hey!”
”Put it on our tab.”
That they shop there a lot?
Tumblr media
It did make me chuckle though, so it’s kind of okay.
Of course, we know Virgil can’t be in two places at the same time. Still, I think we can all recognise that look the boys get about their ships.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m still trying to work out how he’ll feel about the very minor scratches to the paintwork! Still, John was right, in fairness to Grandma, for something big an heavy - 406 tonnes apparently - which she’d never flown before she didn’t do bad at all.
Tumblr media
And we have to give credit to those moves across the quarry. International Rescue, risking life and limb.
Tumblr media
I’m also very appreciative of the design to the remote piloting graphics. They look very nice. Virgil is certainly skilled at it too, for I can’t imagine its easy to fly a ship you’re not in.
Tumblr media
I think John ends up worrying too much. I’m actually surprised none of these brothers ever have panic or heart attacks from their line of work and the amount of worry and stress they must encounter (especially for each other). But then again, I’ll just put it how Virgil did;
“It’s my job, Grandma.”
I think his brothers would all agree. When they’re not left worrying.
Tumblr media
Poor, poor Virgil. All that heavy lifting! He kept shifting those rocks for nothing. I really felt for him when he thought it was over.
Tumblr media
But then of course we have Grandma to save the day!
Tumblr media
And obviously, the crew were doubtful about that;
“Well don’t you worry, I’ll be there any minute. You tell the others.“ “FAB. My Grandma says don’t worry. She’s coming to pick us up.” “You’re Grandma?”
And you can just see the look on Virgil’s face - I like to think it says, ‘you don’t know my Grandma - yet.’
Tumblr media
And that led to one of my favourite moments of this episode, the brother’s joint:
“You?”
Tumblr media
Another moment I quite enjoyed was our lovely ending. We got to see International Rescue hang around long enough to get some thanks for once in the TAG verse, but that meant we also got to see this;
Tumblr media
Virgil was not expecting that. Bless him though, the way his shoulders dropped in the final moments when he realises - No shower, just shopping.
Tumblr media
Of course this is me, so I cannot help myself when it comes to a little scenery.
This was a shot I particularly liked;
Tumblr media
But this is one that I think Virgil could appreciate too: I mean, look at his face;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I’m going to leave everyone with a little game/task – whatever you like.
These were the items I managed to pull from the clearly extensive shopping list. Let’s see if we can match them to the right brother, I think a few are easy;
Multi-vitamins, snooker cues, apple pie, bagels, lemon squeezer, pillow case, anti-rust spray, extra cable. super shine, toilet paper, hairspray, Hawaiian shirts, plant food, protein powder, celery crunch bars, toothpaste, piano strings, fire extinguishers, tanning lotion, tofu.
And yes, pictures have returned!
Episode transcript link to follow shortly.
