forever mourning how granada holmes never adapted the three garridebs. diabolical. unbelievable, even. 'if you had killed watson you would not have made it out of this room alive' but in brett's frightfully intense and low, biting, hissing voice. the violent, wild stare versus the gentle hand on watson's knee. all of that precarious control getting flung out the window. the humanity of it. gritting my teeth can you fucking imagine.

It gets me every time just how PROUD Watson is to be Holmes’ partner. He’s constantly talking about how he knows Holmes better than anyone, and can recognize his mood and mannerisms no matter how subtle. How he’s trusted with information that the public will never know, because HE WAS THERE AT HIS SIDE. How he takes pleasure in just being there, admiring Holmes, and in being as useful to him as possible.

My “favourite” thing to see - annoyed creators that made incredible queer coded couples of “friends, partners, colleagues”, but don’t want to admit them as gay because of their stubbornness and “it was not where they were going”.

Meanwhile the fandom is creating the most heart wrenching arts, edits, fics about them. And even non-shippers are raising their brows and joining the chat.

07x01 The Three Gables

There is so many great things in those scenes, it was really hard to sum it up in a few gifs. This little hand of Holmes at the beginning, he's abrupt reaction to Mrs Hudson's words, covering her in his blanket, entering the estate with agitation, his little smile when he heard that Watson had his breakfast - because it means his husband is well, right? Don't get me started on "Physician, heal thyself" and the pat on the arm, it cracks me up so much. Holmes is absolutely feeling for his partner in need but he doesn't really know how to behave.

Serious question here that for some reason I can't stop thinking about: did Holmes go to Watson's wedding (if, of course, he had one... or multiple), because I refuse to believe he didn't at least get an invite.

I mean, Dr Watson is in love with this man, he's not going to not invite him just because he said he doesn't agree with weddings. And, to me Holmes is fine with marriage as long as it's him and Watson getting married (going off piste but whatever), but half of that was coming true at least- Watson was marrying someone.

Did Holmes turn up at the church and sit at the back on his own, was he closer to the front, did he talk to the guests? Did he just slip in quietly, than leave as quickly as he came, back to Baker Street with cocaine bottle as his companion? Did Watson notice that he was there? I don't know if this is historically accurate and I'm not in the mood to check, but did he leave a present? Maybe a new pocket watch for Watson, one less damaged and containing less bad memories of alcoholic brothers? Did he even get through the church doors?

And was Watson waiting for him? Before they begun the wedding vows, did his eyes hopefully search the room then lower in disappoint when he couldn't see that familiar, hawk-like face? Did he think he wasn't important enough for Holmes to change his bohemian habits and see him on the most important day of his life?

Or did Holmes turn up and they got a little too drunk together, unseemly for a Victorian crowd, and everything was okay? The last option? Okay, the last option then.

sign of the four is far from my favorite Holmes story but it's got a HELL of an opening. Watson watching Holmes meticulously inject himself with cocaine. The quasi-romantic description of his 'long, white, nervous fingers'. Describing it as a 'performance' done with 'extreme deliberation', presumably for Watson's benefit. The reveal that he's been doing it three times a day for months. Watson being intensely worried for his friend, but not having said ANYTHING for months because Holmes is too 'cool and nonchalant'. Finally only speaking up because he got accidentally drunk at lunch, and then desperately trying to sound casual as he asks if Holmes is doing morphine or cocaine. And then Holmes offers him some. toxic situationship of all time.
