I literally Judy woke up this king this (which means I must have been dreaming about yournau); does Heather dying here signify a raping io we're about to grt to? Our only medic being taken out because she's outlived her usefulness? We and the other councilors won't be patched up after this, not only because Heather's dead, but because there won't be a chance to, and that's part of why she died?

(I mean clearly she died bc we saved Devin—which is so clever I didn't Know that was the choice w were making I 100% would have chosen to have Heather if I knew god it'd such a good story—buy you even put symbolism into thr spiderweb ans the rabbit's foot thing, so like)

The story is definitely wrapping up soon (though we've still got a couple more chapters left to go), but Heather hasn't outlived her usefulness just yet... consider that Chet still served a use only recently :)

The reasoning behind her early departure isn't as simple as it seems, but I'm afraid it's impossible to explain while still dodging spoilers. You'll just have to wait and see!

I can't with people who put Aang on some sort of pedestal for being a child. Like he can and has made many selfish decisions, mistakes, and errors and that's okay but Aang Glazers cannot fathom the boy isn't a deus ex machina.

Have I said I love when asks give me an opening to rant? So I will rant LMAO. Very light spoilers from HOFAS warning.

You'll probably find people who think Sarah is the most progressive, groundbreaking, and deals with thorny real-life subjects wonderfully. I'm very much not one of the. In fact, most of the time she tries to broach such topics, I end up sighing a lot, burying my head in my hands and saying "Sarah, please, for the love of God get yourself sensitivity readers".

Crescent City is the worst offender in this regard, House of Sky and Breath particularly because we are dealing directly with thr human rebellion. Bryce is SJMs mouthpiece in this series and so many times I wanted to tell her to shut the fuck up. Humanity is treated no better than objects or food in many parts of the world, prey for the vanir; born with no life, into subjugation, stripped of their dignity and their world. And still there she goes, condemning the Human Rebellion for what — rising up and fighting against their oppressors? Every time we met the rebels, from what recall, I was "Am I supposed to agree with here Bryce?"

After fifteen thousand years... you want the humans to ask nicely? That worked really well for them, so far?

Same with ACOTAR: the humans... are very fair in being scared and hate the fae? The Wall, the only thing keeping THEM safe is down and look at the continent! The Fae realms are already salivating to invade human lands. But the fear is unwarranted? "But not all fae!" true, but I don't blame them for being wary and "Fuck off". Midgard is worse because it was the Humans (and the Merfolk) who lived there before and they lived in peace.

It's clear for me that Sarah writes these topics from a position of privilege. You are correct: she lacks an understanding of the topics she is handling, has no interest in getting beyond surface level and, therefore, ends up writing things that at best tone-deaf and at worst fully hypocritical and problematic. And the framing. The framing of how these character are the heroes and in the right drives me up a goddamn wall.

HoFaS shows us that the Fae can be very, very horrible and bloodthirsty, which rings hollow for me with how much shit she gives humans for fighting back with force. I wish Bryce's human side mattered more (half the time, she's so connected to the Fae side you 100% forget), or that we had a human protagonists for this series.

In short: her take on oppression and colonization is shallow and privileged and tone-deaf.

okay so ngl... it's really not that different from canon i think? i really don't know much abt my own damn au atm cause i mostly think of it during work and for some reason i literally NEVER write anything down?? idk why???

ALSO TO PREFACE!!! DESPITE HAVING READ DORO IN FULL ABT 4 TIMES NOW AND AM GOING ON A FULL YEAR OF HYPERFIXATION HERE SOON I HAVENT BRUSHED UP ON THE LAST 60-70 CHAPTERS IN A MINUTE SO SORRY IF I MAKE A STUPID MISTAKE!!!

this shit is all 100% subject to change later btw:

• genuinely just abt everything that took place in doro takes place in the past during this au, but not in the same way or with the same characters. ik some stuff 100% wouldnt make sense because of this, BUT BLEHH ILL FIGURE IT OUT LATERR!!! literally jist like.. remove everything involving aikawa and risu and replace it with violent social unrest or smth idk yet...

• ne way, this takes place 100 years after the kaiman holey fight, but in this au it wasnt our kaiman

• the sorcerer and human world have been permanately sealed off from each other since hole fight

• humans at this point dont necessarily believe sorcerers even exist anymore due to this, but the older generations (the few people who live to be like 80-100+) are still somewhat afraid of them and think that some may still be in hole (they are)

• abt hole and this is gonna need a lot of reworking, but like.. idk. basically some humans worship hole as a modern god, taking everything that happrned as absolute truth and churches sprung up around holey, worshiping large statues made of his bones and stuff. the statues do still work as they did in base doro, but they arent as widespread anymore? theyre way more popular with older people and thr newly religous folk, but most people see them as some sort of novelty at this point and they arent widely owned outside of churches and hospitals anymore

• the refuse lake also is back kinda? but its mostly a normal lake now, but the water is still extremely tar like in some parts so its still gated off

• in the socerer world, all information regarding humans and the hole have been banned from being spoken about or learned by the general public. personal doors are also prohibited to be used/learned to be used and anyone who CAN use them that uses them unsanctioned will face capitol punishment or smth. really only the devils and en family know abt hole and shit (theres more people of course, but these are details idk yet)

• n e way, in modern era nikaido and aikawa (sigh we will get to him last...) work together at the hungry bug still

• nikaidos story is literally almost exactly the same. she is still being pseudo hunted by the en family because they got word of a time traveling socerer like howveer long ago and are trying to hunt her down in secret (they dont know its her directly tho)

• kasukabe/haze is still just chillin tho. he is nearly unchanged, still wrote books on socerers (however they were written more historically for a while, then eventually he met haru and they became research/science based) snd took ai as an appretenice, but his work outside of human medicine is thought of as crackpot conspiricy talk or entirely fictional. him and haru are stil married/divorced, haru is also atill a devil and he still has a skin door to the sorcerer world

• ive had some ideas abt shin, mostly that his mom was killed alongside his dad after someone tipped off the  militia that there was somehow still sorcerers in the hole. they investigated their home for a bit and caught her using a door, so they raided the home and slaughted his family in front of him. from there shins story doesnt change much at all rn tbh

• the en family is still highly regarded and very opressive in the socerer world. they dont destroy schools anymore because duh no black powder, but they (with some devil influenece as well) heavily regulate what is taught. resistence against the en family, namely trying to learn about doors and hole, are cruely punished to show they arent fucking around, despite them still having acess to the hole and knowing (somewhat) the true events of what lead to them being separated

• i havent put much thought into the fate of the cross eyes in this au yet, but ive had some ideas? they arent the cross eyes (yet) but, they (our commanders + natsuki and risu) were low ranking memebers who are part of a resistance against the en family that attempts to fight their opression/censorship of history and some higher ups (not the commanders rn) are even trying to figure out how to make a door to the hole or smth

• this is abt all i have rn (im also super tired writing this ugh), so sigh... aikawa time i suppose... this part is gonna be long and confusing and 99% of everything ive talked abt so far was stemed from this, so heres a barely tldr tldr becase im probably making a seperate post when im not so tired. okay TLDR: ai was always disallusioned with being a human becauee his grandpa told him about sorcerers and magic and shit, so he fully bought into hazes entire catalouge of books taking thrm as gospel. eventually he meets haze and works under him, getting close enough to see some of his studies on sorcerer corpses. due to the corpses having smoke/black powder and were killed with hatred for their fellow sorcerers (they were killed by the en family), it starts to slowly affect ais young brain and the seed of a new hole have been planted blah blah, anyway he starts having horrific nightmares from the pov of hole from over a century ago and starts hearing shit cause hes already really mentally unwell. pretyu much from here it goes thr same as base doro for rn. he begs haze to help him become a sorcerer, he has all his plans snd shit tk make it work with the "fresh corpses" (either murders or bodies provided by haru) haze has access to, but haze refuses. ai just gets worse as time goes on, but him being a little emo freak he never actually vocalizes it, but as per cannon he decided to just force hazes hand. one night haze and ai were illegally hunting for potential relics of hole or the events surrounding that around the older parts of the refuse lake whrn ai ended up throwing himself into the tar. however instead of throwing himself in the refuse lake cause he needs a corpse he was compelled by hallucinations or smth to throw himself in. haze saves him and ends up doing the surgery om him blah blah literally its not that different from here, ai still "dies" and is buried he was also made of the 9(?) corpses so hes till got all his heads ans shit. when he rises this time tho instead of going to the sorcerer world he goes to haze again immediatly and begs him not to tell anyone. from here on haze hides him ot smth since he looks so different now no ones gonna recognize him or whatevs

Amity will be papyrus, that is 100%. Wants to capture a human to be the best royal guard and make her parents proud, but ends up falling in love with luz and going on a real date

Edric/Emera will be the goofy, Tease their little sibling, take you out to lunch, parts of sans

Lilith is either going to be gaster or the parts of sans that are mysterious. Judges you at the hallway and knows about timeliness and stuff, has the strange machine in her basement. I think. This is the part that I'm flip flopping on. I want her to still curse Eda, maybe she used to be a royal scientist and it was an experiment gone wrong and she was fired. (Hunter will be the next royal scientist aka the alphys in this au) im not sure, I'm still figuring her out. Honestly making something different with her and not confining her to one character could be interesting

I also thought about (OWL HOUSE FINALE SPOILERS) Papa titan being gaster, and when luz dies during the final battle against the collector (asriel) she will be revived by papa titan like in the finale in order to defeat him

Then Phillip/belos is an amalgamate. He was the human who caused the war and trapped them underground, him included, and after the witches asked him to use his human soul to set them free he refused, so they kept him in the lab to use his determination. Theyve kelt him alive and stripped him of his determination for so long and ends up the goopy mess

Raine will be Asgore. The clawthornes I'm thinking were the royal family but after Lilith was fired and Eda fled the castle to the ruins, Raine was left with the task to rule. They've got the "I'm doing this because I have to" attitude

He is the one that caused belos to become goopy by desperately trying to keep him alive to save all the witches and demons. He is ashamed of his failure and thinks he will be cast out for it like Lilith was

Gus will be mettaton. Using his showman skills, he puts luz to the test by having her complete illusion based challenges. Like which object is a bomb covered by an illusion, stuff like that. I'm thinking he wanted to be known for more than his smarts, so he used his dad's TV job as an advantage

Bocha will be in muffets place. "WHAT? How dare you not support the fund of the local grudgby team. What are you? STINGY???"

Kikimora can be mad dummy/mew mew. What if instead of gaining a new body through an anime doll, kikimora becomes tall from an abomination soldier that luz made into a cat face. "It's perfect" ☆u☆

Baldurs Gate 3 thoughts below break to keep your TL free of it if you do not wish to see it. Not spoilers, just thoughts about the current state of the games industry and fandom.

Truth be told, I have not bought a AAA game in...well, it's been about 6 years. I'll admit the last actual "big" game I bought was FFXIV in the middle in the middle of Stormblood. But back then it wasn't really considered a "big game", now it is. Anyways, let's get back to the point.

The bottom line is that as a Canadian living in Ontario, I cannot justify buying a 90$ game that isn't "finished". I hate battle passes, I hate DLC you have to pay for, I hate microtransactions. I hate when a 90$ AAA game starts to cost me 100s. XIV is in its own little bubble because it's an MMO and the rules around that are a little different, so we won't be comparing XIV to BG3 in terms of pricing (but we will be comparing fandom). BG3 for the price, the one and done price, is fucking amazing. The character creator was WAY over hyped, so I'll tell you the truth it's actually really basic, the only thing that's super cool is the fact you can change your gender and such. But otherwise, it's *very* basic in terms of character creator. And I'm not the biggest fan with how it was OVER hyped to me.

Regardless, it's an excellent game. The characters are fantastic, all of them are fantastic, each one has such a unique story and personality. And that's hard to do I'm games like this. Also- EVERYTHING is voiced. And I mean everything. It's so fucking cool and nice and really immerses you into the game. It's amazing, but I will say this game is best enjoyed alone or in a very small group. Do NOT engage with the Fandom aside from sharing pretty art, trust me. This is the XIV fandom but way worse. And I mean way worse.

Between save scumming debates (play how you want, I "save scum" because I spent 90$ I'm going to do what I want), people saying Astarion is gay and only gay (shut the fuck up), and a ton of other drama. Keep your nose out of the Fandom it's nasty in there. It's so nasty. It's arguably worse then XIVTwit and if you've been on XIV Twitter you know what I'm talking about. It's like that but about 1000 times worse. Save yourself and don't join into the community.

I'd even argue to keep it quiet among friends as...there seems to be a LOT of intense emotions around who you romance and such. I keep it between a couple good friends and that's it. And my enjoyment has sky rocketed.

The game is amazing, each character is amazing. But the fans...not so much. The art is great but thr discourse and hot takes is not so nice.

Just watched Across the Spiderverse! That was amazing! Now I can stop avoiding spoilers like the plague!

Definitely gonna want to watch that again soon. There was a lot to take in, and a combination of a late show and a poor sleep schedule left me less than 100% awake, sadly. Not that I mind an excuse to see it nore than once! Gonna love that when I wake up.

Loved the combination of all the animation styles for the different universes.

Since I've had to dodge spoilers left and right, let me put more of my tired thoughts below the cut, for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. They're probably not gonna be in chronological order, but whatever.

- Renaissance Vulture had such a cool animation style. Loved him. Want to see more of the DaVinci notes style animation. That's awesome.

- The Spot is just... *chef's kiss.* He's the perfect blend of goofy joke villain and genuinely terrifying. And he looks like he's a living scetch covered in ink blots, which was such a cool design.

- "Being Spider-Man is easy!" The confidence of this man is unreal. Pavitr is in for a rough time and he has no idea. He does not seem to realize how badly the universe wants to kick him in the nuts because of his new job. Once it stops collapsing like a whiney 3 year old because it didn't get to murder a cop. That's still a thing that never got fully resolved. Hope that works out at some point.

- Peter B. is such a proud dad. Mayday is adorable. Him showing baby pics to everyone with a pair of eyes and trying to get Miles to hold his little bundle of joy was the most wholesome thing. Probably shouldn't be taking your baby to somewhere like that, but she seemed happy. And adorable.

- If all these Spider-Men are just... hanging out in the Spider Society, are they just leaving their universe without its Spider-Man? How is that not causing problems? How often do they have to go home? Gwen says she's been gone for months... and clearly didn't want to go back.

- Spider-Punk was... a lot. Loved him, but honestly had a hard time keeping track of everything during his introduction. There was just a lot going on on there, so my overtired brain had trouble taking it all in. One of the reasons I want to see it again. His whole visual effect was super cool, but... again, want to take it all in when I'm more awake. Think I read somewhere that he overthrew the government? Anyways, loved his vibe, but his colage-like effects did a number on my brain. Hobie seems cool.

- Miguel seems a little... not okay. He looked like he was gonna just straight-up EAT the Vulture instead of sending him home. And he keeps blaming Miles for starting everything, as if he CHOSE to get biten by that spider. Love him, even if he's seemingly starting to lose it.

I just found out there was a post credits scene with him in the first movie when I was trying to double check everyone's names. How did I not know this? He seemed a lot more well-ajusted there. Or at least less crazy. Taking that much weight onto his shoulders must have done quite the number on him.

- Canon Events leave me with so many questions. Since her dad is still alive, Gwen clearly hasn't had the whole "police capitan dies saving a child" event yet, and if he's gonna quit... does that mean that event won't happen? Is that enough to keep him safe? Is she gonna get close to the new captain and have them die? Is her dad still gonna die? Did she just accidentally skip that Canon Event, dooming her entire universe? Or is it not that big a deal?

- How much of the damage we saw was done by Miles saving the captain and not by the Spot? It looked more like the Spot's portals than it did glitchy multiverse rules. Or did Miles just amplify what was already there? If the Spot WASN'T messing everything up, would the damage have been nearly as bad?

- Wait, if the Spot was an anomaly, then how was that a Canon Event? Was something else supposed to happen? Or does the universe just take whatever excuse it can get to force these things to happen and throw a hissy fit if something stops it from happening?

- If Earth 42 doesn't have a Spider-Man, it can't have Canon Events. How is it still in one piece? Is having a Spider-Man created by a spider from that universe enough to keep it together? Or did Miles' dad dying happen as a Canon Event dispite the lack of a Spider-Man to screw with?

- If there wasn't supposed to be two Spider-Men in his universe, and the original Peter died, why does Miles still get forced into Canon Events? I feel like most of the questions I'm asking are either answered with a simple "because that's how the plot works", or it's gonna be super relivent in the next movie. I like overthinking stuff, it helps me sleep!

- Speaking of overthinking stuff to help me sleep, I'm gonna go do that. I'll probably update this with more thoughts in the morning, but its already a miracle I'm still awake.

I've already sunk at least 100 hours into this game and I love it so much. The way I play games is kinda in that I want to get as many of the like,, hundred sidequests done as possible. So I'm just putting off important story beats to help a guy put up horrible signs and taking pictures of birds. I gotta find all these members of a band and then drive them to thr great faries.

And honestly, having all of the sages on at once is a nightmare when I'm just,,trying to gather resources. (The sages are like a bunch of companions and the button to tell them what to do is the same button to pick up items and they're always right on top of me at the worst times)

And im also obsessed with the dragons and riding on them like a fucking flea. I just love hanging out with these massive friends

Finished every THR Adult Novel, and I’m devastated 🥲

Note: My reading order was weird since I was reading with a friend, and she was abroad for a hot second. We read TotJ together, and then I got impatient and jumped into Phase 2 to wait for her. LEAVE ME ALONE IT MADE SENSE AT THE TIME. I obviously don't recommend skipping Phase 2, but it was not detrimental to my reading experience.

TOTJ: This book was masterful. I love, and I mean I LOVE Avar Kriss. The Great Disaster Sequence was incredible, and I think Mr. Soule really did an excellent job of cinematically introducing this universe and setting up the Jedi in their prime. I just WOW the way Avar handled it, the sacrifice everyone went through to protect Hetzal. However, if I’m being honest I kind of forgot the rest of the book. I did a recent reread, and, my HEART, Avar loved Elzar from the start and he just had to go and fuck it up.

TRS: I did not like this book despite everyone raving about it. My friend and I both have the consensus that Elzar is just very problematic, but not like in the way that he IS, but in the way that he isn’t. He can be a very inactive character, and when he is being active, he often makes the wrong choices. I am currently rereading it to find what people like about it so much. I do not dislike Elzar Mann (obviously). I think he is an expertly crafted character

I think from the get-go, I was pissed off at him for revealing he tried to kiss Avar in this public setting where she had just gotten a very big work promotion. I get the Battle of Valo was cool & all, but I genuinely do not remember the key details of the battle or what the stolen lightsaber is about. Everyone always raves about the plot, but I remember thinking that Valo was just a massive distraction. Yes, obviously, I loved Stellan, and I'm sure on my reread, I'll come to appreciate his and Elzar's interactions a lot more.

Convergence: People do not like this one?? I think Convergence is my favorite. Now, I have reread Convergence in its entirety. The first read, I was not that happy until the core four were all together and letting their personalities bounce off each other. I LOVED Axel. I would only refer to him as the gambling addict. He had so much personality, and Gella foiled him so well; it was glorious. I did not like the Xiri & Phan-tu plot line when I intentionally read it, but on my second read, I was like, “Why did I not like this??” I love them.

TFS: I love Stellan. Then I did not like Stellan. But then I had to mourn Stellan. Unfortunately, Stellan’s death was spoiled on Twitter years ago for me, so it definitely had less impact, but my friend was DESTROYED. Now, I will say this, TFS would have been 100% more effective if I had read phase 1 of the comics because I was VERY upset about how Stellan was treating Avar, and I felt like I had very little context. I loved the pacing and the stakes, and I legitimately felt like I was falling myself at times. Gloriously written and probably my second favorite Claudia Gray book.

EOD: Alright. I love Avar Kriss. Her journey and growth through this book REALLY sold me. She felt so raw, real, and devastated the whole time that I cried with her when she got Elzar’s message. I know Stellan is “the golden child” in their little trio, but I can’t help but picture her as the golden child of this era entirely. I could talk for hours about her and how much weight she carries. Every scene with her felt so impactful, special, and growing. I’m not anywhere near close to thirty, but I felt comforted that there is this representation of growth still in your thirties, like I somehow needed to see it.

…Elzar was hamletting the whole time. I’m glad he got a message to her, but I really want him to have more impact in the future. Also, I’m not trying to exclude Bell from my notes, but I think his story is pretty great, if a smidge formulaic. He’s likable, growing, and on the path to becoming great. Elzar & Avar are more messy and commentatable (made-up word).

TotF: I was PISSED Bell didn’t have a POV. I think that’s what bothered me the MOST about this book. I know Burry is like Bell’s bff and all but I wanted BELL. Give me back his POV. Also, whatever Burry was doing was lowkey forgettable. I’m not sure if I really vibe with the blight threat. Elzar did something, I guess, but he was def still Hamletting. Avar gobbled every scene she was in. I do think he had major growth when he rejected Avar at first. I was proud of him for being self-aware because, in TRS, I was lowkey tired of his lusting for her. That whole book, he was like, “I wish I was fucking Avar rn, please, please, please, where is she” After she said no, like, c’mon, I get those are his thoughts, but I was tired of it. I think it is incredibly good NOW, like, “Oh, before he had uncontrollable lust, and now it has evolved into something healthy.” And obviously, if I want two characters to be together, I’m glad one wanted the other so badly sexually, but even in my reread of ToTJ, Avar LOVED him so positively and selflessly. She puts her reputation on the line to get him promoted because, yes, he’s a friend, but she LOVES that man. Wtvr, I’m glad they’re practicing, and I’m glad they killed a Nameless together s/o Elzar for the killing blow. I’ll give him that. Also, I love Xylan.

The Tempest Breaker: My first audio drama EVER, and I LOVED it. I gobbled it up in like a day during a roadtrip. Like I mentioned previously, I haven’t read the comics, so I had to do some Googling for Keeve & all that. Even without vital context, I think the plot & presentation spoke for themselves. Obviously, I’m going to comment on Elzar’s insane behavior. I would have slapped him. I know Avar was acting emotionally, but idgaf she was right. However... I found it very in character. Even if I was unhappy with him (again), he was there to balance her when she needed it. Avar needed that calm. She grew so much within two scenes, and I love her sm. Also??? Lourna's ex-gf lusting over Avar like crazy in THAT dress?? I need concept art??? Why do we have concept art of Lourna dancing with Marchion but none of Avar in the hot dress?? This is discrimination against wuh luh wuh tbh.

I’m actually writing a companion fanfic about Elvar to this audio drama rn not to promote, but if you want my full thoughts… I’ll let that fic speak for itself.

Also, huge fan of Tey. I'll be on the lookout for the Phase 2 comics for him. My one criticism is that Marc reads Avar with a british accent, and Avar's actress here is American... Yeah, I sometimes had a bit of trouble clarifying Quin and Avar's voices.

The Battle of Jedha: I listened to this after my reread of Convergence. I have SO many questions. First of all, why did they pick JEDHA? Second, why weren’t Xiri & Phan-tu there?? I know Master Sun was like, "Newlyweds have more important things to be doing," except no they don't what are you talking about. Third, why couldn’t they just Zoom for the treaty at the rate things were going so long?? No more questions: only love for Master Sun. Oh, and the pious droid. Apparently, people like Marda Ro, but I found her actually insufferable. She yelled at that kid for giving Master Shoh a flower, the kid cried, and then Marda was like, "jk I'm glad you gave her that flower." ...girl make up your mind and leave the child alone.

And before I get jumped, no, I did not read PoD. I read the Wookieepedia Summary because the audiobook for PoD was thirty-two dollars. (I'm sorry, Mrs. Gratton; I bought a paperback and the audiobook of TotF please forgive me).

This was definitely way more overstimulating than Tempest Breaker in terms of ...everything. It took me way longer to get through. I liked it. It genuinely felt like I was there.

Cataclysm: I haven’t crashed out about a character this hard since Jaime Lannister in GøT season 8. Axel Greylark committed what felt like personal betrayals against me. I screamed for his release. I cried when I saw him so sick, and I cheered when Gella got him out. I begged for him to be fixed, and not even Gella could. He left her when she was hurt, and I lost it. He hurt my Gella. I should have recorded myself listening to this. It was stubbing my toe over and over and then hearing, “Jaime. My name’s Jaime,” echoing around me. He devastated me. I’ve never been so livid in my life. I prayed he would change, but then I prayed he would get on his knees whimpering for forgiveness only to be slapped by Gella. I got embarrassed when Gella kept trying to reason with him. Then I cheered when he FINALLY, and I mean FINALLY, did the right thing. My delusional ass knew it all along!!! I'm appalled that there's not more content of Gella & Axel out there. I know, I know, I know, he's toxic and inexcusable.

...BUT WE ALL NEED SOME TOXICITY IN OUR LIVES!! It's okay in moderation, I swear I swear I swear. Plus, he said he was sorry, and in his head he said he loved her omg redemption YAY! (I'm still delusional).

…the child character was so annoying. Also, Xiri & Phan-tu were driving me crazy, please, for the love of GOD, say ‘I love you’ when you hang up the phone on your spouse. I wasn't the biggest fan of Yaddle tbh. I was destroyed whenever Master Sun broke his femur that like lowkey set me off. I'm still crashing out over Axel; why did he DO that...

ALSO??? The way Dr. Kang writes battles is INSANE; that woman has so much strength there.

Final Notes:

I am not sure how to feel about Lina Soh. They def do not put enough focus on her. She came in very strong, but I can't help but feel that she's been diluted and is lacking the power she needs. Chancellor Greylark felt like she carried a lot of weight in P2. Although maybe that's because it was so pivotal to Axel's character that she "cared more about her work than him," but I need more Soh. I need like at least four POV chapters of her in Trials. Is her son still missing?? What is going on with that?? My main actual issue with THR is the lack of politicking tbh. Mr. Soule opened so strongly with this epic cinematic golden age of the Republic, and yet I see very little *democratic* promotion.

I did not talk about Marchion Ro because omfg that man is crazy. I am a little worried they're giving him the (show) Ramsay Bolton treatment, making him too invincible and horrendous. Like, when he kicked that cat?? Insane behavior. I'm glad that Ghirra is there to play the complex/conflicted villain as a foil. I'm not saying Marchion isn't complex, but his main attribute (for me) is that he is crazy & evil. I think it works logistically because he is surrounded by people fit to govern when he is off being crazy. I don't know. I love his whole setup. Every chapter in ToTF had me being like, "More! More Marchion!" then it would cut to Graf, and I would be like, "You know what? Hell yeah!" Also, I hate Ghirra. Her delusion levels are unmatched (except for me and Gella about Axel, but at least Gella came to her senses).

Also, I did not mention Vernestra, but I enjoyed her in ToTF. I think Elzar needed someone to be mad at him. Not sure how to feel about her in the Acolyte? I guess I'll never know now LOL

I will say this: Every character works. Across these novels, very little space is wasted. I can tell how much effort & love went into these projects. Everyone has a purpose, a goal, an obstacle, and a foil. They have all grown (except... Marchion?), and even when they hurt my favorites, I understand.

I have DNF'd a lot of Star Wars books. Aftermath 1, Master and Apprentice (sorry, Claudia), Thrawn: Treason, and Ahsoka (DNF'd this TWICE, sorry, I simply cannot do it). They don't all work for me! But every Adult High Republic Novel has (enough to reread FOUR of them!). I really appreciate this corner of the galaxy, and I'm sad to see it end when I have just now found it.

(Also, someone please write Gella & Axel content IAMBEGGING).

realized that i had a dream a while back about BURGER KING. I remember eating on city outsidr LINCOLN, right kver the river in SOUTH DAKOTA. You'd have tk see the architecture but it seems cold old and full of ruined dreams.

Anyway, my birth dad NATHAN either pretended to get sick or was sick from a burger. No onion. I ate the same thing? He was going on for about 10 minutes fake throwing up. Now, i think he was warding another dream from happening. He did this shit A LOT with me. Sk naturally, when i had a dream about this really pretty RUSSIAN on CB, it's our marriage. But reserve some spoilers of thr location ect.

My whole family is their besides my birth dad. Probably I banned him. Or he remained banned. TIM and TIMA were lustfully checking out my bride. And also aunt RUTH glaring with huge eyes like some closet psycho. But, i didn't sense anything evil concerning the marriage. My birth dad's side also uncle STEVE and he seemed he had cancer.

Well. One cool thing i wanted was to meet someone while i was stil broke. And i instead am thinking she'd fall in love, quit hooking, and join me on this wild adventure towards the Kingdom. into either Eternal Life (the Father) or denial (remaining dead / counted under Sin / resting on works and remaining outside of faith in Christ.

Thelall on that self improvment do more shit. And we who abide believe it is by faith only. either way, the works follow after faith not before it. And not together either. More later about the "alchemy" of faith alone ...

Marriage is 100% partnership. I want a girl who is smart enough to want Good. To seek Good through Christ and to save their own soul when His Spirit finds them asking. So can i get the "Ask, seek, knock" sauce and trust the recipes in the Bible. "Draw near to Christ and HE will draw near to you." And "no one who trusts in HIM will ever be put to shame."

Wilder Girls Ch. 1 - 3

Yesterday, I read up to about half of chapter 4. So I'll sum up and do my thoughts on what I've read so far up to chapter 3. 

Before that though I'll talk about how I'm liking the book so far. The first few paragraphs I was kind of lost. The book just jumps in and starts going. Once I understood what was going on, it was okay. Things aren't always explained all the way in spots. Then later we get more information. These chapters are long, so sometimes it seems like ages before we get more info on something. I', not sure if the author does this to keep people's attention, or if that's just how the story needs to play out yet. So far, the story is good. I'm just hoping it gets better and questions are answered.

Ch.1

The book starts off pretty fast. I was confused about things for a minute. Hetty, the main character (I do believe) and her friend Byatt are out on shooting duty. Hetty talks about how her right eye is dead. The lid fused together, and something is growing underneath. I was like, "What?? Something's growing underneath?" She then goes to say that everyone is sick or strange, and no one knows why. People have things bursting out of them and bits missing. So if you went into the book blind you wouldn't know about the Tox. So this is what she's referring to with the sick, and bits missing, ext. 

The school they are in started off with 100 students and 20 teachers. They could fill both wings of the school in the beginning, and now they only need one. So, about half, if not more, have died from the Tox. Hetty said things burst out of people or bits are missing. Her friend Reese has scales on her arm from the Tox, which ruined her trigger finger. She used to be the best shot. This is how we're indraduced to Reese. We then see that food is brought in by Boat Shift: people that go out and get rations from the Navy. They are on Raxter Island, where they were told to quarantine. Only Boat Shift is allowed to leave the fence. So when food is brought in, everyone is allowed one thing, and the rest goes to rations for meals. Hetty goes through a bag and sees an orange with a bit of mold. She says they hardly ever get fresh fruit. As she goes for it, Reese tackles her, and they fight for the orange. A knock-out drag out fight over a piece of food, among friends just goes to show you that things aren't really good. 

Ch.2

At first, they were told to still run school. Everything would be okay. Except teachers and students started dying. Eventually, they lost too many people to keep classes going. They were told from the mainland to quarantine on the island. Eventually, as people got the Tox, girls went violent. 

We learn that they are in Main. The tox started in summer, and it is now getting cold. 

I guess once you get the Tox, you get flare-ups. which cause great pain or behavioral issues. It's been since late summer that Byatt had her last flare-up. She still has a sore throat from it. Along with serrated ridges of bone down her back. Her skin over her spine split open... That just sounds painful to me. Also, what is the Tox to cause your bones to split through your skin??

From the island, they can't see anything other than water. They are pretty much cut off from the world. They had radios at one point, but they no longer work. They only really get word from land by The Navy, now I do believe. Or maybe the headmistress had a radio. I can't really remember. oops. 

Apparently, it's been 2 years since the tox. Hetty says the youngest girls were 11 when the Tox started, and they are now turning 13. That's a long time to be stuck at school waiting for the main land to find a cure so you can leave. 

They shoot animals who get in the fence or close to it. Once a fox got in and someone on shooting detail didn't have the heart to shoot it, reminding her of her own dog back home. Well, that same fox ended up tearing the youngest girl's throat out. Which is weird for a fox. Are they starving and becoming desperate. Or is the Tox doing something to them as well?

It made something jump in my chest, something I can still feel at night when Resse's braid casts a ripplin glow on the ceiling. A reaching, a wish. 

But she's too far away. She's always been far away." 

This comes from Hetty about what Resse said to a girl talking about needing boys on the island. I do believe that Hetty is in love with Resse, I mean, that's what it looks like from that. 

Girls get flare-ups at different times, kind of like allergies. There are some girls who haven't had their first flare-up. When they do, they get a gift under their pillow that night. 

They keep watch at night. One night watch sees something weird, and it scares them so much that the next day, they are shown hot to crack open a bullet and swallow gunpowder like poison just in case they need to die. I'm sorry, but what exactly was so scary out there that you'd show children how to do that? Is the Tox kind of like a zombie virus? Maybe more of a plant-like virus, like in The Last of Us, maybe.

Hetty and Byatt share a bunk to sleep. They are low on supplies, and with it being cold, they cuddle up for warmth. Hetty wakes up to find Byatt not in bed. We learn that girls are not supposed to leave their rooms at night for anything, not even to pee. I was wondering why that was. Is something going to get them? Maybe just a precaution so another girl doesn't hurt them if she has a flare-up. It's just kind of weird to me. Byatt thinks Hetty is asleep when she slips back into bed.

Ch. 3

On a walk in the morning, Hetty hints to Byatt she kind of knew she went out last night. Byatt changes the subject to saying Hetty said something in her sleep. She wouldn't want to hear again. Was it a lie, or did Hetty say something one night, and she finally says something to change the subject of her sneaking out? Why did Byatt sneak out anyway?

On their walk, Hetty and Byatt come across a Raxter Blue, a blue crab named after the color and island they're on. After watching it for a while, the crab goes to hide, but Byatt catches it and slams a rock on it, killing it. Black creeps from the tip of the legs. Byatt says she was just making sure it was a real Baxter Blue. Why would she have to make sure it was real? Are they imposter crabs? What's with the limbs turning black from the tip?

But we then find out that the girl's fingers will start turning black up to the knuckles as the Toxs finally take over. So once they are dying or dead. It's kind of odd that humans and a crab get black limbs. 

Boat Shift are the only people who can leave the fence. Reese's dad was the grounds keeper before the Tox took over. They lived in a little house on the island. One day after quarantine, Resse's dad went crazy and ran out past the fence, never to be seen again. Since then, Reese has wanted to be assigned to Boat Shift so she can look around and see if maybe he's still out there. So when a spot opens for Boat Shift. Something that hardly ever happens unless someone dies. This time, however, someone stepped down, which is weird to everyone. Also, the girl who stepped down will not say why and has slapped someone for asking. I'm thinking she might have seen something out there that scared her. Reese assumes she'll be the one who gets it. Well, when the new assignments are placed, Reese goes up and looks. Then, all of a sudden, Reese beats up Hetty before Hetty even knows what's going on. Like, I don't understand why a friend would do that. It's not like Hetty asked for it, and she honestly didn't. That is not how friends act. However, even though Hetty didn't want it, she is kind of happy about it. She's a good shot.

So that's where I left off. Today took a bit longer writing this out than I'd planned, so idk what all I'll have read tomorrow.

Johanna is 100% the filthiest, but the close runner up I honestly feel like is Peeta, and I'm not even saying that to be funny.

Peeta is a sweetheart. An angel. A froofy poofy scrumptious little kitten baby meow meow poodle boy. When he's not in public, he cusses like a fuckin' dog. Not even to be crude! I don't think he'd even realize he's cursing half the time. Like he would drop a spoon or something and just go "Fuck." And if someone scolded him or told him he cursed he would just go "Oh shit, did I?" Again, not realizing it. We all heard about his household, you can't tell me they did not curse inbetween ever other word there. His momma was chef Gordon Ramsey, change my mind. (Spoiler: you won't.)

Haymitch is third in place, which is still high but surprisingly low for him. I feel like Effie would keep him in line with at least half decent manners. Really, it kinda depends on how drunk he is. Sober Haymitch rarely cusses, drunk drunk Haymitch doesn't use any other language, really.

Finnick was fourth. RIP🕊

Gale I feel like would be like one of those people who uses swears to emphasize his point. Like he cusses regularly, but when he's passionate about something he starts kinda fluffing them on, like "That's fucking bad" instead of "That's bad." It has a somewhat 12 year old/frat boy quality to it, like Jojo Siwa. No disrespect, just an acknowledgment.

Katniss would be used to censoring herself due to Prim and just in general being quiet, but after the war when she's tired of keeping up a public image and there's no young ones nearby to hear her, she will make it quite known that she is "out of fucks to give." Honestly?? I think she's that kind of person that won't curse around a new acquaintance for the longest time and then when you finally hear her curse it is a really dramatic "FUCK!" After she cuts herself while skinning a rabbit or something, and you're just really shocked but in that supportive friend way like "Hell yeah!! Be comfortable cursing around me friend!! I will now start cursing to support you!!"

That friend is Delly at number seven.

Number eight we have got Madge. Did got Madge.🕊 RIP girlie, you would've loved 'Good Luck, Babe!' By Chappell Roan.

Prim and Mrs. Everdeen are tied for ninth. They would both have their reasons for not cursing, Mrs. Everdeen being she respects proper manners and was raised to act decent (I think that's even touched on in the books.) I can't imagine she would view cursing as appropriate by any means at all. And Prim would have the wolves clawing at her throat between her mother and Katniss if she even uttered a "Damn." However, when they're working on a dying patient I would think that goes out the windows so slightly, and they'd just start using whatever English comes out of their mouth first without a care what they or anyone else says.

And finally, at number ten, we have the ever so lady like Effie Trinket. Who keeps everyone else in line and absolutely detests foul language. However, like a Southern Baptist grandmother, she would absolutely find the most creative loopholes that would not technically count as swears, but would be said with such hatred and contempt that it would still make everyone pause as if she just screamed "CUNT!" at full volume in a crowded store.

Personally, I think whenever someone curses in the books with some light word like "stinking," that's just Suzanne (or Katniss if you subscribe to my memoir theory,) censoring the actual statement of that characters so thr editors/public wouldn't have a cow. Hijacked Peeta did not use the word 'stinking' in actuality when screaming his head off about Katniss, I'm sorry. I'm going to always believe he screamed the most vile, potential slur about her imaginable that would make everyone shit if it was revealed. But that's just a theory.

like I don't think e actually loves Bellamy and I didn't think Finn actually loved Clarke. might seem crazy to say lol but I said it. I think it was obsession, reverence, fucking worshipping them like gods devotion...but I don't think it was love.

I think in Finn's case he was just young, stupid, and traumatized. With E idk my dudes. I think she was raised to follow a king/queen and that became who she is...she's nothing without him...so she snapped.
