Something I like about Danny phantom is that we as the audience see ghostly colors but the people of that world, aside from ghosts, see something totally different, one episode had Jack Fenton greet a ghost,we the audience saw ghostly colors, Jack didn't see the glow,he just thought the guy was really pale, jack might be oblivious. I like the think of the visuals the cartoon shows us as an unreliable, that when ghosts show up and the background changes color around Danny it's to show kids that "the change in colors mean a ghost is nearby, take notice".
Tumblr media

Again,we the audience see what the cartoon shows us, the background changes color, the ghosts are colored differently than what the characters in the show are vs what we the audience sees, so technically all these ghostly animals from maternal instincts are white blueish, butch / Nickelodeon probably thought kids wouldn't get that so they went heavy handed on colors for ghosts,'see,we colored the ghosts green so you know that they are ghosts and not alive'
A lot of fanfiction has crossover fanfiction where insert character sees a green glowing animal or a green person who glows, and a glowing meta?
I'd love if a person in the media of your choice sees this

Instead of this

Don't get me wrong,I love Danny phantom crossover fanfiction, but I'd be happy if a character saw a pure white animal just thought it was a albino or something, put some more mystery into things.
Like,Danny glows softly in broad daylight and is said to be pale,it's more obvious at night.
If Danny followed the shows color coding his hair would be green instead of white, just like the ghost animals, lol
(a popular trope people like to put in their fics is Danny being more ghost colored with pointy ears and sharp claws, ghost puberty, lol)

jayce enduring a symbolic rendition of viktor's trauma is so painful and so, so clever.
Tumblr media
being stricken down and immobilized through sheer accident or, in viktor's case, a cruelly random quirk that caused his disability.
Tumblr media
then physically dragging himself from the lowest level of zaun to piltover, much like how viktor spent his youth reaching toward the promise piltover offered, but only if he could "pull himself up by the boot straps" and get there on his own. socioeconomic forces working against him be damned.
i appreciate arcane reminding us of viktor's origins - the reason he is so called to help people and, eventually, save himself - and putting jayce through the ringer - the contrast between he and viktor's lived experiences is front and center throughout season 1. the writers send jayce, and the audience, on a grueling journey to contemplate those experiences and how they've manifested in these intertwined characters.

I think immortality would make you lose your humanity. I think you'd need something to continue to connect with the feeling of being mortal.
I think if I was immortal, I'd own a bunch of cats. Not in the crazy cat lady way, although I'm sure a lot of people from the outside looking in would think that. I would have a big house on some really large land.
Some place that they could run around safely and not be scared of someone intentionally trying to run them down with a car or worse. My livingroom would have many carpets and pillows that they could lay across comfortably.
I would have a big fireplace so they could warm their full bellies. I would remember all their names and faces and mannerisms. I would gift cats and kittens to those I knew would love them as immensely as I would have had for their entire lives.
In the backyard, there would be a shallow pond with stepping stones that they could observe the fish from or bask in the sun on. There would be plenty of thicker oaks and willows that they could climb into and rest in or lounge under.
Further into the yard, there'd be a path into some woods with tall grass, and the sun could shine through the canopy in comforting warm rays. At the end of the path would be a large pet cemetery.
Each and every tombstone would have their full names and a loving message or memory I refused to forget. Something I could recall over a cup of tea that would bring me comfort and bittersweet nostalgia with their descendants sprawled out nearby.
They would each be cared for, loved immensely, and remembered for eternity. What feels like a moment of kindness for the immortal is a lifetime of love for the temporal, and I would do it a million times over and over again because a life without love would feel like death.

In Response to a Post I Saw
How to explain this- er, I saw a post that a mutual had reblogged. The OP was named 'WizardBreasts', and the reason I am not directly replying to them is that this is more for me to verbalize my own thoughts rather than start a reply chain/argument. Er- if anyone actually sees this, please don't harass the OP.
To get my own plausible biases out of the way: I am a trans nonbinary psychology student, specializing in Cognitive Psychology (studying the way we think) and my passion has always been improving the way the general public thinks about science, psychology, and research
I will briefly sum up the post:
They are the type of person to disagree when someone says 'your brain stops developing at 25' because your brain never stops developing and changing
they think love languages are useful, but they are not real
they disagree with the core concept of trying to fit an entire personality into something compartmentalized: referencing Harry Potter Houses in the particular
Many of the commonly demonized personality disorders are responses to pain
Think about why someone would tell you that you can only make decisions at 25
Psych has been used to oppress people as it was intended to in its conception, don't 'buy into it'
I have a few thoughts about this:
I truly believe this person means well, and I agree with most of what they are saying, to a degree. Most of their qualms stem from people misusing and misunderstanding concepts of psychology and weaponizing them against others. Which is more than valid.
We should question the implications and motives behind everything! It's good practice to make sure we're not ignoring data/evidence and that we're not only seeing one side of an argument!
Psychology has been weaponized against people. I do not think we should blindly accept every conclusion psychologists make (there are so many examples of why that's a horrible idea-). However, if the intention of the OP was to imply that we should dismiss psychology, this would be immensely harmful to our understandings of ourselves and potentially lead to bigger problems for everyone. I believe psychology is the methodical study of a very subjective human experience; it is not perfect by any means. It leaves out a lot of people who aren't the 'norm'. Therefore, we must improve the scope of understanding and make the field more diverse and compassionate. We must also remain careful and critical as it is a powerful tool that can both damage and help.
The points about the 'developing brain' and 'love languages' and 'don't reduce people to neat boxes' are very good, actually. I think a lot of them stem from this desire to not simplify the human experience, which is one of the hardest things we as a greater species must contend with.
I will note my personal take of these topics:
the 25 thing: this is actually a very much contested piece of info in neuroscience and is honestly really misinterpreted. It all depends on how each person defines 'maturity' as specific skills improve at different ages! What this 'fun fact' references is that the development and growth of the frontal lobe sorta peaks out around 25, which is not to say changing stops. Some researchers put the age at 18, and others say closer to 21-25+. My two cents is that, yes, your brain will constantly be changing due to something amazing called 'Plasticity' which basically means your brain will continue making connections and changes to help you function. There are also distinctive changes based on your age and your brain's ability to regulate itself and function, but each stage can be different for each person. So yes, the 25 thing is, at best, a wildly misused and heavily misconstrued measurement of your brain's overall growth, and at worst, a myth weaponized against people.
The love languages: one of my biggest struggles is explaining the usage of language in general. When it comes to very intimate and individual experiences, language is a tool with which we express very complex and personal aspects of ourselves in a way others can attempt to understand. The hard part is that, with labels, many people tend to just group people and dismiss everything else. Which is what I think the OP was originally disagreeing with. I agree with them on this one, love languages can be useful; but to treat them as a be-all-end-all understanding is foolish and reductionist
The Harry Potter Houses Thing: yeah, same as Love Languages, but with tonnes of extra baggage (lookin at you, rowling). In general, I think things like Houses, Factions, Districts (shoutout if you caught those references ig-) can be a fun easy way to short hand personality. However, they fall into a similar trap as love languages in that they can be heavily reductionist and blind people to the fact we are more similar than we are different. IMO, it's sort of a way for people to distinguish themselves, but also find community. But as with every label; it can get out of hand and hurt people.
Demonized Personality Disorders: the ever growing struggle of trying to balance our understandings of disorders, academia, and the general public. I would say this is a huge aspect of why demystifying and being truly transparent about science is such a deep passion of mine. I agree with the OP that Personality Disorders are heavily stigmatized and demonized. Humans fear what we do not understand; and we do not understand a lot of things. We all need to work on being more empathetic and compassionate while balancing it with taking care of ourselves and our own wellbeing. It is a balance that goes both ways with heavy consequences.
Question Everything: No human is without motives, and some motives are more helpful than others. My motive here is to explain why the OP caused me to pause and reflect on my field of study as well as open a monologue so I don't stew in frustration. When it comes to psychology and science as a greater whole: it is impossible to separate human error, desires, and expectations. SO, it is built into the scientific research system that we question every finding and work to find evidence which either supports or detracts from the conclusion at hand. In a way, we are always questioning everything and looking at what evidence we receive and working to improve what we know. I think it's a process everyone should try at least a few times!
Psychology as a Tool of Oppression: Yeah. There's no debate, psychology was used to harm people. So is biology, chemistry, basically every field of learning has been used at one point or another to harm and oppress people. This ties to the idea of questioning motives though, and I think it would be reductive and foolish to try and dismiss everything on an all-or-nothing basis! I am not saying OP is 100% doing this, just that this is what causes my hesitation at the phrase 'don't buy into it'. I think we must be cautious with how we receive information. Nothing is flawless; so we must always work to improve it! Yes, don't 'buy into' everything you read wholesale, but you shouldn't throw away a tool used to understand the complex human experience.

The movie Wicked is proof that any source material can be vastly improved by simply making the intense female friendship much gayer + the mutual male love interest both wildly bisexual and lowkey down to just be their third

we need to stop equating lack of independence with lack of maturity. people that live with their parents or have a caregiver or don't work or need more support than others aren't inherently immature. there's lots of reasons why people would be in this situation, even outside of disability (plenty of cultures out there expect people to live with their parents past what we consider the beginning of adulthood), and regardless of the reason we deserve support and community through what is already likely to be an isolating experience. don't make it worse for us

if you’re ever in the position to choose between giving up and accepting defeat, and actually trying to fight the ancient unkillable god that is about to peel apart reality like a string cheese, remember this: scientifically speaking, you might as well give it a shot!
1.there were trees at the beginning of the world! there were trees so long ago that they predate bacteria that causes wood to decay. when a tree fell, it would lie there in stasis and there wasn’t any way of breaking down wood xylem on a molecular level in that way.
2. it seems obvious to say, but wood eating bacteria are literally incapable of comprehending what they’re breaking down. It’s just not information conciously available to a microorganism. they don’t know what they’re deconstructing, where it came from, bacteria have no way to even fathom the existence of a tree as a concept.
3. Regardless of the facts above, the world we live in today is a world where wood inevitably decomposes
it is worth fighting the unkillable god no matter how pointless it seems. it is worth taking the risk even though youre trying to accomplish something impossible. the reality in which you live was also once reality in which trees didn’t rot. You live in a reality that allows for existence before the possibility of destruction. you live in a reality where uncomprehending microbes break down matter that is so far beyond the scope of their comprehension that it feels comical to specify something so obvious. you live in a reality that occasionally allows unshakeable physical truths to be altered with no warning.
It is worth fighting the unkillable god because trees are so old they predate the source of their destruction, and it still did not spare them. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because bacteria rots unthinkingly, because there is room in our cosmos for destruction without comprehension on the part of the destroyer. It is worth fighting the unkillable god because now and then reality retracts the promise of immortality without fanfare, and when that happens there is no mercy for the ancient. the unmaking is not softer for the desecrators ignorance. for all things, existence is endless until the exact point where it ends.
so you might as well try to kill the unkillable god. it doesn’t seem likely, but at the beginning of the world, trees didn’t rot. so you never know! you never know

you're going about your normal day when, suddenly, surprise! you've been pokémon mystery dungeon'd!
unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!
tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.
bonus rules:
you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny
take your pick of regional forms and evolutions (for example, if you roll vulpix, it's up to you whether that means normal or alolan vulpix)
apply whatever logic you like with regards to gender
have fun and be yourself!
