Every time his team is in Kansas City, Curtis Granderson arranges a trip for anyone who’s interested to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Here’s a shot of the Blue Jays’ contingent from yesterday, with a statue of Satchel Paige.
I think it’s awesome to see how many guys were interested in the history of their game, and how it related to racial inequality in the US.
Also: Devo standing behind everyone and having to peer over their shoulders is priceless.

Jays Beat Up On Twins Bullpen Again.
Blue Jays 6 Twins 5 W-Sanchez (2-1) L-May (1-1) SV-Giles (5)
We all knew that the Minnesota Twins would be able to score runs this season. The question lied within the pitching staff of the Twins and now they have been tested two straight nights. The Blue Jays squared off with the Twins and beat up on their bullpen again. Aaron Sanchez and Kyle Gibson tossed up zeroes for the first two frames. The Twins would strike first in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Jorge Polanco smacked an Aaron Sanchez fastball out to deep right field. The ball stayed fair for a solo home run and the Twins led 1-0 after three frames. Meanwhile, pitching continued to dominate until the sixth inning. Danny Jansen led-off with a single to left. Eric Sogard doubled to right and Randal Grichuk walked with one out to load up the bases. The next batter, Justin Smoak singled home a pair and the Jays took a 2-1 lead. Ryne Harper came on and retired Teoscar Hernandez. This brought up Rowdy Tellez and Alen Hanson, who both hit RBI singles to cap off a four-run sixth. Toronto now had a 4-1 lead, but Minnesota would answer in the bottom of the inning. Max Kepler and Jorge Polanco started the sixth with walks. The next batter, Eddie Rosario drilled an Aaron Sanchez fastball out to right-center for a three-run homer. This tied the game at four, but the Jays would respond in the seventh. Eric Sogard started a rally against the Twins bullpen with a one-out single. Randal Grichuk and Justin Smoak walked to load up the bases. Trevor Hildenberger entered the game and Teoscar Hernandez drove in a pair with a single to left-center. The Jays now had a 6-4 lead and their bullpen did the rest. Daniel Hudson and Thomas Pannone combined for a clean seventh and Joe Biagini tossed a 1-2-3 eighth. Ken Giles came on for the ninth and struggled a bit. Marwin Gonzalez led-off and smoked a Ken Giles fastball out to right-center for a solo blast. This pulled the Twins within a run. Nelson Cruz continued the rally with a walk, but Ken Giles retired the next two batters. This brought up Byron Buxton, who smacked a double to the left field corner. Teoscar Hernandez threw to cut-off man Freddy Galvis, who threw out CJ Cron, who pinch-hit and reached on a fielder’s choice. This ended the game and the Jays stole one late from the Twins again.
-Final Thoughts- Kyle Gibson had a great start until the sixth inning. He lasted 5 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Ryne Harper got out of the sixth, Trevor May got two outs and allowed two runs, and Trevor Hildenberger got out of the seventh. Tyler Duffey tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Marwin Gonzalez led the team with two hits on the night. The Twins hit 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. The team recalled Tyler Duffey before the game and sent Andrew Vasquez back to Rochester. Tomorrow, Trent Thornton will face Jake Odorizzi in Game 3.

Would you eat indoors at a restaurant? We asked five health experts
Open to eat indoors – however will you? David Mbiyu/SOPA Photos/LightRocket through Getty Photos
Earlier this fall, lots of the nation’s eating places opened their doorways to patrons to eat inside, particularly because the climate turned chilly in locations. Now, as COVID-19 circumstances surge throughout the nation, some cities and cities have banned indoor eating whereas others have permitted it with restrictions. Nonetheless different geographies don’t have any bans in any respect.
The restaurant and hospitality business has reacted strongly, submitting lawsuits difficult indoor eating bans and, in New York state, pointing to knowledge that confirmed eating places and bars accounted for only one.4% of circumstances there – far decrease in contrast with personal gatherings.
We requested 5 well being professionals if they’d dine indoors at a restaurant. 4 mentioned no – and one had a shocking reply.

Not an choice
Dr. Laurie Archbald-Pannone, Affiliate Professor of Medication, College of Virgina
No. March 12, 2020 was the final day I ate indoors at a restaurant. On the time, there was delicate apprehension – however a lot modified that week. The COVID-19 pandemic altered many features of “normalcy,” and for me consuming inside at a restaurant is a type of actions. I liked consuming out and sometimes would eat out thrice every week (typically extra!). However understanding how the COVID-19 an infection is transmitted, I really feel that being inside with no masks on – even simply to eat – just isn’t an choice for me. I strongly imagine that we have to help our group by these difficult instances, so we nonetheless get curbside pickup or supply from our favourite native eating places at the very least thrice every week – typically extra! – however it is going to be some time earlier than I’m again inside. Once I do return I’m positively getting dessert.
Nice threat
Dr. Thomas A. Russo, Chief of Infectious Illness Division, Jacobs Faculty of Medication and Biomedical Sciences, College at Buffalo
No. And it’s been “no” proper from the start.
We’ve got slightly extra info now, however what I mentioned within the spring hasn’t actually modified. The best threat of getting contaminated with SARS-CoV-2 is being indoors with individuals who aren’t utilizing masks always. The priority isn’t simply massive respiratory droplets when near somebody speaking; it’s additionally the tiny aerosols that linger within the air.
Making it even riskier is the widely poor air flow in lots of eating places. The important thing variations between indoor eating and purchasing in a giant field retailer or grocery retailer are: 1) massive shops have extra air flow and higher air house; 2) everybody can put on a masks always; 3) you’re not fastened in house, so if you happen to see somebody who simply has a bandanna or their masks drops down under their nostril, you possibly can keep away from them; and 4) it ought to take much less time than dinner out. At a restaurant, you’re caught at that desk. If a celebration close to you is having an animated dialog, they might be producing a number of respiratory secretions.
Some attention-grabbing research have seemed on the airflow and air currents in eating places in relation to the place folks grew to become contaminated. In a single, an individual was 20 ft away from the supply for under about 5 minutes, however the particular person was straight within the airflow and have become contaminated. It’s a reminder of what we’ve been saying – there’s nothing magical about 6 ft. The excessive diploma of group illness within the U.S. proper now will increase the chance that one other diner within the restaurant is contaminated. In case you are bored with cooking and wish a break, takeout is the best way to go.
Cautious combined with belief
Sue Mattison, Provost and Professor within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Well being Sciences, Drake College
Sure. As an epidemiologist, my response could seem shocking or hypocritical: I do eat at native eating places, however solely as a result of in April, like greater than 17 million Individuals since that point, I examined constructive for COVID-19 and recovered. In response to the most recent proof, I imagine I’ve immunity for now, and maybe longer. However I’m not pushing my luck.
I’ve my very own checklist of 4 eating places the place I eat. I belief these eating places as a result of every has drastically diminished their variety of tables and spaced them at the very least 6 ft aside, and everybody inside is diligent about carrying a masks. My husband and I additionally order takeout lots. It is very important reiterate, nonetheless, that proof reveals eating places are a major supply of an infection, and those that haven’t recovered from COVID-19 ought to chorus from consuming at eating places till the group will get a greater deal with on the unfold of an infection.
Quick-term sacrifices
Dr. Ryan Huerto, Household Medication Doctor, Well being Providers Researcher and Medical Lecturer, College of Michigan
No. Whereas I perceive many components contribute to indoor eating, such because the psychological well being toll of social isolation, the chance to help small companies and chilly climate, I strongly suggest towards indoor eating.
The chance of contracting COVID-19 from indoor actions is much higher than from bodily distanced outside actions. The latest spike in COVID-19 infections, deaths and ICU mattress shortages is probably going linked to indoor gatherings throughout Thanksgiving.
On Dec. 22, 201,674 infections and three,239 deaths on account of COVID-19 had been reported. This loss of life toll is equal to roughly 20 Boeing 737 aircrafts crashing in a single day.
Even with a COVID-19 vaccine authorised, staying house, bodily distancing, carrying a masks and good hand hygiene are as vital as ever. Consider these as short-term sacrifices to assist shield your folks, household, neighbors and important staff.
As an alternative of eating in, please contemplate exponentially safer options equivalent to ordering supply or curbside pickup.
Eating places pose massive threat
Kathleen C. Brown, Affiliate Professor of Observe and MPH Program Director, Faculty of Schooling, Well being, and Human Sciences, College of Tennessee
No. The Facilities for Illness Management and Prevention reported that sufferers testing constructive had been twice as more likely to have eaten in a restaurant than these testing detrimental within the 14 days previous their check. I often get takeout however don’t eat in eating places.
What I can not management poses a threat. I’ve very open and sincere conversations with household and buddies about the place we now have been and who we now have been with. From there, our threat is fairly clear however nonetheless not at zero. The extra folks I come into contact with, the higher the danger.
In a restaurant, I’m not capable of assess the danger posed by different patrons or the employees. Every particular person in that restaurant has a community of others that, taken collectively, will increase my threat of contracting COVID-19. At the moment, Tennessee, the place I stay, is the second-leading state for circumstances per 100,000, which implies group unfold is excessive.
In plain language, meaning there’s an elevated chance that I could come into contact with somebody who’s infectious – symptomatic or not – if I eat inside a restaurant. I’ll proceed to choose up my takeout for now.

Rosario Homers As Twins Beat Jays!
Blue Jays 1 Twins 2 W-Odorizzi (1-0) L-Pannone (0-1) SV-Jorge (2)
The Toronto Blue Jays made the trek down to Fort Myers from Dunedin this afternoon for a battle with the Minnesota Twins. Pitching dominated the day as runs were at a premium today. The Twins got an early strike from Eddie Rosario. He led-off the second inning and crushed a Thomas Pannone pitch out to right for a solo home run. This put Minnesota up 1-0 and they were at it again in the third. Willians Astudillo walked to start the frame then he went to second on a passed ball. Brian Dozier hit a grounder that advanced him to third base and Joe Mauer hit an RBI groundout to put the Twins up 2-0 after three innings of action. Meanwhile, Jake Odorizzi pitched a solid game in his debut with the Twins. He threw 2 2/3 innings and struck out three. The bullpen did the rest for the Twins today. Taylor Rogers, Trevor Hildenberger, and Gabriel Moya bridged the game to the eighth inning. Jake Reed hurled a clean eighth, but Felix Jorge had some trouble in the ninth. Kevin Vicuna hit an one-out double for the Jays and they had some life. Max Pentecost hit an RBI double to center and Toronto was on the board. Jorge settled down and retired the last two hitters to close out the game and give the Twins the win.
-Final Thoughts- Jake Odorizzi was very good in his Twins debut. He struck out three over 2 2/3 innings and did not allow a baserunner. Taylor Rogers struck out three of the five men he faced in 1 1/3 innings, Trevor Hildenberger had a hitless fifth, and Gabriel Moya had two scoreless innings. Jake Reed struck out one in the eighth and Felix Jorge gave up a run in the ninth, but still got the save. The Twins scattered five hits today and hit 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. They left two men on base. Logan Morrison went 1-for-3 in his Twins debut as well. He struck out in his first at-bat, tripled in his second at-bat, and popped out to first in his last AB. Tomorrow, the Twins return the favor and head up to Dunedin to play the Jays. Phil Hughes faces Aaron Sanchez in a Saturday matinee.
