I'm so mad that post was misinformation because there is actually an EXTREMELY important conversation to have about the production schedules artists are forced into. There's no need for exaggeration, the conditions are bad.

I work for webtoon. My publication schedule is weekly. While publishing I'm required 10-15 pages a week. Fully colored.

This means I'm finishing a 150 page fully colored graphic novel every 10-15 weeks.

When my comic is not updating, I am not getting paid. Any time writing, editing, or off is out of my own pocket. I don't get healthcare. They do not provide any assistants. They expect me to promote myself; they chose to deprioritize me before I even launched and gave me an end date half a year in. I never had a chance.

And this is the industry standard! Every company has artists forced into crunch hours, overtime, and burnout. Artists are literally dying early due to it. So many of my friends can't afford to go to the doctor.

It's unsustainable and untenable, and it's also the expectation our audiences have.

If we want to have this conversation, there's plenty of conversation to be had with the realities of the situation. It's bad as is.

Not to be the first soldier on the frontless of the woobification of Qimir (he is a villain, we know this, and I love him for it), but the lack of nuance, or rather the one-dimensional angle people who don't like his relationship with Osha have taken with him, irks me so bad. I get it. He is Sith, right. Treachery is their way; and what are the darksiders, if not self-serving?

But I feel like the specific phrasing of "the Jedi like you would call me Sith" implies so much about his own unique characterization, and I don't understand why we are glossing over it. It's not a self-identifier. It shows it isn't as much as a title he'd give himself, but a badge he'll wear since in the black/white viewpoint of the Jedi, he is not allowed to be anything more or less. His almost catty, "semantics" hammers in this fact for me, personally.

He strikes me as one who takes what he wants of the Sith code, and disregards the rest. I don't think it's a mistake that even after his reveal, we don't see him with the signature dark side eyes.

I say all this to say; Qimir's ultimate goal is not power, it is FREEDOM. *That* is what he is driven by. He craves to live outside the confines he deems as constrictive/oppressive, and have by his side, someone who wants the same.

So even while disregarding Leslye's interview; I honestly don't know how with what we've been shown in the show so far, aside from him being a sith, makes people think otherwise.

Someone like. posted vaguely about a chilchuck self-aware au and its so. interesting to me! dungeon meshi is such an odd thing to make a self aware au of in the first place. things like genshin makes sense because so much of its vase media is surrounded by interacting with the consumer, while in dungeon meshi its almost the opposite?

Dungeon Meshi's story at its core is so wrapped in its own world, that the viewer is truly nothing but a viewer. honestly because how much the world affects its characters them realizing it's fictional is such a personal horror for any of them. the otherness, the loneliness, the struggle and for what? base self aware media horror stuff ya know.

not that that in itself wouldn't be interesting especially with the dungeon meshi cast in particular (falin and marcille specifically... mithrun) but I think it's especially interesting for chilchuck because at least a lot of the other characters exist in reaction to their world, very little of their tragedy comes from within themselves (I mean it does technically, but you know what I mean).

A big part of Chilchuck's personal tragedies is self error. he didn't see the threads ripping he doesn't know why his marriage fell apart. with characters like Marcille, Liaos or Falin it's the things that happen to them or around them that hurt but with Chilchuck it's like, that's all him, and I think it would be crushing to find out he was just never meant to know.

I'd like to say this concept was originally proposed in an x reader sense and I think it's also interesting there because, we could see his pursuit of them as an act of agency. Chilchuck can't know if him and his wife would still be together without the hand of the author the confines of his story won't let him. But, the reader exists outside of those confines so maybe a relationship with them could be too.
