I think the little (funny) detail that people tend to miss is after killing Bazz B (and the regret increasing tenfold mixed with grief and sorrow), Haschwalth starts to have his screws loose one by one. He's smiling and smirking and grinning and throwing fits more frequently for someone who's supposed to be stoic and levelheaded (mind you, he's acting against everything about balance, his fucking shrift) primarily to his poor target of projection, which is none other than Uryu (why suffer in this hell alone when you could drag someone to join you in this eternal misery of choosing your god over your best friend, or, well, just murder them once they refused to be your comrade in misery)
