I found out about a Pillowfort-specific blog post format called blanket boxes, and now, I'm doing a blanket box for the first time!  Hooray!  This is the Visual Novel Blanket Box by babycarrot! Figured I'd also share it on Tumblr too, some of y'all might appreciate this.

1. What genre of visual novel do you usually play?

Romance/Otome games are the ones I play most often, I find.

2. What was your first (or one of your first) visual novel(s)?

I don't think it was the first, but it was definitely one of the first: Hierofanía @sillyraccoonknight .  I loved this game SO MUCH when I was a young teenager; I even took the time to chart out every single possible branching path on a piece of paper, marking all of the different routes and endings.  I played the game repeatedly in order to complete this; I didn't use a walkthrough or anything, as I recall.

3. What was the last visual novel you played?

AFTERLIFE by Chris Logsdon.  Go play it, it's very short and very good.

4. Has a visual novel had a lasting impact on you?

The first VN in the Code:Realize series got me into otome games, which was impactful for me.  Heirofania was VERY impactful to me, as it was one of the games that made me want to make visual novels, and led me on my game development path.

5. Gush about your favorite visual novel! NOW!!

Blooming Panic is so good omggggg.  It's rare for me to like all of the love interests, but that's definitely the case here.  I haven't played the Full Bloom Edition yet so idk about xyx, but I'm sure he's wonderful. <3

6. If you could give a visual novel character a kiss/hug, who would it be and why?

I'd give Takeru Sasazuka from Collar X Malice a big big hug, that's my husbando and I love him.

7. How would your favorite character react if they suddenly turned into a worm?

If Takeru turned into a worm he would be PISSED.  He prides himself on his hacking abilities, and how can you type on a keyboard to hack if you're a worm?!  On the bright side, he loves sweets, especially donuts, and you can get a lot more out of a donut when you're teeny-tiny.

8. Is there a character that you reaaaallly relate to?

I really like Grayson from Lost And Found--he has special interests, he's trying to be successful in a creative field, he has homophobic parents who he wants to like him despite them not liking his identity. . . He's just like me for real lmao.

9. A character that you dislike?

No one came to mind!  Maybe the villain of Collar X Malice?  Talking about that would be spoilery though, so I won't.

10. Do you have a VN you’ve been meaning to play, but just haven’t?

So many lmao.  I literally have a whole collection on itch.io that's mostly VNs I either haven't played yet, or have only played the demos/old builds of, not the final versions.

11. Have you made any fan content for a VN?

Yeah, I helped make a Blooming Panic fangame, Coffee With Quest!  I also have written multiple fanfics for many visual novels.

Tales of Vesperia Blurays

hello to anyone who’s scrolling the vesperia tag! I have finally gone around to digitizing other vesperia materials I possess that aren’t.. really anywhere online. (i may have put this off for at least as early as when I scanned light novel stuff)

anyway. the drive folder im providing includes: the vesperia stage play!!, the 10th anniversary party!!, tales of homeroom: tov edition!!, first strike 2019 bluray version!!

just keep in mind the following: you’ll have to download the things to watch them. you’ll most likely need to watch them through VLC media too. and they’re all unsubbed because translation is really not my forte

if you’re seeing this post and havent in any form completed/seen the game then do beware spoilers being in there, proceed with your own discretion. other than that, have fun! if anyone wants to translate these (they are all RAWs after all) please feel free to :)

that all aside. here’s the Contents (details) :

-Tales of The Stage: Justice of Light and Shadow (2019). Includes disc 1 (the play itself), and disc 2 (bonus content included in the bluray itself. stuff with the actual stage actors and whatnot)

I have so many thoughts on the stage play and i consider it a worthwhile experience! its like a little treat (though the speedrun being done here to get as much main story content covered within 2.5 hours is a sight to behold LMAO) (and even then, the stage play diverts from the main story to a good degree :3c)

-Tales of Vesperia 10th Anniversary Party (2018), also known as the celebratory party that was done live with all the voice actors leading the show! it’s overall very sweet and charming. this includes 2 discs, each containing a recording of 2 different days when the party took place, if that makes sense. any other videos in the folder is the bonus segments included in the bluray too, in a similar fashion to the stage play

-Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~ 10th Anniversary Edition (2019), and Yes, we do have the movie available online, but i figured i could provide the bluray version that you would get if you got the definitive edition of the game in Japan. could make use for some HD screenshots perhaps.

the plus to the new bluray: it INCLUDES a 30 minute skit present on the disc as a bonus. im also providing the menu animation for the bluray since I somehow could rip that too and it looks pretty neat (:

-Tales of Homeroom, the two tales of vesperia episodes that you could only get through, again, the first strike bluray (2019). If you’ve seen some of the tales of HR videos uploaded on youtube, then you’ll know what this is about. if not, no fret! it’s just 2 tiny episodes centered around the vesperia cast on a vacation :)

I dyed my hair today? Something I've been wanting to do again for so long. 2, I've been writing a lot, and enjoying it. 3... I guess I've been having fun interacting with my online friends. I don't have much going on in my life, honestly LOL 📚 ⇢ Not really a notes app, just a note in my google doc for a WIP. It's really long, to summarize, It's the ATLA HiruSena prompt. 🍬 ⇢ I don't really have any? Like, I don't watch many REALLY popular shows, and the ones I do, I don't have strong opinions on anyone, really. But when I do, they're not 'unpopular.' 🔪 ⇢ ... I'd skip this but then you all might think it's worse than it actually is. I was researching what non-ace/aro people consider a normal pace for a relationship LMAO (my single AF ass wouldn't, and will not know) ��� ⇢ If you get stumped while writing, just brainstorm the weirdest fucking shit you can think of. Sooner or later you'll find where you want to go, or what you want to add. The starting off really weird tends to lead to running out of 'weird' and finally coming up with 'somewhat sane' ideas. ❄️ ⇢ I have so many fic/plot ideas, I can't pick one. But, If I had to pick an author outside myself who would know the perfect way to do it, it would be @nonbayanary 🌿 ⇢ One is to just write, like, anything and if it comes out bad, you can always try again, or use it as a base to edit until you get it where you like it. Another is to brainstorm a few basic plot points to hit on as you write, and sort of fill out the in-between parts.

What I typically do is just go one sentence at a time, slowly building up the scene until I get a hit of inspiration on where I want it to go, and then come back and edit the build up, if it took too long and got ramble-y

One thing you can do, if you want to procrastinate while also getting some inspiration, is to build a playlist of music that you think fits your story. That way you can listen to it as you write. It sometimes helps in the long run. 🥐 ⇢ Not really an internet reference, but something my sister and I reference a lot, that makes me laugh.

Lucifer

Lucifer owns a private detective agency (Edit: It’s got a name now! Morningstar Detective Agency, courtesy of the lovely @impastaz309), and all the brothers are in one way or another involved in it

The agency works with the police in the more secretive cases, usually ‘important’ people going missing under mysterious circumstances, drug trafficking etc.

Though he’s the head, a lot of the time he’s handling paperwork which helps cover the brothers and his back, especially since some of the stuff they do, and links they have with other people and organisations, could be exploited at their expense.

He’s looking at satan btw lmao

Running a detective agency and also keeping tabs on his brothers is very hard ™ so Lucifer is just, tired, all the time. Please give him a shoulder rub and smooches

Mammon

Usually used as bait, believe it or not, therefore his existence is somewhat of a mystery. He has to keep a low profile.

If you asked someone in the street, unless they were really involved in the agency (which they wouldn’t be), has a high ranking in the police (unlikely), or any of the other organisations the agency associates with (probably not) they wouldn’t know he exists

Mammon is very good at his job, organising meetings with middlemen, smooth talking his way out of situations, getting even the criminals themselves to come and meet him without a mediator

He is only ever used when they agency or police know with absolute certainty that the person they’ll be catching will be arrested without fail - which is of course impossible to know, so it’s always a gamble when they pull Mammon out of the deck

Good luck dating him because this guy can’t really go in public for too long at a time

Leviathan 

He works at a newspaper agency, or at least that’s what they want you to think

In reality the whole reporter business is a front, and Leviathan is an information broker. Or rather, the head of a small group of information brokers.

The city is big, and one person alone isn’t enough to cover everything, but man is his group efficient

Every address change, every telephone call made, every booking of hotel rooms, all of it, he keeps tabs on it all

The information he’s gathered has helped the private detective agency out in a pinch many times, and will continue to do so in the future

“I’m very very busy, so please don’t call me during work, sweetheart. Especially not this particular number, that’s only for emergencies, and even then, it better be life or death, okay? Okay.”

Satan

Works in a bar. Specifically, a bar in a kinda sorta illegal underground fight club. It’s very illegal don’t let anyone fool you

A lot of the more questionable people of the city frequent this bar, and let me tell you, some people cannot keep their mouth shut once they’ve had a few drinks.

Anything Leviathan or Asmodeus can’t catch (don’t worry I’m getting there), is usually picked up by Satan via a blabbermouth who had too much to drink that night.

Satan is also pretty chummy with a lot of the fighters, and has a tendency to be the one patching up the milder injuries after fights

Therefore, he has a lot of favours he can collect, so if Lucifer ever needs some muscle that goes beyond what Beel can provide, Satan in there recommending a few of the more... smarter(?) fighters at the club.

Please don’t scratch his bar, he is a very forgiving bartender, but ruining the mahogany imported from England will have him beating the shit out of you 

Asmodeus

A bit of a celebrity, his rise to fame being both accidental and very useful

Think barbershop quartet, but he does a lot of solo work as well. The other three guys in the barbershop quartet are an absolute blast, and Asmodeus loves them to bits.

Originally, Lucifer was furious. How does he expect to work in the agency if he’s off singing at clubs and attending fancy parties? Then he realised something: Asmodeus can keep tabs on any of the more sketchy celebrities who slip through the net

So off into stardom Asmodeus went, attending lavish parties and singing at packed theatres, collecting dirt, formulating blackmail, getting only the best gossip and pulling favours along the way.

“Jen, hon, did you hear about Carter? Apparently, he’s sleeping with the daughter of the Chief of Police.” 

“Wait a minute... Asmo, isn’t she married?”

“She is most definitely married.” 

“Oh my.”

Beelzebub

Usually seen working with Belphegor, partially because, well, that’s his twin brother and he likes his brother, so why not?

And also because Belphegor always needs backup

Though he isn’t always with Belphegor, really, he’s just sent whenever Lucifer is wary of sending anyone in the agency somewhere on their own.

Think of Beel as a bodyguard of sorts. He is always there to stop things form getting physical if needs be, but he isn’t always enough on his own despite being an absolute powerhouse. So sometimes he’ll go around with someone Satan recommended too

They’re really nice actually, Beel was super surprised, you’d think they’d have no manners? (That’s because Satan gives you the nice ones Beel, thank him once in a while) 

They also all think he’s a marvel of muscle send from the gods so ya know. And they all get him cakes from that bakery he loves, so they’re all good in Beel’s book

Belphegor

You know the whole good cop bad cop routine? Yeah, Belphie is both depending on who you need for that current situation. 

Masterful in the art of manipulation, Lucifer uses him on the more tough to crack people who sit in the interrogation room

He is actually pretty good at shoving the fragmented pieces of a case together, weaving a story that gets the person being interrogated sweating bullets

Even when he is way off, he still manages to worm information out of the subject a lot faster than anyone at the police station. Point, private detective agency.

Like I said, he can be the good cop or the bad cop, though because he isn’t all that intimidating, he’s usually asked to be good cop

But dear lord he is a scary bad cop, and everyone in the police force and their mother knows it

Deathloop thoughts (spoilers)

Can’t find the post,  but when I watched the trailers I was reminded of someone saying how if explored deeply Dishonored 2 Paolo’s immortality would either be played farcical or grimdark.

I managed to dodge all spoilers except the big one about Julianna (damn it reddit)

Crying that even on very low the game wants more vram than my 980m graphics card has

One reason I kept notes was because of the way the game requires a time commitment, if you want to progress the story you either finish an area or the time is wasted. My computer couldn’t handle leaving the game on pause and walking away for more than a short time. I would have finished the game in a shorter period of time if it let me quick save whenever, instead of only playing when I was sure I would have no interruptions. I no longer have the time to sit down and play a game through in one weekend like Dishonered 2, so if there’s a sequel then I’ll wait for it to go on a deep discount.

 I didn’t want to engage with the roguelike mechanics, if I was playing carelessly I would alt+F4 out rather than lose all my progress. This is one of the games where I know I would just have a bad time on console due to being unskilled with a controller, so I’m glad I waited until most PC bugs were resolved.

Story stuff and spoilers below:

I clicked on a phishing message out of the general gaming sense to click every message, and then a deathsquad immediately got sent to me. Took a moment to laugh at myself what good game design there

I realized 2 hours in im having much better luck just fighting things out than trying to use nail gun at long range

Went to frank’s area and just ran away after sticking my hand in the thing that shuts off your powers. I just want to get used to the gunplay and level my gear not risk what I had

Got the Sepulchra sniper rifle without really trying for it, I like that I can throw grenades through windows from across the street

Really Frank is the one I’m getting the most info on, with his personal ramblings on the radio, his hand trap thing,  and he was the one to give Colt the nice apartment? (later edit: hilarious how I just fought him in person once)

Lol is Egor isvisible sniping people? Lmao thats how to do it, i can hear the high calibre rounds. INTERACTING WITH THE SECURITY MEASURES ALERTS HIM!!! This level was designed as a fuck you to steatlh games (complementary). Like i hacked a bunch of turrets, got invaded by a Julliana, she died instantly, then now Egor knows im here. Sniper fight i won, what fun!!! As he begs me to leave

Egar got Colt out of an asylum? They have some sort of history? Guessing: before this even happened Colt was getting visions of the loop future or just war trauma

FUCK Fia blew up the island, all my nice things lost

I’m really judging Harriet more for being a cult leader than others, takedown was easy with invis through the lasers and nexus linking enemies

Unless the game does a sudden twist, I think its going to be tragic slowly getting to know these people but then being forced to kill them 

2Bit seems to be a brain in a jar AI, the interactions at first between him and Colt were a bit bugged for me. Actually killing Charlie was easy, just look through a window in his panic room and hack his turrets

Its kinda creepy/pathetic the way Charlie has all these spliced tapes edited to sound like people like him

There are so many enemies in Alexis’ mansion, it was a pain to clear them all out to investigate everything. Basically make a snipers perch, run low on ammo and health so leave to get more then rinse and repeat several times

Julianna yelling about how Colt is a broken man who just repeats the same thing over and over again. Even though Julianna doesn’t want to break the loop how long could someone go with people just reacting the same before it gets to her

Interesting Frank doesn’t have a slab just a poorly optimized gun. Also his statement about not wanting to believe Julianna really does point to a history with Colt

The only good Rapier model is the explosive bullet one with speedloader mod

Got a Sepulchra Breteira sniper that does more damage the longer you hold down the trigger, honestly it can 1 tap with chest shots across the map, making rapier really redundant unless you need to explode something

Yeah the mod for invisibility that lets you remain invisible while shooting makes sniping so much easier

Doing the generators and the mines really are the most dangerous enemy in the game

Colt yelling “are you fucking kidding me” as i repeatedly fail the pressure plate challenges is very relatable. Yeah I’m not gonna bother trying to beat those puzzles in the timelimit. 

DAMN 2Bit can hold a grudge it just broadcasted i was in the Moxie to everyone

So Colt doesn’t remark at all that he was on the rocket from these previous military experiments

At this point I have so many good guns I’m looked up the other top tier guns and none of them fit my playstyle, so I’m skipping the other weapon quests

I have 0 interest in grinding out guns or trinkets with unique perks, if I want to chase loot I can go play Destiny 2

Ah NOW Colt figures out Julianna is his daughter, but documents are saying that her mother never told Colt of the pregnancy so its a rough situation to be in. He had to have found out this before he lost his memories, wonder how it went. 

Guess Colt did some fucked up torture with Frank; otherwise why is this guy behind the glass doing this elaborate trap to kill me. Atleast I didn’t have much residium since I lost it

Love other Colt’s red sweater, I wish the other fashions weren’t hidden behind PVP because I’ll never touch it

Glad that the dialogue now as I go from zone to zone is all about Colt and Julianna, situation seems messy and complicated even before Colt’s memory loss

Some of the messages between Julianna and the other visionaries (like Wenjie) its interesting to see how Julianna just plays around with them, knowing they wont remember the next day. I’m just fucking now realizing that her showing up with different slabs and loadouts means she’s killed the visionaries for them. Not enough to break the loop I bet but for fun and loot chasing. 

Listening to the Aleksis doll, he really is just a Lord of the Flies Wolves style psychopath, no hidden depths just entitled rich asshole

Awwww 2-Bit upgraded me to power user. I actually wanted 2-BIT to feel better about himself not just manipulate him

Besides the reactor is there history as to why Julianna says bringing Fia was a mistake? Fias reactor gets so much easier with invis but I never did it without invis because I’m bad at stealth otherwise.

L Mirov’s argument against AEON seems based, especially if Colt and Frank were torturing people (funny how Julianna talks about it like a meet-cute)

I did the 2Bit hacking quest, and with guns I liked and healing on melee the combat was pretty easy. 2Bit sounds sooo sad with the edited tape of Charlie yelling at him, I actually feel bad

I stayed to watch their domestic dispute, then I didn’t like the idea of drowning them while I ran away so I tried to fight them which triggered the emergency flooding, went out the wrong way so lost residuum but I’ve stopped caring about that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For all the build up defeating the visionaries at the party was stealth snipe Julianna, some minor run and gun, then stealth snipe everyone else from the rooftop. Didn’t really use my modified loadout

Julianna says what if the loop ends and everyone is dead, I hope not but thinking there would be another ending seems overly optimistic. (Postgame edit: glad there is one last day, but without Julianna announcing it how much shit goes down before people could be warned there’s no resurrecting)

How does it work that I JUST fought Julianna but shes there at the control center???

The plane crash is a well done first person scene, doesn’t make me motion sick but deliberately disorienting for up and down. The argument they had where Julianna talks about Colt killing her over and over no shit that she’s upset with him

So the part where you go to pick up the pistols, I hesitated in that as long as possible, then when I picked it up “well I’m not going to shoot her so let’s see this cutscene play out” not even thinking about shooting in the cutscene. Then Julianna didn’t shoot either and is there when Coltwakes up, while I have a lot of questions it was very heartwarming her calling him “Dad”.

Time to look up other endings: so in my ending seems they remain in the loop but together, long term it might be pretty dark since you can’t be everything to another person, and the visionaries are basically the living dead to Colt & Julianna. Also whose to say other Versions of Colt haven’t lived this out before….

Break the loop ending: wow space/time seems fucked, also seems like Julianna and Colt’s relationship might be destroyed for good

Looking up stuff about other Visionaries since i was too busy sniping for most voicelines. Egor really has big incel energy.  I also completely missed the spy sidequest and the Pick Rexly one.

I've been working on this for a couple of days. They're from Twisted Wonderland: Deuce and @chibichibisha's OC Ermine.

She shared with me a snipet of them a few days ago and they wer eso precious and gave me so many feels I just had to draw something. I've wanted to do my OC Dillon as a chibi in the game for some time already, and I got some assets recently and worked on this!! BnHA 6th Popularity Poll Reaction Post - Risky Spoiler-Dodging Edition

hey guys, so seeing as the results from the 6th popularity poll were leaked today, I figured I would do a separate reaction + analysis post this year, rather than piling it in as an extra on top of the chapter reaction post tomorrow. Hawks, who is also going to rank pretty high here, I think. might be he loses some points for killing off Twice, but his back was basically to the wall there. and he has always been very popular, and I think season 4 will also give him a boost, along with his heavy involvement in the first half of the War arc

Tomura was already in 6th place last year and I think he cracks the top 5 this year. he’s gotten exponentially more popular since the MVA arc, and got a boost in the last poll even though his flashback had only just barely happened, and he hadn’t finished Awakening yet and all that stuff. anyway, so he’s only gotten cooler and more tragic since then so I think he makes a big play here

Kirishima, Momo, Tokoyami, and Mina should also hopefully do well, since the poll opened right in the middle of all that Gigantomachia action, and Toko had just got done being an absolute badass and protecting his birb dad. I don’t think he’ll quite make it to the top ten, but he should

Fanfic ask game for procrastinating on writing, which as of this week is actually accurate, since I’m finally writing again! (or, more specifically, editing what I wrote two months ago so I can get back to writing.)

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

72! I was hovering at 69 for quite a while, sad to break the streak haha

2) What’s your total AO3 word count?

~550K, which is somehow both more and less than what I expected

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Many, lmao. According to my Ao3 (omitting any blanket tags) I’ve got 22 there, plus at least two more over on ff.net from back in the day, and probably a couple more just on Tumblr. Most of them I’ve only written one fic for, though. I think the only fandoms where I’ve written more than one are Critical Role (35), Supernatural (15), Haikyuu!! (3), The Exorcist (2), Dimension 20 (2), and Yu-Gi-Oh! (2)

4) What are your top five fics by kudos?

Pick a Number, Any Number

Surprisingly, my number one is NOT a Critical Role fic, nor is it even one of my longer multi-chapters! It’s actually a one-shot I wrote for Haikyuu!! back in the day that took off far beyond what I expected. I wrote it for DaiSuga week, which was a ship I (to be completely honest) wasn’t even terribly invested in, but I had a fun idea and people seemed to like it! (It’s also much fluffier than what I usually write, which might be part of its broader appeal ;))

A Winter’s Ball

Unsurprisingly, the next four are all CR ;). This one was a M9 x VM crossover that I primarily wrote between the hours of 3-8am over the course of two insomnia-wracked nights and honestly, I think it shows in its uncharacteristically unstructured format (compared to my typical style, which tends to favour shorter scenes with very intentionally-placed breaks between, as opposed to scenes that flow into each other without pause). That’s not to say I think it’s a bad thing! The story, which follows Beau as she drifts through a party in Whitestone and observes the interactions between the various guests, actually flows better without that kind of interruption. This was also my first Beaujester piece. I started writing it right before Beau’s confession aired, and published it the week after, which definitely pushed me to make what had been only subtextual in the first half of my draft into the emotional lynchpin of the story.

Only the Nightingale Sings

I’m really glad this one still ranks as high as it does, because this story is absolutely my pride and joy. At one time (though I’m not sure that’s true anymore) it was the longest gen fic in the fandom, which is pretty cool! Plot-heavy, twist-heavy, angst-heavy, with seven points of view to follow and multiple interwoven storylines, it was a beast of a thing to write, and took almost exactly a year to finish, but the long process was oh-so worth it. Literally nothing makes me happier today than seeing a new comment or kudos on this story.

Closer Still

One of my earliest shadowgast fics, this one asks the question “how can you make the ‘stuck in an elevator trope’ fantasy?” The answer is, as always, demiplanes. This fic, perhaps more than any of my other shadowgast fics, is interesting to revisit, because it was written before the ep 97 reveal, but literally everything Essek does in it would suggest otherwise. It reads like I already knew he was a spy working with Trent, and yet I was firmly in the “Essek is NOT the spy” camp at the time. Gotta chalk that up to Matt telegraphing his growing guilt into the preceding episodes - even if I couldn’t see it, it was clearly there.

your dust from mine

My other novel-length CR multichapter, this fic brought me so much joy in the otherwise bleak summer of 2020. Most of my best memories of those four months come from working on this story. A Fjorclay adaption of The Goose Girl (my favourite fairytale) this story is about healing, growth, and figuring out what happiness means to you. While I know most people don’t read stories for this pairing anymore, for obvious reasons, I still cherish your dust from mine for how much of my heart I poured into it, and I look back on it with a huge amount of fondness.

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I do my absolute best to respond to every comment someone leaves on a story of mine, even if it occasionally takes a month or two. Replying to comments is one of my favourite parts of the fic-writing process - it gives me a chance to revisit peoples’ kind words and (often, incredibly insightful) observations, and I hope it also shows how appreciative I am of each and every one. 

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Though I write a lot of angst, I honestly tend more towards bittersweet endings than straight-up sadness. The only one I can really think of is What You Own - mind the tags if you follow the link, this is definitely one of the gnarlier things I’ve written for CR - whose ending is, admittedly, bleak. But this story so far removed from canon that I don’t think it’s the kind of angsty ending that lingers with you, as much as it packs a punch and then lets you go on your way.

7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I tend to enjoy thinking about crossovers moreso than actually writing them. I’ve brainstormed a few, but none have ever made it much farther than the first page.

8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

A few times! Not often, thankfully. Only one time in particular really sticks out to me, mostly for how it rocked my confidence in a way that I don’t think any comment could now, since I’ve had a few more years to build up faith in my own writing.

9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Very, very occasionally.

10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I hope not! 

11) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope!

12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Oh man, back in the Glee days... yeah. Yeah, I have. Nothing that ever got published, though ;)

13) What’s your all time favourite ship?

Not sure I have one! Ships come and go with the seasons, and sometimes they’re best left in the era you found them.

14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

The Shadowgast figure skating AU. It’s never going to happen, but I wish it had.

15) What are your writing strengths?

I would say probably structure, in terms of constructing narrative arcs and through-lines. I’m organized with my writing in a way that I am in few other areas of my life, haha. I’d also say my sense of place - I think I’m pretty good at constructing living, breathing settings and exploring how my characters interact affect/are affected by them.

16) What are your writing weaknesses?

I have a tendency to be wordy (which you might surmise from the length of this post, lol) and repeat myself, usually by going over emotional beats that don’t need the extra reinforcement. On the other hand, I tend to underexplain certain elements (particularly, important plot details in fic, and character motivation in original writing), which can lead to confusion.

A couple years ago I would have said dialogue, but I’ve put a lot of practice into it and I honestly think I’ve improved a lot, which is pretty cool!

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I’ve never done it myself, and it’s not generally my favourite thing to read (like @essektheylyss said, it makes me hyper-aware that I’m reading words on a page, especially if I have to follow a footnote somewhere). That said, I’ve definitely also seen it used effectively, so I think it’s more down to whether it suits the particular story!

18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

first creation and most recent creation of 2020: i am not going to link my first one because it is Gross and i do not want to relive it, but it was a love shot set, i really was just throwing some random adjustment layers on there to see what happened and i had no idea what they did and that’s what i ended up with ahfdkjsdh. my most recent creation is an addition to the nct being whipped for winwin series, because really who isn’t a simp for him come on

one of your favorite creations from 2020: there is absolutely no rhyme or reason for me picking this bc it’s so random but i loved how the colors turned out, and they are bubs and i love them and they make me smile hehe

a creation you’re really proud of: gonna try to avoid ones that i linked in my top 5 post, so this one! it’s not my best work or anything by far, but it was the first time i figured out how to download smaller clips of really long videos and got the coloring to look soft and not too extreme. i’m also going to add this one bc it was the first time i tried making gifs of a live stage!! 

a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it: i’ve been wanting to try the sparkle trend for a while and i finally had a chance to in my secret santa present! it didn’t turn out exactly how i hoped in the 3rd and 4th gifs, but i think it turned out beautifully on the 1st one with the lights and especially the 2nd one with the snow 🥺

Gonna combine these two cause I think these are from the same anonie, who I’m starting to think likes to make people suffer djfhskdh (if it’s not from the same person, then big rip) 

Sorry this took so long, I was really trying to narrow it down to top 5 and I think I still ended up failing... I actually do this with my friends but usually, we’re a little bit more generous by narrowing it down to stuff like: top 5 title tracks, top 5 rap-line, top 5 vocal line, top 5 albums, etc... Asking me top 5 songs from their entire discography is absolutely savage.

For my top 5 BTS songs (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER BECAUSE I BARELY NARROWED IT DOWN TO FIVE, YOU CANT MAKE ME RANK THEM):

Blood Sweat & Tears: the monarch, the goat, putting it simply, the absolute best. I honestly remember when the Wings short films started dropping, my friend and I panicked HARD because we were like “WTF IS GOING ON WHAT IS THIS”. And then the teaser dropped, and it was so different from the “typical” BTS we’ve been getting, so we were even more confused. But then... The MV dropped and that was honestly just such a massive turning point for everything. Also, as an ARMY with a Jimin bias, I almost didn’t survive it.

Attack on Bangtan: okay this is honestly just such a fun hype song that never gets old no matter how many times you listen to it? It’s honestly a classic and whenever it plays on Run BTS, I know I’m either about to witness an epic moment or it’s gonna send my ass on the floor from laughing. (Also, let us never forget Tae’s “Nico nico niiii~”)

I Need U: okay this was The song that got me learning all their names and holy shit, I’ve listened to this song so much, it’s currently 5th most played song (out of nearly 2k songs) in my iTunes with 1,338 plays. When one hears “Fall...”, one does not simply resist the urge to belt “EVERYTHANG” with feelings. Also, funnily enough, the one that first caught my eye was Yoongi, there was something so eye-catching about the way he rapped in such a despondent manner at the start of the mv. 

House of Cards: I definitely need to put this one because I’ve listened to this song a total of 2,104 times, if you add the Prologue (short) version total (861) to the full length one (1,243). This was my “hoe” anthem long before My Time was born. I deadass fell in love with the song 10 seconds in, there was no saving me and you cannot stop anyone from doing emo bodyrolls when it comes up. Jikook’s bridge? I can’t sing to save my life but you can bet your ass I’m lipsyncing to that shit every single time.

I HATE THIS. I HATE PICKING THE LAST ONE, I WANT TO FIT THEIR ENTIRE DISCOGRAPHY INTO THIS LAST SPOT FFFFFFF.

Perfect Man: I’m a Jimin stan. What did you expect, me to not include this masterpiece??

As I Told You: Good lord, Jungkook was so fkn attractive in a hockey jersey of all things. I honestly loved it so much, I can listen to the live audio as is.

2018 MMA - IDOL Intro Performance (3J focus): Again, I am a Jimin stan. But seriously, from Hobi hitting every. single. beat. while dancing on a raised platform, to Jimin’s fan dance (I streamed the show live and I couldn’t focus on anything else after), to JK lounging like the absolute king that he is, what’s not to love?

It’s Tricky Bangtan Bomb: oldie but goldie, honestly. All of them were babies but holy shit, if their casual dancing didn’t absolutely make me fall in love with them all over again. It honestly never gets old no matter how many times I watch it.

BTS Carpool Karaoke: I have to admit, I honestly got stuck picking the last one so I went with this one because I feel like this is a really really good video to introduce others to BTS to. From their amazing acapella vocals (JK belting Finesse lives in my mind rent free) to how they were so perfectly themselves? You had Hobi’s sunshine smile in the middle, Baby Mochi, Jin’s “I don’t know what he said, but let’s laugh ha ha ha ha”, etc. 

Okay I have to admit something, I probably forgot like 90% of their videos so if any of you guys mention a video, I might go “AH SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE SKDJFHKSH” so take this list more as a “bangtan videos you should 100% watch” :^)

For my top 5 jikook moments (you absolutely devil, how could you ask me such a question), in no particular order because, again, I actually cannot physically bring myself to rank them:

Jimin comforting a crying JK during LY: (6:05) the way Jimin ran over as soon as he saw Jungkook bent over, facing the backstage. My heart. And he kept JK company for a bit, making sure he was fine before leaving. This whole thing just makes my heart melt into a puddle no matter how many times I think/see about it because it’s like, the timing is just? Anpanman barely started and he just looked over, saw, and ran over. Jesus Christ.

That Jikook moment during SY Seoul Finale: Just how much comfort Jimin must represent for Jungkook to let the dam free once again just seeing his face aghhhhhasgdahj I literally made an entire post about that moment because of how incredibly soft it gets me. I’ve linked it but it’s also my pinned so it’s very easy to find. 

“Are you guys dating?”: (start) holy shit okay so this moment is so sdjkfhkdshkfdhks the way both of them were so giggly? It never fails to make me laugh how absolutely done Joon sounded when he said “push quickly!” Also, just how soft did Jimin make his voice when he asked “are you ready”? and how JK, the single most competitive member of BTS, was just giggling the entire time and didn’t even try pushing Jimin before Jimin ended up eliminating himself. Not to mention how JK couldn’t into Jimin’s eyes and only finally made eye contact with at the very end :^)

MMA 2018: lmao okay so I’m just gonna throw this entire fkn night into the mix. I still remember how it was the wee hours in the morning for me when I started following the live stream and damn, they were literally inseparable the entire time. My TL was exploding in Jikook content and between watching them through the official broadcast and watching the fancams, I was BUSY. They did everything: whispering to each other’s ears, slinging their arms around each other’s shoulders, JK massaging JM’s nape, JK pulling JM down to sit... phew.

GCF in Tokyo: Okay so this is one of those things that the more you think about it, the more you can’t believe it’s real. I couldn’t not include this simply because of how meaningful the whole thing was. There’s so much about it that makes me ????? because JK really booked a two-person trip to Tokyo for Jimin’s birthday. And Jimin genuinely had fun on that trip. The whole thing just shows how comfortable the two of them are with each other because they’d never had gone on a trip together elsewise. I recently saw a Korean movie director’s reaction to GCF and the whole thing didn’t have any subs, but the two reactors were like “ohhh... these two... these two must be really close” (they’d reacted to BTS MVs before, but they’re not familiar with how the members are outside of that). From my limited Korean understanding, the movie director then commented “Because the model and the director are so close, it’s very natural” (if I’ve gotten any Korean followers, I’d love to get confirmation on the words said because my Korean understanding isn’t perfect and I don’t want to be spreading crap around). Am I a fan?: UHHHH YEAH OF COURSE, he’s the loml and like i have said many times if he wants a wife, i am AVAILABLE.

Favorite move: the frankenstiener from the top rope to the outside JUST KIDDING, he hates that move and never wants to do it again lol. he truly has the BEST finishing move in the business, so the One Wing Angel for sure 

Favorite match: ahhhhh sooooo many...BUT the first match of his that i actually got to watch live (not in person, but live on ppv) was Omega vs Okada 4, when he FINALLY won the big one. I literally went to be at 10pm the night before and set an alarm for 4am so i could be up to watch it and it was an hour and 15 minutes of PERFECTION.

Favorite feud: kenny vs ibushi, which will never end because when they’re apart he just cant stop doing things to get ibushi’s attention. also kenny vs adam cole and kenny vs cody, but as in the BTE storylines because they’re fucking hilarious. rn i LOVE kenny vs Mox because they have amazing chemistry

Favorite promo: its funny because i feel like he’s not a big “promo” guy in the classic sense, because often his best character work has come from interviews, which arent traditional promos. BUT there was one from i believe right after he won the G1? and he was so over all the fan’s surprise at his win and his voice was shot and he was YELLING at points. it was amazing.

EDIT: it took me so long to post because i was trying to find a link to the promo BUT I COULDNT FIND THE VIDEO, but yeah whatevs it was GREAT.

Dream match: i’ve already gotten my dream matches that are possible from him lmao, but i have wanted for some time to see either The Elite vs The New Day, or The Elite vs The Bloodline. i mean Roman and Kenny would be so good, but add in the dream of the Bucks vs the Usos??? imagine the superkick party <3

Seen live?: no :(, i tried so hard to get tickets for the first ever dynamite since it was in my town of DC, but all these out of DMV area people wanted to come for the first ever show and took all the tickets. i have an irrational hatred of every out of state person who was there since i couldnt go LMAO. but one day when i can go to a dynamite, im gonna get front row, make myself look my best, and bring a sign that says “i’d love a kiss from Kenny, Colt, Kris, or Chuck <3″, and just shoot my shot :)

Unpopular opinion: SO because Kenny works with long term storylines better than anyone else in the game, and because i also have a very long term storyline creative mind, he has given us (and especially me) the ability to look VERY far ahead in this current storyline to all the possibilites that could happen with it. THEREFORE, my “unpopular” opinion, is that I LOVE THE CURRENT KENNY DRAMA. it’s so melodramatic and i just love the emotional rollercoaster he wants to put us on, and i have faith that he will be reunited with the bucks and ibushi once again, and i look forward to the stress he is putting us under in the meantime :)

Thanks to the wonderfully wonderful @phd-mama for tagging me on this little bit of self love. as far as I can tell, everyone I know has already been tagged, but if you haven’t, please consider yourself tagged and take a minute to reflect on what you’ve accomplished in a year that was an absolute shitstorm of awful. 

2020 was the year I remembered I was a writer, and actually wrote. A LOT. I currently have over 120K words written this year - and I’ve still got 4 days to add to it. 

According to AO3, I have ten completed fics under my belt for 2020, including Untamed Hearts, a WIP from 2018 that I finished this year - and I have been assured I am justified in adding to this year end review. Five of those fics are the 5 weeks of wordplay, though, and they’re really just one story as well. Being the rule breaker I am, you’re getting my thoughts on all six stories. 

I’m just going to do these in the order of completion on AO3 - 

1. Untamed Hearts - (Ziam, E, 68K+ words) The first words for Untamed Hearts were written in October/November of 2013. The first chapter was posted in June of 2018, and was intended to be my big bang - and then my work situation went to absolute shit. The 2nd and 3rd chapters were posted in 2019, but in 2020 I FINALLY finished it - adding the final three chapters and more than doubling the existing word count between the time I finished writing my 2020 big bang and it’s posting. I have a deep love for this fic because it took so terribly long to bring into the world. Surfer Liam/Skater!Artist Zayn and all their interfering friends. Summer love in an English coastal town. 

2. Live a Thousand Lifetimes - (Ziam, E, 57K+ words) My big bang fic. I’m so fucking proud of this fic, y’all. I still want to write an epilogue (it’s kind of already started), but I’, pleased with where I left the fic for now. Future headcanon, with a vineyard, horses, BAMF Karen Payne, and an adorable blue pitbull named Quinn. 

3. Ink on Your Fingers, Ink on My Skin - (Ziam, E, 1788 words) Written for the 2020 Wankfest. Honestly, this is Porn without a Plot, LMAO! And I still owe @lightwoodsmagic a sequel. I haven’t forgotten, love, honest. 

4. A Friend’s Gambit - (Ziam, Teen+, complete series - 15,580 words) My 2020 Wordplay series. I was late on the last week of the series, but I did finish it all. Much love to @lululawrence for her indulgence on letting me play in her fest. I wish I would have had more personal time to devote to this fic, cause I don’t feel like it’s my absolute best work, but I do like the sweetness of the story. 

5. Let Me Be Your Everlasting Light - (Larry, M, 11879 words) My only LArry fic this year. This fic was actually intended for the 28 Proposals fest last winter, but between going to London last fall, and then the craziness of the holidays, i just couldn’t get it finished. This fic is dedicated to @kingsofeverything , who is a wonderfully patient friend. This fic is set in Norway, and I had soo much fun researching all the little details. Featuring a lot of snow, a nervous Harry, and a proposal under the Northern Lights. 

6. For Evermore - (Ziam, Teen+, 17,536 words) This fic was a pinch hit for the Disney Direction fic fest and I absolutely adored recreating my favorite fairytale.  A Beauty and the Beast AU featuring Beast!Liam, Beauty!Zayn, and a cast of talking household items, including Louis as a talking candlestick. 

I had a pretty good year writing. Here’s hoping that 2021 is as successful!

first creation and most recent creation of 2020:

My first creation was this Klaroline fic, a pseudo-Rapunzel fusion (with Klaus as Rapunzel, ofc). Although since it was for a secret exchange, I’m going to cheat and link the first post of a creation in my blog, aka this short BatCat smutty one-shot.

My most recent one is this excerpt from one of my original stories, a sci-fi space opera wip. The two main characters (and the wlw lead couple) meeting for the first time. Fandom-wise, my last gifset posted (although there are more ready in the queue) is this Maxanne-Silverflint parallel from s02e01. Of which I’m very proud.

one of your favourite creations from 2020:

I have literally 20 pages of new stuff created this year lol, so shorting through that it’s... a lot. I think my favourite creations over all others are the ones I’ve made for my original stuff, especially the excerpts. It had been a long time since I could focus on original creations ^-^

a creation you’re really proud of: 

I held out and made content all through Femslash February, I’m proud of that. I’m also proud of this BTVS’ Kendra-centric one-shot, because it finally got me out of my funk, fic-wise.

a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it:

I don’t know that I’ve tried new styles, other than simply trying out sharpenings, colouring etc. lol. I experiment more with graphics than with gifsets, I guess? I really liked how my header, a Max from Black Sails edit, came out

your favourite colouring:

I’m proud of this one in a Pepperony-Klaroline parallel set, because it took effort to make them look similar lol. This one for a snowkru/bad bitches kru parallel set was lovely too (here in big form). And this one in a Maxanor-Flintmiranda parallel set. I’m also quite proud of how I manage to color dark scenes like this Flint one lol.

a creation that took you forever:

Compilation gifsets take sooooo long lmao. Most recently, this Silverflint set felt like it took YEARS.

your creation from 2020 that received the most notes:

According to one of those stat sites, it’s this Pepper x Natasha IM2 gifset. The MCU fandom provides notes lol. It still doesn’t have as many notes as my silly shit-post about Asriel and Marisa being shitty parents xD, but that’s from 2019 alas. Hell, I only have three gifsets with more notes than that text post (a Lucas fashion set from Stranger Things; this Eleanor Shellstrop in a leather jacket thirst-trap set; and another Stranger Things set of Steve being Awkward(TM)).

a creation you think deserved more notes:

All of them lmfao *is conceited*. Especially my original stuff!! And everything in the #my graphics or #my icons tags. Those need to be appreciated too!!

a creation with a favorite scene/quote: 

This one combines both! It’s a Memori edit of their scene ~~transcending in the series finale (transcendence is whatever, but the moment is pretty), paired with the epic Lyra x Will “every atom” quote *-*

a new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it:

I got started with a few new (or new to me; some of those edits are still in the queue... like for Supernatural xD) fandoms this year, mainly Black Sails. I also made this one for Julie and the Phantoms, this one from The Wire, or this one for The Old Guard.

a creation you made that breaks your heart:

The ones I made recently for Will from His Dark Materials. Also, this Max x mirrors set.

a ‘simple’ creation that you really love:

I’ve done some of what I call “meta edits” lol, of simple scenes that I think say a lot about writing/fandom/human nature/Etc. This Louis Litt edit; this Caroline Forbes edit; this Nikita scene; or all these edits from Reign.

a creation that was inspired by another one: 

I’m coming up blank with this one. I’m not saying my ideas come from out of nowhere lol, but I don’t tend to grab 1:1 inspo for edits etc.

a favourite creation created by someone else:
