Feeling all sorts of fucked up about the use of This Woman's Work by Kate Bush in OFMD again, because I was just giving it a listen (again) (hundredth time today) (as you do). So much of the song speaks to what Ed is going through - he's got a little life in him yet, he's thinking about all the things he and Stede never did, but tonight I was really struck by the line "give me these moments back."

Because that's so much of what s2 is about, isn't it? From Ed's perspective, so many of those sweet moments he had with Stede have to feel ruined. In the Gravy Basket, Hornigold taunts Ed about how Ed told Stede his biggest secret, and then Stede left - that sweet moment where Ed told Stede about his dad has to feel sullied to Ed. Ed doesn't know yet why Stede left; he obviously thinks it was all his fault, and all those wonderful and genuine moments he had with Stede in s1 feel tarnished in his mind. Ed and Stede making up and Ed learning that it wasn't his fault Stede left allows him to reclaim those moments they shared.

And s2 goes even further once Ed and Stede get back together. Their kiss in the moonlight is very intentionally the two of them rewriting the same moment from s1, only this time, even if they aren't yet quite fully on the same page, they're at least reading the same book.

Never going to stop being insane about this I think.

See, it's scenes like this that really nail part of the college experience for me. Because things do change after graduation, they change a lot.

And there is this melancholy that exists, around the relief and celebration of being done with a degree. Because you're never again going to have that same sort of experience, with everyone being at the same state of life, in the same way.

But also, I love moments like this - because Fang is not just defined by his relationship with Tan, but Phum and now Peem are also key to his life. Love how much this show emphasizes that all relationships are important.

Also, I know there are going to be people who are mad at the stuff with Phum and his dad. But this show was never going to be about someone cutting off his family. And I do need to point out that this doesn't mean he's forgiven his dad, or magically gotten over his trauma. He's just able to be civil, and it's clear he feels some relief from that. It's fine if it would not be your personal choice, but honestly, for a lot of us, this is a realistic part of how it works with family sometimes.

Q & Toey cuteness is always so soothing. Also, Oh totally knew they were the post-it buddies, right? And just didn't say anything?

Rise of the Titans ending rewrite

Trollhunters is one of my favorite shows of all time, and 3 below and Wizards are really good as well. Unfortunately, the film that ended the series ended on a low note. I liked the the film itself, not nearly as good as the shows that proceeded it, but decent and if it were not for the ending it would have been a serviceable ending. However, the ending ruined the movie. Having Jim Lake restart the Tales of Arcadia series from the very beginning and making Toby the new troll hunter was a very bad decision. Not only was there an episode of Trollhunters that shows that the world would be screwed if Jim never became the troll hunters, but it also undoes all the the character development everyone aside from Jim went through and made the deaths of allies like Drall less impactful. After some time of thinking I also thought of other problems that the film had that made the film unwatchable compared to the shows. So here, I want to create a new ending for Rise of the Titans to hopefully end the series on a better note. This post will just discuss a possible new ending if they had to keep everything else, because as bad as the other things are, the ending was my biggest gripe with the film, but I will do another post where I rewrite the film altogether. So here is my ending rewrite of Rise of the Titans.

After defeating Belroc, Jim goes to check on Toby only to see him close to death. Not only that, despite being dead, Belroc technology won as they got their titan to the core and the Earth as we know it will soon come to an end. Jim looks at the Krohnisfere which took a lot of damage and gets the idea to go back in time to stop all of this, however due to the damage it took, the user could only go back in time so far and Jim is the only one with Excalibur so he can't go back otherwise no one will be able to stop Belroc. Knowing this, Jim decides to use the kronenfere to go back in time to the train fight at the start of the film and use his new amulet to defeat Belroc and Skrel, preventing all the death and destruction they caused. After the battle, we cut to some time in the future were we see what the gang have been up to. Nari forms a new Arcane order that hopefully won't go evil and destroy the world. Jim, Toby, Claire, Eli and Krel head off to college. Douxie becomes the new master wizard looking over everything with Archie by his side. Aja takes Steve with her to Akiridion-5 were they run the planet in piece, occasionally visiting Earth to visit their friends. And finally, Blinky and Arrrgh along side some of the other trolls find a new home for them and the other trolls. The film then closes with Jim looking at his amulet and deciding to keep it so that no matter what, Earth will always have a protector. The End.

So what did you guys think, did I improve the ending or did I make it worse.

Fic Prompts: Voltron Thursday

Idea for the day: a Trollhunters au: you can use the show as a basis, or the original Del Toro book. You will most likely get wildly different results depending on which one, considering the show is not very similar to its source material at all. Example of book-based au:

On a warm night in 1987, twelve year old Allura Altea was riding her bike around the old Lionsbridge overpass. One of her cousins riding with her passed under the bridge and turned to see what was taking his cousin so long. He saw Allura's abandoned bicycle, wheels still turning, lying on the ground. But there was no sign of Allura Altea.

Folks in the town got a little nervous after that. Posters were put up, police were called, but nobody ever found the Altea girl. Two generations later, the adults of Garrison were still paranoid. The curfew was strictly maintained, and elaborate home security systems were common. The children often resented it, feeling that a cold case from the 80s shouldn't determine how they lived their lives. Their parents usually told them that they'd understand when they were older. That at least they knew they were safe.

I was not entirely wrong about the little miss sunshine parallel, but they have a pretty clear set of diverging points!

this movie like: hey someone's gonna die, could it be this sad sad man who is completely falling to pieces after the death of his father? AND THEN IT PLAYS THAT STRAIGHT -- WE'RE IN A TIME WHERE PLAYING IT STRAIGHT IS MORE SHOCKING THAN A PLOTTWIST

OHHH THE GHOST STORY OF IT ALL IM NOT PAST THAT DONT THINK IM PAST THAT

that "I'm fine" screencap has revealed itself to be the most perfect one, both for the character and the way I feel after this ouch

ok ok ok but ALSO I AM SOOOO HAPPY WHEN I GO INTO A MOVIE KNOWING NOTHING and I'm seeing the things it's laying out and it's not trying to trick me, it's laying out these things deliberately and it's rewarding me for picking up on what it's doing -- the loneliness, the toxic masculinity, the violence of neglect and being ignored and openly casually looked down on -- this character gives so many signs to the people around him, at one point his cousin finds him sobbing in a corner and nothing is done

so um... I was comparing this to joyland at times in my head (best movie of all time my most sacred of films) and I was so right to for [spoilers] but this and joyland boy oh boy oh boy

IT'S A GHOST STORY IT'S A FLIPPING GHOST STORY ABOUT HOW A GHOST IS MADE! A GHOST STORY IN HINDSIGHT! DO YOU HEAR ME?? (banging pots and pans)

arrrgh all the hints and clues throughout. the tree. the graveyard. the part where he falls down a literal hole and the wolf appears. on and on and on

I wonder about the setting, which I know very little about -- wikipedia, now I'm on it describes it as "McCluskieganj, Bihar (now in Jharkhand) an old Anglo-Indian town in 1979," which I did wonder about singing auld land syne, but I don't know if that's common throughout India to sing at new year's

equally curious and ignorant on the dynamic with the servants -- whether this is caste-based, how the movie portrayed that dynamic, etc. I felt like it had several scenes that highlighted the casual... I suppose cruelty? but not as sadism or even punishment, simply an "understanding" about who has power and who doesn't. when they were singing auld lang syne upstairs and the camera panned downstairs to show them eating food on the floor with the puppy (equally neglected)

so something about a connection between how shutu is treated that's echoed in the servants and even the dog -- to a lesser extent the child, although she does tend to prefer shutu's company precisely because he's the only one paying attention to her (which is then ironically what he is blamed for failing to do, when he's the only one who up until then has done so properly)

this not to say that the other characters are wholly unsympathetic, I think the film does a good job of making them feel real -- tani's mother goes to pieces when she's lost, and tries to help out in various situations, mimi is an outsider for being "more" foreign and while callous isn't deliberately cruel, so much as someone who's impulsive and often thoughtless, and the three other guys all have moments that show them to be more than "just" bullies (although, youknow, fuck vikram)

it's just that these sorts of environments that foster a need for appearances over authenticity and truth, the illusion of picture-perfect covers anything that isn't quite right by simply... not being allowed to talk about it. whether it's class, caste, mental health issues, bad marriages, or other forms of neglect that become systemic and rotten (oh look, I could also be talking about joyland!) -- and these spaces are, if paired with money, a surface-level glitter of games and easy times and not having to worry about a thing

but also IT'S A GHOST STORY! they'll never forget that this was the place that shutu killed himself, that they were in some way guilty of his death (unless they deliberately shut those thoughts down, but you know it'd come out in other ways), this place is forever haunted

they did talk about how they'd need to move out of that house eventually

alright, as they say, it's been 84 years I am finally watching a death in the gunj! @le-red-queen it is on!

The students x Reader(platonic) : a big Crash Bang Escape

Warnings: Reader almost dying, Implied panic attack(lonely wizard)

Summary: The reader goes to go watch over the three students of Magnificus while he is away at a meeting with the other Scrybes, things don't go as planned when you encourage them to use their magic.

Author's Note: As promised, here is the seven page fic I ended up getting burned out on. I still love it, no doubt about it, hopefully I just wont go the lengths I did again lol

You were walking to Magnificus’s castle, walking up to it, to be exact. You had been tasked with watching over Magnificus’ students for a few hours while he was at a meeting with the other Scrybes. He, of course, told you not to let them practice magic but you had other plans in mind.

To be expected, when you got there Magnificus was already gone and the three students were left to their own accord. It looked like they were playing a cross between uno and go fish, but you might be wrong. You knew it did have Uno and normal playing cards though.

“Hey, everyone!” you exclaimed, happy to see them.

The three of them ran up to you. They were just as, if not more, excited to see you. You were knocked down by the force of them, all of you laughing as you fell down onto the wooden flooring.

As both Pike and Lonny got off of you, you helped Goobert unstuck from your shirt fabrics.

“What are we going to do?” Pike asked, Lonny shaking next to her.

“I was thinking we could try and practice your magic!” You said, doing jazz hands.

“MAGNIFICUS SAID NO MAGIC THOUGH!” Lonny hollered, looking quite mad. Pike nodded along.

“Yes, he did. But I’m not magnificus, am I?” You said, a sly smile on your face.

Goobert seemed to have nothing to say on the matter, but his eyes shifted between you and the others though.

“You alright, Goobert?” You asked, noting the eye shifting. He took a second to respond.

“Arrrgh.. just thinking… what if we accidentally break something of importance?” He groaned out.

You thought about what he said for a minute before responding.

“Good point, I guess we’ll go from there then! Let’s just hope we don’t break anything.” You responded.

Goobert seemed to be satisfied by that answer, looking noticeably more comfortable and excited.

All three of them ran off to grab their respective wands before running back to you in the main room. They all seemed enthusiastic about doing some magic for you.

“Any spells you already know of that you could show me?” You asked them, eager to see them practice.

They all did some sort of confirmation followed up by talk of various spells you knew nothing about. Admittedly, you wouldn’t know anyways since you didn’t practice their magic, so you laughed at the chatter and asked for a demonstration.

Pike did spells that produced something akin to small fireworks, Lonny did ones that created a small story out of light people, and Goobert did.. Well, you couldn't figure out what he did. You did know that it caused you to taste orange soda, so that was something.

“That was amazing, you guys! I couldn't exactly tell what Goobert’s was though.” You congratulated, your voice growing more uncertain near the end.

“Oh, yeah. Goobert likes his spell he made up that makes everyone in the short proximity of him taste orange soda.” Pike said, looking over to a particularly proud looking Goobert.

“Well alright then! That's a very good spell too.” You laughed. Goobert chuckled along with you. It indeed was a good spell, especially if you liked orange soda.

“I HAVE A SPELL I’VE BEEN WORKING ON!” Lonny shouted suddenly, holding up his wand some, a determined yet mischievous expression on his face.

“Show me, little guy!” You said.

Both Goobert and Pike tried shutting down the idea once they realized what he was going to do, but Lonny was already hooked on doing the spell.

“ABRACA FUCK YOU!” He shouted, holding the wand out in front of him.

The wand glowed with a white light before Lonny suddenly was knocked off his feet and was forced to point the wand upwards as he fell. A beam of blinding white light came from the wand, when it faded Lonny was laying on the floor with his arms still upwards and a new hole was burnt in the ceiling.

You grabbed the small wizard as you all rushed to the higher floor of the castle. Inside of Magnificus’s room there was a hole in the floor, his canvas and easel were burnt and broken into multiple pieces. Upon further inspection there was also a noticeable singe on the carpet next to where the now decimated items used to sit. On the canvas was what to be assumed a half-finished painting, or at least what was left of it.

“Oooh no, what are we going to tell him?” Pike panicked, hands now tangled in her hair.

“Master.. Argh.. isn't going to like this.” Goobert agreed.

Lonny came to his senses and started shaking violently in your arms, you covered his eyes and hugged him to the best of your ability. Thankfully it didn't take him that long to calm down with the pressure you gave.

“I’ll take the blame. You three do your best to clean up while I go and get Rebecha to fix the boarding. We don't have that long until Magnificus gets back, but we should have enough to clean up.” You said, setting Lonny down.

“Ok, if he somehow gets here before you’re back we’ll.. Try our best to cover for you.” Pike said, starting to pick up parts of the broken easel.

You nodded and walked back down the stairs. You thankfully were able to catch Rebecha on the pier with the Angler and convince her to take the job for free. She didn’t take long to grab her things, make her way back with you, and to fix most of the boards by the time Magnificus arrived.

When he did eventually reach the floor you all were on, unfortunately and of course being his room, he blew a gasket.

“WHAT HAPPENED HERE?!” He bellowed, startling everybody.

Pike froze, Goobert made various bubbled sounds, Lonny started to shake, and Rebecha continued to work unfazed. You stood in front of the three students protectively.

“I’m sorry Magnificus, I picked up a wand and accidentally casted a spell. Do what you must, just don’t hurt them.” You said, taking an affirmative stance in front of them. Magnificus looked at you with disdain.

“Come with me.” He demanded, voice flat but behind it you could tell it was filled with anger and malice.

He turned away and walked down the stairs, you gulped nervously and followed him. Before you made it to the stairs you felt a tug on your shirt. You looked back to see the Lonely Wizard looking at you quietly shaking, tears in his eyes.

“He’ll hurt you.” He said, his voice barely above a whisper.

“I know, but as long as he doesn’t hurt you that’s ok.” You responded back, you were almost certain your voice wavered although you tried your best not to.

He let go of you and let you walk down the stairs, watching you as you went.

As you reached the bottom of the winding staircase, Magnificus was at the bottom. He continued on, walking to a door that you never really acknowledged before.

He looked back at you to make sure you were there before opening it and pushing you in, he walked in behind you and shut the door.

The room was dark, akin to the room Lonely Wizard was thrown into way back when. Magnificus rifled through his fur before pulling out his wand, disinterest and annoyance in his eyes.

As you scrambled to stand up he pointed his wand at you, but as he took a breath to cast a spell the door behind him suddenly splintered and fell into the room.

Both you and the scrybe looked beyond the door in surprise and shock. There stood the three students and Rebecha, who was holding a hammer in her hand.

“DONT FUCK WITH THEM, WE HAVE THE POWER OF MOX AND VOID ON OUR SIDE!” Lonny screamed, his voice cracking and wavering. Not in fear, but in anger.

Magnificus puffed up slightly in rage before speaking.

“What do you think you are doing?” He growled, his stance widening some.

Pike made a motion with her wand that sent out a hand that promptly grabbed you and quickly brought you over to them, Goobert thickened on impact, holding you so you didn’t fall to the floor.

Magnificus made a similar movement, but this time shooting quick beams of light in rapid succession. Everyone ducked away from the beams and when Magnificus walked out of the room, Rebecha threw her hammer at him, hitting dead center on his head. This made him stumble a bit and hold his head in pain.

While he was distracted everyone ran out of the room and out the front door, Pike casting a spell to put up the jawbridge as they left so there was some distance between them and Magnificus.

You all eventually made it past the bridge that connected his and P03’s land and made it into the factory, it became angry quite quickly about the intruding group. That anger quickly dissipated when it realized the state of the group though.

P03 knew what Magnificus had done to his students in the past and if all of you were in his factory this shaken up, there wasn’t much explanation needed as to what had happened.

It ushered you all quickly down a hallway and down the lift into the Dredger’s part of the factory to hide before zooming off back to the main room to make sure Magnificus didn’t find you.

The group sat there for what felt like hours, but in reality it was only about twenty minutes. After that span of time P03 came back down the lift, visibly relieved.

“That stupid wizard bought it, he doesn’t think you’re here. I spent a good portion of my time up there making sure he was really gone and not just hiding, waiting for me to leave the room.” It said, still glancing up to the level above in uncertainty.

“Thank you so much.” You sighed, emotions flooding you. The rest of the group thanked him as well, Goobert falling to the ground in light of their situation, knowing he could take a moment and recollect himself.

Who knows what would have happened if it was really just putting you down here to be fish in a barrel. Quickly letting that thought pass you, you realized, the others looked equally as happy and relieved as you did to know that it wasn’t a trick.

“I won’t let you stay here forever, but I recommend you leave tonight or tomorrow night. Otherwise I’m kicking you out.” It said, going up the lift once it finished speaking. It was a loose threat, the robot would have let you stay until it was safe either way.

“I agree, Magnificus won’t be out at night. I say we either go to Leshy’s or Grimora’s next. Making our own area to stay out in the open or going back to my house is a bad idea.” You said, looking at everyone. They all nodded in agreement.

When night fell everyone agreed to go to Leshy’s cabin first as it was the closest, it thankfully wasn’t that long of a walk either. When you got there Leshy was thankfully still awake and listened to what happened.

“I will let you stay, on the chance he does come looking for you here I will speak with him.” He paused before speaking again “Actually, I will go and speak with him in the morning about the situation. For now, you rest.” He comforted, setting up a room the group could all sleep in for the night.

In the morning it turned out Leshy went out earlier than expected to go and talk with Magnificus. By the time he got back he looked noticeably more scraggly and annoyed.

“You will be safe to go back. If anything happens, tell me.” Leshy said, granting exit from his cabin when all of you felt comfortable.

The group set out later into the evening, thanking Leshy for what he had done. Rebecha ended up branching off back to the pier but wished you all luck, the Angler greeted her back and wished you all luck too.

The walk back home was relatively quiet, all of you were on edge for what awaited you in the castle.

When you arrived at that wizard’s castle, it was silent. Magnificus was sitting in a chair near the staircase, looking towards the floor. When he noticed you there he looked up, surprise lining his expression. He stumbled over his words before finally speaking.

“I’m sorry.” He said bitterly.

“Too little, too late.” Lonny said, he was shaking slightly from anger again. This time it wasn't as bad as it was the day before.

“Yeah, you’ve apologized too late, magic man.” Pike responded, annoyance lining her face.

“I’m done.. aargh.. looking for the old data.” Goobert bubbled, effectively knocking Magnificus’s ego down a few pegs.

Magnificus huffed before standing up, looking at each of you for a few moments and walking up the stairs.

“Go back home, we’ll be fine.” Pike said, lightly punching your shoulder.

“You sure?” you questioned, looking at the three. For them to be ok this quick was a surprise to you.

Each of them confirmed, pushing you lightly out the door.

“You went through.. Argh.. A lot thanks to the master.” Goobert said, pressing himself against you in a hug. You hugged him back the best you could.

“Yeah! Go get some You Time.” Lonny said, hugging your pants leg.

“But come back tomorrow, ok?” Pike said, hugging the side of you that wasn't occupied by the other two.

“Alright, alright.” you laughed, officially running out of room to continue the hug.

You all heard a creak from the stairs, but nothing was there when you looked. You sighed before everyone removed themselves from the hug.

“I’ll come tomorrow, but if I learn that Magnificus has hurt you in any way, I will hurt him back.” You said, a determined and dark look on your face. It made the others laugh, which in turn made you laugh too.

You all said your goodbyes and you made your way home, a smile on your face.

When you got home you realized you were carrying along a passenger, a rock with googly eyes. You chuckled and put it on your shelf, which had something from each time to visited them.

There surely was going to be another addition tomorrow too, which you wouldn't complain about one bit.

Spoilers from both Trollhunters the book and Trollhunters the series!

While reading the book I was really impressed with how many differences there were between the character so I have worked on giving my take on six characters from both media, book vs series, and how they differ from each other :3 

I should mention that while there was illustrations in the book I tried for the challenge not to copy those but follow along the describtions in the book - when possible - to give my own interpretation of the characters ^v^ 

Steve

First up we have Steve. Starting out as the stereotypical bully in both version their paths seperates quickly resulting in two different ending for the musuclar blond Jorgensen-Warner is the book version of Steve. Here's how he is described from our first encounter with him: "He was handsome but in the oddest way- He eyes were too small and his nose piggish: he had a ridiculous amount of hair and a couple of teeth that looked like fangs. Yet somehow in combination these features were sort of mesmerising. His unnatural muscular bulk and odd way of speaking -crisply, politely, as if he were a foreign student who had learned English in class - completed the strange package." page 21-22 For his outfit I went with the description of him on page 224 "[my clothes] ... didn't cast me in the best light when compared to Steve Jorgensen-Warner, who looked rather rakish in blue jeans and a shirt - definitely not a blouse - opened to the third button. He dribbled the ball casually with his left hand." The bold passages is added by me   This Steve is later revealed to be a changeling aka a troll   Before we go on: can any of you explain to me what a "ridiculous amount of hair" even means :'D? I had a lot of trouble with this prompt because isn't this so darn subjective :'D? and the official art look way less ridiculous than I'd figure it'll be :'D x'D Palchuk is the series version of Steve. His facial appearance being way less specific (I'd say he has normal sized eyes, a big roman nose and some more or less normal teeth) and his way of speaking is definitely not polite. Like book Steve, this Steve starts out with pushing smaller guys into lockerrooms yet after that he becomes way less of a terrifying bully and much more of a silly goose who brings a lot of the comic relief in my opinion Douxie says it best in Wizards when he calls Steve the "village idiot" x'D I do not recall seeing Steve being that sporty in the show, he is much more interested in becoming homecoming king  no basketballs around x'D While book Steve is revealed to be the enemy (a troll) series Steve joins the "good guys" creating the creepslayerz with the character Eli Pepperjack

Blinky

Blinky is just called Blinky in the book  Here's a bit of description of him "The third [troll] had scarlet eyes, eight of them on long stems. (...) The thing from my house glided toward me with a surprising grace for something with an indetermined number of legs, all of which were hidden behind a patched kilt scaled with layers of medals, prizes and trophies and award ribbons. An incalculable tangle of tentacles twined around one another as if dying to squeese something to death. As it passed the oven, the firelight revealed olive-green skin, reptilian texture, and lacquer of slime lubricating its undulating appendages Its moth a horizontal gash.. " The bold passages is added by me   So yeah this Blinky is quite something :'D I stopped caring to draw tentacles after a while but overall this was silly but fun to draw  since his teeth later is described as big as traffic cones I believe he must be very tall :'D Also he's close to blind   Has a bit of a dirty mouth but in a very "read" way if it makes sense :'D cannot seem to stop calling Jim dimwitted and tiny and Tobias big :'D Blinky's full name in the series is Blinkus Galadrigal  he has six eyes instead of eight and they are all working just fine, thank you very much x'D His tons of tentacles and legs has been replaced by four arms and two legs and while he is still olive-green he is now made of tone like texture just like the other trolls  the kilt turned into shorts and he is quite a bit smaller now not even as tall as Jim  He still has this very academic way of speaking yet he is way nicer to Jim calling him "Master Jim" instead of "the short one" x'D

ARRRGH!!!

Book ARRGHHH!!!s full name is Johannah Mmmm ARRRGH!!! and she is a pretty big deal warrior among the trolls in the book - she's so badass in fact Blinky has decided to call her by her last name to honor her for her deeds for trollkind   Here's a qoute from the book describing her appearance   "The goliath emerged from the tunnel as comfortably as a dog from a doghouse, coarse black fur pouring into the chamber before I could make out any actual arms or legs (...) Even beneath the fur I could see loops of muscles flexing. (...) ARRRGH!!! was built like a gorilla but three times larger: Two arms, two legs, and, thankfully, just two eyes. Horns, curled like those of a ram (...) The thing's orange eyes cast about with animal perceptiveness, and it used its snout and sniffed. Its jaws fell open to reveal a purple, slavering mouth armed with haphazard daggers of teeth." Page 75-76 The bold passages is added by me   (Also worth mentioning: the qoute is from before the protagonist knows of ARRRGH!!!'s gender which is why he calls her an 'it') At other times in the story we learn that ARRRGH! has quite scarred arms and really wishes for better tooth hygeine; so much so that Tobias actually end up making her a brace out of chicken wire :'D Idk I find it quite adorable :'D Now unto the serie's ARRRGH!!! - first up he is male, his name is Arghaumont and he is famous for another reason than Johannah: he was a general of Gunmar but retreated from the war making him a traitor to his people yet a hero for the good trolls in the series. Series ARRRGH!!! is likewise built like a gorilla but made of stone and having a mane long and green like it is moss  his horns is way smaller and less curvy and his teeth hygeine is never brought up  also his face is way less dog like x'D 

Tobias 

Book Tobias' full name is Tobias M. Dershowitz yet he is going by 'Tubby' or 'Tub'. Here is a describtion of him from the book: "You could call Tobias Dershowitz chubby, if you were being cute, or husky if you were being diplomatic. The fact is he was fat, and that was only the beginning of his problems. His hair was a thick, orange, out-of-control hedge. His face spilled over with the kind of freckles that make kids like Tub look like overgrown toddlers. Worst of all were his braces, marvels of modern torment: whips of stainless steel crisscrossing each tooth seperately and lashed to a dozen silver fasteners. The braces clicked so much when he spoke, you expected sparks. At least he was tall..." page 27 The bold passages is added by me   The outfit I went with is described on page 259 like this: "He stood in the driveway decked out in his best approximation of a ninja: black tennis shoes, black sweatpants, a black hoodie, a belt made from a red curtain sash, and an oversize fanny pack holding his gear (...) It was unfortunate that the fanny pack was lime green..." To describe Tub is a bit difficult because sadly he is not much in the story as I'd liked - mostly he is being quite serious and let us know he is not happy by being sidelined not speaking troll nor being invited on hunts which I completely understand tbh :'D What I do find interesting is how Tub and series Jim has seem to have switched roles a little bit: In the series Jim is the one giving a speech about how he is insecure about his place in life and how he wants more - in the book this is Tub in more than one occassion: "We have to accept who we are. And before you ask, I'll tell you. We're nobody. We have no life. We have nothing to look forward to. We're not special. I just want it to go away. All of it. The stupid being scared. Doesn't it seem we've been scared forever?" page 37 "Jim, you're wrong. We were meant to do this. This is exactly what we've been waiting for. They've chosen us. Of all people! Us! (...) Jesus, Jim, take a look at my life! You know what I'm worth! To anyone? Zero! Nothing! I'm a fat loser and will always be a fat loser. Until this. This is like a present. Full of, man, I don't know. Hope?..." page 196 (talking about trollhunting here btw) Oh yeah and book Tobias gets this badass scene where he uses his dentist's tool to kill trolls I loved that   Now series Tobias is way different :'D first up his name is Tobias Domzalski and his nicknames are Toby and Tobes. He is way shorter and has more neat hair (what is it with the series neating up the hair :'D? x'D). He also seems way cheerier and pretty happy with his place in life more or less  Unlike Tub, Toby is in it from the start being an important player in the story   He doesn't have the same drive to be something more than he is as Tub has instead Toby is going with the flow starting out quite afraid of everything troll and ended up being as brave as the rest of the team *tbh Jim's scared out of his wits too so they mimic each other x'D* Where Tub has dentist tools Toby gets a badass hammer so I'll say its an upgrade  

Claire

First off we have Claire Fontaine, a foreign student from no other than Scotland with a taste for military clothing and liqourice   Here's how she's described in the book   "She tucked her long dark hair behind her ear and left ir with an adorable smudge of white dust. I thought she was beautiful, though she wasn't in the classic sense. The popular girl would say she wasn't skinny enough. They would also point to the fact that she didn't wear makeup or do anything to tame that hair. And her clothes -well, what could be said about her clothes? Her boots were not sexy and knee-high: in fact, they were ankle-high and rubber-soled and looked picked from military surplus racks, an array of pea-green coats and multi-coloured slacks, all of which looked as if they'd been through actual World War II combat. And that beret she wore before and after school wasn't of the look-at-me-I'm Frensh variety: it was more in the style of I'm-going-to-invade-your-country-and-be-your-new-dictator. Only one thing didn't make sense: that bright pink, exceedingly girlish backpack that inexplicably hadn't one anti-establidh patch sewn onto it (...) Oh, I forgot to mention that Claire Fontain came from the UK. That's right- the girl had an accent. I think you are starting to get the picture." page 30-1 The bold passages is added by me It is hinted at that Claire is quite tall and a great deal taller than Jim (more when I get to him) and she is actually a whole year older than Jim since they both have birthday May 2 but Claire is 16 while Jim is 15  Since Trollhunters in this story is not a "protected title" (aka the chosen hero type) Claire ends up being one herself even though nobody even herself didn't know: AND. SHE. KICKS. BUTT! She's even better than the guy that had 40+ years experience so yeah safe to say she's badass :'D Even before that she has a hilarious scene calling out Steve in the wildest shitstorm of Scottish slang I lived for it x'D She's described quite a few times with lots of bracelets, sometimes made of wire so I gave her a bit of both   She's not really a part of the popular group but has her own thing going on   Now onto Claire Nuñez the series' version of this badass   Here Claire is hispanic and pretty much one of the most popular girls seen around  her style is way more ... I've called it punk rock in purple but Idk exactly what to call it x'D she's shorter than Jim and slimmer looking than her book counterpart   She enters the story not as a trollhunter but as a victim of having her brother stolen by changelings and as time progresses she becomes a fastlearning and quite competent sorcerer dealing in shadow magic   Unlike Fontaine, Nuñes is seen wearing make up, shorter hair with dye in it and hair clips instead of bracelets  

Jim 

First up we have book Jim. His full name is James Sturges Jr. and lives with his single parent, his dad, after his mother went away the day before his birthday in start May and never returned. Sturges Sr. had been traumatized loosing his brother to trolls although none of the characters didn't know this yet - only Senior had seen the creatures making him paranoid and in turn making Jim very embarrased about his father. At the same time Jim seems to honestly worry for his father and his behavior too makes Jim very cautious and fearful a character. Book Jim is pretty much a typical teenager for the most part  He is seen to be a tad clumsy and not exactly brave really. And the author's choice of basically not describing him anywhere made my job way harder trying to be book accurate :'D So I've mostly inspired him of the official illustrations in the book   Here's what I could find about our little trollhunter   First off: he's a short fellow  that is first mentioned on page 14; "Sunshine is important for growing boys." (...) "I am not growing" I took after my dad when it came to size and was still waiting for that growth spurt everyone kept raving about. "In fact I think I'm shrinking." This is brought up most of everything Jim through the movie from him not being able to reach a point of a chalkboard (page 32) to people's dissapointing sighs taking meassurements when he is chosen as Romeo (107) and him wearing super high heels for the same reason (224) but also Blinky directly calling him a "little fellow" (page 127) On page 27 we learn that he is getting a bruise on his chin after being slammed into his locker by Steve  Lockers he has been thrown into enough to have learned to open them on the inside :'D He is a skinny fella which Tobias so politely call "lack of muscletone" due to "glandular" at page 120 He is not very good at anything describing his room full of stuff from hobbies he tried and failed at (page 63) The longest describtion about his appearance is probably page 105: "I lowered my eyes and regarded the chewed, dirty fingernails holding my script, thes scuffed shoes on my feet, and realized that these were the symbols of my pityful life: worn-out, insignificant, ready to be thrown beneath Dad's industrial mower" It pretty much says it all when this is the longest quite I could find :'D For the outfit I mostly went by the small describtion on page 89-90: "I tucked the medallion beneath my shirt. After a full day of wearing it, maybe the rest of the suffocating fear would go away too. My plan was to dart into the kitchen, grab my sweatshirt and be out of the house. " I added jeans since he is said to wear jeans on page 283 - the medallion sneak out beneath the sweatshirt/shirt on page 97 which is why I added it on top here as well   Now since there's a bit more to both versions of Jim due to their role as the protagonist I've added in a little extra features here being the medallion in the book vs the amulet in the series and the weaponry given to the characters   For Sturges we have the medallion who's described like this: "It was a bronze medallion conntected to a rusty chain. It was engraved with a foreboding crest: a hideous, snarling face; indecipherable markings of a sevage language, and a magnificent long-sword across the bottom." page 9 The medallion is treated like it is a common artefact if a bit rare in the book - its purpose is to translate trollspeak for the wearer. Jim is giving two swords in the book; a rusty longsword he calls Clairesword (do I need to explain this one?) and a cutlass he calls Cat #6 after the one cat at Tobias' house that liked Jim  x'D For Sturges' personality my feeling about him is that he is a bit more ... passive than his series counterpart. He is not really standing up for himself that much and would rather blend into the background. This qoute from Claire sums him up pretty nicely I believe   "You're a good person, Mr. Sturges. A bit gloomy, but good" page 246 I do like that Jim in this version is a Taurus  (I am a taurus too x'D) born on May 2nd so that's a plus   It is probably also worth mentioning that in this world trollhunters aren't a chosen hero type like in the series: trollhunters or paladin was once a title held by many warriors yet now there's very few left. Sturges was a proud paladin family making Jim a chosen candidate for the honor of becoming a trollhunter but he is not the only one - or even the best - in the book. In fact out of the three trollhunters we learn about I'll say Jim is the weakest (and he is not even the least trained; ouch :'D) Jim doesn't get a nice armour like his series counterpart either but is seen in the illustrations wearing a blue hoodie (like the one in the little doodle)   The full name of Jim in the series is James Lake Jr. He is the child of a single parent and lives with his mother whom Jim "mothers a lot" (Tobias' words in the first episode) This Jim is pretty "tall for his age" (Jim's own words uttered quite a few times across all three series) yet with quite skinny legs (he is called out for this by multiple characters). He is much more competent in life than his book counterpart being an exceptional cook, good at Spanish, seemingly alright in PE and at school he seems to stand pretty good if only holding himself back. Unlike book Jim, series Jim seems much more active and longing to be something more than he is - he is seen to be quite brave and protective of his friends, very kind and selfless. Also even from the start he seems much more nimble than his book counterpart being able to climb the robe (a feat book Jim didn't do before later) and with his training as trollhunter he becomes even more badass   Trollhunter status in the series is way more important since the title is given to only one chosen warrior of Merlin chosen by the amulet of daylight (the medallion in the book). This also makes the amulet way more special and important in the series which probably explains its shine up from rusty bronze thing to silver and blue. While Lake Jr doesn't have named sword he does have a magical armour and sword made of daylight   We do not know the exact birthday of Lake Jr but the creators have replied to a fanquestion saying it would be around fall especially October so by that estimate Jim is probably a scorpio  pretty far from the before mentioned taurus in the book   While Jim Lake Jr isn't seen with long lasting bruises in the original series he does get two more permanent scars in Wizards

This one first, because it's simpler: this is just a lil epilogue to the Little Mermaid/Shadow Over Innsmouth mashup nobody except @/nicnacsnonsense asked for, only from Crowley's point of view. It starts with the sentence "It was a funny thing, getting everything you ever wanted."

I have been thinking about this one since 2020! It is a human AU, and it is a college-aged AU, which look I know how out of character that is for me, but it's based on events which happened to me in college, and I'm not really sure it works with everyone middle-aged.

See, there was this Cold Stone Creamery (it turned into a Pita Pit ages ago, and as of the most recent Google Maps street view, it was... ......a creperie oh my gosh that's hilarious), just across Indiana Avenue from an IU Bloomington bus stop. I liked to go there. Some of the employees were neat! Somehow I ended up in a running gag with one of them where each time I visited he would hide a gummy bear (always the same color) in my Birthday Cake Remix (you guys I seriously loved the Birthday Cake Remix). One time he called me his best customer friend; one other time, housemate and I were both in line together, and housemate said afterwards that he thought Cold Stone Guy was timing it so that he'd be sure he was the currently-available employee when it was my turn to order. Despite all this and having a class with him the very next semester, I never actually made for-realsies friends with him, because I am the worst at human interaction ever.

I also kept going "wait, is he flirting with me? is this what that looks like? no, that's impossible, nobody has ever been interested in me like that without spending months getting to know me online first before they ever actually see what I look like; I don't know this guy anywhere BUT offline. arrrgh I need a cheat sheet someone tell me what is going onnnnnn."

So this is that, but with Aziraphale as the customer, and Crowley is definitely flirting with him. Eventually they will kiss.

If Krel and Toby went to Camelot with the others (like they SHOULD have)

Krel: 

He would have fallen into Camelot with his serrator cause he always has it with him so he thankfully won’t have to worry about his A5 form being exposed.

Douxie would introduce him to Arthur as “Krel from the House of Tarron” obviously but I feel like it should be mentioned 

since everyone got paired up with people that were relevant to them or their character (Doux with Merlin, Jim with Deya, Claire with Morgana, Steve with Lancelot) I feel like Krel would have found himself with a team of alchemists. 

like I imagine the team walking through the castle and Krel just seeing these alchemists in like their late 20s early 30s through an open door and be in complete awe of them that he would just wander into their lab and the alchemists would just be like “welp guess this kid is our new apprentice” and they just take him under their wing.

They would ask him “you dont look from around here, where you from?” (Since he’s brown and and has a latino accent) and he would be like “….Cantaloupia…….?" and they would be like "hmmmmmmmoKAY!!!”

at some point the Camelot trio Doux, Claire and Steve are just like “hey where’d Krel go?” and it would cut to like a scene where he’s like blowing something up with the alchemists with the biggest smile on his face and like “WOOO!!!!!”

They give him a set of these potion holsters full of different potions and chemicals and powders for on-the-go alchemy and he gets SO EXCITED (yes I use pinterest)

Like the Camelot trio + Toby would just be chilling in their room trying to figure out how to fix the timeline and Krel would just burst into the room like “GUYS LOOK WHAT I GOT!!!!!!!!” like the nerd he is

He and Toby get distracted with the cool stuff Krel can do with his potions while Douxie and Claire just look at them like tired parents like

Douxie and Claire: “gUYS we still have to fix the timeline and save Jim!!!

Krel: yeah but watch this! *does some alchemy*

Toby: SOCOOLSOCOOLSOCOOLSOCOOL!!!!

Douxie and Claire: *looks into the pretend camera like they’re on the Office*

He would help Arcadia Douxie set up traps all over Camelot 

During the Battle of Killahead, Krel would be like Honey Lemon in Big Hero Six and come up with the perfect solution with his potions to attack the GummGumms on the spot

He would be really proud of himself and like mid battle after he successfully took down a GummGumm he would just be like "WOOHOO Check me out!” And the just gets whacked in the head again (cause this is Krel we’re talking about.)

This is completely irrelevant PONYTAIL KREL. I need it and this would be the perfect time for it

so anyway,

he would absolutely marvel at the sight of Douxie’s spellcaster guitar just like he and Aja did when they saw Jim’s armor. 

Douxie: *uses his guitar in battle*

Krel: Is that your staff???? I want one!!!!!! How do I get one???

Claire: Focus Krel!!!!

I just feel like that would happen at some point anyway cause, it’s really cool?! I think we didn’t see it happen is cause there was no time for it to happen in the actual show but it would totally happen at some point

Saying goodbye to the alchemists would prolly be like, “I’m guessing you want these (the potion holsters) back, huh?” And the alchemists are just like, “umm, you can definitely keep them kid??? You’re really good at this!!! We’re glad you were our apprentice!” And Krel is just like “:D :D :D :D!!!!!!!!”

so obviously he fell in with his warhammer cause it doesn’t go anywhere without it.

Douxie would introduce him as “Tobias of Domslaskia”, again I just feel like it should be mentioned

I want to say that he would have gotten paired up with Arthur because Jim and Arthur parallels and Arthur is the last major Camelot character that doesn’t have an Arcadian pair, but, knowing how the TOA writing team treat Toby as a character he’d prolly just be like a stable boy or the knights’ water boy or something (sucks I know) 

so like they’d all be in front of Arthur for the first time while Arthur is assigning everyone to their mentor and Toby’s like “pleasebeaknightpleasebeaknightpleasbeaknight” and Arthur’s just like “You, robust one, follow sir Lancelot, he’ll take you to the washroom. You’ll be cleaning up after they finish practicing” and Toby’s like “what??? Why can’t I be a knight too???” and he just gets pulled along.

All the knights marvel at his “metal teeth” just like Krel and Aja did when they first saw his braces

Toby would be ready to throw hands with anyone who tries to put their hands on Jim. Claire and Douxie have to physically restrain him from hurling his warhammer into Arthur’s face during one of the many times he tries to kill Jim

since Toby is just assigned as a servant boy, he can easily sneak into the dungeon to see Jim. He’s the team’s connection to Jim while he’s locked in the dungeon 

He would have gone with Jim after the dungeon break. Jim and Claire are saying their goodbyes and Toby’s like “Dont worry Claire, ol’ Warhammer will take care of him” and just goes with him despite everyones protests because he loves his best friend and wont let him leave on another adventure without him again. Claire went with him the New Jersey, now it’s his turn to go with Jim

Deya would be like “who’s this?” And before Jim can answer Toby just goes “His best friend in the whole wide world!!!!” And Deya would just be like “a human and a Troll? Friends? Now that’s a first.” And Jim would show her the pictures of them in Arcadia

Toby would see Arrrgh in Dwoza and immediately try to connect with him calling him Wingman, forgetting that this is GummGumm! Arrrgh then get sad because he misses Arcadia Arrrgh.

He would call of our trolls by their name and the trolls would get like so confused

Toby: yo my girl Bagdwella what’s good?!!!

Bagdwella: ????How does this human know my name???????

Toby: Draal! I’ve missed you!! *hugs him*

Draal: why is this human child touching me????

For the rest of it I just believe that it would be them catching up cause they’re best bros and yeah Jim loves Claire but he needs bro time with Toby again.

During the battle of Killahead he goes absolutely feral with his warhammer and kicks ass like the king that he is

He comforts Steve when Lancelot dies (because Steve deserves to mourn his father figure DAMMIT)

He also protests going back to the present without finding a way to save Jim from the shard with Claire because they both love best boy and are tired of seeing him suffer alone.
