no one ever talks about disgust/dislike as a tool of analysis. either it's a dangerous instinct that, if given into, will surely lead directly down the path of censorship and witch hunts, or a moral guide that must be acted on without question. but the thing is, disgust, like every other emotional response a person can have, can and should be analyzed. you don't like something? it feels instinctively, intuitively repulsive to you? okay, why? what does that dislike feel like in your body? what does it remind you of? what connections can you draw between the thing that triggered your dislike and other things that have triggered similar reactions? did the context you experienced the thing in have anything to do with your dislike? what do you think it says about you as a person that you're uncomfortable with this specific thing?

if you looked into why you don't like something and at the end of it all you still don't like it, then congratulations! you've learned something new about yourself! if you've looked into why you don't like something and you've figured out that the thing is fine, actually, and your initial panic response wasn't actually as valid as it felt at the time, then congratulations! you've learned something new about yourself! dislike is a teacher that should be learned from but not heeded uncritically, and it can often teach you more about you than about the thing you're reacting to.

please, learn how to learn from unpleasant experiences instead of either avoiding them completely or weaponizing the feelings they give you. a wholly pleasant life is no life at all.

Hello all. It is Sage once more.

The wedding's come and gone, and the happy couple have been...'celebrating' in their tent for quite some time now.

Things have been quite quiet in the carnival lately, it's funny, I've gotten quite used to the madness around here, the silence is almost jarring.

But less performances means more time with my children, and more time to learn about myself. This blessing of mine, it makes my body full to bursting with nature magic, it's truly fascinating.

This beautiful synergy between feeling like myself, and like my body's not my own. Even with magic, being a living hive such as I am feels like a miracle. I couldn't be more grateful - and I'm glad to be around others that have found such meaning in their oddities.
