[[ The more I think about "RPC Positivity" I come to the same conclusion: We have more than plenty of it, no one's opposed to spreading more positivity. Being against it sounds wildly counterintuitive. But while it can cheer people up in the moment, it can also kind of just turn into vague lovebombing. And then we go back to whatever norms and biases we've got going on.

Are we looking at each other's writing styles and determining if we can mesh-- or do we assume every single person will just give us exactly what we want without testing the waters and recognizing boundaries first? Is there room to have a voice: to disagree and offer alternatives OOC, be it in 1-on-1 or in a group chat?

Where do we draw the line between taking inspiration and just scavenging? What criteria leads us to determine one person is a blatant rip-off while another is genuinely exploring pastiche, parody, or other interpretative style? This goes for both canons AND OCs. Nearly every concept has been done over a trillion times by now, it's a matter of how particular details are played out by each creator. Like. Those are just a couple of things I was thinking about lately. Because if we in the RPC don't notice and try to change things where we can, we end up just talking about how great something could theoretically be instead of fostering it when it actually happens.
