The thing about Bells Hells is that asking their opinion on anything is like setting up a political survey at a rave under a bridge or in some sort of especially niche genre specific goth club or backstage at an off-off Broadway conceptual show; you’re going to get really interesting answers! They are not going to be representative of the general population in the slightest. There is a faction of people who think we need to solve this by introducing one Designated Average Relationship With The Universe Dave to the polling sample, ruining their beautiful natural diversity of guys-who-could-be-in-the-musical-RENT. To which the wise man says: “Never!” This is the little freaks with half baked philosophies and unresolved personal issues party. More pressingly, it has been noted that Bells Hells doesn’t seem to realize that their relationship with power writ large is bafflingly different from the average Exandrian. This is an problem, but it’s one that could be in-character, one more extension of an admirable commitment to trauma-informed alarming theological opinions.

finally watched arcane 2 and i think now is as good a time as any to say that i don’t see jayvik as explicitly romantic or platonic. i certainly don’t see them as Familial, either, but definitely like a secret third option that goes beyond traditional perceptions of platonic or romantic relationships. soulmates if you will. i think they’re something undefinable by regular societal labels. this might be partly due to me being aroace and my subsequent frustration with the idea that the “only explanation” for a certain level of devotion and affection people can have for each other is that they’re romantically and/or sexually involved, or that special bonds of trust and care like theirs is exclusive to a romantic relationship, but this is how i see them personally. i 100% understand seeing them as romantic and don’t have any problem with that— in fact i actively encourage it— but in my heart and my own read of them, they just love each other and it doesn’t have to be “only explanable” with romantic or sexual attraction or whatever. it’s just undeniable love and it doesn’t need to be more complicated than that.
