id lovee to hear ur rankings of the comic book men from appearing to be the most normal to something is obviously wrong w them (if that makes sense... like,,,, who is and isnt an obv red flag)
ur writing keeps me fed :3
𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐌𝐄𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐆𝐒…
!!! GN reader, manipulation, gaslighting, mentions of stalker-ish picture-taking, mentions of schizophrenia and anxiety, poor treatment of mental illness, mentions of violent behaviors, murderous Bucky Barnes, Tim Drake (he’s just a problem), mentions of suicidal tendencies, can be translated as platonic or romantic.
EAAAAATT!!!!! EEEEAAAAATTTT!!!!!!!!! EAT MY WRITING!!!! CONSUME IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember, this is from least to most, meaning we’ll talk about the seemingly well-adjusted folks first and gradually move up to the, “okay, what the fuck is wrong with him” peeps.
Wally West: The way he’s playing everyone like a fiddle is downright disrespectful. He’s filled to the brim with green flags, easily appearing as one of the safest guys on the planet. Even when you start to suspect something, you have to constantly second guess yourself, because come on… it’s Wally. What the fuck can he do wrong? Don’t even bother voicing any of your concerns. No one — and I mean no one — will believe you. Having problems with Wally West? The embodiment of a warm summer evening? Damn, that sounds like a you problem. Poor Wally, having to deal with a crazy weirdo.
Dick Grayson: He’s got an amazing personality and pretty privilege working for him. At this rate, the masses manipulate themselves. Only those who are extremely perceptive will pick up on the cold glint in his eyes, and even then, the mystique only adds to his charm. By the time you realize he’s been hiding a darker side, it’s too late. Everyone’s too captivated by how endearing Dick is to hear you out. Even those who know him personally — who know about his struggles and rough patches — think you’re full of shit. Dick’s an emotionally mature man, so why don’t you just talk it out with him?
Steve Rogers: This is a bit unfair, considering the leverage he’s granted as Captain America, but hey… work what you got. While it may seem obvious to you that he’s way too overbearing and protective, good luck trying to get other people on your side. Everyone else thinks it’s a part of his 40s charm. Social norms were just different back then; why can’t you be more appreciative of his old-fashioned care? Besides, you’re probably overreacting. Is it really that bad? Steve is the leader of the Avengers, so maybe you’re just taking his authoritative demeanor the wrong way.
Clark Kent: I’m gonna be so for real, any man from a fuckass state like Kansas is going to come with some personality quirks. People will probably give him the benefit of the doubt by default. Just a farm boy trying to navigate the big city and can’t even hurt a fly. Sure, he can be odd at times, but nothing makes him an inherently bad guy. This is the same man that helps old people cross the street, for god’s sake! He most definitely means well, it’s just a matter of setting boundaries with him. What’s the worst he can do?
Remy LeBeau: Despite what differing opinions may say about The Gambit, Remy seems like he’s got his head on his shoulders. His “red flags” are more on the blurry side. Do you count excessive flirting as a red flag? What about hiding behind charisma and a fake ego instead of going to therapy? Some people may say yes, others no. But in terms of glaring red flags, Remy’s relatively clean. We’ve all got our issues, no? Being a thief doesn’t make you a psycho. That being said, due to Remy’s shifty past, people may be more inclined to listen should you ever express that something’s wrong.
Peter Parker: Honestly… he’s a bit of a weirdo. Nothing obvious at first, but the longer you know him, the more behaviors you may pick up on that make you go, “oh… well… that’s weird”. Take his Polaroid obsession, for example. He’s got at least one photo in every jacket pocket, dozens in his wallet, and a fuck ton in his desk. Poor guy accidentally spilled them all over the ground once, which naturally sparked rumors. But Peter’s a sweetheart. Clingy, but still a sweetheart. Maybe he’s just a little messed up due to everything he’s lost in his life.
Bruce Wayne: Okay. Red flags in the playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne? Absolutely unheard of. He’s an absolute angel. According to all of the stan accounts out there, he could do nothing wrong. But red flags in the real Bruce Wayne? Where do we even begin. Distrusting as fuck, paranoid, argumentative, the occasional fit of violence, a known manipulator and liar… want me to keep going, because I can. It’s very hard to rank Bruce due to the ginormous contrast between general public opinion and those who actually know him, so he goes smack in the middle. Billionaire Bruce Wayne would never be a horrible person to you, but the real Bruce Wayne 100% would.
Jaime Reyes: Because of how mental illness is stigmatized, Jaime’s unfortunately labeled to be dangerous. But it’s not really his fault. That damn scarab has him muttering to himself like a crackhead, and naturally assumptions will be made. When actually given a chance, people will learn that Jaime’s a nice kid. He just probably struggles with schizophrenia or really bad anxiety. Yes, his paranoia can get bad, but again; mental illness. He’s never proven himself to a threat, despite what others may think. He just needs help (but there’s no way to combat the manipulation of Khaji Da. Jaime lost that battle the moment he became Blue Beetle).
Hal Jordan: Oh, yeah. He’s got red flags alright. But they’re mostly normal ones, like his ego and horrendous stubborn streak. Lots of guys out there are like that, and are they considered freaks? No. Well, not all of them. However, it is a bit concerning that he’s willing to throw hands at the drop of a hat. Bro’s one major freak out away from catching assault charges like they’re Pokémon. But if it’s any consolation, it should be noted that he hasn’t gotten into major legal trouble. On Earth. Yet. Some call him rough around the edges, others call him a severely troubled individual. Either way, he definitely needs to seek professional help.
Scott Summers: MAJOR red flags. He’s an overbearing control freak that really needs to work on his… well… his everything. Emotional intelligence, temper, daddy issues… yeah, no. He’s an amazing leader, but probably someone you should steer clear from otherwise. Most wouldn’t be surprised if you two were having issues. It’s not like he wears all of his problems on his sleeve; the iceberg goes much deeper than that. Though he sure as hell doesn’t present himself as a well-adjusted member of society. Proceed at your own risk. Don’t say you weren’t warned, because you probably were.
Bucky Barnes: This is the opposite of Captain America’s case. His reputation as the Winter Soldier kind of skews the perception of him to be a walking red flag. And you know, he really is. Bucky is extremely dangerous. Down to snap necks anytime, anywhere, no amount of charm or endearing quirks will make people feel fully safe around him. His history of violence did not stop post-brainwashing. And it’s not like he’s hiding it, either. There’s this crazed gleam in his eyes that just screams “fuck around and find out,” no matter what his mood is. Who in their right mind would involve themself with THE Winter Soldier?! Yeah, no shit you’re having issues with him. He is an issue.
Tim Drake: Bro is the epitome of “you’re scaring the hoes.” He could be walking down the street — face neutral, hands in his pockets — and total strangers will get the sense that something is deeply wrong with him. The aura around him exudes the reddest of flags. Yes, his face and intelligence are attractive, but even those who have fallen for his pretty boy swag can’t help but sigh dreamily and think, “he really needs to be institutionalized.” Disturbing humor. Creepy staring. Mood swings. Suicidal tendencies. Sadomasochism to the max. The list goes on and on and on. If Dead Dove: Do Not Eat was a person, it’d be him. What were you expecting? It’s Tim fucking Drake.

Haven’t seen enough people talking about why timebomb and specifically ekko also suffered from arcane s2 being bad. Spoilers and crit
I’ll say more in depth later when I have gone back and revisited it with a clearer head and let me make it entirely clear I LIKE timebomb in concept. Much like caitvi. Like I see the vision I just don’t like a lot of the creative choices
Ekko in s1 was a REVOLUTIONARY he built the firelights w his own two hands and was sort of a foil to jinx and silco, he hated them but he wasn’t going to roll over to piltover either. He wanted independence but not through exploitation. He was a leader and a caretaker and mature beyond his years bc he was forced to be. And he hates Jinx bc she reminds him of that trauma and he’s betrayed by what she became like there’s SO much there look at it
In s2 he goes “hm my tree is being weird” and then gets sucked into the timey wimey thing and disappears for a whole act and the firelights aren’t even MENTIONED (and ik he wasn’t a major character in s1 either but like, he was still important and relevant to the plot throughout bc of the firelights?)
Then he gets sucked into this au portal (cool concept and cool execution) and falls in love with powder or whatever. And she ISNT JINX. SHE IS NOT THE JINX WE KNOW BC JINX IN MAIN TIMELINE IS FULLY BUILT FROM HER EXPERIENCES AND TRAUMA AND MENTAL ILLNESS. Like what Jayce said to viktor that’s part of her whether it hurts her or not. Her trauma doesn’t define her but it’s a part of her! And then all of a sudden Ekko’s sad bc he misses jinx (who iirc last time he met they had the whole I hate you and I miss you talk and they fought and both thought the other dead or whatever?) and then he’s talking her off the ledge even though he has absolutely no reason to! Because he DOESNT KNOW HER he knows literally nothing she’s done since s1 finale!!! Even the jinx as a symbol for revolution” stuff from act 1 that went nowhere he would know NOTHING ABOUT bc he basically immediately went to Jayce? And they never did the revolutionary jinx stuff that was implied w the flag waving either so there’s no connection there either
Like a full episode was spent developing timebomb and it was interesting but also contributed nothing bc that is not jinx. She just feels like a mpdg and he doesn’t feel like ekko bc he needs to be in love w her for the plot? So they do absolutely nothing interesting they could for timebomb and still make it the entirety of ekko’s plot while tossing out the firelights and the zaun v. Piltover plotline as a whole
i mean again its hard to say bc this is right. objectively. like the stuff w timebomb was objectively well written. i just feel like it doesnt give ekko the space to be his own character outside of the ship? my point isnt that the stuff was poorly written i actually enjoyed it a lot and i think they did a good job w it i just also feel like it does ekko a disservice to have that be his only plotline and how it doesnt feel like it connects to his character in s1
i feel similarly about other plots in s2, like mel's. like yes this is good stuff! i love seeing mel in the spotlight the black rose magic stuff is interesting in a vacuum but also its totally separate from the interesting thematic roles in s1 that dealt with AGAIN THE CLASS CONFLICT AND POLITICS and dropping that for something different feels. like its a disservice to the characters, i guess?
also by having the timebomb development take place primarily in an au with powder and NOT jinx we dont really get to see jinx's thoughts at all. it feels like a repeat of s1 where someone is trying to save POWDER and not jinx, they dont see her as who she is now but rather who she was or could have been. which couldve been interesting to explore but they clearly werent interested in that ANYWAYS
#tidethought#arcane critical#anti timebomb#<- not actually I like them in concept I just think s2 was bad and s2 being bad impacted them#If this shows up in main tags I’m SO sorry not my intent

Another reason why peri has problems with dev.
A lot of people already mentioned peris Lack of experience, his good relationship with his parents and the babying which leads to dev not treating peri nice.
But i want to add one more thing which a lot of people dont take actually in Account. And that is that dev is the first Person peri ever met who was younger than him and its been a long time since he met someone close to his own age, making him socially indept. After all peri is the only fairy born in a tousand years. With the closed fairy in age beeing his dad.
If we go with timmy, peri had someone close to his age until he was 6-8. Than cosmo and wanda quit and moved to fairy world. There we know that no humans are allowed and that other species dont really live there. So peri is the only kid in the entire world.
Could have peri have at least had friends from other species ? Humans, pixys, anti-fairys are out. But maybe he made friends in school.
I think the school we say is one of many and as people grow older they go into seperate school. I am no Expert in fairly oddparents but i know we saw cosmo at least two times in school. One where mama cosma showed him around 6 years old in a Montage and one where we saw cosmo old school bullys. What both have in Common is that there where only fairys around. Which makes sence to put all species together to learn reading, math, etc and than seperate because they have different powers, cultures, body, historys, etc. So peri ( and irep ) would start eather homeschooling or continue to learn in an completly empty school with no other students besides himself. Considering cosmo and wanda lack of some knowledge i can see him going to school ( irep can learn from anti cosmo ).
The godparent school is the one where i am 100 % sure that peri was in an empty school. Not only did cosmo and wanda didnt know he was studying and becoming an godparent, but no other species is allowed to take this curse.
Meaning peri had one older kid in timmy only until he was 6-8 and some clasmates the same age as his until maybe 5 and than spent the Rest of his years in a world where every other Person was an adult.
Peri only worked with people much more mature than him. That is why he never expects that some things children do are stupid and they will not say what they need. Dev will just demand things and not tell him what he really needs because figuring out your Problem and beeing mature enough to find an answer or at least be able to pinpount where it cames from is not a ten year old skill. Cosmo and wanda talked to timmy about his problems and where able to get to his problems by reading between the lines if he didnt want to outride tell them what upset him or didnt know himself why he was mad. Peri expects dev to be able to tell him what he needs, which is not a skill neglected kids have and beeing able to read such Moods require experience which younger or at least closed aged people. If you never had friends you will be socially indept.
In short peri treats dev like an adult. He explains things outride and expects dev to understand and is lost if dev isnt capable of explaining his anger to him. So he cant know what dev is thinking or how to treat a child in general.
Peri never had a real childhood or close friends. He only had his parents which is great in Forming bonds with adults but takes away his ability to Adapt to younger or even same aged people.
That can also be why he hates beeing babyed. If you are the only child with a Buch of adults you will want to be an adult just so you could fit in somewhere. Showing himself more mature than he actually is and even hiding some of his childness ( like hazel did ). Except peri did this forever. Quiet sad actually. Thank god his parents are such goofy people, showing him it is okay to keep some childishness even as you grow up. Otherwise peri would never been allowed to even act like a child.

I find it funny that teens focus on dating at this age you’re not even fully developed, no one really loves one another they’re just infatuated news flash teens change they’re growing trying to find themself they’ll make mistakes along the way. But it’s foolish to think you’d find love especially at this age you’re inlove with the idea of being with them but don’t even know what actually comes with being in a real relationship. Brain is fully developed by 25 try again then. It’s a shame to see girls lose themself over a “Man” that would never love them the way they want. Why keep setting yourself up for failure. No one at this stages is truly mature for a relationship
i find it insane how you think you know me irl or know me the way my mutuals do. i would never and have never lost myself to a man.
having a mutual connection with someone isnt my main focus, it’s nice to have on the side. my main focus at the moment is finishing high school and getting into college. i am not “in love with the idea of being with them” and i am aware of what comes along with relationships, considering i’ve been in a few relationships and have different encounters with men.
this encounter with a guy was actually a good one, flaws and problems came along and things didn’t work out, which is fine by me. no matter the age, guys want to “play pretend” as you mentioned in ur other ask that you set me. (lol because you’re getting obsessed now)
now seriously, i’d appreciate it if you stopped sending me asks about me and my status. and to assume that i lost myself over a man. because that is not what happened at all. you don’t know me, you don’t know him.

i think this one line actually does a lot for showing us how rocky ggy trios group is.
a lot of ppls first impressions while reading GGY are "wow, ellis and gregory are really bad friends. they just shrug off all Tonys interests and make him do everything on his own." and that is true and is a big part of their relationships
but also this line i think shows us blatantly how Tony is in the wrong too. yeah, Ellis and Gregory (though he gets a pass. hes literally being mind controlled) make Tony feel like they dont care about his interests and are fine with him running off and wont care if hes gone, and they'll change his work without caring about how he feels about it,
But to be fair, Tony is always so in his head about everything, and he has never mentioned telling his friends about these issues to fix them. Tony, in always being so focused on his internal monologuing and whatever obsession of the week hes found, never bothers to tell his friends how he feels about the things he doesnt like that they do.
so of course ellis and gregory would have no idea.
this line also applies to what i said. "tony hates that they always assume he'll do the work" but then he does all the work with no complaining. he never says that he doesnt like that, and on top of that he does exactly what ellis thinks he'll do.
Ellis is basically saying that Tony always runs off without them to do something himself. Tony is always so in his own head, he doesnt wait for his friends if they want to put off the story another day, and will go off without them every time.
of course Ellis is in thr wrong too, but i would also be annoyed if my friend ran off first hour for a 'group' project just to get it done faster without them. and it seems from Ellis' experience, he doesnt bother trying to join in later becasue by that time Tony already has a whole thing gotten into his brain that Ellis isnt included in (which is literally true. tony did do that in the book)
i wouldnt be suprised if Ellis (and gregory) changed GGY because its like a way of getting back at Tony. Ellis is frustrated with how he'll run off and start the story without him and then turn around and get mad when he isnt involved with its creation, so he just does this. immature? yeah. but Ellis is 12 and Tony is also 12 but tries so hard to be older.
and that makes him distance himslef from Ellis canonically. he talks about how hes frustrated with how Ellis is content to stay acting his age but Tony is starting to 'grow up', and he wonders how much longer they'll be friends. but with this in mind and how Tony handles conflicts with his friends its kinda clear that wow he is not mature enough to actually work through these issues
Tony gets defensive a lot of the time, and if Ellis challenged him and confronted Tony and talked about how he never tells them these things and gets mad when they arent mind readers like Tony believes himself is, Tony would take that as ellis telling him hes immature (because he would be) and would get pissed
but back to the Mr Rabbit thing, all of this is shown in this one line. Tony also never listens to his friends or takes them seriously, and he distances himself from them (which he then gets mad about them not being involved over) and then doesnt care enough to get Gregorys num de plume right. (even if Mr. Rabbit was something petty to get back at gregory because of tonys frustrations, once again goes towards how tony is more immature than he thinks he is)
i have lots of thoughts about these three and how their relationships could work, but this is an analysis on their strictly book characters with no fanon. of course theres a lot of potential with these three if the events of the book go differently (gregory is never mind controlled and is actually there as himself to resolve these issues, or tony doesnt die in ggy and has a wake up call later on that he acts on and apologizes + changes, or gregory goes missing and tony survives and he changes as a person going through that (and when gregory comes back later on)), so i think resolving their relationship issues within different scenarios is really interesting
#sorry if this isnt said well my thoughts are jumbled#hope i got the point across#ive analyzed the hell out of ggy trio and how rocky their relationsip is#but that just makes them mending it that much more interesting#pandas.txt#pandas talks#thoughts#ggy trio#tony#gregory#ellis

How would Paris have turned out as a person if Sabina had somehow been able to get away (with Paris in tow) from Constantine, and Paris had been raised by his mom and her side of the family, without his dad's involvement? (This is assuming that Constantine somehow couldn't/doesn't go after them.)
augh :,) this answer got long sorry
cw for mentions of rape, domestic abuse, child abuse, familial whump, angst
whenever i think about any “Sabina Lives” AU i always picture it as her still being with Constantine at Thales and i have a pretty good idea of what Paris turns out like there — more conscientious, quieter. raised by his mom but w both of them still living in the same environment w their abuser.
ive never considered an AU where constantine is out of the picture!
i think. its going to be difficult. i imagine they leave at the same time sabina dies in canon, so paris would only be seven.
most of the explicit physical abuse between constantine and sabina tapers off after paris is born. i think by seven he understands that theyre not in love or anything but he doesnt understand that the relationship is abusive. so i dont think hes really going to understand why theyre leaving and sabina is not going to be able to explain it to him in a way thats age appropriate. she really doesnt want to explain it all actually!
this is why its difficult. like in any circumstance paris is just kind of a difficult kid because he has genuine issues w ADHD and mood swings that require a pretty high level of support. these are exacerbated in canon because of how constantine deals w them but they would be there either way. its going to be hard to explain to him why they left in a way that makes sense and so hes really going to interpret it as her having robbed him of being prince!
so in the beginning he’s actually more spoiled and entitled than he was in canon and acts out a lot. but he will adjust to it after he realizes that no amount of complaining will ever get sabina to take him back. and after enough time he also realizes that he isnt constantly holding tension in his body the way he did around constantine so maybe being away from him isnt actually that bad?
anyway he still laments his lost royalty a lot and will complain about it (has no idea how miserable he would have been) but he doesnt have a lot of trouble actually adjusting to provincial life. on the whole hes a lot happier to be around people who he doesnt constantly have to worry about using or backstabbing him. he has cousins in this one :)
once he’s thirteen, sabina tells him everything. he’s definitely a little young to be hearing the whole story but she thinks he can handle it and deserves some explanation for what happened in his early childhood and why her side of the family tends to view him a bit differently.*
Immediate guilt. This immediately recontextualizes Paris’s entire life and he feels really bad about having been so difficult w her about it before. He becomes a lot more protective of her after this and really hates his father. this is the kind of knowledge that basically permanently distinguishes you from other people your age so paris is going to be a bit more emotionally mature and empathetic. gets called an “old soul”. lol :(
but the overall answer is that he ends up a lot more mellow and probably more intelligent/empathetic.
*Selene is a bit cold to Paris in canon because he is Constantine’s son and he’s a product of rape. In canon she is more or less justified in viewing Paris as being like Constantine because he has perpetuated that same cycle of abuse against Delta and carried out the imperial will. But even if he hadn’t, she’d still feel negatively towards him. But this really only extends to Selene and a few other adults in the family. Selene’s kids are cool with him and she doesn’t prevent them from playing together. She just keeps an eye on Paris when they do.

Am I an asshole for making fun of someone’s name and interests but then apologizing? I (16M) recently became friends with some people in my lunch hour. They are Z (17NB), M (18NB) and K (17M). M is dating A (18FTM), who i have met twice and had maybe two brief convos with, and he seemed sweet at the time. However, A is friends with the whole group, so they all know him and talk about him. We have joked in the past about the fact that A has the same nickname as one of my other friends. For the sake of fake names, lets say the nickname is Alex. I refer to my friend as Alex and Z,M, and K all call their friend Alex too. However, one day i called my friend by his full name- again, fake name, but lets say- Alexander. M makes fun of my friends name, saying its a bad name. In retaliation I jokingly say ‘your partners name is worse!’. A’s full name is a different spelling of a rather nice name, for this lets say its Alexyus (like Alexis). I mention that i like the name alexis, just say “but who spells it with a y!”. I also add, “plus theyre literally a dsmp and homestuck fan!”. OKAY BEAR WITH ME! i will fully accept and admit that thus far i have been an asshole. It wasnt okay for M to make fun of my friends name, but it also wasnt okay for me to make fun of their partner.
Anyways- no one seemed too upset by it in the moment, but later when i got home i received messages from M, K, and A. M’s had some odd sort of long copy pasta which basically said i hope you suffer, but it felt like a joke to me so just responded withh “i aint reading all that”. K’s message was wild tho- he said “i was just hoping you would kill yourself, overdose, hang yourself, or even just cut ur wrists. what is wrong with you, you fing freak!”. which is… wow! After i read the message i saw him edit it to add a “/jay” (meaning joking) at the end, but the original message had no indication of it being a joke. However, i accepted it as a joke because…. Why would he tell me to kill myself lol…. Anyways, A’s message was polite and formal, asking to talk about something i said earlier at lunch (A isnt in our lunch, he wasnt there when i made the comment about his name, but i assume M or K told him). I respond equally politely and we had a good conversation about it, i realized that it wasnt at all my place to make thats jokes or poke fun at A in that way, and i apologized. A said it was all good and honestly i was impressed with their forgiveness and maturity. I hoped A and i could become potential friends in the future, even. I was still peeved that K literally told me to commit suicide, but whatever yknow. The next few days at lunch were awkward but my other friend, Z, and me mostly just didnt talk to M and K. At some point my other friend, who i told about this, mentioned to K kinda offhandedly like “yo it was kinda fucked up u told (me) to kill himself..” and K informed us that he actually didnt send the message, it was A on his phone. M corroborated this story and then we left, but i was honestly so shocked.
Now i dislike and feel uncomfortable around M, K and A (although not Z, who agreed that what the rest of them did was not okay), because to me it feels like they all were okay and agreement of the message. But ultimately i’m really conflicted- it was definitely wrong of me to make fun of A (even if it was not meant to be serious, i dont know A well enough to joke like that), but i feel like telling me to kms is unjustified. Maybe it all is stupid drama tho, and i should just let it go?
*** i forgot to add- if its worth noting, since A is trans, he chose his own name, and mentioned that was one of the reasons he was specifically upset. Should i have not made fun of his name because i know he chose it himself? (Idk if it matters but my friend alexander is also trans and chose his name too. Also i love him and his name to death so maybe thats why i was specifically defensive of it.) but anyways:
Am i the asshole? Are we all assholes?
What are these acronyms?

Hi I’d actually LOVE to hear more about the way you view Strollonso dynamic because a) the way you write about them makes ME feel insane and b) I am also attempting to write fic of these two and require all the references I can so I can feel at least marginally confident dipping my toes in rpf
Anyway keep being amazing and being awesome with your writings!! I hope we can all survive our parasocial relationship with this 20something rich white boy!!!
i have SO MUCH to say.
okay lets start off with their different instagram useage. lance hardly ever posts (averaging like 1 post a month) but nando on the other hand... (like 4 posts a week) so with this difference we get fernando mentioning and talking about and posting and praising lance and its so sweet because hes not doing it for lance to see hes doing it because he MEANS it.
then the fact that theyre so touchy for literally no reason and this isnt even new in 2017 (i believe) fernando was touching all up on lance after he got a podium and now that theyre teammates theres always some kind of contact going on (nando grabbing lances neck, arm, hands, hugging, etc.)
and yk i cant NOT mention the "happy you are not in alpine?" video because HELLO. the way lance walks over and grabs him straight away with a "yes, man" then when nando realizes its lance his whole face lights up. UGH. then when they hugged they were so close, lances lips practically against fernandos skin as he spoke like god get a rooommmmm... AND NANDOS HAND ON LANCES FACE? like he full on cupped lances cheek and the eye contact and smiles?? u dont do all this with a teammate u dont want to fuck.
then when nando won "overtake of the month" and told the woman interviewing him that he didnt vote for himself but for "this guy" (lance) like in what world are you VOTING for your TEAMMATE who in most cases is your biggest competition??
and back to their hugs, any time they hug its never a half assed side hug its always both arms tightly around eachother smiling talking chests pressed together like U DONT HUG JUST ANYONE THAT CLOSELY??
then when lance got p5 and nando got p3 (dont remember what race) and while celebrating with the team nando put a hand on his face again and one on his waist?? and people say they have a "father son dynamic" 😣
i posted abt this a while ago but them walking together is like my favourite thing ever because theyre so close and aware of eachother its like theyre two teenagers with a crush 😭 then ofc that video of nando waiting for lance because he was walking slow like ugh theyre so sweet
then we know lance obvi doesnt enjoy media much and usually has a poker face or is showing the person talking to him that he isnt enjoying the conversation but as soon as he sees fernando or he gets involved he has the biggest toothy grin on his face like i know your cheeks hurt after geeking over this man so much
and we're all aware that nando is practically known for being evil and mean and having big rivalries with his teammates (besides carlo they're my babies) but thats never been a problem with lance theyve genuinely always been just love and had this sweet bond and dynamic since before nando and lance even thought of joining aston and its beautiful
also i adore how they basically refuse to fight eachother or risk their relationship its so sweet and its a very unique thing to see because this is a sport and thats the whole point. from lance saying he wasnt going to fight because it was fernando and nando giving lance his brake information because he knew it would help it really shows just how mature they are and how in the end they value their relationship and their teams performance as a whole so they put that above fighting eachother.

sitting on more thoughts about Veilguard so spoilers under the cut
now a few days after beating it i keep coming back to the main issue i have with this game, in terms of missed potential. the thing about Veilguard isnt that there isnt mature writing, its just that its SO inconsistent. sometimes even inconsistent with its own lore, but primarily inconsistent with what the characters talk about vs what you actually experience in game. you can have really interesting discussions with Neve about the corrupt heart of Tevinter, slavery, all of it but you dont really see any of it. you only get a very filtered view of Dock Town, where yes there are huge class differences on display but not even a smidge of the ever present slavery and opression of other races by Tevinter Magisterium. some of it is brushed off in dialogue as war propaganda, but when you have a faction that is supposedly a resistance against slavery and all of these old practices, and you dont actually get to see what they are fighting against its just. so odd. (Crows are a whole other issue but at least with them you get a real sense of what they are fighting against with the occupation). Bellara's quest is genuinely really touching and i think brings some great writing and performances from her VA - her wrestling with the feelings around her gods/ancestors turning out to be violent, genocidal maniacs who will eradicate even her own people if it means securing their empire and the fact that her religion and culture was based on worshipping them and their ancestral land that was built on this blood. that is a really rich topic to dig into in 2024. not to mention her brother turning out to be a MAGA brainwashed cultist. this is a level of writing that dragon age has rarely even tried to touch as a series i feel, and yet. we don't actually get to see/hear the Dalish culture wrestle with this at large, not even in Codex (unless i missed something). similar again with hearing about Kal Sharok but not really getting to see anything - weird or out of the ordinary about the dwarves and no reaction from Orzammar.
there's more in general but its really just. boggles the mind, like what happened? why are the game assets so different from what the characters talk about? even if there wasnt time to add more in game, why wasn't there more in the Codex? and when the game utilizes the Missives, the characters kinda forget about it (ie Inquisitor writing about the mayhem ongoing in the South vs Harding just popping in for hiking here and there and never mentioning being worried about her family or anything).
for my money i cant say the game is bad on all fronts, and i cant say its great but it keeps just kinda wrestling with itself with these moments of brilliance under the sanded down edges, its just frustrating and a little sad. i keep thinking of it like the repeated caves and giant spiders of dragon age 2, where in my mind i salvage the writing and my favorite characters out of the absolute mess that the game is technically, except its me saving my favorite moments of Veilguard and readjusting the game world in my brain to be more in line with what the characters actually talk about.

y'know not to be controversial but brave or a hypocrite because usually I been be put off by certain age differences in fiction but like. I don't think I've ever seen a good well handled 'age gap' romance novel and it would probably go hard
Like someone in their mid to late twenties who had to grow up faster than their peers because of life circumstances or whatever, who just hasn't had any luck with dating anyone their age because they inevitably want different things, maybe they're ready to settle down but their exes just aren't
Enter someone a little older, more mature, maybe someone who's already been married before but it didn't work out and the two of them just end up clicking
Idk could be interesting, especially if it's not the big obstacle to overcome just an extra facet of their relationship!
This is definitely not me thinking about Hugh Jackman
i think age gaps are, like anything else, just another "tool" in an author's toolbox that can either be handled well or handled poorly, that adds a complicating factor to a character's situation in a way that can be totally compelling, add depth to who they are as a character, and add stakes adn drama to the story at large! i dont see any reason why an age gap should be something that CANT be done well
and hell, it can bring with it an air of social taboo without anyone doing anything Wrong. maybe her friends judge her for her choice, think she's odd or getting taken advantage of or just dont sympathize with her, when all that's happening is she managed to click with someone a little more mature. and his friends maybe call him a cradle robber even though she's not That young, his ex-wife gives him a Look when he "rebounds" with a "new young woman" even though it isnt like that, its genuine and soft and caring
not to mention how everyone reaches different stages of life at different times, and the increasing stratification of society where age gaps of 10 years for friendships is seen as "weird" and "what could you possibly talk about" and even "predatory", when for example growing up my mom played with everyone from toddler to teenager because that was the group of children around her and there was no reason to arbitrarily keep children from hanging out.
as long as the characters genuinely click, i think its a really sweet premise for a romance! two people growing to understand each other and connect despite what others would perceive as "insurmountable differences", because it turns out those differences are what make them so compatible! because theyre both looking for the same thing from life! you could have something like; they could both be homebodies who enjoy going on hikes on the weekend, they like the quiet and the nature and getting out and exploring something new but in a very serene way, and they end up kind of isolated from friends because of it. because during the week theyre just relaxing, and on the weekends they want this quiet meditative spaces, and her friends all want to go out, so she misses these chances to connect with others. but he likes what she likes! he wants soft evengings in, and going to state parks, and its just so easy around him!
you know? it doesnt have to be hiking and staying in, but something where it stops her from connecting with her social group, but does seem more a mature guy's speed, and allows them to connect to each other.
basically as long as they want the same things, i think it could be cute and youre right.

So i went to matt's blog to look at that original terrible explanation post bc i remember seeing he added a lame backpedaling addition to his comment abt the hammer car post after he saw how many people were clowning on him for it, but then i saw this under it which is potentially even worse???
(Static added to differentiate between my text and matt screenshot)
Like. Matt. MATT. You've BEEN THRU THIS before buddy you ALREADY made this mistake of making a claim about how egregious avery behaved ("names so explicit i can't post them here without a mature tag"), attaching absolutely no proof, and then when you do decide to give proof its the most lukewarm run of the mill everyday typical tumblr content out there. Like. Suggestive sideblog urls??? (Sarcasm) Oooh time to dust off the ol horny jail baseball bats from 2021 and keep digging that hole youre in matt. Not to mention he posted said proof not to his own blog on his own website on the post he's edited many many many times to add shit to it, but on an entirely different website for the purpose of continuing to harass the same woman
And i know that either way, after he said what he said in the above screenshot, posting or not posting those blog names wouldve been a bad idea. Dont post them, and youve made a baseless claim that makes you look like more of a liar (which he is imo but.), do post them and you've maliciously outed her other blogs and made yourself look like more of a transmisogynist (again, i dont have much faith that he isnt). But like. 2 things abt that.
1. He managed to do both of those at the same time by posting some parts on tumblr and the other parts in a twitter reply
2. He couldve avoided having to do either IF HE DIDNT MENTION THEM AT ALL!!!!! BC CLEARLY HE DIDNT NEED TO!!!!!! WHERE AM I IN CRAZY TOWN?????
Just digging the hole further and further and further, after he made i think 2 and maybe more apology posts and HAS SEEMINGLY DELETED THEM NOW. COME THE FUCK ONNNNN MAN
#speci speaks#URRUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGHGGGGG#im ashamed to share a variation on his name with one of my names (mattie)#(not my legal name so its ok)

TRIGGER WARNING - contains mature topics of racism, rape, and discrimination.
I love Alastor's relationship with women, and I know its due to him being a big mama's boy. He has so much respect for his mom, he wouldn't dare raise his hand to another woman. In the comic of him, he kills the butcher for beating his wife, and it shows that while Alastor is evil, and an overlord, he has somewhat of a code. Even in hell.
When he was alive, i have no doubt his targets were only men of power. Thinking back on how he grew up, the time period he grew up in. His mother being a woman of color, and being a mixed child during those times it only had to mean he was constantly looked down upon, seen as a wretched child. during those times, it was usually slave owners raping black slaves. So the nature of how he grew up was anything but pretty, and I do believe its what caused a series of resentment to grow inside him towards men especially. his mother being the only one able to really see his true smile, while the one he wore in public was for show. giving the illusion. he was charming, he was a smooth talker, there is a reason his talk show was as popular as it was. he was influential, people listened to him. he was described as living his best life, and i don't doubt he worked very hard to build his reputation despite his background.
Alastor was calculated in choosing his victims, going more for the ones who abused their power, were overly cocky, or even ones who thought to take him down.
I think its very interesting how quickly Alastor angered when Husk mentioned his own chains. No one likes to be shackled of course, but for Alastor not having his own freedom is detrimental to who he is, who he is trying to be. Who would think Alastor of all demons was also someone else's bitch? its demeaning. and he's been demeaned all his life.
I also think about how Vox calls him a coward. and I think the word is purely one-sided. I have no clue how that fight went, if it was a fight. we don't know. but vox says he's a coward, implying that alastor ran. we see this with adam too, but self-preservation and being a coward are two different things. i think alastor does in fact hate losing, but he's not above living to fight another day.
he doesnt strike me as someone who would die fighting. what does he get out of that? its why his break down is so gooood cuz people misunderstand his intentions and he hates the idea that he almost died for that. im not saying he doesnt care about the group, but he is prideful, and he wants to be more than. if hes gonna go down, its not gonna be in a way that he isnt approving of if that makes sense?
I think vox likes to call him a coward cuz to him he ran from a fight, and really I think Vox got lucky so he's milking it for all that he can. otherwise why would vox be so fucking adamant to try and get rid of him before Alastor even starts?
im throwing up words here fnksldnfksd alastor is just on the brain brr brrr
#just an FYI you will see me talk about uncomfortable topics concerning race and the lifestyle of things in the time period that alastor is#from#i do my research and i try my best to be as respectful as possible with these topics#as a person of color myself i feel its important to address in terms of his character#why he started to do the things he did when he was alive#i also have a fascination for serial killers and just learning the way their minds work#so I will go into the thought process at times and talk about similarities alastor shares when i find them#tw: rape#tw: murder#⌜the secret memoirs of a serial killer⌟ . // headcanons

Hi!
Anon here again, because I think my message got taken a little wrong, and I never wanted that to happen. I just wanted to point out something that I, a black person with a large nose, had personally seen and been affected by.
Not once did I ever bring up Scar being Jewish... so I'm a little confused as to where that came from. Racist caricatures of people with big noses is not something only associated with Jewish people, as I hope the other asker knows. I'm a little upset that my ask was taken as mean or cruel, given I was simply pointing out something that has affected me as well as others in my community.
Which is why I brought it up. Because I belong to a community of people who have been harmed by these stereotypes. The asker has mentioned that they are white and raised Christian (which, once again, I'm very confused as to how religion has come into play. I never once brought up being Jewish) and it makes me a little upset that our voices are being spoken over yet again by people online who wish to "white knight" for their favorite artists.
I'm very sorry that my ask was taken to be sent in such an angry tone, because I never meant it like that. You genuinely were one of my favorite artists, and I still do enjoy your art!
I just wish people weren't so quick to jump to "attacking without reason" as I believe you even mentioned yourself that I and that other anonymous asker had valid points, which I very much appreciate! It's truly a sign of maturity to be able to look at criticism and say "yeah, I can see that, I'm sorry".
Again, I'm so sorry that things were taken so aggressively. That was never my intent. I'm very glad you seem to have given myself and that other anon the benefit of the doubt. I truly hope you have a wonderful day.
i never took your ask as aggressive, but i kinda do struggle to see why a white man being drawn with a bigger nose would be racist? i think i would understand if scar was a person of color, but then again, im white, maybe im just really blind to this. i feel like i cant really speak on this because i just dont know enough about this.
i think the jewish thing came from the fact that, like i just mentioned, scar isnt black so that would probably be the most logical conclusion for some people.
im just gonna draw his nose in a different way

Sunday Secrets (11/2/24)
Sunday Secrets: Submission 1:
i have a problem. i've been dating this girl for eight months. she's been a really amazing girlfriend, we dont fight, shes lovely and she made me so happy.
but now, with school starting and the fact that we go to different schools (plus, she has a lot of after-school activities so its hard to plan hangouts), i dont know if i want to be with her anymore. shes a really beautiful, sweet person, and i really did love her. but i dont think our relationship is going anywhere, and ive never broken up with someone before.
i find myself dreading hanging out with her. i feel like we dont click like we used to, and im worried that she doesnt feel the same and ill break her heart ending our relationship.
what should i do? how do i end it, while saying its ENTIRELY a me problem (cheesy, whatever), and that shes made me really happy but i dont think we should keep dating?
i really genuinely like her platonically, and i think she deserves someone who can be there for her better than i can. i dont think im a good fit for her anymore, and i feel like its not good for either of us to be in this relationship when im not in the right mindset for it. shes also not an easy person to plan dates for, and she doesnt like a lot of the same food as i do, and isnt that willing to try it.
school is also killing me, and im in a fairly bad place mentally, and i just dont think i can be there for her the way she needs.
what do i do?
Thank you for being so honest and vulnerable with us about your situation. We can tell how much you care about your girlfriend and how much thought you’ve put into this decision. It’s refreshing to see someone being so considerate about ending a relationship, rather than just ghosting or creating drama.
First, we want to validate your feelings here. It’s completely normal for relationships to change as life circumstances shift, and it doesn’t make you a bad person for recognizing when something isn’t working anymore. School stress, different schedules, and growing apart are all valid reasons to reevaluate a relationship.
Our Advice to You:
The fact that you’re dreading hangouts is actually a really important sign to pay attention to. When you’re in the right relationship, even if things are hard, you should generally look forward to seeing that person.
You mentioned this is your first breakup, which can make it extra scary. But from what you’ve written, you seem to have a really mature perspective on why this needs to happen.
The timing might never feel “perfect,” but being honest sooner rather than later is usually kinder than letting things drag on when your heart isn’t in it anymore.
As for the how — we suggest keeping it simple and honest. Maybe try something like: “I need to be honest with you. You’re an amazing person, and these past eight months have meant a lot to me. But with school and our different schedules, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and I don’t feel I can be the partner you deserve right now. This isn’t about anything you’ve done wrong — you’ve been wonderful. I just need to focus on my mental health and school, and I don’t think it’s fair to either of us to continue when I can’t give 100% to this relationship.”
Some tips for the conversation:
Choose a private place to talk
Pick a time when neither of you has to rush off somewhere
Be prepared for emotions (both hers and yours)
Avoid phrases like “let’s be friends” in the moment (even if you want that eventually, give it time)
Stand firm in your decision — going back and forth will only make it harder
To our Girl Talk Collectives community: Have any of you had to end a relationship with someone you still care about? How did you handle it? Drop your advice in the comments below!
*You can always reach out to us through our DMs. We check them regularly and are here to support you.
Much Love,
Sarah+Maya

Does anyone else find it kind of funny and tragic that the route in 3 hopes that do the best job of showing 2 cultures overcoming their shared history of trauma and bloodshed and have them actually recovering together is actually Dimitris not Claudes.
It starts off with Dimitri being able to prove the people of Duscur innocent of the crime they were excused of he then works to help restore the nation and return their homeland back to them while he makes sure Faerghus knows they are the ones who messed up. This was partly the reason why his nation fell into civil war, but he still Hose ahead with it.
Over the next 2 years, he helps to fix Duscur and bring its people back home . They are still not ready to stand by themselves they are offered all the support Dimitri can give. We see Dimitri invite their leaders into postions of power in Faerghus. There, people are building homes and businesses in a land that ounce hatred them, but is now changing.
We see the Church of Serios offering its aid to the peopel of Duscur dispute the difference in faith simple to spread goodwill as well. Aka showing by example to help the faithful embrace there allies regardless of faith or nation of orgin.
We find out that both nations are sharing culture and knowledge with each other to help both of them improve and grow, and this further the bonds between them. Dudue mentions in his expenditure dialogue that he sees the children of both nations play with each showing how the next generation will not carry the scars and how the current one trust each other.
While it is still not a meeting of equals, mostly because Duscur was so badly crippled it's clear they are moving in that direction, and the 2 nations will have strong bonds going on from this point.
Unfortunately, Golden Wildfire has none of this as insted of having Alymra and the Alliance/Federation coming together in mutual understanding and acknowledging the issue of the last and accepting responsibility it isnted puts all balme onto a third party and have both sides take place in invading and attacking a innocent nation.
The Almyra attacks and crimes against Fodlan are either forgotten or turned into a joke while the Alliance keeping some Almyra child slaves is not even addressed. None of the issues or problems are ever addressed in a mature way as they just find a scapegoat to blame all their problems on.
It's just so disappointing, and honestly, Claude and the Alymra deserved so much better writing than they got, and the games basically just truns them into a racist stereotype and then defend it.
#fire emblem 3 hopes#azure gleam#Anti Golden Wildfire#Claude deserved so much better#Duscur#Pro Faerghus#Alymra deserved so much better as well
